I had Gyro World during a Yelp event and honestly, it was much better then than it was on this visit. The service was still good, and the ambiance is bright and welcoming, which I appreciated. The gyro itself was just okay this time, nothing too memorable. The fries were good definitely needed some salt, but that's just my personal preference. The chicken skewer was solid and probably the highlight of the meal. My biggest issue was the Greek salad. It was mostly cucumbers, and the feta cheese had a really strange flavor. I'm not sure what brand they use, but I've never tasted feta like that before, and not in a good way. It completely threw me off. That experience alone was enough to turn me away. I think I'll stick with the pricier Greek spots that I know are more consistent. read more

The quality of this place has unfortunately gone down alot. More money for less. The calamari they now mix with fried veggies but the price didn't go down even though you're getting much less calamari. Nobody asked for that! It used to feel welcoming when you went in, but not anymore. The souvlaki has this weird, overly soft texture, without much flavor. The amount of feta in the salad ... you might as well not even give any. The gyro meat is still good and the pitas don't feel and taste stale anymore. The grape leaves taste went down hill. The tzatziki is still one of the best that you can get. Mozzarella sticks don't have seasoning anymore and made it feel like eating them was just biting down into hard cardboard. I'm gonna give them a break for now and check back in a few months. I'd recommend them only if your nearby and really craving this type of food. read more

The typical fast food Greek fare gets raised a few notches here at Gyro World. Now, I'm picky with my gyro and my souvlaki because of my heritage and so I can honestly say they hit it out of the park at Gyro World. We started with the traditional Greek salad and combination platter because it wouldn't be summer without these staples. The tomatoes were garden fresh and cold and but the feta stole the show. It was so good I'm sure it came from their pet goat in the yard! The gyro and souvlaki combo platters were perfectly cooked and surprisingly not greasy. The pita was cooked to perfection and sturdy enough to hold up under the weight of our meat livers paradise. By far my favorite gyro place! read more

We always get "The GW Plate"!!! And it never disappoints. Enough food for 4, maybe 5, depending on the appetites. It used to be about $40 something now it's a lil over $50, but sooooo worth it. The tzatziki sauce is one of the best I've had, I would eat it for breakfast, no shame!!! But in my opinion, the pork gyro and pork souvlaki are the best!! read more

Hello the reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the no air conditioning in the summer - the doors are open , the heat is pouring in. So now I pick up the food and eat at home with my air conditioner on. A message to management- please refrigerate your salads - no one likes a warm salad. Otherwise the food is delicious. read more

I have no picture at all of my food I ate because it was so good. I tore that falafel Gyro up. Their food is very fresh. My friend had got a meat platter. The meat was so tender. It was juicy. They cut them up and small pieces. It was definitely worth it. Well organized. They get your food in and out and very fill-in. I do recommend this place. You could also sit down and have dinner there it's not just Take out the people that served me was very caring, considerate and patient. I really appreciate the food there and the service. read more

Gyros are one of my favorite comfort foods and of the gyros I've tried around New York City, Gyro World is the place that keeps me coming back for more consistently. The quality of the food is apparent and my only regret after any visit is that I can't help myself and wind up eating my meal all in one sitting when the sensible thing to do would be to split the generous portions throughout at least 2-3 meals. A massively full stomach is the price you pay for top-notch ingredients, fast and friendly service and a no-frills operation. In addition to the gyros I'm a big fan of Gyro World's chicken souvlaki and always save room for desserts like their delectable rice pudding or their addictive orange cake. read more

Would've been a 4 but we had an awkward service experience. Came here for the "Yelp Gyro" and it was honestly pretty decent. The hummus spread that they put on it gave it a unique taste. I'd definitely suggest grabbing some tzatziki on the side because they didn't give me any when I ordered. Also ordered the calamari and I'm surprised as how fantastic it was. I'd definitely go there again just to order that and grab some pita on the side as well! (Maybe not the gyro but I'm not a gyro with fries type of guy, but maybe I would've enjoyed it more if there was more sauce). Service was good in the beginning until we tried to go back and put in an order for calamari as well. The young lady didn't seem to understand what we were trying to do and instead of asking for help she just kept asking us if we paid. Even printed out a random $39 order that we didn't place at all (idk why she did that and we literally said we only ordered a Yelp gyro lol). Ambiance is okay I guess, it's a gyro spot lol def stop in for lunch though. Grab that calamari for sure. read more

