I mean seriously and he had the nerve to yell at me. I'm blown.

OMG!!!!! This place is the absolute worst. It's DATED!! OLD! Dusty! & Filthy. I should have turned right around and left seeing that I was the only customer in the salon. The pedicure wasn't HORRIBLE but it wasn't AMAZING either. I have dry cuticles and am accustomed to people spending a lot of time on that. He hardly took anything off my cuticles. I wasn't upset being that I came to this place in a crunch & I didn't have all day to be serviced. The end result of the pedicure was decent enough for a few days. Next stop... acrylic fill with gel polish. He starts drilling the previous gel off. All is well until he's about go prime my nails for the fill-in acrylic. I had to stop him and let him know that he left 1/2 of my nail with old gel color. He said he thought it was ombré. Back to more drilling. This time he burned me 3x with the drill. OUCH. Red spots in my nails. Finally the majority of the gel is off. He says I have some "blue" under my nail. Apparently moisture was underneath my old acrylic and fungus has started to build. TOTALLY NOT HIS FAULT. He said he would fix it I said fine. He chipped away on 3 of my nails that had the fungus or whatever. He then drilled everything smooth again and stated the fill. Whole time I'm thinking I should have these nails taken off BUT I have a big event tomorrow. Fill done. Polish time. The polish isn't looking too cute. Now I am able see how wavy the acrylic is and how clumpy and uneven the gel is. Looks like a 5th grader did these nails. At this point I am SUPER annoyed. Paid Left Thought NO. I don't have $60 to just give away. I went back inside. Complained. The ladies didn't say much because they knew as well as I do that my nails are horrible. The older guy who did my nails gets upset and starts screaming and yelling and threatened to call the police. It was an entire scene. I suggested maybe he take a class and they clean up that dump of a nail shop. ITS HORRIBLE

I made an appointment with Johnny for a full acrylic set with an almond shape and milky white color and they came out beautifully. However, I realized they were too long for me so texted him a few days later asking if he could trim them. He said yes with no hesitation and did not charge me extra. I had a great experience with Johnny and he is incredibly talented!

Polish doesn't go all the way to the cuticle. Very uneven, lumpy in some areas, had base coat over fingers..

I really wanted to like Nam's because of the convenient location right off of Cleveland Park metro but was tremendously disappointed by my manicure. I came in around noon on a Tuesday and despite the lack of other customers, I was handed off twice to different manicurists so that they could take care of their regulars. Cool. The trimming and filing (seesaw) was done quickly and haphazardly. Paint on my nails did not start from the cuticle line. There were so many empty spaces that i had to repeatedly ask for them to be filled in. Once i stepped outside feeling a huge sense of regret, I was shocked at the color of my polish. Inside it had looked grayish blue, but clearly the lighting was not bright enough for me to see that it was a baby blue and had almost no shine. For $20? Go somewhere else. They also charge an extra $2 if you use card.

This shop is under new management by my favorite nail tech Johnny he's the best. I'm always satisfied with his work. He never disappoints me.

I have been using this shop for about 14 years, before Nam took it over from Elegant Nails and renamed it. Nancy, the new owner of Nam's Posh Nails is doing a great job. I am very particular in my mani/pedi standards, and usually get a gel manicure. Nancy has personally done my nails many times since taking over the store, and is very conscientious and quick. Normally, I choose something rather conservative, but when I don't, she's patient and good at helping choose colors, and even did a beautiful red/white/blue gel design for me a few days before July 4 that got many compliments from my friends and coworkers, and that will easily last through Bastille Day. I'll try to post a photo. Moreover, Nancy takes pride in the shop and has been fixing it up with new, comfortable pedicure chairs, chandeliers, and stations for storing a now extended array of polish choices from multiple companies. She has instituted new safety measures (such as disposable plastic liners for the pedicure tubs), in addition to the autoclave. I have paid attention to safety since the shop came under new ownership, and the employees always unseal from the plastic a new set of tools for each customer, and wash the tub after a pedicure. Nancy and her staff are always cheerful, and she often stays late after her 8pm closing to make sure all of her customers are taken care of and walk out happy. I have also had Holly do my nails, and she is also excellent and quick. It's important to support the local neighborhood places! True to guidance from fellow Yelpers, Nam's is located on Ordway on the same side as St. Arnold's. I almost missed it because I thought it was farther down the street, but it's right behind the restaurant and upstairs. I followed a girl upstairs for my 5 pm eyebrow wax appointment. She requested an eyebrow wax as well (crap!) and a pedicure. Nam turned to me and asked what I wanted in a nice way. I told her I had a 5 pm eyebrow wax appointment, and she took me first. Yay! Eyebrow wax was good. I think I prefer the treatment from V Nails in Columbia Heights for a couple of reasons: 1.) it's cheaper ($10 at Nam's, $8 at V's), 2.) the technician at V's takes a little more time and sculpts and thins, and 3.) it's closer and slightly easier for me to get to. That said, I thought Nam was very nice and polite. She was appreciative of my 20% tip although fished out change from her wallet... As others have noted, they do have boxes to keep your tools. The boxes were neatly stacked and labeled by the door when you come in. The environment for 5 pm on a Thursday was nice and quiet. I like that. Nam did call me at 5:08 pm when I had not showed up, but I didn't realize this until I left at 5:20 pm, so be prompt! Other than that, great place to check out if you're in the 'hood.

