I wish I had read these reviews before going to Toe Tally. I agree with several other reviews here saying that Toe Tally nails is unsanitary. I had to ask the technician not once, not twice, but three times to clean her cuticle cutter before using it on my fingers. The cuticle cutter had other people's skin in it. I had to refuse to have my fingers cut with it and point out that the cuticle cutter was dirty and also insist that it was part of the manicure She seemed genuinely annoyed that I insisted she clean her instruments before using them on my hands. She sliced through the side of my finger, looked down to see the cut and kept going. I can forgive that because cuts happen. However, the technician's resistance to cleaning the instruments was disgusting. The polish job was average, but the poor sanitation is the reason I will not go there again. If you end up there out of desperation watch the technician like a hawk and insist that she clean the instruments before using them on your hands. read more

I went for a pedicure and Jenny was the most unpleassant woman I have ever seen in that kind of job. She pushed my feet into the tub several times as she worked, and at the end when I asked her to put polish again, as I had accidentally damaged it, she ordered, "go to the chair. Toe Tally has been my go to salon for years. I don't even live in the neighborhood, but I travel for a good mani/pedi. They've had the same technicians for as long as I can remember- Jenny, Tina, Julie and Ni are the most in demand, but honestly I've never had a bad experience with anyone there. The salon is clean, they use sanitized tools and have a great selection of colors. The appointments are fast, which I like, but thorough and they validate parking. read more

A couple of days ago I did the full set gel in this salon, my experience was terrible. The person who worked on my nails was a man, I have no problem with that and decided to give it a try, as soon as he started working I had to ask him to use a new nail file !!! With everything that is happening with this pandemic, he intended to use an old nail file! The truth is that now I don't know if they properly disinfected the other tools they use, then when I went to the restroom to wash my hands, the place was pretty untidy. He hardly spoke and communicated mostly by signs and even to ask me how I wanted the shape of my nails, he showed me a kind of cardboard with drawings of nails. To end this horrible experience at the time of paying they charged me $ 55.00 and I gave him an extra $ 10 as a tip when he took my credit card I was given the horrible surprise that one of his little nails on one of his hands had fungus and the nail was growing or had fallen, I do not know!!!! OMG!! Since that day I have a horrible feeling if I'm going to catch fungus too. The next day, I was telling one of my coworkers about my horrible experience and she told me that she took the same full set gel service at this same place a few weeks ago and that they charged her only $ 35 and not $ 55 as they charged me, she was not satisfied with the service either, she says that her nails were too thick and they were not even filed. If I had known before I would have NEVER gone to this place ... I'm wondering if the cost of the service varies according to the person? Now I just hope that nothing happens with my nails and that I do not catch any fungus! Please do not go to this place!! read more

tried it a few times but oh my god what a bad place. They do not sanitize and are more into talking to each other in their language than paying attention to you. Especially the younger guy, he has no clue what he is doing. Really no clue. Nailpolish always has some bubbles and if you tell them they are redoing it but it takes forever and it is never how you like it. On all occasions they didnt use the right tools and cut the wrong way causing me to bleed. I would be surprised if this store will stay there for a long time. read more

I've revisited a few times since posting my last review including recently. Same thoughts: clean, pleasant, efficient place...so-so quality in basic services (4 of my fingernails came out visibly crooked, attention to calluses is negligible). An advisory, tho: The woman who did my mani-pedi was very nice and conscientious but either because she was new or couldn't read English, she appeared unfamiliar with the products on her tray. Once, she had to ask the technician working alongside if she was taking the right product; this certainly made me worry. What was of greater concern - and pain - was that she took the chemical gel used to break down calluses, applied it liberally on a scrubbing block and went right to work all over my feet. I'ved used that stuff at home for years and there are 2 important things to know: it needs to sit on calluses for a few minutes to have any results and it absolutely cannot be used on any skin lacking calluses (that's why it's gel so it can be placed on specific areas). So this woman's instant application/removal of the gel was all for show and achieved nothing. However, the fact that she had the block covered in gel meant that it landed all over my feet. Some gel got on my toenail cuticles, which had obviously just been trimmed, and they began burning instantly. I was glad that she did such a brief callus scrub so I could plunge my feet into the water and try to ease the stinging. But the burning sensation came and went for at least a day. I'd still go to this salon if only for convenience and cleanliness but I plan on being alot more attentive (and vocal if necessary) to the products and processes being used on me there. read more

