    Dakos Salad
    Adriana E.

I had a wonderful lunch at To Steki. The restaurant was very bright and clean, and we very much enjoyed the traditional music they were playing. I ordered the Dakos salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and the salad was delicious! Our waitress recommended it and I am so glad she did! The Spanakopita we shared was perfect. My brother raved about the greek burger sandwich. My mom was iffy about the pork in the gyro she got, but everything else was great.

Came here for dinner based on great reviews of this place! I can see why people really recommend this to be a popular Greek restaurant in the East Queens area! The flavors in these dishes is perfection and definitely coming back to try more of their menu! We enjoyed the zucchini patties so much and the grilled shrimp with peas and carrots is a must :) friendly staff and very helpful/knowledgable on their menu and it's a beautiful restaurant, nicely decorated and the color blue they use is very pleasing to look at!

My new Greek restaurant is in Whitestone! The food was authentic and delicious. The ambiance fantastic. Great place to hang out and have some drinks and wine with great food. The staff was fantastic especially the owner Laki. We had a blast with our best friends this evening.

This restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed the octopus appetizer. The octopus was cooked to perfection and very tasty. We also enjoyed the three spread appetizer. However, they did not serve it with enough pita bread slices. We received the same amount of pita bread triangle slices (about 10) as we received with the small complimentary hummus. And when we asked for more pita, we were charged $4 for a pita basket. I've been to numerous Greek restaurants that do not charge for extra pita. They also charged $5 for a fountain soda. We also ordered fried calamari, feta saganaki, spinach rice and moussaka. These dishes were okay. They didn't wow us.

Excellent fresh food, generous portions, with a great, polite, and attentive staff! I loved the Greek salad, calamari and their yummy desserts.

To Steki roughly translates to "hangout". If you look on their website the full name is To Steki Tou Laki which changes it to "Laki's Place" either way I am a fan of the comfortable causal white, black and wood of this place. Once you settle in warmed pita and a dip comes. The first time I was here it was a great taramasalata and the next it was hummus (disappointingly I didn't see tarama on the menu). For me, eating Greek means eating family style even if you are family of two. Nearly every time it consists of a horiatiki salad - they make a quintessential version here nicely dressed with slab of delish feta. The grilled calamari is tender with a nice char flavor - I may like this better than their octopus here. I enjoyed the gigantes (giant beans in tomato sauce). Many times we make a meal of "apps" for a nice variety, but sometimes order some delicious grilled meats. The lamb chops are tender and delicious and the lemon potatoes were done right. Horta, the slightly bitter dandelion greens with olive oil and lemon are made the way they should be. I've observed couples ordering the mix grill for 2 that come out as a super generous platter which looks like it can feed 4 or more - it makes me wonder if they are on a date and how are they going to have sexy time after? haha. A solid place that is on my short list when I am looking to get my Greek on.

First impressions matter...I was turned off to say the least by the employee who answered the phone of this establishment when my friend and I called to place an order for takeout. She seemed disorganized, spacey, and unfocused...repeating herself, saying another patron was calling, and then suddenly the call dropped. We attempted to call back twice with two different mobile devices and both times it went straight to voicemail. Furthermore, she didn't bother to callback to confirm the order or apologize for the sudden disconnect. I then proceeded to use GrubHub via Yelp to place our order - Horiatiki Salad with Grilled Chicken, Prasini Salad with Grilled Chicken (which was missing the feta cheese), and Hummus Spread. After placing our order my phone rang...it was the employee from our initial attempt to order takeout. She asked if we had called prior and to cancel our GrubHub order because the first order was completed and waiting on us for pickup. How could that be possible if we never confirmed due to the call dropping? Yet, again in the midst of all this confusion the call dropped again. Now, I had an utterly bad taste in my mouth via this Greek establishment and wanted to cancel my order in its entirety! My friend then said, I hope they aren't going to give us the first unconfirmed order as our GrubHub order because our food is going to be cold, stale, and wilted. As we parked we noticed a bag on the counter via GrubHub pickup. I asked if it was our order and we were told it was. I expressed my concern(s) via the unprofessionalism and how his/her employee shouldn't pickup the phone if not trained properly, etc. All that was heard was apologies but nothing to make us whole. We could have been offered soft drinks to go or dessert? At times an apology goes so far after multiple attempts to rectify the situation via callbacks and voicing our concerns. Not to our surprise...as we arrived at home our takeout order was indeed the first initial phone order that was taken. The pita bread was hard and cold, lettuce was wilted/cooked, and grilled chicken dry. Additionally, one salad was missing the feta cheese. I was truly disappointed and had hopes that the owner(s) would rectify the situation when we arrived to pick up our order and voiced our concerns. However, the only thing that was provided to us were many apologies. We believe that the employee needs better training via takeout orders being placed on phone, customer service, and how to multitask. I would rather drive a further distance (such as Bell Blvd) than walk down the block for Greek mediterranean cuisine with horrible customer service and value.

The cutest date spot for Greek food. We came on a weekday evening and was easily seated. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu covers a wide range of food from grilled fares to pasta. We got the octopus appetizer to start. I loved the grilled smokey flavor but it was definitely too salty for me. For the entree we got their lobster pasta special, which came with a whole lobster and some cheesy tomato spaghetti. The portion was huge and there was enough pasta for 3 maybe even 4 people. My boyfriend and I ended up taking the rest to go. I would have preferred if the pasta was lighter on the cheese. My favorite thing was admittedly their pita bread and hummus offered by default to each table. Both were fresh and tasted like they were hand made. I would love to come back and try some of their grilled lamb chops or the bifteki.

