We came here for early brunch today to celebrate the end of being on night shift. This is a cute no frills place with limited street parking and some outdoor seating (we opted for indoor because outdoor was just on the main street and it was too sunny). I got the huevos rancheros and short stack of red velvet pancakes and my friend got Sundays on the farm (beef hash and eggs) and Nutella and strawberry French toast. Everything was great but the standout for me was the pancakes. They were incredibly fluffy and came with sweet cream cheese. I was in the neighborhood and grabbed lunch with my sister on a Monday morning. Pretty busy in the late morning during the weekday. We ordered the chicken avocado bacon club and she had the blt with shrimp with an Arnold Palmer and a lemonade. Club Sandwich: 6/10 (~$13-15) Small portions. Comes with a serving of fries. Chicken was dry. The multigrain bread its served on is awesome though. The avocado and tomatoes made me extremely nauseous however and couldn't finish my meal. BLT Sandwich: 9/10 (~$16 with shrimp sub) The shrimp elevated the sandwich and tasted great. Toast has since become my friends' go-to brunch spot. There is often a wait, especially on weekend mornings, but usually no longer than 20 minutes. The service is always friendly and prompt. While I can't say that their's are the best pancakes I've ever had, they're certainly not bad and my friends are always clamoring to come back. One note I have, however, is that the matcha I order tasted like it had vanilla in it. I'm not sure if that's just due to the brand they use but I did specifically ask the waiter beforehand if they add sugar because I don't like it sweet and they said no. Cool brunch place. Kind of loud but it was pretty busy. I ordered the disco eggs because I love disco fries so figured it would be fun to have them for breakfast. Delicious!...for the first few bites. But of course the egg yolk, gravy, and curds mix together to make a paste and it's not very appetizing at the end. Still fun to try. Disco eggs bottom left, at the top were eggs (that were supposed to be scrambled) with potatoes and toast, and a cut off picture of farmer's breakfast that seemed a bit misleading. Pretty good brunch spot. Me and a friend met up on a weekday around 10ish. Food and service was quick. Our server was really nice and friendly. On to the food: Your typical brunch items. They're yogurt and fruit was pretty good. I always get those at any brunch place I go to. Yogurt was really rich. We also had the smoke salmon and cream cheese Benedict. Good as well. I came here yesterday for Brunch and had a pretty decent experience. I joined the waitlist through Yelp before the drive over so I didn't have to wait and was seated immediately when I arrived, which was great. I was seated on the 2nd Floor and it was pretty cold. I got a cappuccino with the s'mores French toast and salmon toast but swapped the multigrain bread for an English muffin. My sister got the huevos rancheros and my friend got Brie and bacon omelette and a Belgian waffle on the side. My s'mores French toast was the best dish while the salmon was just pretty average. My meal was pretty lost under all the greens that overcrowded the plate to be honest. My friend's omelette looked pretty lacking but his Belgian waffle made up for it. My sister mentioned her eggs were good but you just have to eat quickly before the tortillas get soggy and the meal gets cold due to how cold it was in the restaurant. They had initially messed up her order so she had to wait but we couldn't really wait for her because we didn't want our meals to get too cold either. The overall experience here was a pretty average one. The meals did not wow us but it did satisfy our hunger pangs. Good food, small portions. Fun ambience for brunch, it's BYOB which is nice. Our group of friends came here for brunch on a Sunday morning. We waited about 20 minutes for a table which isn't bad. The restaurant is BYOB so we stopped by a liquor store nearby while waiting for our table. We ordered the Grilled Cinnamon Buns to share. They were just OK and wouldn't order again. For entrees we tried the Bananas Foster French toast, Nutella Pancakes and Crab Hash. We didn't love the combo of the banana foster french toast. The Nutella pancakes were delicious as was the crab hash. Definitely recommend and would order again. Toast is a brunch spot with a great variety of food options. I ordered the Guerrilla Omelette which was delicious and came with grilled chicken, avocado, 6 eggs, tomatoes. It came with a side of fruit and whole wheat toast (there was