I was excited to try this place. It was clean, and the prices were reasonable. Unfortunately, I left with nails different lengths, round (when I had asked for square), and a sloppy polish job on my nails and toes. The gentleman who did my nails was extremely nice, but I'm still paying for a service. I'm willing to go back and try a different person though :) read more

I have hd a number of great manicures at this location. Even when I get a traditional paint job, not a gel, I am pleased with how long it lasts without chipping. The staff here takes a long time on the manicure and makes sure they do a good job. Plus they are nice and remember me every time, even when it has been a long time between visits. It is also a clean place with good massage chairs. Two thumbs up! read more

I gave it one star based on the service of one person, Tracy. She was rude, not very thorough and not a nice person. I came here because my sister in law told me about the SNS, I have been wanting to try it. I had acrylic for a while and was looking for a "healthier" alternative. I was charged $50, I do want to say I don't mind the price but if the experience was better I would have been more satisfied paying the bill. my nails were not really shaped and cleaned, they were just slighty filed and then the tech slathered on the polish and the powder. they look cute but with no shape and the edges are poking, not exactly what I was hoping for read more

This was the first time I got my nails done in DC and my friend recommended this place as a pretty good nail salon. I went on Sunday for a gel manicure and pedicure. I noticed as soon as I walked in that the space was small for the amount of customers that were being helped. It was very tight quarters. I was helped immediately, which was great. I had my pedicure first (I was able to get a gel pedicure, for a few extra dollars). My first issue is that I wanted to know additional amount I was being charged for getting gel on my toes. I was never told that. Also they jumped on promoted their spa pedicure, which I got; but to be honest I would not get again because it was just packets of lotions/gels that they use instead of their salon lotion. Not worth the extra $5-15. My gel manicure was great, nothing special. I got my eyebrows waxed as well and that was wonderful for $12, it was definitely worth it. The prices are a bit high but for a gel mani/pedi it is $75, which I think is a great deal, compared to other places I have been too. They really want cash tips, but I didn't have any cash so I had to put it on my card, which was kind of frowned upon. I would definitely go back when I need a new gel manicure. read more

I was also lured in by the 20% discount to a new neighborhood salon, but I had a great experience. New and clean equipment, nice and relaxing atmosphere, and it wasn't too crowded. I also opted for the upgraded mani/pedi since there was a discount and while I wouldn't do that treatment again, it was fabulous! Lena is a great technician and spent a lot of time and care with me. Walk-ins did start to show up as my manicure was ending but I didn't feel rushed out of there and it seemed like the waiting area was in control. They don't do the razor, but she spent so much time scrubbing that I think it's ok. And they validate 1 hr parking! read more

I love how clean, open and spacious Toe Tally is - I'm almost always able to get in right away, even on a busy Sunday afternoon. They're also fast (which I really appreciate) without being sloppy. Good color selection too! My new go-to spot. read more

Good prices and lots of chairs/tables so the wait is never more than 5 or 10 mins. Saturdays are busy, wait can be closer to 20 mins. Their manicures/pedicures are good but not great. Not as much attention to details as other places and the finish to the nails has always been slightly off when I've gone. Other than that, the staff is friendly and the place is bright and clean. I have gone back to Cleveland Park Day Spa because I got fed up of being disappointed with the lack of attention to detail -- I want a pedi/mani that is better than what I could do at home. read more

At first, my experiences were very good and I was impressed. After a while, the representatives began to get sloppy. One of them cut my fingers twice and then squeezed glue over the cuts in an attempt to "seal" them. This is poor microbiological practice. I am aging, which means my nails are becoming brittle, so I use an overlay. In less than a week, my nails look like a 5 year old painted them. I've also watched some of them with their sanitation practices and notice that they use sink soap to rinse the utensils instead of placing them in a biological cleaning and sterilizing solution which can rid utensils of endotoxins. And, last, but not least, they are extremely racist to people who are not white. read more

