This is one of the oldest Indonesian restaurant in LA county area. Some places opened then eventually closed. This one survived by changing ownership few times. Also, this one is a Halal restaurant. So for our muslim friend, pork free and Indonesian cuisine. Yummy. Still remember the menu has extensive list. They still do today. They also have limited item for lunch special. Smaller portion. Service usually slow. I came on weekday lunch time. The lady just getting ready. One person doing both front and kitchen. Ambiance still the same from 20+ years ago. Few small dining tables inside located in the plaza at the corner. Rather hard to enter from freeway if there is traffic. Ordered Nasi Kuning. Everything hit the spot. Their rendang is the sweet and darker black color instead of brownish. They charge 2% for Credit Card Transaction. A good Indonesian restaurant choices if you are around the area.

I definitely expected way more for this place. It was just ok. Nothing extra special for me. I ordered to go though so I'm not sure if it's better if you get it there? Parking is definitely hard though. Thankfully I had someone with me. Not sure if I will be back but maybe to try something else but the ones I ordered were just ok.

I've been on a food kick lately.. wanting to try new cuisines. So I decided on this place. It's in a shopping plaza with reasonable parking. The establishment was small, mom and pop feel. The gentleman that gave me my food was very nice and funny. The food was ok.. I was looking for more seasoning and spice... I ordered the bakmi goreng. The chicken was really good! The shrimp was slightly over cooked and the noodles were a little mushy. Id try this place again

The restaurant is located in a busy area that is right by the freeway. We were able to grab the last open parking spot. The restaurant is like stepping into a home. It's small and cozy at the same time. You are warmly greeted by the owner and the food and drink are delicious. We ordered by phone and the order was ready in 15 minutes. The food was piping hot. The drink is made when we arrived to keep it fresh and cool. Make sure to bring cash otherwise there is a service charge when using a card. We ordered Pempek Palembamg Kapal Selam, Nasi Bungkus, Noodle Bihun Chicken, Gado Gado, and ES Cendol Drink. When we come back again, we will definitely order the Nasi Bungkus, ES Cendol Drink, and a new item to try out. Everything here is delicious!

Since moving out of state, it had been a few years since I physically ate at this restaurant. I missed my cendol and bakmi! This small mom and pop restaurant looked exactly as I remember it. Menu was quite extensive, but I always go to my fave, either the Lontong Toko Rame special or the noodle special. The cendol was yummy and sweet, and my childhood fave I could not miss on. It consisted of coconut milk, palm sugar, pandan jelly, and pieces of jackfruit. Went down so smoothly and easily. The bakmi was deelish- egg noodles cooked and seasoned perfectly with chicken, pork and shrimp and topped with a fried egg. The chicken sate was moist and topped with peanut sauce. The nasi rames - a sampler platter of the best is always a good go to as well. Service was great- water was always filled and extra napkins given without asking. Pay cash to avoid credit card surcharge. A questionable business has moved in two doors down from Toko Rame in this tight small strip mall. A better location would be better located near the Dutch Indo market further on the street......

    Sate Padang

Love this place! I've been coming here for several years. The food quality is great! The place is clean and the staff is friendly. The Sate Padang tastes better than a few places if tried in Jakarta. The Nasi Bungkus is the bomb! The only downside is location. It's so far away but worth the drive. Highly recommend.

