The food is good! The chef really knows what he's doing. And I apparently went to Queens College with him (FB). The service is always spotty. I've seen a restaurant 4 times as big in Nashville, TN served by one person! Nadezhda has close to a dozen of workers not communicating with each other, just running around. Also, on the last 4 visits, half of the menu wasn't available. As for ambiance, it's a Bukharian restaurant with above average food. What else is there to say? Bright lights, loud tables all around you. Everyone knows each other, so don't be shocked when a table behind you wants to shake hands with the table in front of you. Over your head. Excellent fair for very reasonable price. I had Lagman (beef soup w hand rolled noodle), and a mixed meat kabob. The food was very tasty and well made. This is a rather large restaurant that could accommodate a large group. The decor is simple and basic but clean and modern. Service was very cortious and pleasant. I'll say this, I like this place. I've been here a couple of times, and it's been pretty good. The food is almost always good, but there are often times when the liver specifically is undercooked, so I no longer order that here. I just ordered from this place through Uber Eats. The photos DO NOT represent what you get, it's totally deceiving. I ordered the skirt steak which is basically 2 tiny cubes for 10 dollars. It is not even enough to be a child portion. The honey cake was stale. The french fries were in a pile soggy and greasy. The Avocado salad was basically big chunky tomatoes with a piece of avocado sliced on top. I called them and they won't refund anything, and Uber Eats also gave me the runaround. We went for a diner, and we were waiting for the soups like 40 minutes, then when we finished the soups, just the French fries arrived, when it was already cold (20 min later), the next dish came - potatoes with mushrooms. My husband and I had marinated lamb and skirt steak kebabs, and they were full of flavor and excellent. The fried potatoes with mushrooms were fantastic. Our server was friendly and patient. Went there for dinner. A family of 12 was sitting near by with several kids, one crying and 2 running around screaming. The noise was so loud it was so Unpleasant. I will start off by saying great food. Now...back drop. I had just been leg-shackled for about a week and due to our sordid familial traditions which I will say are pure torture, we had to go out to a restaurant for the 7th time that week to celebrate. Came here only once. I ask for an order to go. The waitress didn't speak English so it was kinda hard to order. They are kinda rude and do not know how to behave with a customer. I love their shulpa and variety of salads, so delicious! We come here from Manhattan for their soup. Also I like to learn their way of making salads, which are all very healthy but don't feel like eating healthy because it is so flavorful and rich in spices. Yummy! I can't really comment on the food because we walked out before ordering. The reason we walked out before ordering is that we were virtually ignored from the moment we walked in the door. The place was only 1/2 full and we stood at the door for a few minutes, completely invisible. Then we figured we would seat ourselves and again were completely ignored by every wait person/host/staff member who passed us. This is actually a restaurant. When we went there was some type of Russian ladies celebration going on. I think it was a birthday party. It was really fun! There was a lady singing russian songs and then other older women began to dance and sing. All the while, regular patrons such as myself were sitting and watching. Fortuna is in direct competition with Registan across the street. I think Registan has better babaganosh, but Fortuna has better lamb kebabs. It's a toss up! But I really hate mayo babaganoush, so I might pick Registan just for that. read more