also white, sourdough, and other types of bread to choose from). We also got strawberry pancakes and crab Benedict. My family and I went in for lunch today. My husband ordered the Harvest wrap and cappuccino. He said that the wrap was good on the side that had all the ingredients. It wasn't well potion well so part of it was dried. He also didn't enjoy his cappuccino. I had the kale salad bowl and it was good but didn't enjoy the poached egg. I had the chai latte which was watery in flavor and not very hot. My daughter enjoyed her chocolate chip silver dollar pancakes. I have to say, TOAST in Montclair is just okay. I originally fell in love with this place when I went to the Toast in Asbury Park, so good, but the Montclair site just didn't do it for me. Came here at 9am on Sunday morning. I only had a party of 2 so there was absolutely no wait. The hostess was really sweet and the waitress was super friendly as well. I waited for my friend for 15 minutes and the staff didn't bat an eye :) I got the bacon and Brie omelette with egg whites and my friend got the California omelette with egg whites as well. I think the substitutions are kind of pricey for what they are. I would've gotten the sweeet potato fries instead of the home fries but that's an extra $2. The omelette was good. Nothing extraordinary. I will say that they give you a generous amount of bacon and Brie. I was expect a puny little omelette to come out. We also ordered a short stack of the red velvet pancakes and a single carrot cake pancake. I am still a little disgusted in myself that I paid $5+ for one single pancake. That's a little ridiculous....Nevertheless, the carrot cake pancake was really good. Full of flavor and the raisins had soaked up the moisture in the batter and really plumped up. I know this description makes you want to gag, but trust me they're doing it right here. However, the red velvet pancakes were kind of bland and had no real "red velvet" taste. I will say for both* pancakes, it seems like they used Betty Crocker cake mix and just cooked them into pancake form. I'll deduct points for cheating if they did, but I enjoyed the carrot cake pancake too much to be upset. Id definitely come back for the service and to try the rest of the menu. read more

I'm starting this with a 2 star. The place is beautiful and we sat down immediately. We waited 15 minutes for our server. Which was fine. We placed our complete order, food and drinks. It's been 20 minutes and still no drinks. I will edit and update as I go. As of now, I don't recommend Edit 1: As soon as I posted this, our drink's finally arrived. Edit 2: Our food arrived 2 minutes after our food. Our server was polite. I would recommend this place, WITH CAUTION. An orange juice should not take 20 minutes to come to your table. unless they have to pick the oranges and freshly squeeze them. There seems to always be wait on the weekends but they now text you when your table is ready so that's a plus. We were a party of 4 around 12ish on a Sunday, we waited for like 30-40 minutes which I feel is fairly average. Menu is huge! Everything is here including a bunch of salads and lunch options for those who aren't into brunch. It's not cheap with most entrees btw $9-12. Service is good and they don't mind you sitting after your meal which is nice. As far as drinks - they are BYOB but you can't bring your own coffee as they will ask you to throw it away before they seat you. I got the California scramble ($11.20 + $.75 for substituting bread for a biscuit). Loved the flaky biscuit and also ready liked my cheesy scramble especially as the salsa and the sour creme came on the side. I tried a little of the buttermilk pancakes which were perfect and what I am ordering w/o a doubt next time. They also have really good maple syrup. If you like thick and gooey pancakes then this is the place for you. They actually taste like they were pre-made and reheated. My little guy ordered chocolate chip pancakes and he wasn't impressed at all. They just gave him regular pancakes and threw a few chocolate chips on the plate! Where's the love for the kiddies?! The maple bacon was the best thing we had! It was absolutely delicious- but $5 for 3 thin slices of bacon is a stretch. My waitress was super sweet and very attentive. I was impressed by how fast we received our food! It came out less than 10 minutes after we placed our order. Maybe the pancakes ARE pre-made?? Who knows! There is street parking available depending on what time you go. We had to circle around a few times before we found a spot. This place is a solid 3.5 stars but nothing more.