Overall, Gyro World is a neighborhood gem for anyone looking for good food that's affordable. It's perfect for solo meals, family gatherings, or even takeout. The front of the restaurant is not waited on and there are signs that say you need to go order from the counter. The back of the restaurant seems to have table service. The atmosphere is relaxed, with casual vibe. The staff is friendly and efficient, The food is served pretty quickly even during busy hours. My greek salad with grilled chicken was good as was the beef/lamb gyro. My usual "go to" is their lemon avgolemono soup - yum! read more

My 76 y.o. husband went to pick up our dinner order at Gyro World, one of our favorite spots. The food is always delicious and the portions so generous we have lunch the next day. It was hot. and He was sitting outside waiting when one of the employees came out with a glass of water w/lemon and a straw. Such a lovely act of kindness, It is not often that you find a place where both the food and the employees are excellent. read more

I love gyro world! Delicious authentic greek food!! I love their gyro platters. To die for.

Food was delivered ice cold. We waited for over an hour only to have to heat everything up to be able to eat it. I don't know if they were having an off night but the food was mediocre at best. We wound up throwing a great deal of it away. Very disappointed! read more

Came in around lunch time and stumbled upon this place. We both got the chicken souvlaki lunchbox special. The presentation is super convenient & cute!! You do get the option to change your sides; lemon potatoes, rice or French fries (+1$). The chicken itself is quite tender and the fries did not disappoint. The white taziki sauce was more on the chunky side, but I didn't mind it. The service was patient with us, they are definitely strong on the "providing customer service" as they were very bright and passionate. (You can just tell :)) I would like to try other things on the menu soon when I'm around the area. Keep up the good service & yummy food. read more

I placed a large order via the app on Friday night - 3 large meat plates, some rice & lemon potatoes - for pick up today. I called on Saturday to confirm the order & today to make some changes. The lady I spoke to was so nice. Everything was delicious. We had way more food than 20 people could eat. They even included a couple of containers of rice pudding. Each of the 3 families took home a rather heavy tin of food. We received so many compliments on the change up in food (usually Italian or Chinese) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed being able to choose what they wanted to eat. My favorite was the beef skewers and the pork. Glad I requested extra tzatziki, we went through all of it. Best of all, I got a 20% discount by using the app for the first time. I will definitely be ordering from them again. Thanks Gyro World for a great Mothers Day meal! read more

Had higher hopes in terms of the gyro itself. Ordered takeout from here and it took quite a while to prepare. The options for takeout are fairly standard in terms of the meat and toppings. They offer a wrap section but I was told this is just a rolled up pita rather than a wrap. Overall, meh place for takeout. read more

The food is good and on the "healthy" side for fast food. Really big portions. I ordered 6 of their Lunch Special boxes with the rice and some with the potatoes. No one was able to finish their box. We also ordered 3 sides of fries without knowing that 1 side would have been enough for all 6 of us. read more

we frequent this place and usually order their large gw platter that feeds up to 8 people. it comes with (beef & lamb gyro, pork gyro, bifteki, chicken bifteki, pork souvlaki, chicken souvlaki, & loukaniko, served with pita & tzatziki). it's great for gatherings and everyone gets a full plate full of food. read more

Gyro World - Beef & Lamb Gyro Platter - Greek Near Me - Flushing, New York

I came here with my daughter who wanted a Gyro sandwich so bad and I was unsure about what I was gonna be able to get being that I do not eat meat. The place itself is spacious and there is also outdoor seating tables and benches available. There is street parking and possibly parking in the back I am unsure about this. The staff and service overall was nice so here's the way it works you order your food in the front you pick a table and they bring you your food when it's ready simple. I did ask a staff member that was at the register to help me along with the menu to better understand what I was going to be ordering . So for my daughter, I did order a chicken Gyro and a side of fries. There were three options of chicken and I went with his choice since they're made in three different ways. For myself, I ordered a fish sandwich now he did mention that he probably would not recommend this item but I still wanna have an ordered it and I am 100% happy with my decision. The fish sandwich came with two fried pieces of fish, lettuce, tomato on a bun and a side of tartar sauce. The sandwich was a great size, but I just realized from having the sandwich that I've never had a real fish sandwich. The sandwich is highly recommended. I ordered sautéed onions and peppers to go on top of the sandwich because I really like onions and peppers. However, the sandwich was fine just the way that it came, I absolutely cannot wait to return to have this sandwich again. read more

