Heard so many good things about this place. Very friendly staff and fast service. I got the lemon poppyseed pancakes. We're amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very clean as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fresh squeezed orange juice was a plus. Definitely will be going again.

Went to Toast Sunday morning to celebrate my family members birthday before they left for a flight. Everything was amazing! The server was so nice and attentive, we got all the food fast at the same time and tasted amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a cute place with two levels which doesn't make you feel claustrophobic with cute flowers everywhere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would recommend for breakfast any day of the week for a morning delight

Holidays and brunch -- what a perfect combination! After a heavy Christmas meal, the last thing you want to do is cook again. At the same time, there's no real mood for a full lunch either. Brunch fits perfectly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We found this spot in Montclair, and it has a very laid-back vibe. The restaurant has two levels of seating, and at first glance it gives off a vintage, almost mountain-side restaurant feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Since we were with a baby, we chose to sit on the first level. [[HIGHLIGHT]]About the booth seating -- maybe it was just me, but getting into the booth felt a bit tight. The table was so close it almost felt like it was touching my chest.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food-wise, they have some really good breakfast options, and I was honestly confused about what to order. In such situations, I usually ask the server or check google for best sellers. I went with the Southwest Breakfast Bowl: it comes with grilled potatoes, corn, avocado, egg, mayo and cheese. It was really good and I ended up craving more, but hey it was brunch, not lunch , hahaha... Wife went with the pancakes, which turned out to be a great choice. It's a nice option if you want to taste different flavors. The pancakes were small, fluffy, and tasted amazing -- no syrup needed at all! I tried their drink: Unicorn tears: its milk-based drink with some syrup. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. Portion size was Just right. Enough to satisfy your hunger, but not the oversized, heavy portions you get at some chain restaurants. Service was good as well. I would definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

Ate here a while back; am catching up on review writing! Overall, I'd say the food was just fine. There was a kind of deconstructed huevos rancheros that was pretty much a mess. One person in our group got a cheeseburger that he enjoyed but it was too high to fit into any human's mouth, so a bit of a pain to eat. Grilled chicken wrap came with a sauce we didn't love; the person who had eggs benedict was happy with his dish. The fries that came with our dishes were fine but didn't stay warm long. There are other more positive reviews for Toast, so we may have been there on an off day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We did like the vibe of the place so may choose to return at some point.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We recently had brunch at toast and they did a great job with everything. We had a large party with young kids, but they provided good service and were very patient. I liked the lunch items but the breakfast entrees looked fantastic. We didn't have to wait long to be seated, and our beverages were refilled frequently. Some of the highlights at our table were chocolate chip pancakes and avocado toast. The prices were fair for the area and the menu variety was impressive. Overall, we were very happy with Toast and would surely return.

Walked in for Sunday brunch and only waited 5 minutes for a table of 2, though they gave us a heads up that it could take up to 15. The space has a cute and cozy vibe, so we were happily surprised when we walked in. We were sat in a booth, a few tables away from the door on the first floor. Even with that, most people had their jackets or hats or scarves on since the door opened every few minutes so you felt a cold rush of air which was not ideal. Staff was nice and food came after a bit. The coffee took longer than the food, but we were told when our food came that the bar was backed up so the coffee would take a bit. We ordered the Heuvos Rancheros and the Smoked Salmon benny. The Huevos Rancheros tasted pretty good, and the Smoked Salmon benny was alright. The bread in the english muffin was kinda tough. Overall, the food was ok and the prices are on the higher end, so may give some other food a try here if we're really craving brunch.

A friend and I went to Toast for a Sunday brunch and it was packed. We placed our name on the waiting list and we waited no more than about 10 minutes and we were called. We sat on the second level and we were towards the back. The space was quite tight, but we made it work. Our waiter was nice however there were times where we were looking for him and we needed certain things to be removed from the table. So the service overall was just OK. We ordered the cinnamon buns for breakfast wrap, bacon, and the carrot cake pancakes with home fries. I also ordered one of their specialty lattes. I believe it was the French toast flavored. The latte was just okay, it wasn't what I expected. The carrot cake pancake was a bit dark but it had good flavor. Overall, everything was just OK. I believe it's a solid place to just get the basics. Also parking is horrendous in that area...

