I'm gone to many nail places in my life, and I would definitely recommend this place. They always do a good job, and unlike some places, they recheck the polish and make sure it's not on your cuticles before sending you the dryer. I get my eyebrows and upper lip waxed and have no complaints. I avoided it for years because I had such a bad experience many years ago at another venue. I tried it here and have been getting waxes done ever since. Also, I found that everyone is really nice. Some of the ladies have limited English-speaking skills but enough to communicate about what you want. Also, one of the ladies asked about my pregnant sister because she had remembered our conversation from weeks earlier. I had completely forgotten about the conversation, and it was so nice that she had remembered! I was really impressed. It's good service for the price. read more

This is my neighborhood go-to salon (in a neighborhood with A LOT of mani-pedi competition.) The team that works there is super nice, accommodating and efficient. They have a great selection of OPI and Essie (both gel and regular) nail polishes. In particular, I like that they are always well stocked and not out of Ballet Slippers and Wicked. When it comes to waxing, Jenny is my favorite. She's quick, thorough and the least awkward it can be. It obviously doesn't feel pleasant, but her technique minimizes the pain and gets the job done well and fast. On the mani-pedi front, they are all good. I will usually just walk in without an appointment, though on the weekends it gets busier. Also, good massage chairs and selection of magazines. Everything you need to get it done well at a fair price (for this town.) NOTE: Bring cash for tips. As is typical, they don't want to put tips on the credit cards. I went to get my nails done for spring break. i wanted gel nails with flowers I brought a reference picture. in total my nails were $50. in the end the flowers looked awful it was done with what seemed to be acrylic paint from an art store. they did not match the colors I wanted at all. the gel is outside of the nail. they look like a kindergartner did them. it was awful and I don't recommend going there for a gel manicure. read more

I hate to disagree with the other reviewers but, despite their truly awful name, I really enjoyed my pedi at Toe Tally. The place is new, bright and airy, and has a decent amount of space between the pedi chairs. Plus, it's literally steps from the Cleveland Park metro, which makes it a really convenient after-work stop. Full discolsure: I had my service done during the middle of the day on a Friday, so there were no walk-ins. I can imagine dealing with that would be really irritating. read more

I was here over the weekend, and the salon was very busy. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. I made an appointment and my technician was ready within 10 minutes of my appointment time which I appreciated. Also on the big plus side, I asked for nail art upon arrival rather than when making the appointment and was accommodated. Both pedicure and manicure felt rushed but the manicure looks great, another plus. Apart from the rushing, there were two negatives, first, my toes were sprayed, wrapped and socks and shoes put back on my feet before the polish was dry so I now have a marbled effect I was not looking for (haha). My bigger concern was that I saw a nail technician taking tools that they had just been using and putting them into one of those blue paper pouches that I thought implied sterilization, and seal it. I did not see her use them with another client, so best case scenario this was just her way of storing but...yikes. A second technician was coughing and sneezing while folding towels without gloves. All could be fine, but it made me wonder whether I would return due to sanitation concerns. read more

this was hands down the most terrifying, stressful and hazardous experience i've ever had getting a manicure. firstly, they DO NOT SANITIZE, which is unhealthy and dangerous for the following reason: the moron doing my nails cut me so bad i was bleeding for 10 minutes. she squirted some alcohol on it and proceeded to rub and paint over the gushing blood. i had to stop her twice to ask to wipe the blood off. secondly, a blind man with nonexistent motor skills could have painted my nails better. upon close examination i discovered that nail polish was all over my cuticles and under my nails. the polish was uneven and had bumps and folds all over it. i had to redo the whole thing myself after i got home. the yoga lesson i got prior to this ordeal and all its benefits were utterly ruined for me. DO NOT GO HERE. it is an awful unsanitary place that hires at least one unprofessional technician and you do not want to be the person that ends up in her grip. read more

Oh goodie a brand new Salon! What brought me in was the 20% off grand opening sign. The place had just been opened 2 weeks. I walked in and liked what I saw. Brand new foot spas and nice brand new massage chairs. Chose the Manicure and pedicure (it was a tad bit more, but heck I was getting 20% off! I could afford it) Was whisked to a nice massage chair and my pedicure started our right away awww nice warm water...until the walk-ins. The manicurist no longer paid attention to my pedicure instead was too involved in talking to walk-ins and asking them to sign their name in their log and to promising the clients that they will be assisted in less than 10mins! She nicked one of my toes because she was too busy turning her head around to see who was walking in the door! Worried for my toes was unable to enjoy the rest of my pedicure she was just NOT concentrating. My manicure was rushed, my cuticles were not cleaned properly. The paint job was poor and uneven! (remember she had to get to her other victims in 10mins!) Was not walked to the drying station instead I was left at the manicurist station with just the tiny fan blowing on my nails. So much for giving a new place a try. Yes, I saved 20% off, but got a nicked toe, semi-dry nails and a bad manicure. Will not go back. I learned my lesson I will not cheat on my manicurist ever ever again! I'm going back to the place across the street. read more

I've gone back to Toe Tally a few times since my first review. Here is the update, it can be a bit inconsistent depending on who you get but I will say that twice with two different women I have gotten a very thorough pedicure. I would say pedis are pretty much the specialty here although a lot of people also come for gel manicures. I also recommend coming early in the day because although they will still service you right before closing they will not do as thorough of a job since the owner (I'm assuming) is waiting to cash out the register. Be sure to bring a cash tip since the ATM down the street charges $3.00. They take walk in appointments and are extremely professional. read more

