I went twice when they opened and had really mediocre mani/pedis where either my daughter or I had to wait a long time, and then they rushed through and were not gentle at all. They were very agressive treatments. A few years passed and I thought I'd go to them just to have my gel polish removed, and they completely destroyed my nails. Used the dremel before and after the polish remover sat on my nails with foil, and the dremel completely shaved down my nails so thin and caused indentations at the base of my nails so now I have to wait a few months to have them grow out to my strong, nice nails again. Very sweet people but no attention to detail. I went in for a full set and the wrong size zip was applied crookedly and clearly didn't fit my nail. It was space between the nail tip and my nail bed so the nails literally just lifted up. the nails itself after the acrylic was applied the lady did not fix the shape and had some of my fingers lopsided. I got my nails done Saturday and today is Monday and they fell off. I paid $140 in total for a gel pedicure (which was fine) and a full set with gel polish. I would not go back. It was a waste of money and time when they fell of 2 days later!! I did speak up and say I did not like those specific things but I was not being heard and was told to not worry about it. read more

Well, if you want to end up at the ER with a hand surgeon cutting open an abcès to clean an antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection as a result of a manicure, you go there! I got a manicure that turned into an awful (and painful!!) nightmare. After 2 courses of antibiotics (because the bacteria is resistant to antibiotics), 2 weeks of pain, the infection turned into an abcès and a hand surgeon had to go in, clean and try to control the damage. A week post-surgery (that I had to take off from work!), I am still struggling, and it doesn't seem to be over yet. Please don't go there. Their service anyway is not that great (i was going there for convenience, not more). And for the Palisades Nails folks, CLEAN YOUR GOD DAMN MATERIAL, ESPECIALLY THE BOWLS WHERE YOU DIP YOUR CUSTOMERS' HANDS as the bacteria culture showed that it's the type that lives in water. For the past year, I have gone to this nail salon dispite constantly being disappointed due its locational convenience, but recently I went and received a bacterial infection throughout my finger. In addition my friend and I both complained 10 minutes in, that we disliked the color and it was not what we had originally asked for, and they refused to allow us to change our nails. We arrived after the opening hours stated online and on their door. The lady greeted us very rudely as we walked in, and proceeded to tell us we couldn't get our nails done for another hour. She stated there was no other people working inside. We walked back inside, and were greeted by another woman after being told no one else was there. They made us leave and wait in the snow. We called the nail technician online, and he stated that all the technicians were there and we were welcome to come in. The nail technicians were in fact not ready, even an hour after opening time. Friendly and relaxing neighborhood nail salon. It's a touch pricier than comparable salons in the city but it's the Palisades and there aren't that many alternatives close by. For the convenience of being right in my neighborhood and usually being able to walk in on weekends, I'm okay with a little premium. My pedicures have varied in quality and the foot and leg massage is pretty lacking, but all of the pedicures look good, last a month or more, and the staff members are very nice. Spacious and pleasant ambiance, a great place to enjoy a quiet break and the massage chair! As mentioned in other reviews, tips are cash only, so plan ahead. read more

I went here for SNS Dip on my fingernails. The Nail Technician removed my existing Dip Polish and applied the new Dip color on nice and pretty. Why I am giving a negative review is because my skin was clipped badly while she was cleaning up my nails with the cuticle nipper. It started to bleed and then she used HER OWN NAIL to scrape and wipe away the blood. (Insert Yuck emoji.) I immediately pulled back my hand and just asked if I could go wash it with soap and water. Over the next week, the area became really red and was tender to touch, but has resolved now. Yall, I'm so happy that I did not get a serious infection or something. I won't be going back there because of that. Other than that, the SNS Dip nail lasted and my nail was shaped good. Their customer service was good, too. read more

I was staying in the area and my daughter and I were looking for a place to get relaxing manicures. I got gels and they did an adequate job, but I had to ask for the hand massage. I really wanted to like this salon because it is so close to my home but the tools look so unsanitary during my visit today that I'm on Yelp looking for a new go-to salon. The tools looked questionable during my previous visits but I disregarded it. In case you are wondering what I observed - nail files and buffers are so overused that they are white with nail particles on them and the cuticle cutters/pushers are simply thrown into a basket (they could have been sanitized previously but judging by the condition of their nail files I highly doubt it!). The technician was so rough today that she tore off a part of my cuticle and made me bleed (thumb still hurts). After reading some of the other reviews, I hope I don't get an infection! read more

