Always amazing food whenever I order from here. You feel like family when you come here

I am writing this after giving To Steki three chances. 1. Was opening night. I ordered Mousaka (no longer on the dinner menu)& spinach pie. The spinach pie was not enough for $8. The Mousaka literally came in a soup bowl and was burnt to the bottom. The only reason anyone noticed I started taking pictures (attached). To add insult to injury, I was charged $15 & told my entree did not include the potatoes and vegetable promised with an entree. The crab cakes I was allowed to substitute were tasty but tiny. In most establishments 1 crab cake was equivalent to this serving. 2. Tried lunch. It was enjoyable. A Greek Burger with a Greek Salad and Frappe. Made me decide to give the restaurant another shot. 3. I ordered Shrimp Scampi with a Coffee. I was looking forward to the pita and Tzatziki sauce. All I got was pita dressed a La Blvd. It was good but their sauce was excellent. My dinner serving was a joke. I got 4 medium shrimp on a huge plate and a small plate with lemon potato (1) and a small serving of vegetable. I paid $25 for the same amount a friend (they sat at the bar on the same night) took home as leftovers. I am uncertain what this means but I did walk in alone, order no appetizer, only have coffee and skip dessert. I believe this is why I got less. If you don't care about costs and/or don't have the same strikes against you as I do, try this place. The quality is good and the food is tasty when not burnt. read more

I am teetering on a 4 or a 5 but I have to go with a 4. This place is fabulous! My family and I came here for my birthday recently. I had to scour the internet to find their number! (917) 563-7273. I wish they would have a website... They don't make it easy to find information about them! So the food here is amazing! I would have like to try some of their apps, but my family only likes getting entrees and nothing else... It was less crowded for a Friday night than I was expecting... I also didn't really appreciate the fact that the family who owns the place eats dinner with all their kids. Granted it is in the back of the restaurant, but still, you shouldn't treat it like a day care. If you have kids, get a baby sitter, or be home with them. They shouldn't be at work with you. One lady at that table seemed to be the bartender. She kept getting up and making the drinks for all the other guests. Enough about my gripes! We tried a variety of items! We tried the Tzatziki and the Fava spreads. I like the Tzatziki, but wasn't a fan of the Fava. They could have also given us a little more.... My brother hat the revithokeftdes, which he said that he enjoyed. He said it was much better than other falafel he's had before! For my entrée I had the Meze Poikilia. It was a very nice plate of meat! It says it comes with 5 meats, but I didn't get any pork tenderloin, or stekis sausage. It could have also used a big side of Tzatziki sauce! Luckily I had some leftover from earlier... My brother had the psaronefri. That was the pork! I didn't have anything that looked like that on my plate... He loved it. He gave me a piece as well and it was delicious! Not dry at all! My father had the lamb yiouvetsi. He said that it was some of the best lamb that he has had in a while! My mom had the moussaka, and she was in heaven! She aid it was the best shes ever had! She is allergic to garlic, and she loved the fact there was no garlic in there and that she was able to eat it. I forgot what my wife and gma had, but they also really loved their dishes. I would have wanted to stay and try some of their desserts, but my mom had a cake for me at home. This place is new. It is very clean! The staff is very friendly. It has this old school rustic modern vibe to it. It feels like you are in Greece, on the water. White walls decorated just enough to feel authentic. Very rustic tables and chairs! Very homey. All in all, great food, great service. We are looking forward to coming back here again! read more

I have been going here for a few years. What happened to it. $12 for a light beer. Food came out Luke warm and tasted like it was for mass catering ! I am done with restaurants that charge way too much for food and drink that is not up to pat 0 stars for me!! read more

To Steki was a last minute solution to our change in plans. I third-wheeled with some friends in Whitestone and they said we should go to their usual spot. The staff at To Steki welcomes my friends with hugs and loud hellos. They were friendly to me, a newcomer, and let us choose where we wanted to sit. We got pita bread and a dip to munch on while looking at the menu. I have very limited experience with Greek food so I didn't really know what the dip was but it was delicious. It was light and fluffy and had a unique taste to it. I don't know if the pita was supposed to be dipped in it but that's what I did and I liked it. For dinner I got the angus steak and fries. It's not the most authentic Greek food I could have ordered, but it was authentic enough for an authentic Greek to order as well. My other friend got the lamb chops, something she orders weekly. She loved her lamb chops. My steak was very well cooked and the perfect temperature. The staff checked in on us frequently to see if we needed anything and also to chat with my friends. It was really nice to see a restaurant where the staff knows their regulars well!!! I was very impressed with the level of camaraderie between the staff and my friends. It felt very intimate and quaint, not what I'd expect from a restaurant in Whitestone at all. At the end of the night, we paid our bill and chatted a little more with the staff before heading out. My friends made plans to return soon. It was a great meal, one I would absolutely repeat if it wasn't an hour commute for me! read more