The only thing going for this place is location. I have gone in twice when I was desperate. This past weekend I went in for a manicure. First the woman kept trying to upsell me on gel/shellac or a pedicure despite the fact that I kept repeating that I only wanted a manicure. The towel had nail polish stains on it - I wasn't sure if it had been cleaned. She did not completely take off my old nail polish and did most of my manicure with my hands soapy. Then when I got up to wash the lotion off my hands, as she instructed, before she did the polish she put in her headphones and preceded to take a call while she polished my nails. As she was finishing up, one of her "regulars" walked in and she quickly dismissed me. She also told me to put my regular manicured hand under A light, which I had to ask if it was UV. RUDENESS and mediocre manicure - Not worth the convenience. I should have walked out. read more

came here for the first time because my normal salon didn't have availability. I usually pay $35 for a full set acrylic gel but here they charge $50. I didn't mind the price, I know that $50 is standard in this area, but I was hoping to get the same professional experience I'm used to for that price. long story short, the man who did my nails filed down the acrylic so hard that he broke skin on my finger. I told him it burned badly but he said it was fine. he applied so much of the adhesive for the nails that it spilled out and dried onto my finger. I've been spending the last day trying to peel it off my skin. I also noticed my tech putting one of the tools he used on me in a drawer rather than one of those sterilizer machines which made me question how many other people it was used on before me without being properly sanitized. finally I noticed a lot of the other technicians waking around barefoot which also just seemed unprofessional and unsanitary. the manicure itself was decent besides the messy glue around my nails. I was hoping to make this my new salon as it is very close to my new apartment, however given this experience and the price difference, i would rather make the hike to Adams Morgan for a sanitary, professional manicure at a great price. read more

I ended up here with a couple of friends for an afternoon of pedicures and wasnt really impressed. The pedicure itself was decent, but the staff were quite rude. They seemed annoyed that my friends and I, who were the only ones in the salon, were chatted while we got our pedicures and they constantly were yelling at each other over our conversation. This was a really big turn off for me since we were there for a relaxing afternoon pedi stop. I also got a french pedi and am not thrilled with how they shaped the white part. I sort of feel like it is about as good and well shaped as I could have done myself. I will say that my pedi has lasted a solid two weeks at this point which is impressive. read more

Only plus: the place looks nicer than Nam's and they have a bigger selection of gel polish. But I will not come back. I'll stick with Nam's where the polish lasts longer for $28. read more

I went to Toetally Nails to get my upper lip waxed. I told the tech that I have sensitive skin. She was not gentle and I ended up with burn marks. It stings and doesn't look good! I've been coming to this spot for five years and my only hesitation in posting a review is giving away my little secret. This spot is such a great little weekend escape when I want a great pedi with hand foot massage in a new massage chair. I generally go with a girlfriend and we've always enjoyed a frozen yogurt with the weekend treat - but the yogurt spot closed (so now I'll have to improvise!). The staff is lovely - consistent and do a really great job. Even see some CNN reporters in the shop. I love celebrity spotting! You do need a cash tip - so heads up. And you can skip the spa massage and just get extra massage for $1 per minute. It's totally worth it! read more

I would not recommend Cleveland Park Day Spa or Toe Tally Nails (if one place is business they call over to the other nail salon for a nail technician to come over). I requested to get my nails Shellac (the nail polish last up to 14 days without losing shine or shimmer) but after 5 days my nail polish chipped on all my nails. I went back in to do it again and the same thing happened 2 days later. Bottom line it is not worth the $35.00 plus tip and the time wasted for this service. read more

I happened to get her the first time I walked in and now I ask for her by name. They accept walk-ins and there is parking, but free only for one hour (I think) with validation. Prices are reasonable, and service was quick. I wasn't completely satisfied with the quality of my gel manicure (my nails weren't entirely covered, there were bubbles in the top coat, and one of the nails chipped within one day). I asked for a regular manicure and they literally took a layer of my nail off. Wrecked my nails and never going back.

I went in and had to change spots 3 times because they wanted me to move or go to a different technician or do something differently, annoying but for good nails I would put up with it. She also used the e-file to grind down way too much on my natural nails until it hurt and she cut my skin with it on a few fingers. I got gel polish on acrylic nails and she made me put the acrylic under the uv light without any gel at all, which doesn't really do anything but she wouldn't let me drink because she wanted my hand in the cure light. I left and when I got home and looked at the nails I noticed that they were all wildly uneven, some were super thin and some were really lumpy and thick. I was annoyed because at their prices they should have been better. I decided not to do anything about it until a few hours later because of the chip in the picture, it's all the way down to my natural nail, so both the acrylic and gel came off. I am going back ASAP to try to get it fixed or get my money back so I can go somewhere that will give me good nails. read more

So I've had some great pedicures here. I also had a couple bikini waxes that the ladies did a great job. However, I had BeBe do a bikini wax for me this weekend and it was the WORST wax I've ever gotten. I literally have bruises and broken blood vessels around my bikini line and she missed a bunch of spots. I'm not going to able to wear a bathing suit until they heal. She had to rewax some spots multiple times and I can't describe the pain. I had to tell her to stop at some points because she just didn't know what she was doing. It was AWFUL and I will never return for another wax. When checking out she tried to overcharge me $10, it was absurd. read more