DO NOT go here. I came here and paid for an SNS dip manicure (which is supposed to last 2 weeks) and my nails were falling apart 2 days later. It's a cheap price but you get what you pay for. They don't do refunds and can only offer to "fix" your nails with the same crappy materials they used the first time that fall apart only days later. Had to live with my nails falling apart for a week until I had time to get to my regular salon. The owner literally screamed at me when I tried to see what they could do to help. I guess this is what I get for trying new things... huge mistake and a waste of money, I will not be going back.

I had a GREAT first experience here with Tammy, when I recieved a gel manicure. I went back last weekend for another, with a gentleman this time. He was doing a great job, and then it started to get busy.... so he rushed through the rest of my manicure. It's been 4 days and my gel manicure is already chipping all over. Very, very disappointed as the first one lasted 3 weeks with not a single chip in it.

This is my favorite nail place in Cleveland park. Nancy always does a great job with gel manicures as well as powder. I highly recommend. Picture is of my most recent powder manicure. .

If you're looking for a gel manicure or pedicure, Nancy's your girl. Nam's is my favorite nail salon in DC. You can get a gel mani/pedi for $78 and the mani will last 3 weeks, and toes a month. Go! You won't regret it.

When I first got my nails done. So pretty!

Unfortunately this place, which had been my go-to for nails for more than a decade, appears to be closed. Phone number is not in service.

Full set acrylic is starting at 15,99$ . Shape is extra 5$ more.

Under new management, the pedicure is cost 19,99$

How much is a gel manicure here? Do they do SNS? Thanks all!

A new gel manicure is $28 but if you also need your old gel polish removed it's a few dollars more--$32 I think. Not sure what SNS is, sorry!

this place is very dependent on the threader(is that what they are called?) i like this location…read morebecause of its proximity and plenty of free parking nearby, some of the threaders(yeah im just gonna keep using that term) are good, but some are exquisitely bad. the one today was in the latter category. i have full, thick brows and they look good even when they are NOT threaded(hey i tried to be humble, but ...it...didnt..work..). on occasion, i will get them threaded for a more refined look. the threader today did not do that. one of my brows got hair removed excessively and looked uneven by comparison and there were no sharp lines. i did point this out to the threader(who willl remain nameless) who insisted everything was good. she also applied lotion to my brows without asking me first, which is made my face all itchy and i washed it off immediately. i usually get an astringent like witch hazel, which P.E. has too but the threader usually will ask me first what I want. gee, gosh damn , is that so hard? anyway, once a threader messes up, i do NOT want them to fix it, bc that usually makes it worse...way worse. so i will have to get creative with my pencil and mascara brush. and honestly, im very irritated. im putting my pic from today and one from another salon where i got my brows done before.picture is worth a thousand brows after all. btw, i PREFER the P.E. in tysons corner mall, i have NEVER had any issues there.

TL;DR (long version in the photos)--I never write reviews of businesses, let alone small businesses…read morebut I am hoping that doing this will save someone else what I went through. I visited Semra's studio twice and she gave me a severe allergic reaction (Google PPD allergic reaction and HD Brows and BrowSculpt) that left me with severe hives on my face and extreme swelling of the eyes/ face for which I had to see three doctors and had to use six separate medications. It took me over a month to fully recover (I visited her salon Sept. 17, and am only now fully recovered as of late Oct.). After I told her about it, the only apology she gave me was "sorry to hear about it :(" I asked her for a refund and she refused, not even refunding me the tip or the cost of the service that caused the allergic reaction. On top of that, when I sent her the pictures, her reaction most generously could be understood as ignorance about a very common allergy that occurs due to the chemicals she uses in the line of work she's been in for ~30 years and at worst as accusing me of lying. She refused to take any accountability even when her actions seriously harmed a customer. I'll let you draw whatever conclusions you believe appropriate from my experience.

I use to get them done every 8 weeks, but now that my lashes are longer I noticed they can last up to 10-12 weeks. I also noticed my lashes got so much longer after I was doing these lifts for a year. Semra is amazing. She's always gentle with my lashes and takes amazing care to make sure they look good. I always leave satisfied with my lashes. My eyes are usually very sensitive as well. When I use to get regular lash lifts, my eyes would get irritated. But with the yumi lash lifts, my eyes aren't irritated. I think the chemicals are more gentle than regular lash lifts. Also I love the natural look of these lashes. They're so curly and long and just naturally pretty. I also got my brows done twice here. I usually don't get my brows done because I don't really care about my brows as much as I do my lashes lol, but Semra made my brows look really nice as well. I was impressed by how different I look with them shaped better. I will think about doing my brows more often here