I can't express how much I love this place. My husband and I order the the meat platter for two almost 2 a month. It's delicious and we get 4 meals out of it easy. Beside this, almost anything we've tried is amazing. Highly recommend it! read more

I will never step my foot at this place again. On a special night for me and my group of 10 people the owner completely disrespected us. He asked us to leave within an hour of us sitting down because 1) we had kids that should be going home soon to sleep and 2) had double booked and thought the other group of four had come from far and had the right to sit instead of us. Additionally, the owner asked me to move my sleeping infant to a corner so he can fit more people at the table next to us. Horrible service, lack of communication, lack of respect and a horrible businessman. Do not recommend it if your goal is to have a relaxed, good time with friends.... read more

I had to think a few times before deciding to post this review. Why? Because it's too good. To Steki that is. To say I'm a Greek food fan is an understatement. So when I found out that a new spot had opened just five minutes from my parents home I was ecstatic. Straightaway we went for lunch and happily found that on weekdays there is a lunch special until 4 PM. Being that the restaurant hasjust been open for a month (or was on our first visit, in April), we were the only ones dining. But close to 4 o'clock many more started pouring in and when we returned on Sunday it was clear the secret was out. I had the salmon steak lunch special. Cubes of salmon with a lovely small salad some potatoes and pita bread for $13. My friend had the grilled chicken special and from the regular menu, my mom had crab cakes, some of the best I've ever tasted. To start out we shared a plate of red beets, everything was fresh and delicious. We were all literally licking our fingers. The following Sunday when we returned I had the whole Branzino which was cooked to perfection with plenty of garlic and herbs. Note this is meant to be an appetizer type of place in the style of tapas. Aside from the lunch menu everything is à la carte. Even when you order a whole fish, sides are not included. So outside of the lunch menu it can get a little pricey. We shared an ice cream cake dessert which we thoroughly enjoyed (since then they've added to the menu my favorite, galaktoboureko!) also, to my happy surprise discovered a Greek bakery across the street. All-in-all fabulous new Greek venue in Whitestone, I would make a special trip for a meal here. read more

This place is ridiculously overpriced and not worth the money. 46$ for 4 stuffed shrimp. Are you kidding me? 10$ for a bottle of Fix beer. 16$ for a mojito. Huge rip off. Been there twice and each time was very disappointed. Fresh fish of the day 46-48. Patrons beware. Sorry I hate leaving negative reviews but just not worth the money. This is a local restaurant not in the heart of Manhattan. Hence why it's also so empty. Lower the prices. Food just okay. read more

Foods always fresh and the ambiance is fun. Closest thing to Greece without leaving queens. I especially love the salads.

Food is solid but they don't offer a drink menu or wine list and $16 for a traditional margarita in a casual establishment on Francis Lewis Blvd is highway robbery. Also they don't give you a heads up that there is a $4 charge for extra pita. This is a first in a Greek restaurant - where the staff usually pride themselves on feeding customers so they go home happy. Can't imagine coming back when there are so many great Greek restaurants in the area that are more forthcoming with their pricing. Learned tonight that others in the area were one and done after a visit for the same reasons. Hopefully they can reevaluate how best to attract new customers. read more

I've lived in New York for roughly 5 years now. I must say I've been to loads of places, some of them my friend and I have been back whereas some we've promised ourselves not to bother to make reservation ever again. Going forward, To Steki is now one of the top spots in my list of restaurants to go to. Laki, the owner made us feel at home, the food was out of this world, fresh ingredients and very tasty. I went here for the first time last night. I was extremely impressed. The service, the food, the ambiance were all absolutely terrific. The menu is reasonably priced and everything is made fresh. We loved this restaurant! Stopped randomly for dinner before a flight on our way to the airport and we were delighted with the food. The sesfood was cooked to perfection (octopus, calamari and Branzino) and the moussaka was delicious ! the sides and salads were very authentic and service was good (hats off to the staff especially the colombian waitress ). will definitely be coming back. read more

Came here for Father's Day with my dad, waited almost an hour for my entree and the lamb was cold and when they reheated it, it was still just warm on top so asked for it to go as I would heat it hime properly and it was over cooked as well, also, it was so busy that we didn't get paid much mind to, as we were just two people versus bigger tables but the rice with spinach was good and so was the calf liver but avoid the grilled octopus as it tasted chewy and then on edges crispy as if old or not fresh but looked nice lol -overall, for a $130 meal, I definitely wouldn't ever go back and live close by read more