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is such a cute place and I came here recently with my family when visiting Montclair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came here for their wonderful selection of vegan options and fun cutesy vibe. The service was friendly and helpful. I opted for their special latte which was a sugar cookie latte. I love festive drinks, so this sounded like perfection. I ordered it with oat milk to make it non dairy. My drink came out after everyone else's at the table and unfortunately was made using real whipped cream on top. I had no idea that it came with this, as it wasn't specified on the drink menu. After telling the waitress that I'm unable to have dairy, she took the drink back and had it remade for me. Despite this error, the drink itself was magical and I loved the sweetness with a hint of spice. It was creamy, luscious and decadent and warming in my throat. For my entree I got the tofu scramble. I had ordered it with air fried sweet potato fries, but the waitress seemed to have misunderstood me and instead replaced the potatoes it came with with the fries. It wasn't the biggest deal, I just ended up with a little less food than I was anticipating. Both the tofu scramble and fries were very flavorful and well seasoned. I really enjoyed the textures of both as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating was very comfy and cozy and we were really able to relax and indulge while being there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is super easy across the street at the art museum, where they have 2 hour free parking.

It was good, no parking unfortunately, the food was good. The food was good too I'd like to go back and try other stuff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating can be a little odd but they have and an upstairs too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My boyfriend loved his cheesesteak sandwich. She said it was absolutely amazing. My food was good too. I think it was probably just missing like a sauce or something, but it was really good. The bacon that was nicely crisp for my daughter and everything was really good. Definitely will be back and recommend. The waiters and waitresses were really sweet on top of things which i loved. I'll be back soon.

I came here for brunch. I liked their cappuccino and cob salad, their sausage and peppers omelette was yummy as well. Our food arrived to the table pretty quickly which I loved that fact since we had just done a yoga class and I was feeling hungry. The service was great no complaints whatsoever. The ambiance felt family friendly as I saw quite a bit of families enjoying family time over a weekend breakfast together. 10/10 recommendation. I would definitely want to come back here.

Breakfast was just ok. My bagel sandwich was the smallest I've had in Montclair. One piece of salmon, a smear of cream cheese, capers and cucumber. Pancakes are sweet. Scramble eggs were good. Air fried potato's were overcooked. If you're ordering more than two entrees, get a large table. The staff is very attentive. Your coffee cup will never be empty. Two floors of seating. The upper diningroom is very hot. Suggest going early and /or joining the waitlist via Yelp.

Both entrées were phenomenal, the stuffed French toast was easily one of the best in the area, and the Southwest breakfast bowl was just as good. The matcha was a miss (needed extra vanilla syrup), and service could have been better since we were seated up front and it was hard to flag someone down. We came here for early brunch today to celebrate the end of being on night shift. This is a cute no frills place with limited street parking and some outdoor seating (we opted for indoor because outdoor was just on the main street and it was too sunny). I got the huevos rancheros and short stack of red velvet pancakes and my friend got Sundays on the farm (beef hash and eggs) and Nutella and strawberry French toast. Everything was great but the standout for me was the pancakes. They were incredibly fluffy and came with sweet cream cheese. I would return to get them again (with strawberries) and try the carrot cake pancakes too. Service was friendly and food came out fast, which I was grateful for. read more

I was in the neighborhood and grabbed lunch with my sister on a Monday morning. Pretty busy in the late morning during the weekday. We ordered the chicken avocado bacon club and she had the blt with shrimp with an Arnold Palmer and a lemonade. Club Sandwich: 6/10 (~$13-15) Small portions. Comes with a serving of fries. Chicken was dry. The multigrain bread its served on is awesome though. The avocado and tomatoes made me extremely nauseous however and couldn't finish my meal. BLT Sandwich: 9/10 (~$16 with shrimp sub) The shrimp elevated the sandwich and tasted great. Very average, I feel as though the quality of the food has gone a little downhill over the years. read more

Cool brunch place. Kind of loud but it was pretty busy. I ordered the disco eggs because I love disco fries so figured it would be fun to have them for breakfast. Delicious!...for the first few bites. But of course the egg yolk, gravy, and curds mix together to make a paste and it's not very appetizing at the end. Still fun to try. Disco eggs bottom left, at the top were eggs (that were supposed to be scrambled) with potatoes and toast, and a cut off picture of farmer's breakfast that seemed a bit misleading. A farmer's breakfast is usually big and hearty but...it was okay! The coffee keeps coming and it was good. Espressos are big as well so that's a plus. read more

Went last weekend for brunch. Got the crab hash benny. Was pretty good, needed a bit more hollandaise sauce but otherwise fine. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fun so it made brunch better. A nice place to go to with friends read more