I did Sns manicure 10days ago , I asked for white, and she put the wrong white on my nails, after 4 days one of my nails was broken. After 10days, the colors changed in "yellow" . I went back to "palisades NAils and spa" and I asked to fix my nails and the color. The lady wanted to charged me for a mistake she made! She was very unpleasant and refused everything !!!!! I love this place! First of all they always do a fantastic job on my nails! I'm very particular on making sure my appearance is the best it can be and the nails add an extra boost of pizazz to my look. I like to get dipped fake nails with extra designs and/or additions to them. Again, they make me feel very welcome and always satified with their service. My nail tech is JAMIE, and she is in my opinion the best. She always does exactly what I want for my manidicure and is a great conversationalist. She is AWESOME! I also like to get periodic pedicures from her. She is also very skilled in waxing and massages. This place is very exceptional in the work they do and I love to support a small business while I can know that I will be satisfied at the end. JAMIE is awesome and will never let you down, which in my opinion is what you want. 10/10 and will keep visiting this place! This nail salon is really hit or miss, but lately more miss. I came in for just a gel manicure and I got asked more than three times if that was all I wanted - so annoying. My manicurist did not ask what shape I wanted my nails and forgot to prep one of my hands for the gel because she was talking to me. I had to remind her. I'm not too impressed with the look of my nails whatsoever. They look incredibly amateur and there are obvious areas on my nails that the polish didn't cover. I have truly rarely had this kind of sub-par experience in any salon, especially with gel. It's completely unacceptable for $35. I received absolutely no hand massage or lotion and my manicure was finished before the other customer to my right. I will not be returning. read more

I have been a client of Palisades Nails and Spa since they opened 8 years ago, and I have had excellent pedicures, (an occasional manicure), and brow waxes consistently. This is a busy place, for a good reason, but pedicures and treatments are never rushed, the technicians sense when you want to chat or want to just sit, and are very detail oriented. Today I opted for a collagen pedicure, and it was truly amazing. The delicate sense of lavender, how my legs felt afterwards (relaxed, with a nice luster to my skin, a the tiredness that I felt before the pedicure started, was gone after the collagenspa treatment. The pedicure was finished with the bright green OPI summer colors that are so in fashion at the moment, beautifully applied by Jenny, (who is the owner, and has amazing skills when it comes to pedicures and manicure) and left the salon a completely different woman then the one who entered. read more

I was in DC for a business trip and decided last minute that I needed to get my nails done. This shop surprised me in an awesome way of customer service. I walked in late at night (around 6:30pm) and they still took me in for a pedicure and gel manicure. My technician I think her name is Lizzie (sorry if I got it wrong) was great. Her communication skill was very good, it's so easy to talk to her and tell her what I needed for my nails. We ended having a nice conversation about life and God while I enjoyed my relaxing pedicure lol Definitely coming back to see Lizzie next time I'm in town. Keep up with good work guys. read more

I love this place! It's a little pricier than the neighboring salons, but only by a couple dollars for any given service. I usually get a wax (Brazilian and/or eyebrow), manicure, and pedicure and I've had great experiences every time. I come to this salon every 3-4 weeks without fail and I always look forward to it. I've gotten my nails done by a couple of nail technicians, but my favorite is always Linda. She always goes the extra mile and gives great hand and foot massages. She makes sure my massage chair is always turned on and she constantly checks in with me to make sure I like the nail color, that the water feels right, and that the massage is good. She also does my waxes as well and she's always very thorough. The last time I went, I made my appointment towards the end of the day and unexpectedly added a manicure to my list of services for the evening. Linda did a great job and let me stay 30 minutes passed closing so that she could finish up and I could dry the polish all the way through. The salon itself is spacious, clean, and relaxing. I usually make appointments, but even when I walk in or bring a friend with me they always have room to take me. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the neighborhood. After going to every salon in the area for various services, I strongly feel that Palisades is the best one around. read more