We went to To Steki today for Mother's Day. We had a party of 7 and had a great experience. All the food was fresh and well cooked. Presentation was awesome and food was delicious. Seafood was fresh and very well prepared as well as all the other entrees. Complimentary hot pita bread and hummus was served. Prices were very reasonable in my opinion for what is a very high end dining experience. The wait staff were top notch and it felt like we were in a dinner banquet. They took great detail to ensure we had a clean table and even reset utensils on to a clean napkin when they noticed it was not while we waited for the next course. The attention to detail by the wait staff was astounding! We recommend To Steki if you want great Greek food and most excellent service!

When we called to make reservations, we were told that they *usually* serve brunch (i.e., breakfast food) on Saturdays and Sundays, but they would not be doing so on Mother's Day because... well, Mother's Day. My mother-in-law doesn't like eggs, so totally fine! We proceeded with excitement. When we drove up we realized it was right next door to Greek Family Kitchen on Union Turnpike; a restaurant we've been to many, many times. It turns out that this restaurant is by the same owners. This was promising news, as we've always loved the food there! We were initially seated at a table at the front half of the restaurant, but another (very large) party was seated next to us and one of the children was watching cartoons loudly on an iPad with no headphones, so we asked if we could be moved outside or to the other end of the restaurant so we wouldn't have to be near the untenable racket. The staff was very kind and understanding, and moved us to the patio. There was a small hiccup with service, in that we were given a warm bottle of rosé -- I've worked service industry before, and I know how to chill a bottle in about five minutes (the old "spin it in the ice bucket with water" trick). I also know you shouldn't put a warm bottle of white or rosé wine at the table in front of a customer. The bottle should've been chilled in the kitchen, the wait station or behind the bar before it was taken to our table. But this is really a small matter -- not even worthy of docking half a star. We ordered zucchini chips, saganaki and a caesar salad to start -- splitting all. Delicious! We knew the dining experience would be elevated compared to the sister restaurant next door just by glancing around the dining room, but the food told us immediately that we were in for an upscale experience that rivaled the food we've always loved at the more down-home Greek Family Kitchen. Our mains arrived shortly thereafter (the Linguini Puttanesca and the Pear & Gorgonzola Ravioli) and did not disappoint. The food was light but also satisfying. Of course we sprang for dessert, too (it was Mother's Day, after all!). We got the Dubai Chocolate, which was rich but light all at the same time, replete with a snaking line of chocolate sauce across the plate which was interrupted at intervals with sprinklings of edible gold. Couldn't have been more pleased with what turned out to be a fantastically appropriate Mother's Day locale. We will definitely be returning!

I was exuberant for the occasion of goodness to patronize, at long last. What gives you hope. There is an outdoor seating patio that occupies the entire sidewalk and half the street. The weather was gloomy cloudy, but not raining which enable my party of two to dine outdoors. Our table was uneven wobbling and shaking minimal the entire meal which reminisce "Lisa from Temecula" sketch from "Saturday Night Live," but not as violently aggressive shaking. Customer service is average attentive. Oddly, our appetizers arrived first and my wine did not. We had to request my wine which should be distributed first without request or reminder, thus the four stars. This restaurant was not entirely busy nor crowded for a Friday early afternoon. Nick's Bistro is a small cafe with a modern aesthetic appeal. I enjoy and prefer to be well-cultured expose to all international cuisines without judgment and an open mind for appreciation and global awareness. I am not knowledgeable with Greek cuisine, but I do know that Astoria is the locale for the go-to restaurants. I enter with a empty stomach. I exited fulfilled. Business cards and candy were available for grabs. Nick's Bistro is easily accessible via MTA NYC Transit buses Q53 SBS/ Q52 SBS and then Q54. Dramatic irony: this business name is also the name of my former love - not the same Nick, certainly not the same man. My foodie synopsis: Lamb gyro sandwich, $12.00 The meat was soft, but fresh and Tzatziki sauce was heavy. I do not consume lamb often, but once in a blue moon I would not exclude lamb to consume. The pita bread was the highlight which was fresh, soft and cooked with a good consistency without burning or harden. The gyro contain very pauacity minimal vegetables of lettuce, half cherry tomato and red onion. I always prefer red onion. I prefer regular tomato. This sandwich ate my fill to sustain hunger pangs the entire afternoon. Gyro sandwich is always my default Greek entrée of choice. Oddly, this entrée is price higher than listed on their website for $9.00. I do not believe their website is updated for price. Caesar salad, small $11.25 It was fresh and delightful filled with Parmesan shaved cheese. This portion is actually medium size. The croutons are thankfully not hard, but I never like croutons at all. I am always enamored with the lettuce. Ruffino, Chianti, 2019 red wine $12.00 This wine is one of my favorite reds, but it is difficult to find at most restaurants or cafés not widely offered. It was a joyous delight. It is exactly as is dry, very medium-bodied smooth finish Italian red wine from Tuscany, Italy, crafted from indigenous Sangiovese grape. It highlight bright cherry flavors and surely tasted. I was floating in very high spirits. Chicken rice soup, pint $6.95 Served luke warm but not piping hot with steam visibly emitted. It was also served with Oyster crackers. It was enjoyable and warm the heart. Greek Omelet, over easy egg whites $16.50 It was served with Greek feta cheese with vegetables yellow zucchini and pita chips. I highly despise Greek feta cheese and the same for Greek yogurt because both are extremely heavy, thick and too rich. I do not see any tomatoes. This entrée did appeared well prepared and well cooked but no runny yoke. My neighbor thoroughly enjoyed this entrée. Every time I think of omelet it bring flashbacks from past long-haul international flights major airlines of standard airplane food popularity for in-flight breakfast, often served with potatoes, sausage, or roasted vegetables. Nostalgia brew. Omelet? Flight attendant, I'll take the Continental with pastries, toast and fresh fruit please. Then followed by Bedtime Care Bear make me fall asleep again.