Way more expensive than it at all needed to be. $16 for a basic cheesesteak, $108 in total for 4 people. And the food wasn't even that good not gonna lie, I could make half of it in a Wawa and it would taste better. 2 PIECES OF BURNT TURKEY BACON WERE $6. The people were nice at least but holy hell was that unexpected. read more

Nice local place to grab breakfast/brunch. You can join the queue when you get there and they'll text you when your table is available. The inside is much larger than I thought. The food had a homey feel with seasonal specials available as well. There is a also a free parking lot right around the corner. read more

Pretty good brunch spot. Me and a friend met up on a weekday around 10ish. Food and service was quick. Our server was really nice and friendly. On to the food: Your typical brunch items. They're yogurt and fruit was pretty good. I always get those at any brunch place I go to. Yogurt was really rich. We also had the smoke salmon and cream cheese Benedict. Good as well. And for our sweet dish we had their toast which was delicious. Overall pretty good experience. You need to get there early to find parking. read more

Good food, small portions. Fun ambience for brunch, it's BYOB which is nice. Our group of friends came here for brunch on a Sunday morning. We waited about 20 minutes for a table which isn't bad. The restaurant is BYOB so we stopped by a liquor store nearby while waiting for our table. We ordered the Grilled Cinnamon Buns to share. They were just OK and wouldn't order again. For entrees we tried the Bananas Foster French toast, Nutella Pancakes and Crab Hash. We didn't love the combo of the banana foster french toast. The Nutella pancakes were delicious as was the crab hash. Definitely recommend and would order again. The portion sizes were a little small, I could definitely order two entrees if I was super hungry lol. Overall would come back for breakfast / brunch food! read more

I came here yesterday for Brunch and had a pretty decent experience. I joined the waitlist through Yelp before the drive over so I didn't have to wait and was seated immediately when I arrived, which was great. I was seated on the 2nd Floor and it was pretty cold. I got a cappuccino with the s'mores French toast and salmon toast but swapped the multigrain bread for an English muffin. My sister got the huevos rancheros and my friend got Brie and bacon omelette and a Belgian waffle on the side. My s'mores French toast was the best dish while the salmon was just pretty average. My meal was pretty lost under all the greens that overcrowded the plate to be honest. My friend's omelette looked pretty lacking but his Belgian waffle made up for it. My sister mentioned her eggs were good but you just have to eat quickly before the tortillas get soggy and the meal gets cold due to how cold it was in the restaurant. They had initially messed up her order so she had to wait but we couldn't really wait for her because we didn't want our meals to get too cold either. The overall experience here was a pretty average one. The meals did not wow us but it did satisfy our hunger pangs. I'm not sure if I would go again but if you're in the area and having a brunch craving, check it out for yourself! read more

Toast has since become my friends' go-to brunch spot. There is often a wait, especially on weekend mornings, but usually no longer than 20 minutes. The service is always friendly and prompt. While I can't say that their's are the best pancakes I've ever had, they're certainly not bad and my friends are always clamoring to come back. One note I have, however, is that the matcha I order tasted like it had vanilla in it. I'm not sure if that's just due to the brand they use but I did specifically ask the waiter beforehand if they add sugar because I don't like it sweet and they said no. It was still enjoyable, just not what I expected. read more

Toast is a brunch spot with a great variety of food options. I ordered the Guerrilla Omelette which was delicious and came with grilled chicken, avocado, 6 eggs, tomatoes. It came with a side of fruit and whole wheat toast (there was also white, sourdough, and other types of bread to choose from). We also got strawberry pancakes and crab Benedict. The only downside was the wait was kinda long and you can't make reservations beforehand. Very delicious and highly recommend!! read more

Went and waited 25 minutes without anyone stopping by without a glass of water. It was not full and lots of empty tables and lots of servers. Service was atrocious. I don't know if the food was any good because we left. read more

We absolutely love Toast..for it's home confort feel, exceptional hospitality. and their amazingly delicious carrot cake pancake, we always have to order the 1/2 stack. Everything on the menu is a must try. Oh and Heidi is our favorite server. read more

My family and I went in for lunch today. My husband ordered the Harvest wrap and cappuccino. He said that the wrap was good on the side that had all the ingredients. It wasn't well potion well so part of it was dried. He also didn't enjoy his cappuccino. I had the kale salad bowl and it was good but didn't enjoy the poached egg. I had the chai latte which was watery in flavor and not very hot. My daughter enjoyed her chocolate chip silver dollar pancakes. I like the wait list view on Yelp and willing to give it another try with the family for breakfast items. I been before with a friend and and loved the shenanigan salad. read more

