First introduced to me as a Chicken Lover's dupe, I certainly had high expectations going in. I got a standard 1/2 chicken 1/4 ribs combo that comes with 2 sides. It comes with the infamous green sauce and a pita. Flavor wise, it's pretty spot on! The chicken has a nice char and the smokiness of the grill is there. Ribs were also great, nice smoky BBQ flavor. There is a lot of food for this combo so be prepared! The green sauce is not as tangy as CL, but it holds up pretty well. Favorite sides are the rice, corn, and broccoli. For the amount of food given, the price is very fair and they have a number of different combinations based of what you're craving. This is a great spot for grilled chicken and ribs, honestly an alternative to Chicken Lovers in Bayside with shorter wait and similar food. We order the family combos regularly when hanging out with friends, and it's great for sharing. The chicken and ribs are both juicy and the combos come with pita bread. The green sauce it comes with is a yogurt based cilantro sauce with a hint of spice. I love the smokiness of the meats from the grill, and each bite makes me want to go back for another. I got a too good to go from here and then paid for some extra sides. For the TGTG I paid $5.99 and got rice, mashed potatoes and ribs. The ribs were 90% fat unfortunately but the potatoes and rice were good. I purchased the baked potatoes, green sauce, Mac and cheese and cucumber salad. The potatoes were good. The cucumber salad was some of the blandest cucumbers I've ever had. I don't think I'd be back. Plus it's "grade pending" which I don't love read more

Danny's Grill is my go to spot when I'm craving well cooked ribs and not dry chicken. The food is consistently delicious, and there's a solid variety of options to choose from. My usual order is the whole chicken and a full rack of ribs with four sides. I find that it's the perfect combo if you're hungry or sharing. The meats are all cooked over an open flame grill so you get the smokey grilled flavor. The mac and cheese is always cheesy and the "roasted" potatoes are seasoned well and soft, easily two of my favorite sides. The real standout is the green sauce. I don't know what it's really called or what's in it, but it's super flavorful and goes with everything. When I say I put it in everything, I put that on everything. The atmosphere is extremely casual inside, and the service is pretty decent. Staff is friendly and efficient. Just note that seating inside is limited, so if you're with a group or going during peak hours, be prepared to wait or consider takeout. I live just east of the Queens and Nassau border and have been going to Chicken Lovers for years. However the service has gotten very inconsistent while the price has steadily increased which I understand. Recently we decided to order a whole bbq chicken and rack of ribs with 4 sides. It was around 5:30pm but I was informed that it would take well over 90 minutes in order to fulfill my order. My family and I drive to Bell Blvd to kill time abd when it was time to pick up our Chicken Livers order, I was informed that the bbq ribs were not ready and that they ran out of mac n cheese. My family was famished so I decided to cancel the rack of ribs and go with another whole chicken and instead of the Mac n cheese I opted for another side of broccoli. The. Chicken was delicious as usual but not getting the bbq rack of ribs really left us feeling very disappointed. Fast forward 2 weeks and my family was hankering for bbq chicken and ribs. Instead of ordering ftom Chicken Lovers we opted to order from Danny's Grill. I know there is some history between thje 2 places. I think the owner of Danny's Grill used to be affiliated with Chicken Lovers. DG is on Bell Blvd a few miles south around 73rd ave and is a small place but they crank out tons of delicious bbq chicken, racks of ribs and chicken wings and other yummy food. The best part of it was my order of 2 whole bbq chickens, rack of ribs and 4 sides was ready in about 20 min tops. Plenty of street parking without worrying about getting your car dented by some idiot in the small crammed parking lot out of of Chicken Lovers. The comparison to Chicken Lover's is inevitable because I'm pretty sure Danny used to work at Chicken Lover's and decided to open his own place. The menu is pretty much the same, offering grilled chicken and ribs, along with other menu items. I know Chicken Lover's pared down their menu by a lot, concentrating on chicken and ribs because their business was booming, but Danny's has retained a lot of the old menu with burgers, chicken nuggets & wings. Now they have expanded to offering grilled meat skewers, good for quick snacking. But we come mainly for the grilled chicken and ribs and we usually get the Large Family Meal, which is a whole grilled chicken and a whole rack of barbecued ribs, accompanied by 4 large side dishes and 2 pitas. For a small family like us, we have a lot of leftovers for the week. The chicken is smoky in flavor and the ribs are coated in BBQ sauce. To round out the meal, we get broccoli, mac & cheese, niblet corn and our favorite, the savory rice. Sometimes we'll double up on the rice because it's just that good. Don't forget the spicy green sauce. I like to drizzle it on the white meat chicken and wrap it up in pita bread. Danny's is just way more convenient than Chicken Lovers because it's slightly closer to us and there is always plenty of parking on the street as well as the lot in back. Great food! Like very good food, everything is cooked wonderfully and quite flavorful. It satisfies a lot of what you're looking for when coming to a local queens bbq spot, Smokey. But this is a classic case of unfriendly service, I've been in here on multiple occasions and it's one of those stores where the cashier look at you like you owe them something, two separate cashiers not just one on multiple occasions. Honestly if ur coming here for the chicken, just go to chicken