This place has been open for a few months and is located right next to my house so I decided to try it out for a mani/pedi before going on a beach trip. I called at 5 and made an appointment for 5:30 that same day with no problem at all. I hardly ever get mani/pedis (maybe three times a year) but think I will be getting them more often now. For $65, I got a regular pedicure and a gel manicure (my first). The pedicure was great - comfortable massage chairs and the front desk woman helped me pick out a bright color for my toes. The manicure started off fine but the manicurist cut my cuticles a bit too much and even some of the skin around my nails started to bleed. It was pretty painful. The actual nail painting went well and a week later, most of my gel polish is still on with a few chips near the nail bed but nowhere else. I chose a light color so that it would look good longer. When I get a normal manicure, my polish usually chips the next day so gel is now the way to go for me. My nails were filed pretty short and some of the shaping was uneven, which I wasn't too thrilled about since I had been trying to keep my nails longer specifically for the appointment. I guess I should have spoken up and said something up front. Lessons learned! I will be going back to have my nails done here, and will make sure to speak up about cuticle cutting and nail shape! read more

This is a great nail salon! I will definitely be going back. I went for the first time on 1/9 and was immediately impressed with the lovely modern decor. Its very clean and I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked in (they greeted everyone the same way-you can tell they want your business). Sophia was my tech and she was great! She was very personable and patient-it took me a minute to decide how I wanted my gel french mani done. She took her time doing my nails and was very thorough. I've been faithful to this neighborhood business for a long time, but lately I've been very unhappy with my nails. Today I went in for a regular pedicure and a gel manicure. I walked out on the the manicure. She cut my nails off before asking if I wanted them long or short (I wanted long). Then she didn't file them--I mean not at all. Jagged edges and long corners all over and she started to paint them (not to mention didn't clean the nail, etc.). I stopped her, said I'd pay for the pedicure (my toenails are cut at strange angles though!), but that I didn't want her to continue with the gel manicure. No one else was working in the store, so I paid and left. I'll sort it out tomorrow, but I won't be back. read more

I always leave with a good manicure and/or pedicure. Some of the staff isn't very friendly and they always ask you if you want other services. I've been asked if I want waxing (while looking at my face), even though I had threading done earlier the day. I have a little melasma on my face from pregnancy and I find it annoying they always ask if I want it waxed. Besides this one issue, which I can ignore, the end result is pretty good and I haven't yet not been able to get a manicure/pedicure when stopping by without an appointment. read more

This salon has some really nice ladies working there. I live in the neighborhood and have been going there since it opened. They have always been friendly and respectfully. Last week I took my 3 year son with me. I figured he could watch a show while I had a pedicure. He was so interested in the fact that someone was washing my feet and requested he get one too. The girls did not hesitate to make this little man happy. They took his shoes off and filled the tub with water. They cut his toe nails and gave him a massage. He loved it! He insisted on tipping them himself! I am giving them 4 stars because I don't like it that I cannot tip on my card. I need to have cash on me, which I never do usually and need to hit the bank before going. I think this policy is a bad reflection on the owner. read more

I had hoped this would be my neighborhood "go to", but alas I'm still looking! I arrived at 9:00a when they open and no one showed up to unlock the door until 9:20a. I was desperate, so I patiently waited. Manicure and pedicure was rushed and she finished both in 40 mins. People were pouring in and she was telling everyone to wait 20 mins. Staff finally showed up around 10:00-10:15 but there were a few disgruntled clients. The point is it's not worth $55 for a sloppy mani/pedi that is just mediocre. BEST PLACE EVER!! I've been getting my nails done for years now and have been to quite a few nail salons and this one is rated at the top! I've been here twice so far and have had great experiences both times. The first time I went was for a fill in (I have acrylic on my nails) over the years it's been hard to find a nail place with good techs that know how to shape my nails. Most of the places I've been have left my nails weirdly shaped or the acrylic was way to thick. My nails looked great and lasted 3 weeks with no breaks and I am rough on my nails! As far as the pedicure is concerned awesome! They use liners in the tubs and the tools are sterile. The message was very relaxing. It was an all around great experience. read more
