For 13.5 you get a huge plate of food good for 2 people. Able to add your own sauces with bottles from the table.

Absolutely amazing. The service is kind and considerate. The food is on another level of taste. Stop playing around. You want Afghan food? Come here!

No frills spot with big portions, cheap prices, and quality food. The server first provides a basic house salad with lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Nothing special but a good precursor to the meal. The bread that comes with the rice platter is a nice touch; good crispiness. Not the best bread you'll have but it's a good palette cleanser for while eating the rice and meats. Meat and rice are pretty good for the price. My large plate of food came out to just $13. Super wild. The unlimited white sauce and green sauce table side is a must for Afghan food and they are not stingy with it here. The ambiance is definitely one of those local spots that is more geared towards comfort and casual dining. Popular spot amongst the local for sure. Overall this is my go-to spot for fast Afghan food.

Definitely one of my top three favorite places for Kabab. We usually get for Sunday brunch the family combo ($33) which feeds 4-6 normal people. We usually ask for carrots & raisin with the rice. Today we are going for the Bakhtar Special ($85); 5 lamb chops, 4 chicken Tikka, 4 chicken Kufta, 3 beef Tikka, 2 beef Kufta, 2 lamb Tikka, with rice, salad & bread. I asked for carrot & raisin with the rice for additional $10. We can feed an army.

When all your South Asian friends tell you to eat here, you know that this place is good. Well, I am glad I heeded to their advice because this is the best halal meal my family and I have had! We ordered the Family combo which includes 2 chix kufta, 1 beef kufta, 1 lamb tikka, 1 beef tikka, and 1 chix tikka over a big pile of heavenly rice. Oh goodness, I'm salavating just typing this all out and now craving to have dinner there again! The meats were cooked to perfection - right amount of chewiness, tenderness, moistness and whatever -ness I can think of. Even the rice was heavenly. Give me that rice even without the meat and I will still be happy. Portions are perfect for sharing. The family combo fed our group of 5 and we still had a doggie bag at the end. We also tried the Kulfi popsicles and they were the perfect dessert that sealed the we-will-definitely-be-back deal. !!! Note: this place is CASH only !!!

Very good food. Service was good as well. I will go again with friends. The Kebabs were so delicious. Absolutely loved the experience.

This place has some amazing kebabs, well seasoned with good flavor. I actually had two orders to go. The portions are huge for the price. And it comes with a piece of bread and salad. The rice is always super dry , so that's where the white and green sauce comes in. But before covid, I remember both tasting much better. Now the white sauce is super watered down , so was the green sauce. But since it was a to go order , I just used the sauces I had at home. Overall it was good. The inside is a lot more run down now, trash on the floor everywhere , stains on the ceilings; it's def an older look compared to a couple years ago. Also, heads up- it's cash only !

For the main course we ordered a kebab platter for 4 people. Three kabobs of your choice, served with white or green (dill) rice. The kabobs here are the best I've ever had (I've been here many times, but this is my first review). This is one of my favorite restaurants in the five boroughs. Check it out. I came in to see if I could just get some kebab's for take out but ended up feeling more adventurous on this nice day. I got chicken tandoori. Each entree comes with white or brown basmati rice, salad, homemade bread, and a side of either okra stew, pea and potato stew, lamb stew, spinach stew or curry chicken stew. As a lamb fan, I choose lamb stew. My friend had a kabob combo of chicken and beef kabobs with a salad and homemade bread. I soooo wanted to love this place since the prices didn't seem to be too high. At 7.99/meal, it was a good deal until I saw the food in the takeout containers. Jamaicans and Dominicans in the area only charge like $5 for the same amount of food but give a lot more meat, sauce, and side (plaintains). In a standard 3 section takeout box, 2/3 was filled with just rice and my tandoori in a little portion in one. It was not that flavorful and a little dry. The rice was good but how hard is rice? I love the lemon in the salad though for its freshness and loud "crisp". But following the same train of thought, how hard is salad? My friend's food was a little better. His bread was laid under the kabobs so flavor drained into it. My bread was light and buttery though but I just liked his better. His kabobs were not on sticks so I don't know how there kabobs but that's what they called them. My biggest complaint has to be the quality of meat. The stew was well seasoned but the lamb in it was so fatty I felt like I was eating pork. After a while, I had to keep looking to see if I was eating a lamb or beef kabob because the texture was so off for either really. I wanted to like this food so much more since the service was so good and they were sooo friendly. Usually when my guy friend and I walk in to non-black restaurants the servers are a little taken back (he's a giant haitian boxer) but here they were very friendly and helpful in food info. and helping us order. Overall, I would probably try a few more spots in the area before settling on one but If I didn't want anything else I would get a kabob or two.

