We have been customers of Gyro Corner for years. The last time we ordered, it was excellent as it usually is. This time however, they truly dropped the ball. The Greek fries were a soggy, mushy mess. The kabob was way too overdone and chewy and tough with no flavor at all. The chicken gyro was scant and tasteless - nothing but an explosion of lettuce when opened. One of the lemon wedges still had the stickers on it. Not one, but two stickers. Makes me wonder..... were they even washed??? The baklava was standard. The rice pudding is always good. My husband and son enjoyed their regular gyros. We will of course give them another chance because we've ordered from them for so long, but for over $100, this meal was terrible. read more

I had Gyro World during a Yelp event and honestly, it was much better then than it was on this visit. The service was still good, and the ambiance is bright and welcoming, which I appreciated. The gyro itself was just okay this time, nothing too memorable. The fries were good definitely needed some salt, but that's just my personal preference. The chicken skewer was solid and probably the highlight of the meal. My biggest issue was the Greek salad. It was mostly cucumbers, and the feta cheese had a really strange flavor. I'm not sure what brand they use, but I've never tasted feta like that before, and not in a good way. It completely threw me off. That experience alone was enough to turn me away. Now, I'm picky with my gyro and my souvlaki because of my heritage and so I can honestly say they hit it out of the park at Gyro World. We started with the traditional Greek salad and combination platter because it wouldn't be summer without these staples. The tomatoes were garden fresh and cold and but the feta stole the show. It was so good I'm sure it came from their pet goat in the yard! The gyro and souvlaki combo platters were perfectly cooked and surprisingly not greasy. Gyros are one of my favorite comfort foods and of the gyros I've tried around New York City, Gyro World is the place that keeps me coming back for more consistently. The quality of the food is apparent and my only regret after any visit is that I can't help myself and wind up eating my meal all in one sitting when the sensible thing to do would be to split the generous portions throughout at least 2-3 meals. A massively full stomach is the price you pay for top-notch ingredients, fast and friendly service and a no-frills operation. Would've been a 4 but we had an awkward service experience. Came here for the "Yelp Gyro" and it was honestly pretty decent. The hummus spread that they put on it gave it a unique taste. I'd definitely suggest grabbing some tzatziki on the side because they didn't give me any when I ordered. Also ordered the calamari and I'm surprised as how fantastic it was. I'd definitely go there again just to order that and grab some pita on the side as well! I placed a large order via the app on Friday night - 3 large meat plates, some rice & lemon potatoes - for pick up today. I called on Saturday to confirm the order & today to make some changes. The lady I spoke to was so nice. Everything was delicious. We had way more food than 20 people could eat. They even included a couple of containers of rice pudding. Each of the 3 families took home a rather heavy tin of food. We received so many compliments on the change up in food (usually Italian or Chinese) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed being able to choose what they wanted to eat. My favorite was the beef skewers and the pork. Glad I requested extra tzatziki, we went through all of it. Best of all, I got a 20% discount by using the app for the first time. Came in around lunch time and stumbled upon this place. We both got the chicken souvlaki lunchbox special. The presentation is super convenient & cute!! You do get the option to change your sides; lemon potatoes, rice or French fries (+1$). The chicken itself is quite tender and the fries did not disappoint. The white taziki sauce was more on the chunky side, but I didn't mind it. The service was patient with us, they are definitely strong on the "providing customer service" as they were very bright and passionate. For myself, I ordered a fish sandwich now he did mention that he probably would not recommend this item but I still wanna have an ordered it and I am 100% happy with my decision. The fish sandwich came with two fried pieces of fish, lettuce, tomato on a bun and a side of tartar sauce. The sandwich was a great size, but I just realized from having the sandwich that I've never had a real fish sandwich. The sandwich is highly recommended. I was in the area and been craving for Greek food since it's been a while. GyroWorld is Mediterranean fare and when you walk in, you're immediately greeted by the wafting smell of gyro and romantic Greek music playing overhead (I had no clue what the lyrics are saying but it sounded very romantic to me). This location happened to be a block from where I parked so it was quite convenient considering it was below 30°F outside at the time and I didn't want to be walking any further than that in the cold. It was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday (only one table of customers). I've been having a hard time finding pork gyro in this part of Queens - most places either tell me they don't serve it or had sold out for the day. I was so glad that GyroWorld has it! The girl at the counter seemed only a few years younger than me and was great at customer service. She strongly insisted I didn't need to tip since I'm ordering to-go and before I could say anything, she pressed "skip" on the tip screen for me. Personally, I tip regardless of whether I dine in or not so even though it was too late to do it on my card, I gave her a tip in cash (especially because she was so sweet and truly wasn't asking for anything; I just hope that others would do the same). I also really wished I had found this place sooner because just look at the packaging!! It's like an adult Greek happy meal!! My inner child was so excited seeing this. The pork was so flavorful - even the charred bits - and the sides paired so beautifully with it. I was craving Greek Food so I ordered from here. This place place was recommended to me by a friend/colleague. I ordered Baklava, Spinach Pie, and the Combo of 2 Platter (Chicken Souvlaki, Grilled Chicken Breast, Homemade French Fries, Greek Salad, Pita Bread) and a side of extra Tzatziki Sauce. The chicken was well seasoned. I'm not sure what type of potatoes they used, but the fries were limp. There was no crunch and they need extras seasoning. I seasoned the fries with garlic salt and parsley. You have to dip the fries into the tzatziki sauce. If not then they're lackluster on their own. The salad was fresh, but I didn't care for the side of dressing. I used Ken's Country French dressing instead. The tzatziki sauce was nice and creamy. I love that it wasn't runny but on the thick side. The Spinach Pie was not good. There was too much dill and the crust wasn't flaky. I'm not sure if they used phyllo dough. It seemed like a puff pastry crust. Also the baklava was horrible. I definitely won't be ordering those two items again. read more

They sent more than half the order full of fried zucchini. If you're paying for calamari you should get calamari. I did not pay fish prices to get zucchini.
