We tried the chicken over rice platter and the Chicken Chaplin wrap. It was our first time ordering so we asked were a little confused on the toppings so we asked told them with everything. The toppings were fresh. The white sauce and the green cilantro sauce was very good. Love both preparations of chicken . Over rice was chopped chicken with basmati rice, salad and a handful of French fries. The fries were crispy and not salty. The Chapli chicken was cooked on the griddle and had nice spice marinate. I'll start with the positive. The establishment is bright with white lights and appears to be clean in the seating area. I was impressed that the cook and food handler wore gloves. Up until the point that the cook took his gloved hands and draped them through his apparently greasy hair while preparing the food. While I hesitantly overlooked that weird practice what really struck me was what was next. The cook then struggled to open up a squirt bottle of special sauce, then he started to pour additional filler sauce into that same overused bottle. Although it wouldn't normally strike me as outlandish but as I gandered into the bottom of the bottle top I noticed days if not weeks if not months if not years if not decades if not centuries if not millenniums of gunk trapped inside of it. The Establishment was busy during the lunch hours 12pm. The inside was clean like always.I love it. But today the chicken gyro I got was not it. The chicken wasn't seasoned enough. The food here is seriously swimming in a heavy amount of oil. If you like that, then this place is for you. This is the worst Halal Munchies I've been to. Tried the Philly cheese steak. It was an oil laden mess. I grabbed the sandwich and my hands got covered in a thick layer of grease. My fingers heavily glistened with oil. The parchment paper covering it, was totally soaked through, with pools of oil on the foil wapping. The parchment was soaked in so much oil, it looked like Cling plastic wrap. Dang! I took a bite anyway, to see what it tastes like. One word, 'yuck'. Other locations put a paper plate between the foil and the sandwich, this place does not. Does this make a difference? Yes. Tried a rice dish. This is also very oily and very salty. Some of the French fries had a strange chewy texture. It's overly spiced in general. Apparently this is a dual location, also serving chapli food. Asked server what it is. He says, "It's healthy. It's kebabs made fresh daily". I'm thinking to myself, when is a fried meat patty considered healthy? What is chapli? A popular street food originating from Afghanistan and Pakistan. Usually oval shaped meat patties, with usually around 20% fat added, along with different spices/ ingredients like dried pomegranate seeds, coriander seeds, chili flakes, green chili peppers, tomato, and garlic. I guess pomegranate seeds make it healthy. Service. Not particularly efficient. Waited a while before someone came over to take our order. Ambiance. Nothing special. I went once in the past but arrived after their closing time; this was before they expanded their spot, which is now twice the size it once was. Located right on Springfield blvd across from the gas station. Several tables to sit and eat inside too. I decided to get the chicken over rice, $9.99 before tax, and the portion size was great. They fried the fries fresh once I ordered; came with chicken, rice, fries, and salad that had chopped tomatoes and cucumbers in it. Fries and chicken had awesome flavor, salad was good too. Their white sauce and hot sauce are delicious. Now...the rice I was not a total fan of, which is why I couldn't give a 5 star rating. It has too much of a particular spice,which is very aromatic as well, but I can't put my finger on exactly which spice it is. They offered me a soda with the meal but I declined. I called for ordering in advance, and the person on the phone replied to me that food is ready in 5 minutes. Therefore, I rushed to the store. When I arrived, my order was not even cooked yet. It still took me 20 minutes standing in the restaurant for my two lunch boxes. Then why bother to call for orders? The taste is not consistent either. I really enjoyed it and I didn't even have the munchies! Just a breastfeeding mom, hella hungry after a walk at Alley Pond Park. I had my husband order for me and had low expectations because ya know. Chicken and rice can go either way. But I was pleasantly surprised that my platter was bangin'. The rice was different than other establishments... It was brown rather than yellow. But it was good. Gave off a cinnamon fragrance too. I just love that the platter came with fries. They have literal munchie food at an affordable price- chicken sandwiches, Philly cheese, etc. but what they are known for it is the halal food WITH FRIES! Never order for pick-up. I got there 10 minutes after I made the order and walked in for them only to tell me I was too late and that they threw out my order. I'm not joking not exaggerating. They re-made my order but not before helping others that were there. Thankfully they threw in a complimentary gyro but it was not necessary at all- it just added time to my order. I don't believe this food spoils within 10 minutes of being made, so I don't understand why they made the call to throw it out. They told me to next time come within 3 minutes.