Chicken Chapli was great before but I wanted to try the jujeh kabob because it was pictured in the menu. I always assume if the restaurant chooses to feature a particular dish visually on the menu, there must be something to it. It's good. Similar to the chapli the jujeh kabob has that intimidating color and spicy aroma and you'd naturally feel timid about burning your esophagus. But it's not like that. The bone in chicken pieces are very tender and there's citrus notes there along with the char from the grill. Super tasty.

While perusing the menu trying to figure out what we were going to order I went back and forth between the combos. I looked at their combos to see if there was anything that could feed a family of two, but everything was geared towards a family of four and more. The combos are ridiculously priced. You'd think you were buying a few catering trays. We ultimately settled on two orders of the Two Chicken Tikka and the Chicken Samosas. I asked for extra white sauce and Pamir did not oblige. I didn't care for the samosas, nor the chicken tikka meal. My husband liked it. He also preferred the white sauce from here instead of Kabul's. While the food was decent it doesn't compare to Kabul. It was a solid 3.5. I was really taken aback by the size of the chicken kebabs and the portions we received. The kebabs were extremely small. There wasn't enough for any leftovers.

The food: Borani Banjan- This was the highlight app for me with some freshly made Afghai Naan. Man this was so good and a must order. The eggplant was cooked perfectly. Bamia- This was like a stewed Okra and I loved this dish, the okra was cooked down but the flavor was so damn good. Mantu- This was a nice delicate dumpling, it was made well but because of the cumin I couldn't help think it reminded me of Tex Mex food. Aushuk- This was OK, it was kinda strange because there was this fermented flavor to it that kinda bothered me. Chicken Afghani Kabab- I am shocked to say this but the chicken was my favorite protein. It was perfection, it was perfectly juicy with a nice smokey outer char, this was amazing. Uzbeki Qabuli Pulao- This was a braised lamb shank and was no teeth required tender. It so incredibly delicate and so delicious. Salmon- Fat slabs of salmon cooked to perfection with a nice outer smokey char. So good. Lamb Kabab- This was fine but not as exciting as the above. The lamb was chewier than I was hoping but the flavor was nice. Beef Kofta- It was like a ground meat patty. It was ok, it was a bit chewy and a bit dry but it was alright. The two I want to try on my next visit is the shrimp and the lamb chops, can't wait for a second visit.

My friend and I got the barg kabob with naan and the Sabzi palak (beef with spinach) that we got with rice. Both were good, but I enjoyed the texture of the meat and spinach dish more. The rice was flavorful. I overheard Rafi explaining to the other table and folks that got takeout that it would be an extra charge, but he could customize their orders, which I thought was nice that he was very transparent with them upfront and willing to work with the customer so that they could order the items that they want. I also appreciated him explaining to my friend that Turkish coffee comes with sugar and not milk and clarifying if she was OK with that before he made the coffee. We were given free firnee. Rafi was kind to check if we are allergic to dairy before offering it to us. Overall, the food was good. Service was fine and there was free parking in the back.

We already knew what we wanted for our entrées but decided to start with a few appetizers. Based on her recommendation, we tried the Mantoo (steamed chicken dumplings) and Kashk Badenjan (eggplant dish). Both were flavorful and enjoyed by everyone at the table. For our main course, we ordered the Mixed Grill Combination, which included lamb tikka, lamb kebab, jujeh, and chicken tikka. The portion was generous--perfect for sharing and even better for leftovers. It happened to be my aunts birthday and we were offered a traditional Afghan dessert, Firnee. It was a pudding topped with pistachios. It was creamy and sweet. Such a thoughtful gesture. By the way they also offer BYOB, which is a nice bonus. Overall, great food, friendly service, and an enjoyable dining experience.
