This cute nail spot is located upstairs. My daughter and I had gel pedis. "Jack" did an amazing job being professional and gentle with his hands. The massage at end was perfect! My daughter had a lady who appeared to be training. She was very sweet. We didn't mind if it took a few more minutes bc of her training. I strolled into this fantastic salon whilst visiting DC for a few days. I needed a quick manicure. I've done the math and in my lifetime, I've probably had 1,000 and this was perhaps the best. She took her time, took great attention to detail, and the price was very reasonable. It does not look like a five star four seasons salon but the quality of their work is just as good and I think much better than manicures costing three times the price. I followed my long-time nail technician, Emma, here and it has been a great experience so far! When you walk into the building, you have to climb a flight of stairs to reach the salon, and it isn't clearly marked so be careful. It's not the fanciest salon I've been to, but it's well-kept and clean/sanitary. The salon can be a bit crowded and tight at times due to the size of the space, but the service is always top notch. Once seated with your technician, they have a nice selection of beverages for you to choose from while receiving your services. There is also a good selection of color options - if there's something you want, they likely have it. I appreciate that they use disposable liners in their pedicure tubs and sealed/sterilized utensils for each client. Pricing is on par for the area, but please note that there is a credit/debit card fee. You can pay with Cash/Venmo/etc for no additional charge and they make it convenient by providing QR codes to electronically pay. My tech Emma cares about what her clients want and/or need and strives to be sure that you are not only happy with how your nails look, but also that your nails are healthy! I've been getting my nails done for over 25 years and Emma is the absolute BEST technician I've ever had. I can EASILY go 3 weeks in-between visits with no lifting or peeling of my nails. I've never had a technician that cared like she does to make sure it is right and will last. Emma has never attempted to "upsell" me and, in fact, will tell me if I DON'T need something when I ask. I honestly can't say enough good things about her, she is simply AMAZING! Be warned, parking is pretty much non-existent in the immediate area. There is parking there, but it's been fully occupied every time I've gone. With that being said, if you're willing to walk a few blocks, there is street parking to be found. The salon is also just a couple of blocks from the Dupont Circle Metro station if that's your preferred mode of transportation. Overall, I've enjoyed my visits to Famous Nails Spa and wanted to share because quality nail salons/techs are REALLY hard to come by so Give Famous Nails Spot a try! read more

I've been on the lookout for good nail salons since my go to location closed early in the pandemic. I've found a few that were fine, but nothing that made my day. Famous Nails made my day. It was easy to book an appointment and they were flexible when I was running late and needed to push it a half hour. The salon space is a bit cramped, but I didn't feel crowded. The tech (I'm sorry I forget her name!) was fantastic. Helped me decide on what colors to do my nails and was super friendly. I really enjoyed chatting with her. She was able to navigate a couple issues I had and made everything look great. I also enjoyed that the manicure and pedicure was at the same station so I got to enjoy the massage chair for my whole appointment. It's also a great value and easy to get to on the Metro. It's not an accessible building though. read more

If you do not use the gel polish, they will get mad at you and not give pleasant good service and instead just mean and not friendly. Then she explained to me why I should pay more, I don't have to wait for it to dry and walked away. It took two minutes to dry and she wasn't attending to me anyway. I paid $52 + 1.50 convenience fee ( incl. fix nail & gel removal(clear) & French). I am so tired of nail technicians telling me what I should do with my money to benefit them. An update on these horrible nails- two weeks later they've grown out and you can see even more how horrible the polish and shape is. Black specs of dirt embedded in the polish and the gel, massively misshapen, and one nail broke (I had my previous set for 3 weeks and they were still perfect when I came back to have this hack job done). Will never go here again. read more

Well, It has been awhile that I haven't been at Famous nails spa due to my work schedules. I went back to see Kelly recently and I am still LOVE, LOVE her job, her personality and her professionalism. I was witnessed her dealing with a complaining customer because of the customer's nails crooked. Omg, kelly spent time on that client and asked her to look closely and in different angles so kelly could glue the way that the tip was supposed to be straight on the client's vision. Omg!!! I almost lost my temper to watch that. The client was so rude that I was convinced she would write a bad review anyway for famous nail spa. I have been going to Famous Nails Spa for a little while now and have received a full set acrylic with gel polish and two acrylic fills with gel polish and I can confidently say that I recommend this place for acrylic services. Not only are they moderately priced but they are so attentive to detail. I have never left feeling unsatisfied with my nails and have always had a pleasant experience. I'm went here as an out of town customer that has had an overall very busy summer with little time to deal with my hands and feet. At home I would have at least grabbed my foot rasp before going and removed some old nail polish. None the less I put my pride aside and just went. Angel did an amazing job - attention to every detail - and used the foot rasp thoroughly. I actually texted my daughter while in the shop to tell her that I wish Angel could be my regular technician. Saved the day while I was on vacay in DC. I scraped my newly manicured fingernail on the zipper of my purse. Eek! After calling a few other salons nearby, who refused to see me because they hadn't done my manicure in the first place, Famous Nails agreed on very short notice. It was around the corner from my hotel and a quick walk. It took maybe 10 minutes to rectify the situation. They only charged me $5, so I tipped $15 for their troubles. $20 well spent! read more

So thankful I found Kelly. After trying multiple people and places in the area and being frustrated with not only the quality of gel manicures but the total disregard to nail health when removing gels I was about to give up. Came here one night because it was close to where I was having dinner and so glad I did. Now won't go anywhere else. When Kelly does my gels they last 3 weeks doesn't matter if light or dark polish. And even after 3 weeks they aren't even peeling up! She is meticulous from beginning to end and removes old gel polish so gently yet efficiently I'm never worried about the health of my nails.