I went recently (june 2021) and i am really surprised at these five star yelp reviews. I was not impressed, at all. Salad was basic. Much of the food is frozen, not fresh or prepped on premises. The meap was expensive for what it is worth. I expect robust flavor, fresh food, AND NEVER FROZEN at any restaurant chargong more than $15 per dish. Falafel balls were hard and dry. Not coming back. You five star people, you need to try greek food outside of Whitestone/bayside! Unimpressed. read more

Ms. Voula is so attentive that she noticed I had put my coat jacket on. She asked if we were cold as she left the door ajar in order for air to circulate. She immediately closed it when we confirmed that it was chilly. My grilled sea bass with peas and carrots were delicious. Ms. Voula explained prior that the fish takes 20 minutes to prepare. Their pita bread was served warm. My husband's grilled salmon with rice pilaf was equally good. We would have rated To Steki Excellent had the salmon been thicker and had the beer's cost been less. read more

This place is a 3.5-star restaurant, so I don't know if I can give it 4-stars. We came as a family and got started with some appetizers. We got the fava dip, which was very authentic and just needed a touch of salt to really bring it to life. The meatballs were pretty good but only came with 4 meatballs. The spicy feta dip wasn't anything special but was decent. The calamari were cooked well but didn't have a ton of flavor. The saganaki was nice, having a little crust to it. We decided we wanted a little more so we all shared the meat platter and a Greek salad. Most of the meat was cooked well and had good flavor. They give you a ton of pita with all of that meat, but no tzatziki with the dish. It was my own fault for not asking for some, but that's pretty much a standard at any other Greek restaurant. The house white wine was really good, a little sweet, but the carafe was a bit of a joke. It was probably 10 oz. of wine for 4 people, so we kept having to order more. read more

We were warmly greeted at the front door of this pretty and immaculate restaurant. Our server Voula came right over and told us at least 6 specials that all sounded great. We had the lemon soup and one pork chop dish and one EXCELLENT grilled chicken dish. Everything was delicious. Will definitely come back. read more

Tried this place again with the wifie since they're more established now and we always see it packed since the pandemic...we were wondering if it's because people were just desperate to dine out now or if the food actually improved...well I'm happy to say that the food has actually improved! The pork souvlaki was absolutely delicious, and so was the spicy feta dip. They have some good lunch specials too. Will definitely eat here more often now. read more

Yesterday, I went to my brother in law's birthday party and I'm still dreaming about the food and drinks! To Steki was incredible! The food just never stopped. The lamb chops were the best I've ever had! The mousaka and pastichio were perfection! Just as good as my mom's! My old fashioned was perfectly made and the red wine on the tables were smooth and savory. My compliments to Laki and his son, Gregory! I will be returning very soon. read more

Great local spot. Decided to check it out after seeing the reviews and so happy we did! Food was excellent. Grilled octopus, Zucchini cakes ( fritti) and fried calamari were delicious. We were a group of 11 so we made reservations, we were seated promptly, and the waitress was a doll. She told us of all the specials, and the jumbo shrimp risotto was a great dish. The interior was beautifully done and the place has a fun vibe. Definitely recommend! Only missed 5 stars because the full bar didnt have our favorites...yet. We will definitely be going back, it's a great neighborhood find for those of us NOT willing to trek to Bell Blvd and the chaos of parking. read more

Just had another excellent dinner at To Steki. You have to get grilled octopus and/or fried calamari for appetizers. The Jumbo Shrimp risotto is always great. Lobster pasta was al dente and so delicious. Broiled scallops were so good too. We enjoy getting shots of Mastika here, ans service is great. The owner is friendly and really sweet. A nice neighborhood restaurant with a cute cafe vibe. I wouldn't say the food is better than other Greek restaurants in the area, but it has been consistently good on the several occasions we've eaten here. I would say the cafe style sets it apart from its more formal peers and parking in this residential area is easy. read more

Excellent food and even better service . Four of us were outside dining enjoying a great meal when it started to drizzle . It was a light rain which we all thought would pass and we were fine with it but then our fantastic waitress ,Voula, came along with the owner and another waiter and held umbrellas over us until the rain passed . This made for a very memorable dinner and truly shows how they care for their patrons . All of us thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered from the calamari and zucchini cake apps and Grilled chicken, Falafel and Moussaka dinners and ending with a piece of amazing galaktoboureko for dessert. Had dinner last night for the first time. Everything was great. I had the kondosouvli and my wife had the same was very good and portion was very generous. Best Greek restaurant in the area. This is our new favorite Greek restaraunt. Service was great, the server was attentive and recommended the eggplant spread which was amazing. The food was excellent. Ordered the falafel lunch special and had the grilled octopus appetizer. Perfectly cooked and delicious and the lemon potatoes were the best I've ever had.