lovers, it's practically the same thing but you get more food there. Chicken is good but I don't recommend the Mac and cheese or the rice as there's no flavor in the rice and I saw the worker pour bagged shredded cheese directly into the Mac and cheese in the warmer and it was very bland. The worker also wasn't wearing gloves when dishing out the sides which was a little off putting and the customer service is decent. Sitting in isn't bad but it's definitely more of a takeout spot. I used to order grilled chicken somewhere else, but since it's close to my house, I started ordering again, but the taste is different from the first time, and I wonder how they sell food that comes out undercooked. I'm a huge fan of Chicken Lovers so when I saw Danny's Grill opened and the menu was very similar, I knew I had to try it out. Since it's not as popular yet, the service is much faster. You can also order ahead of time for pick up, which is what I usually do and it's basically ready when they say it is, unlike Chicken Lovers which often gets backed up and my order gets delayed. The most popular items here are the grilled chicken and ribs, which is similar to Chicken Lovers. Even their sides are very similar. In terms of taste, I've recently started to prefer Danny's Grill more because their meats are very tender, even the breast! Meanwhile, Chicken Lovers has gotten inconsistent and can sometimes be dry. The chicken was nicely charred and flavorful but not too salty. Their ribs are also has just the right amount of bbq sauce, it can be annoying when it's too saucey. The sides are very comparable to Chicken Lovers. I love getting the rice. It's so flavorful and goes so well with the meats. I've also tried their other sides like the broccoli, corn, mashed potatoes, and baked potatoes but there's so much more on the menu! They're all pretty good, but the mac & cheese isn't creamy enough for me and their fries were very underwhelming and needs seasoning. The green sauce is my favorite part of ordering from both here and Chicken Lovers. It's so flavorful and I put it on everything! Pairs so well with all the meats, delicious on the sides, perfect with the pita, can be used for anything and everything. The best deal is to get the family combo but their prices are pretty reasonable overall. My family and I have been getting chicken lovers for years and wanted to see how it would compare. Overall, the food here was kind of bland. The chicken didn't have much flavor and it was also slightly undercooked which threw me off. I also got a side of rice and corn, which were decent but not great. And most importantly, the green sauce. It was definitely different - more runny and again, seemed to be lacking something. I got small ribs, a grilled chicken thigh, corn and mashed potatoes. I thought their ribs and chicken were really tasty and cooked perfectly. the sides were not impressive. They were not horrible. First time here and wanted to give a good review because the people that worked there were chill but the flavor was just bad. The chicken was so chewy , bony , and oily so much so , that the oil leaked and gushed out the plastic bag it came in when I ordered pick up. Nasty. Also the broccoli had no flavor just cheap water steam. On top of that the chicken had many areas inside it was very pink and even red. I don't trust eating it especially combined with the highly oily weird flavor so I had to take it off. The bread they gave was dry and flavorless and the green sauce everyone said was "so good" was just regular green sauce any halal cart or Mexican spot also has. Nothing special. Chicken was also solid with great flavors Sides - very underwhelming, almost at a point where we might not order them and just make the sides ourselves. Rice tastes like it's just rice and oil, cucumber salad had no flavor where we had to add vinegar, sugar, lemon juice and herbs to somewhat recreate the salad. All this to say, sides are wizack. Chicken: I'm not exactly sure if they cook their chicken entirely on the grill, but I know at some point it is spatchcocked (the backbone removed so the meat can lay flat on the grill) where you get the flavor the grill, but it can also tend to dry out the meat. Generally tasty and enjoyable. Ribs: BBQ sauced with decent flavor. The meat is tender, but not fall off the bone tender which is good thing I think with the meat still having some structure. Corn: Forgettable. Canned? Rice: A Spanish style rice orange in color with large bay leaves throughout. I don't usually order this, but usually get it with a Too Good To Go* order. Broccoli: Steamed and fairly plain. At least it is healthy. Sweet Potatoes: Cut into tender chunks - even plainly cooked sweet potatoes are good so this is a good bet. Baked Potatoes: Perhaps my favorite side. They have a bit of dill (other herbs?) and are large solid tender chunks, Mashed Potatoes: Instant potatoes? Fairly insipid and forgettable. Not much flavor from the gravy either. Another item I usually get with Too Good To Go* Mac & Cheese: A bit on the dry side, but edible. Not a lot of cheese flavor, but will do if you insist on mac and cheese. Green Sauce: This is the creamy Peruvian kind I was introduced to from Pio Pio. People in the area will compare it to Chicken Lovers. I find this one a little watered down, but the flavor is good. My friend likes that it isn't so thick feels it coats better. Danny's is a solid deal for the money. The portions are generous. The lunch specials are really good because they pack it in - you get a canned soda and also comes with grilled warm pita bread. *Too Good to Go: I noticed they've been offering a deal for $5.99 all day long now. You don't get to pick the items, but last time and usually I get some chicken, ribs, and couple of sides. The ribs were on the smallish side. The chicken was flavorful and moist and the ribs were good. The BBQ sauce could use a little spice kick to it but I guess for the majority of people it was fine.
