Had the pho chay (vegetable pho) with vegetable broth and the vegetable vermicelli. Veggie pho broth was too salty in my opinion. My aunt thought so too. I did like they included many vegetables. Tofu could have had more in the pho. The vegetable vermicelli was better. Could have used a little more fish sauce. Lots of veggies. Guy was power washing the front of the floor of the restaurant while we were there which made it hard to converse. This is honestly the best Pho I've had.. The broth is very flavorful and I really appreciate that the chicken skin isn't included in their soup. They also have all of the fresh toppings on the side. I usually order the Pho Ga and have loved it every time. I sometimes get the beef banh mi which is also very good and eat it with the soup. I've eaten in the restaurant a couple of times but usually get it to go. The service is always pretty quick and they're nice and helpful whether you dine in or not. read more

Earlier today I had to make a stop in this shopping center. There was a distinct aroma in the air of something absolutely delicious that caught my attention. My nose sussed it out, and literally lead me by the nose to Pho on California. It was mid day and I was in my groove, but grabbed my phone and bookmarked it on Yelp. As I went about my day, my mind was still pondering the fragrant aroma of the broth, a slightly sweet smell and layered notes promising a delight to the tastebuds. Returned home I announced "Soup for dinner!" In a large stock pot I put an assortment of veggies to simmer in bone broth. I had viewed the menu via Yelp and knew I wanted to go back and get their broth and noodles. #14 on the menu. You know how when you cook for yourself everything, no matter how good, tastes as would be expected. By adding the $12 of broth and noodles we are going to have two hearty nights of dinner that are definitely a notch above in flavor. 5 stars for my delicious to go order was ready by the time I hit the Yelp check in button! Well I should start by saying the flavor of the food is good. They offer a wide range of dishes which is nice, and if you are local to this neighborhood (as this really is the only pho place around this area) it's not horrible. However, if you are not local and can travel the extra 15 minutes, you have so many better options. What i found annoying: 1. With my pho came very little vegetables and no basil. Think: a teacup saucer of sprouts and a lime. Any other place would serve you as much as you would ever want. 2. A $4.50 iced tea (unsweetened) was not refillable. I mean seriously, for a glass half full of ice, this is simply robbery. Also, it didn't say on the menu that it wasn't refillable. Service was a 3/5 if scaled to any restaurant, or a 4/5 if you compare it to other pho restaurants... they are basically there to serve you food and get you on your way ASAP. So in conclusion, not a place to avoid if you live or work here, within a few blocks. But not exactly worth it to travel to. read more

We love this place it's our go to for Vietnamese food. Their pho is super flavorful the broth is deep and the proteins are light. Their pho portions are generous. They were very generous with their meats that I actually wanted more noodles lol The meat and noodle ratio was a bit off because of that lol but the meat was very tender, especially the short rib. Solid Pho Place! Been here a few times and the experience is always pleasant. We discovered it last year while visiting family across the street at Huntington Memorial Hospital. They're located in Vons Shopping plaza. Staff is quick and efficient, perfect for quick bite. The space is small and can get crowded on busy days. Though they have outdoor seating, it's limited to 3 small tables. Prices are reasonable and decent size portions. The pho here is terrific. We got chicken and short rib combo (short rib, brisket and rare steak). Both broths were flavorful and on point. Noodles are more on thinner side, very well prepared and just right. Hardly needed any utensils for short rib, it was fall off the bone tender. Only complaint is there skimpy on bean sprouts, jalapeno and lime. It would have been nice to have more veggies. Absolutely LOVE!!!! A quiet simple dining spot with basic tables and chairs. The concept is very open so you do see directly into the kitchen area but it's not unpleasant. The broth lacked freshness and had that unmistakable "something's not right" flavor. It wasn't subtle. It was bad enough that I couldn't keep eating it. When I brought it to the owner's attention, instead of addressing it professionally, I was told the taste was because the bean sprouts were old. Let me repeat that: they admitted the ingredients were old -- and still refused to replace the bowl. If you know an ingredient is past its prime, why is it being served? And if a customer tells you their food tastes spoiled, the bare minimum is offering to remake it. Refusing to exchange it after acknowledging old produce is not just poor customer service -- it's concerning. Pho is supposed to be fresh, clean, aromatic, and comforting. This was the opposite. Between the questionable freshness and the dismissive response, I won't be returning. There are too many places that value quality and their customers to waste time here. read more

We were served a bowl that had a straight up muddy, off taste. Anyone who eats pho regularly knows the difference between a clean, fragrant broth and something that's clearly wrong. This wasn't subtle. Something was very off. When we flagged it politely, the owner GRABBED A SPOON and tried the pho. She then told us the issue was the bean sprouts being "too ripe." They acknowledged an ingredient was off and still refused to replace the bowl unless we paid again. It baffled my mind that a restaurant owner could be so unapologetic about objectively BAD food. That is not how you run a serious pho shop in Los Angeles. This city is packed with spots that take pride in their broth and stand behind their food. If your ingredients slip, you fix it. I enjoyed the vermicelli a lot because it wasn't super fish saucy. I haven't found too many great pho spots in the Pasadena area, so this was a really nice find. Server was attentive, the inside had about 8-10 tables and 2-3 tables outside so not great for large parties. Beast Pho I ordered the No. 2 Spicy Dac Biet with Spicy Power: Hot. -Grub- It was surprisingly good because it wasn't just them tossing on chili oil, but using some sort of Chili Crisp-like sauce. It had dried chili peppers, chili oil, and what tasted like fermented beans mixed in as well which resulted in a spicy, salty, savory mix. What you get with the spicy Pho is less of the original Pho broth (which is still great on its own) but more of the spicy, salty, and savory parts of the spicy sauce. Spicy Power: Hot is somewhere between the higher end of Jalapeño and Serrano. It was a surprisingly tasty experience as I've never tried a restaurant that offered spicy versions of their Pho. -Service- Service was attentive. The workers spoke Korean so I assume the place is Korean owned & operated. What's surprising is that in my experience most Korean-owned Pho restaurant tend to be garbo in quality, but this place wasn't. I will remember that.