Came here at 9am on Sunday morning. I only had a party of 2 so there was absolutely no wait. The hostess was really sweet and the waitress was super friendly as well. I waited for my friend for 15 minutes and the staff didn't bat an eye :) I got the bacon and Brie omelette with egg whites and my friend got the California omelette with egg whites as well. I think the substitutions are kind of pricey for what they are. I would've gotten the sweeet potato fries instead of the home fries but that's an extra $2. The omelette was good. Nothing extraordinary. I will say that they give you a generous amount of bacon and Brie. I was expect a puny little omelette to come out. We also ordered a short stack of the red velvet pancakes and a single carrot cake pancake. I am still a little disgusted in myself that I paid $5+ for one single pancake. That's a little ridiculous....Nevertheless, the carrot cake pancake was really good. Full of flavor and the raisins had soaked up the moisture in the batter and really plumped up. I know this description makes you want to gag, but trust me they're doing it right here. However, the red velvet pancakes were kind of bland and had no real "red velvet" taste. I will say for both* pancakes, it seems like they used Betty Crocker cake mix and just cooked them into pancake form. I'll deduct points for cheating if they did, but I enjoyed the carrot cake pancake too much to be upset. Id definitely come back for the service and to try the rest of the menu. read more

Great breakfast or brunch spot . The selections good for healthy and comfort food eaters alike . I had a Egg white veggie wrap with red velvet pancakes. Nice balanced breakfast. It's is small but has two floors . It does get crowded and long lines form quickly. Good portions . Nice wait staff . Would go back after lockdown . read more

This is brunch at its reliable best. A ton of brunch options from amazing pancakes, well cooked eggs, and strong coffee. There seems to always be wait on the weekends but they now text you when your table is ready so that's a plus. We were a party of 4 around 12ish on a Sunday, we waited for like 30-40 minutes which I feel is fairly average. Menu is huge! Everything is here including a bunch of salads and lunch options for those who aren't into brunch. It's not cheap with most entrees btw $9-12. Service is good and they don't mind you sitting after your meal which is nice. As far as drinks - they are BYOB but you can't bring your own coffee as they will ask you to throw it away before they seat you. I got the California scramble ($11.20 + $.75 for substituting bread for a biscuit). Loved the flaky biscuit and also ready liked my cheesy scramble especially as the salsa and the sour creme came on the side. I tried a little of the buttermilk pancakes which were perfect and what I am ordering w/o a doubt next time. They also have really good maple syrup. My one friend got the Irish Eggs Benedict which she liked but it was served with way too much side hash. All in all though - a go to brunch spot when in the area, just prepare to wait. read more

I have to say, TOAST in Montclair is just okay. I originally fell in love with this place when I went to the Toast in Asbury Park, so good, but the Montclair site just didn't do it for me. The food was just sort of bland. The only thing that was good for me were those yummy buttermilk biscuits. That's it. Staff was very accommodating even though food was barely a hit. read more

Ok cool I called the restaurant and said DoorDash cancelled the order but asked if I could still come to pick up my food since I waited over an hour for nothing and was willing to just come pick up the already cooked food that they confirmed was ready 40 minutes ago. They said i could pick it up so I hurry up to throw clothes on and head to the restaurant just to be told since DoorDash cancelled it and their payment was cancelled, they wouldn't give me my food that was already cold because it sat for 40 minutes since no dasher was assigned. I'm starting this with a 2 star. The place is beautiful and we sat down immediately. We waited 15 minutes for our server. Which was fine. We placed our complete order, food and drinks. It's been 20 minutes and still no drinks. I will edit and update as I go. As of now, I don't recommend Edit 1: As soon as I posted this, our drink's finally arrived. Edit 2: Our food arrived 2 minutes after our food. Our server was polite. I would recommend this place, WITH CAUTION. An orange juice should not take 20 minutes to come to your table. unless they have to pick the oranges and freshly squeeze them. I love this place. Its so close to home and prefect for brunch. I have always been here for brunch and this place have not yet disappoinymented me. There food is fresh and hot. We have ordered pancakes, waffles, nutella, omlets, oatmeals, etc and evrything looked good and taste delicious and fresh. Their orange juice is fresh and u can taste it is different from other palces i have been too. Ambience is as usual cute, very urban style I guess lol, however I love it and I think it looks cute. Service is also very fast and they r very mindful of their customers. My advice is to go try the place yourself and tell me ur experience. read more