I was craving Greek Food so I ordered from here. This place place was recommended to me by a friend/colleague. I ordered Baklava, Spinach Pie, and the Combo of 2 Platter (Chicken Souvlaki, Grilled Chicken Breast, Homemade French Fries, Greek Salad, Pita Bread) and a side of extra Tzatziki Sauce. The chicken was well seasoned. I'm not sure what type of potatoes they used, but the fries were limp. There was no crunch and they need extras seasoning. I seasoned the fries with garlic salt and parsley. You have to dip the fries into the tzatziki sauce. If not then they're lackluster on their own. The salad was fresh, but I didn't care for the side of dressing. I used Ken's Country French dressing instead. The tzatziki sauce was nice and creamy. I love that it wasn't runny but on the thick side. The Spinach Pie was not good. There was too much dill and the crust wasn't flaky. I'm not sure if they used phyllo dough. It seemed like a puff pastry crust. Also the baklava was horrible. I definitely won't be ordering those two items again. read more

It's really a nice place to eat, but I kinda just have it delivered . I like the quality better than say Fontana's a couple of blocks away - that I've always ordered for a long time but never again for the past year or so . I haven't had the opportunity to dine here yet but have gotten takeout a few times. Their food portions are HUGE and it's usually 2-3 portions for me. I have gotten both the platter set and a gyro sandwich before. The platter set comes with soup or salad, your choice of meat, and pita bread. Then, you also have to pick another side (i.e. fries, lemon potatoes, or rice). I only have tried the gyro meat and it was flavorful. I tried and enjoyed their avgolemono soup, which is a lemon chicken soup with rice. I recently had their gyro sandwich. It's pita bread stuff with A LOT of gyro meat and some sliced red onions and tomatoes. I also order the sandwich with fries on the side. Overall, the food has been pretty good thus far. read more

I was in the area and been craving for Greek food since it's been a while. GyroWorld is Mediterranean fare and when you walk in, you're immediately greeted by the wafting smell of gyro and romantic Greek music playing overhead (I had no clue what the lyrics are saying but it sounded very romantic to me). This location happened to be a block from where I parked so it was quite convenient considering it was below 30°F outside at the time and I didn't want to be walking any further than that in the cold. It was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday (only one table of customers). I've been having a hard time finding pork gyro in this part of Queens - most places either tell me they don't serve it or had sold out for the day. I was so glad that GyroWorld has it! The girl at the counter seemed only a few years younger than me and was great at customer service. She strongly insisted I didn't need to tip since I'm ordering to-go and before I could say anything, she pressed "skip" on the tip screen for me. Personally, I tip regardless of whether I dine in or not so even though it was too late to do it on my card, I gave her a tip in cash (especially because she was so sweet and truly wasn't asking for anything; I just hope that others would do the same). I also really wished I had found this place sooner because just look at the packaging!! It's like an adult Greek happy meal!! My inner child was so excited seeing this. The pork was so flavorful - even the charred bits - and the sides paired so beautifully with it. I finished every morsel of food in that box (minus the olive - I'm not a fan of olives) and it kept me full the whole night. I will definitely be returning. read more

I heard this place wasn't great, but I decided to give them a . Uber eats delivered the food and the order was completely wrong. I called and spoke with the manager who insisted that I was lying. This all happened after having an omakase dinner: "Wanna get something to eat?" "Maybe. . ." "I wanna go to Gyro World!" "Isn't that in Astoria?" "No, there's one out here too." Calls Gyro World. "What do you want?" "I have no idea. I've never seen the menu or eaten here. I'll have whatever you're having." Orders 2 pork traditional greek gyro pitas. "It's how much money?!" "It'll be worth it." Then we got into an argument over how you pronounce 'Gyro' (the g is silent). At least, that's what everyone in Greektown in Detroit has told me my entire life growing up. And then my friend did not believe me that there's a huge Greek population and food culture in Detroit. Long sigh. So was the pita worth $11? Yes. . . . it's a lot of money for the size of the sandwich I think but the meat is so tender, the tzatziki sauce is freaking amazing. I was intending on eating a quarter of it or maybe half when I got home and saving the rest for the next day and ate the entire damn thing.