The rice was flavorful along side the well cooked meat. It came with an egg, spicy peanuts, and a coquette. You can order at the counter or at the table. Though, if you're unfamiliar, it's worth it to ask the staff for details especially for the items listed on the daily special since there's no descriptor on those. The place also serves as a mini grocery for Indonesian items if you want to make it at home. It does give homely vibes with a sense of community. They serve authentic Indonesian foods that remind me of Jakarta. Today I was really craving Ayam Goreng Kremes, because it's been many years since the last time I had it. Nasi Ayam Kremes is a combination of Indonesian style fried chicken, white rice, perkedel (fried potato pattie), fried tofu, fried tempeh, and sayur asem soup. The chicken is deep fried after it's been cooked in herbs and fully marinated. Very flavorful as I can really taste the different herbs and spices. Over the fried chicken is a generous serving of savory crunchy crumbs. There's also a side of medium spicy house sambal. I would recommend adding some kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce) and use this as dipping sauce. The half fried chicken is rather small, about the size of a Cornish hen. The soup is pretty good, even though I am not a fan of sayur asem soup. This tamarind-based soup contains green beans, chayote, corn rounds, and peanuts. The deep fried marinated tofu and tempeh are so yummy! They truly remind me of the good ol' days living in Indonesia, as they are the staple foods of the locals. The perkedel is just passable, possibly because it is served cold. Unfortunately, it isn't as crispy as it should be. The restaurant is small. Other than the kitchen crew, only one person was doing all the work. Good and very friendly service. My order did take a long time, however. If you're in a rush, you may want to eat somewhere else. Indo Bistro is the place where you really want to "santai" which means relax, take it easy. Indo Bistro is an Indonesian restaurant, mini-mart hybrid. They sell a variety of pre-packaged Indonesian snacks, shelf stable groceries, and also freshly-made market snacks, such as pastel, lemper, bakcang, rempeyek, etc. I also tried their savory snack Lemper, which is sticky rice stuffed with shredded chicken that's been cooked in coconut milk. After it is wrapped in fresh banana leaf, it is then char-grilled. Their lemper is really good, but very greasy. It's basically food and lip gloss in one. BOGO Lol Next time when I'm craving more Indonesian food, I'll be coming back to Indo Bistro. They have really good chicken satays.

My husband originally wanted to order the Char Siu Rice, but unfortunately it wasn't available on Sunday at 3 PM, so he switched to the Nasi Lemak Chicken--and it turned out to be a great choice. Easily 10/10. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the rice was fragrant and flavorful. I ordered the Curry Laksa, which came with tender chicken, fish balls, tofu, vegetables, and boiled egg. The portion was quite generous for a single dish. They also offer two noodle options--egg noodles or rice noodles--and I chose the egg noodles (pictured). While the ingredients and portion were excellent, the broth was not as rich and savory as I expected, especially since laksa broth usually has such a distinctive flavor. I'd still give it an 8/10 overall. One thing I really appreciated was that they offered sambal prawn as a condiment, something not commonly found at other Malaysian restaurants. I also tried the iced Teh Tarik, but it tasted a bit too watered down for my liking, so I probably wouldn't order it again. Service-wise, one staff member seemed a little overwhelmed when we arrived and didn't acknowledge us, so we seated ourselves at an available empty table. They also have a small grocery section where you can purchase authentic Malaysian dry goods. I picked up a Pandan Kaya Toast Jam. The restaurant itself is simple and casual, with no fancy décor--but the food is the main attraction here. Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!

Nearly everything we tried was bursting with flavor, well-deserving of the Michelin Bib Gourmand designation the restaurant has earned the past five years. The food is served family style, and the cocktail menu is unique. Conveniently, there is also a good amount of street parking around the restaurant, even on bustling weekends. To start, I had the black rose, an agave wine cocktail with black sesame, rose orgeat, and egg white. I'm not sure the blend of flavors worked, but it was certainly unique. We also tried the gypsy king (their version of a spicy margarita) and the pandan, lime, and coconut mocktail, both of which were decent. For the small plates, we agreed that the charred eggplant and sea bream ceviche were stellar. The sambal shined with the eggplant, and the cassava chips paired perfectly with the makrut lime and coconut cream in the ceviche. The roti was just alright - nothing to write home about. The pork belly skewers were juicy and well-flavored, although we had finished all our small and large plates by the time the skewers came out (we had to ask about them - the waiters/kitchen likely forgot about our skewers, as multiple tables seated after us received theirs before we did). The ayam penyet, nasi goreng, and beef rendang were delicious and well thought-out dishes. We agreed that while the menu is heavily Indonesian-inspired and the food features the flavors of Southeast Asia, the dishes are quite Americanized. Dija Mara shines in presenting a typically uncommon cuisine in the U.S. in an easily accessible manner, which is laudable. Would recommend everyone try at least once.