I'm very disturbed from reading these reviews, because I TOO was cut by the manicurist here - she was filing my nails and the corner of the nail file deeply cut into my finger, at the corner of the top of my nail. Just as other reviewers here describe, the manicurist put a drop of alcohol in it and kept going - rubbing lotion into it, and placing my cut finger into the bowl of warm water. This is disturbing on many levels - not to mention dangerous and unsanitary. I doubt she cleaned the bowl or the marbles in the bowl. She kept using the same jagged nail file on me even after it cut me. Luckily for whoever got a mani after me, I have no infectious diseases. What's worse, it's not as though I got a real apology, not to mention any sort of discount. Also, three of my toes are now in pain since my pedicure - inflamed around the edges from rough scraping. read more

It's very unfortunate that I had to give toa tally nails a one star. I used to come here more often and really liked it, but it has gone down hill. My friend and I went yesterday to get a mani-pedi. From the moment we walked in I could sense the stress all the workers were under. It was obvious that they were over-worked because they were all rushing and running back and forth from their other location across the street. The lady who did my manicure was very quick, but not in a good way. I did not feel relaxed. There were stray cotton hairs left and the manicure looked like something I could have done myself at home. Oh and one of my nails has already started chipping. I had to file it down myself this morning because I am going to a wedding tonight and do not have time to get them fixed. My pedicure was a little better, but not much. I had another lady do my feel because the manicurist had another appointment right after me. While the second lady was doing my pedicure, the manager came by and spoke to her. From what I could sense, he was telling her to hurry up because she began rushing. I had to call her out 3 times to take out my ingrown toe nails. Once she finished she RAN out to the other salon. I noticed there was a piece of skin on my toe which she did not remove, and so I had to cut it out myself. In conclusion, I was very disappointed with Toa Tally Nails. The manager should focus more on quality rather than quantity. I will never be coming back here again. read more

I don't usually write reviews, and if I did they wouldn't normally (or hardly ever) be one-stars, but this one is. I have been looking for a good nail salon to replace the one I love in Indiana (a bit far to go every month), and I've been walking past this one for months. It looked nice, and I had a break over lunch this week, so I went in. I'm really sorry I did. I'm pretty easy-going when it comes to salons. I know sometimes my nails aren't going to look exactly like I hoped they would, and I'm willing to be flexible and make allowances. I had very nice, long nails when I went in, and thought it'd be nice to get a gel/shellac manicure to keep them that way. When the girl asked if I wanted my nails cut, I said only enough so that the nails on my left hand matched the (very slightly shorter) length of the nails on my right hand. Instead she cut them down so short that I'm having trouble getting my contacts out and I can't turn the pages of my book. When she asked what shape I wanted them, I said I like them a very natural shape, between oval and square. She filed them square, with right angles at the corners. When I asked her to file them rounder, she just filed them into smaller and smaller squares. When she went to trim my cuticles, she cut me and then accidentally stabbed the palm of my hand with the trimmers. She was very apologetic, but it still hurt quite a lot. The paint seems very nice, and it hasn't chipped at all yet. However, my nails are way too short and completely the wrong shape. I imagine if my husband got a French gel/shellac manicure, his nails would look exactly as mine do: Not at all the feminine, lovely look I was hoping for. I'm just glad I didn't wait to try this salon until before a special event. I would have been so much more upset. I do not recommend this salon at all, even if you're in a pinch. read more