Heard a lot about this place but never been until today. Was a convenient meeting point for me and the people I was with. Put our name on the waitlist which was awesome and once we got there we weren't waiting long at all. Haven't come across that before so I think it's a brilliant idea. Upon walking in the place is packed. Literally crowded on both floors which makes you think you picked a good spot. Everyone seemed to really like their food so that was good. I got the eggs Benedict which I enjoyed. My only suggestion would to be maybe have a bathroom upstairs if possible. There seemed to always be a wait at the 2 downstairs. read more

Needed a spot to catch up with my cousin. Previewed a bunch of different places and came up with this one. Thought I'd give it a try and was not disappointed. The lobster roll and sweet potato fries were good and the portions were right for me. The service was friendly and the ambiance was cool. I don't have much to say other than WOW and I wish I lived closer to this place. The menu is packed with interesting unique and obviously going to be delicious options, all of which are super fairly price and seem to be portioned very well. What I would recommend the most is there disco eggs which are disco fries with two eggs on top, absolutely delicious (and a perfect cure for a hangover). They also have a bunch of interesting drinks to go along with breakfast I personally love their green tea latte and my friend got their cookie butter hot chocolate which was also amazing. Overall a great family friendly restaurants with good service and great options, would highly recommend and will definitely be back the next time I am in the area! read more

We felt so bad to have to throw away the other two cakes, but they were not good at all. It was a waste of money to pay so much for a slice and not eat it.

This place is not worth its hype. I waited in line with some friends today for 1/2 hr. for a table, thinking all the while "this better be the best brunch I've ever had." It should have been at least on a par with Boogaloo's on Valencia St. in San Francisco, where thirty-minute waits for their fabulous weekend brunch are typical. Keep in mind that this is Montclair, NJ, where there are plenty of great places to eat--but for brunch, Toast is the only game in town, at least on the main drag (Bloomfield Ave.), and they have good word of mouth for whatever reason. Everyone in my party liked their food OK, but we all agreed that our dishes were so-so, and there was no need to ever come back. We each ordered something completely different (1 salmon omelette, 1 huevos rancheros, 1 veg. sandwich), but none of it was worth raving about; my huevos were heavy on large beans (like white and pinto), and the eggs were flavorless, though masked by a decent salsa verde. Walked in today and on a cold day we all want to sit in a cozy spot. Since they close in about an hour I would think you could sit almost anywhere. In fact I love when places let you choose. It felt like a fight. Upstairs, then downstairs because we were a two seater. The food has been better- the maple bacon was burnt- for $6 I can buy a pack and put maple sugar on it. The oven potatoes so so. Side salad didn't come- fruit did instead. Ok. I'll take it. The noise from the stairs when you sit on the lower floor is disruptive and downright annoying. I ordered the Mini Reuben's that I have had before and today they were outstanding. They have changed the way they cook the corned beef and now it's just like getting it from a deli in NY. moist and delicious. Best I've had. They also had a special hash today. I had such high hopes for toast! I love the atmosphere and the upstairs is just too cute but frankly the food is just okay. Well, a little less than okay. I enjoyed the red velvet pancakes and their gluten free pancakes are better than most but their eggs taste fake and chewy which is disappointing. Coffee is fantastic though!! Basically, if you're looking for a indulgent dessert like breakfast, you will love toast. Breakfast anyone? this is the spot! coming from the nutley/belleville area this place blows any place in my town away! i wish they would open one of these up by me. the french toast was done perfect, has well as the omelletes and toast we ordered. i know that may sound stupid but so many times we have gotten soggy toast or disgusting omellettes. From everything I've heard about this place I didn't find it to be so uniquely special but it was a BYOB which is great. It's just a restaurant, plain & simple. The red velvet pancakes were delicious. I wasn't overly impressed with my omelette but they did allow me to substitute the cheese and use Brie which was great. The waitress was a doll. read more

I had the belgian waffle with powdered sugar, butter, and syrup. It was very good and had good flavoring too. And there are no reservations for small groups there are reservations only for large groups. You can eat upstairs and downstairs what ever the waitors tell you to do. Toast is a very good restaurant to eat at! read more

Stopped coming here years ago after they told me they were going to charge me a surcharge on my bill if I used a debit/credit card. Even spoke to a manager after the fact and they tried telling me they make no $$ in the food industry. Never in all my years of eating at restaurants have I encountered this nonsense. read more

You would assume that a place like this would be able to properly cook eggs. Ordered pick up at 8:21 and got there at 8:40 per their confirmation (will be ready in 20 mins). It's a 4 minute walk back home and this is what we saw. Gave it an extra star because the order itself was correct. Such a disappointment. read more
