    Cali roll add cream cheese
    Peter M.

I decided to give this place a try despite mixed reviews. I am really glad I did! The hibachi fried rice is really good. I also ordered a Cali roll. There's an option to add cream cheese (don't threaten me with a good time) so I did! Also ordered gyoza. All in all the entire order was really good. From a takeout perspective I can highly recommend.

I used to really enjoy this place, but my recent experiences have been disappointing. On my last visit, we waited 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order, even though there were only five tables occupied...I'm like what is happening . The service has noticeably declined. To make matters worse, they bring us the food of the table next to us. The guy was " i think you guys got our food. " Alright , we had to apologize for the mix-up. Additionally, our empty dishes were left on the table without being cleared away. It's frustrating to see such a decline in service at a place I once enjoyed.

    Spicy Tuna Roll

Came here on a whim with a friend for sushi after the poke place we were going to go to was closed for the holidays. When we got there, the restaurant was completely empty. The waitress was not very friendly. She came to take our order while my friend was making a phone call and seemed frustrated when my friend asked her to come back when she was off the phone. For the food, my friend got the spicy tuna roll and the gyoza. I got a spider roll and the crazy salmon roll. Both of my rolls were just alright, neither were super flavorful and I would not order the crazy salmon roll again. I tried my friend's gyoza and it was pretty alright, but nothing that you couldn't get at any other sushi restaurant. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. Bad service and adequate (at best) food. Maybe it would be different had we had come for hibachi, but just for regular sushi, this place is worth skipping.

We literally think about this place weekly!! It is so AMAZING. I don't think I've had any bad food here. The food is also super affordable during lunch hours/different happy hours. The service is amazing and the staff are awesome. Ambiance in the dining room is good but I'm sure the hibachi room is even better! If you don't mind not having your food cooked in front of you, lunch time is the time to go

Good wide menu with items that you don't find at your mainstream japanese restaurant. More like old school Chicago Japanese. (Thinking a blend here of old Ginza and maybe some parts Sunshine.) Maybe only with the departure of those favorites we appreciate more what has stayed on. Appetizer selection is long enough to just get small plates to share. Notables: - ebi snijo (homemade shrimp ball) - hamachi jaw (if you haven't had it) - hirame no cha soba age (fried green tea noodles and whitefish rolled with seaweed) - evokes the old Ginza restaurant for me - octopus sunomono Even after three recent visits without repeat apps, there are still more we haven't had elsewhere to try. Part of the reason for that is - we get entrees too. We've been happy with: - chirashi (curious how the sashimi D differs) - Salmon Bento (D) - so many different things fun to share! - Kuni's Special - gomaee and mixed seafood sunomono, then our choice of sashimi followed by saba - nabe yaki udon is reasonable here at $13 with two tempura shrimp Know there's lots of reviews here, but as long as there is room on weekends for us we're happy to share!

Unfortunately by the time we decided on a restaurant & I arrived there it was already 12:50. I had a doctor appointment in Glenview @ 1:50 so we really didn't have much time. I really liked what I saw at this restaurant. What I saw was large dining space w/high ceilings w/stamped patterned copper ceilings and a very nice dining area w/a cool Asian theme w/very nice Asian wall murals & a great menu selection. I ended up ordering the black garlic ramen which had an excellent rich pork broth with soy base, grilled pork, bamboo shoots, sprouts, green onions, marinated egg, house-made black garlic oil and seaweed. The flavor of this broth was outstanding. The portion size was also generous. My sister ordered some fried oysters & tea. What I ordered I really enjoyed but I was really rushed because of my doctor appointment. HRS has an AYCE for $23.95 for sushi & ramen M-F from 11am - 3pm. The menu selection looks awesome . There was a live saxophone player and I loved the live flowers they had. Our waiter was extremely nice and took the time to explain the menu as well as their customer favorites. I order a Thai iced tea which wasn't bad but I prefer mine a little thicker and sweeter. It came in a thin tall glass which in theory was not a lot of drink. To start we order the chicken appetizer and fried beef on rice to share and unfortunately I did not snap a pic but these were listed under apps or shareables but the portions were extremely small. As our mains came I noticed that they were also small and each were around $20-$30 per plate. Not a bad thing if you don't eat much but I'm a big bang for buck type of gal. My family came to share and this place is a more fine dining thai restaurant which could explain the smaller portions. We ordered the pad Thai which was alright in my opinion I expected a little more flavor, the aubergine which was tossed vegetables as recommended by our waiter which was also ok not much flavor but beautiful plating though, and the coconut curry which was by far my favorite. If I were to come back here I would order that again, it was a nice light yet complex flavor profile which made me savor every bite. Overall good place for an upbeat fancier meal and I highly recommend the coconut curry braised chicken if you visit. Little pricey but that's just my opinion let me know what you guys think if you visit! Oh and they also give your receipt in a boat which they spin and leave a thank you card once you paid which was really cute.

You can grab as much sushi as you want as it passes by, but keep in mind you're charged per plate--and the cost adds up quickly if you come in really hungry. The sushi itself is okay; not bad, but not quite worth the price point in my opinion. Service was a bit lacking. You really have to be patient, particularly when it comes to checkout--it took us about 45 minutes just to close out. That definitely put a damper on the experience. Overall, it's a cool concept and worth trying once for the novelty, but for us it's more of a one-and-done spot rather than a regular go-to. One standout feature was that this was my first time dining at a restaurant with a self-driving robot that delivers specific drinks and items directly to your table. It's really cool and definitely helps Kura stand out. Because of that, you'd expect more server presence for everything else you might need--but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The layout and path of the restaurant are really well designed, and the overall ambience is great. I came with my duvet loved the atmosphere, which made the experience feel fun and memorable despite the service gaps.