Don't go here. Waste of money. Go to Nam Nails across the Street on Ordway and get a mani-pedi combo for $5 cheaper and they'll spend more time (20 minutes more) making sure your hands and feet look great. I feel like I got robbed of $40 just now - extremely disappointed- my feet look no different than when I came in, except they did a good job with the polish. I wish I wasn't so into my book during the pedicure portion so I could've spoken up about my feet before she put the polish -- by the time I looked at my feet, it was too late - when I asked her about it, she said she tried - um, if you call scrubbing feet for 20 seconds effort, you shouldn't be charging what you do for a pedi. A good friend recommended this place so I tried it. I will not be going back. The place was clean. I was there early in the morning on a Saturday. I told the woman, Tina, that this was my first time at Toe Tally. I was more than underwhelmed. I received a very sloppy buff manicure (nails are noticeably different lengths) and an ok pedicure. I questioned it when Tina told me my tie polish was dry but she assured me it was. It was not dry so by the time I got home, my polish was completed mushed up/ruined. To add insult to injury, my heels were rougher than when I went in. My experience was not the same as other reviewers, sad to say. read more

expensive! I went in and said I just wanted a fast manicure, no massage. She offered a polish change, which normally is a cheaper option, but they still do the filing and actual nail care. She literally took one swipe over my nails with a file then painted them so fast and then I found out it was ten dollars!! I have pink and white acrylics and yesterday I went to Toe Tally Nails to get them filled. I was so disappointed. When I first arrived I was told twice that the cost would be $40.00. When I left however the nail technician charged me $45.00. Julie was the tech that worked on my nails. She took a call in the middle of working on my nails and told the person on the phone to come in 5 minutes. I was worried because I knew she had more than 5 minutes of work to do. She completely rushed and did not file nor smooth down my nails. I had to file them myself when I got home. They are still very lumpy on top. Also, you can clearly see the gap between the cuticle and the acrylic from before. Typically when you get acrylics the technician will smooth down the acrylic after applying so that it looks more natural. Julie completely skipped this part. She applied the acrylic, made me wash my hands and immediately put the clear gel on. They look terrible. For $45 for a fill I was expecting great work. I had gone to Mimosa the time before and they were absolutely gorgeous. I will definitely go back to Mimosa next time. read more

I stopped by this week after having several bad experiences at other salons in this area and was blown away by my experience. My tech, Lynh was so friendly and attentive, and incredibly experienced and skilled at her work. My mani turned out perfect.The salon itself is a little small but it's clean, calming and bright and they have a big selection of colors. The prices are slightly higher than their nearby competitors but it's well worth the extra few dollars per service for the quality of the technicians. The only thing that I wish would have gone smoother was tipping. I didn't have any cash and definitely had to persuade the person ringing me up to add it to my card. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be back to try a pedi next time too. read more

This was the absolute WORST gel manicure I have ever gotten in the DC area. Not only were the personnel extremely rude, but they lied about their prices. When I called on the phone, a gel was one price, and when I went to pay they said it was $10 more. I will never go back here. I was in the shopping center doing errands and though I'd pop into the nail place for a quick manicure. At first glance the place is really nice, clean, everything up to date and also well lit. Nevertheless, once I sat down I realized that my manicurist wasn't really paying attention as she started doing things out of order (as in my nails were already wet and then she filed them) as well as the fact that she cut me really badly on one of my cuticles. She didn't apologize, just kept going along, put a special liquid on it to stop bleeding, and continued to put hand cream in the cut as well as rubbing it intensely with the warm cloth. Once we were finished and I was already under the UV light drying, I could see that parts of my nails were jagged as well as my cut was now open and bleeding again. She did disinfect her tools before and after my use, but her overall demeanor/lack of professionalism kind of canceled out anything good from the facilities. Will not be going back. read more

I absolutely love this place!! Being in the city, I have found it difficult to find a good, cheap place for a mani/pedi. Having just checked out the Cleveland Park area, I was intrigued by all of the great reviews of Nam Posh and their cheap prices. Sign me up! However, I found my experience to just horrific. Not friendly, very rushed, and extremely rude when I asked for a touch up on the botched original job. I was so displeased when I left I vowed never to go again. So upset, in fact, that I needed to get them fixed that day. So I head over to the new salon in the plaza across the street - ToeTally Nails. I was pleasantly surprised. Being only 5$ more than the other place, I received one of the best manicures I have ever had. Lina was the best...friendly, talkative, efficient, and great at what she does. I will continue to visit this place regardless of where I end up in the DC Metro area!! read more
