For 13.5 you get a huge plate of food good for 2 people. Able to add your own sauces with bottles from the table.

Absolutely amazing. The service is kind and considerate. The food is on another level of taste. Stop playing around. You want Afghan food? Come here!

No frills spot with big portions, cheap prices, and quality food. The server first provides a basic house salad with lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Nothing special but a good precursor to the meal. The bread that comes with the rice platter is a nice touch; good crispiness. Not the best bread you'll have but it's a good palette cleanser for while eating the rice and meats. Meat and rice are pretty good for the price. My large plate of food came out to just $13. Super wild. The unlimited white sauce and green sauce table side is a must for Afghan food and they are not stingy with it here. The ambiance is definitely one of those local spots that is more geared towards comfort and casual dining. Popular spot amongst the local for sure. Overall this is my go-to spot for fast Afghan food.

Definitely one of my top three favorite places for Kabab. We usually get for Sunday brunch the family combo ($33) which feeds 4-6 normal people. We usually ask for carrots & raisin with the rice. Today we are going for the Bakhtar Special ($85); 5 lamb chops, 4 chicken Tikka, 4 chicken Kufta, 3 beef Tikka, 2 beef Kufta, 2 lamb Tikka, with rice, salad & bread. I asked for carrot & raisin with the rice for additional $10. We can feed an army.

#8 Family Combo - 6 skewers (2 chicken kufta, 1 beef kufta, 1 lamb Tika, 1 beef Tika, 1 chicken Tika) with rice, salad and bread

When all your South Asian friends tell you to eat here, you know that this place is good. Well, I am glad I heeded to their advice because this is the best halal meal my family and I have had! We ordered the Family combo which includes 2 chix kufta, 1 beef kufta, 1 lamb tikka, 1 beef tikka, and 1 chix tikka over a big pile of heavenly rice. Oh goodness, I'm salavating just typing this all out and now craving to have dinner there again! The meats were cooked to perfection - right amount of chewiness, tenderness, moistness and whatever -ness I can think of. Even the rice was heavenly. Give me that rice even without the meat and I will still be happy. Portions are perfect for sharing. The family combo fed our group of 5 and we still had a doggie bag at the end. We also tried the Kulfi popsicles and they were the perfect dessert that sealed the we-will-definitely-be-back deal. !!! Note: this place is CASH only !!!

Very good food. Service was good as well. I will go again with friends. The Kebabs were so delicious. Absolutely loved the experience.

This place has some amazing kebabs, well seasoned with good flavor. I actually had two orders to go. The portions are huge for the price. And it comes with a piece of bread and salad. The rice is always super dry , so that's where the white and green sauce comes in. But before covid, I remember both tasting much better. Now the white sauce is super watered down , so was the green sauce. But since it was a to go order , I just used the sauces I had at home. Overall it was good. The inside is a lot more run down now, trash on the floor everywhere , stains on the ceilings; it's def an older look compared to a couple years ago. Also, heads up- it's cash only !

Nothing bad to ever say about their food. Has been consistently amazing for the past however many years I've been here! If the owners redid the decor to make it feel more like a sit down restaurant rather than have fast food vibes, I'm sure other people including myself would dine in more frequently

I came in to see if I could just get some kebab's for take out but ended up feeling more adventurous on this nice day. I got chicken tandoori. Each entree comes with white or brown basmati rice, salad, homemade bread, and a side of either okra stew, pea and potato stew, lamb stew, spinach stew or curry chicken stew. As a lamb fan, I choose lamb stew. My friend had a kabob combo of chicken and beef kabobs with a salad and homemade bread. I soooo wanted to love this place since the prices didn't seem to be too high. At 7.99/meal, it was a good deal until I saw the food in the takeout containers. Jamaicans and Dominicans in the area only charge like $5 for the same amount of food but give a lot more meat, sauce, and side (plaintains). In a standard 3 section takeout box, 2/3 was filled with just rice and my tandoori in a little portion in one. It was not that flavorful and a little dry. The rice was good but how hard is rice? I love the lemon in the salad though for its freshness and loud "crisp". But following the same train of thought, how hard is salad? My friend's food was a little better. His bread was laid under the kabobs so flavor drained into it. My bread was light and buttery though but I just liked his better. His kabobs were not on sticks so I don't know how there kabobs but that's what they called them. My biggest complaint has to be the quality of meat. The stew was well seasoned but the lamb in it was so fatty I felt like I was eating pork. After a while, I had to keep looking to see if I was eating a lamb or beef kabob because the texture was so off for either really. I wanted to like this food so much more since the service was so good and they were sooo friendly. Usually when my guy friend and I walk in to non-black restaurants the servers are a little taken back (he's a giant haitian boxer) but here they were very friendly and helpful in food info. and helping us order. Overall, I would probably try a few more spots in the area before settling on one but If I didn't want anything else I would get a kabob or two.

For appetizers, we got the Sabzi which was a nice vegetarian option with spinach, as well as the small afghan salad (normal diced cucumbers and tomatoes), the mantu dumplings which were pretty good and the Afghan naan which is just a vehicle for eating the dips. I would 1000% come here again and bring a friend if I were in Astoria. It seems popular with both locals and larger groups of families; lots of the tables inside had kids. It appears to be BYOB though we stuck to sparkling water.

Today my other half was in the mood for lamb so I ordered the lamb shank kabuli again along with the chef combo which consisted of lamb chop, lamb tikka, chicken and fish over rice. The chef combo is probably my least favorite because it's more rice than meats. The meats provided were pretty much a tasting instead of a full kebab (e.g. chicken and fish).
