I am truly confused by all of the positive reviews about this neighborhood sandwich shop. I knew to expect a "hole in the wall" kind of vibe, which I can forgive if the food is good. Unfortunately, it was not. Originally wanted a corned beef wrap-they didn't have corned beef. Fine. I asked what the difference is between pastrami and "crazy pastrami" and was told "it's the pickles they put it in and the craziness they do in the kitchen cutting it up". What that means remains unclear, but for $0.50 I went with the crazy pastrami. For the vegetables, I asked for lettuce, mushrooms, and black olives. The ingredients look like they've been sitting out for a few days, certainly not refrigerated. And they were put in a side-dish container with the mustard I asked for put on top then brought to the back to be incorporated into the wrap? Strange. The wrap itself was difficult to eat. I ended up not even bothering with the vegetables as they were not enjoyable to taste. I have no idea what white sauce is all over the ingredients, as it was nothing I asked for. The pastrami was minimal in quantity and even this was meh. All of the restaurants in this area have a slight upcharge for being kosher, which I don't totally understand. But in the end I truly regret spending $17.50 on this meal. read more

I walked in when it was empty and ordered their most simple sandwich...I continued to wait about 20 minutes for anyone to come out of the back room where it was being made and after someone finally came out, it seemed like they were making their own food for when they leave. What a disaster, I Gave this schnitzel joint so many chances. Even though This place is under new management, but still a disappointment. I am a local and always try to support local businesses. This place has no idea what customer service is. There sandwiches can be good but are not always fresh. I personally used to sell Falafel & Schnitzel sandwiches this place rarely changes there oil. WOW...Clearly anyone who's ever eaten here and reviewed this place has no concern about health code violations whatsoever! IF YOU VALUE YOU HEALTH, STAY AWAY!!!!! And to those who wonder why I write this, here goes. Upon entering this place, you can see the place is poorly/never maintained. Chairs are ripped, table counters are filthy. Glass counter is covered in sauce droplets and all the food behind the glass is flaked on top of each other. I allowed a man to cut me while I pondered over the menu on the wall. The employee working behind the counter making sandwiches/Wraps had very poor knowledge of the food and the variety they write for the same exact piece of breaded chicken. Menu made no sense and a lot of the item were 86'd when asked about. So lets begin why this place needs to shut down tonight and forever. 1. There is No DOH food grading on the front door/entrance. I repeat... THERE IS NO SAFE FOOD INSPECTION GRADING! I looked up the establishment on the DOH website, it did not come up. This may only happen when a place is fairly new, which in this situation is not true since I came here once nearly a decade now. 2. The place is filthy and they take the food to the back to make it. They do start to prep it in front of you in a paper tray but then send it to the back to place it in the wrap/sub and add the protein. 3. The front guy did not change his gloves once since I entered the place. He used the same gloved to grab food, open doors, touch walls, touch the cash register, take money, give change, and go back to making more food. Hello Bacteria wonder wall topped with an extra serving of ebola virus. Nice touch. 4. The same guy I allowed to cut me in line to order had his hand behind the counter over the food pointing at what he wanted in his 4 subs. please, why don't you just grab it yourself and place it, why don't you. The employee said nothing and had this dumbfounded look. 5. My wrap came out soaked in sauce... I mean soaked! They placed the fillers in a little dish to be sent back and placed with the rest of the food is unacceptable. 6. The wrap I ordered was the Mexican, which on the menu is made with GRILLED CHICKEN, the chicken inside my wrap was breaded and fried. AGAIN, NOT GRILLED LIKE IT CLAIMS. It looked as if cooked last week and overly fried. it was darkened in certain areas and was ultra greasy. I think it may have dropped on the floor and stomped on at one point. I took one look and threw the rest out. 7. The employee proceeded to take my money with the gloved and use the cash register. No cleanliness station or sink in sight. When my friend asked him to change his gloves, he asked him what his nationality was because he sounded "smart." I ask everyone reading this to consider all that I wrote and take it into account that I am doing this trying to save a life from future fatal food poisoning. If you don't believe my word or the review I posted, check out the place for yourself. What I still cant figure out is how they avoided being instigated by the DOH. Im not sure if they paid off the inspector or claim they're not a food serving establishment, but that sign itself will tell you all you need to know. The schnitzel was a little bit less then ok the first time. The next time it was kinda gross. I really wanted to like it but it was disgusting. I ordered the crispy schnitzel. Instead of bread crumbs the chicken is covered with cornflakes, good idea, horrible execution. Grocery stores sell cornflakes crumbs, they are expensive. When I heard they cover the chicken with this I was surprised because the price is 10$ or so which is ok. When I got my sandwich I realized it wasn't covered with the store bought crumbs, they smashed regular cornflakes and threw it on the chicken. When I got the sandwich I saw huge blank spots of chicken that is not even covered with crumbs, the portion that was covered had huge cornflakes just sitting there deep fried and gross. Service is horrible. Whoever works at 4pm on Wednesday and does the food will mess up your food 9/10 times. If you order from Uber eats they will not check the special instructions, they will not give u utensils if u order a salad... and if they don't have a vegetable like green olives they will replace it with something you might not like, like black olives without asking in my case, constantly finding hairs in my food, the food here used to be great, not sure how the owner let his store go this downhill in the past year. When getting a sandwich it is soo over toasted from the night shift that the paper gets stuck to the bread. Also if you get a drink through Uber eats and they don't have that flavor they will give you one of there choice instead of calling to confirm that's okay. I know Cisco and Ceaser personally as I used to be an active customer at the store... after today's mess up where they messed up my last 9/10 orders I will not be going back. Fast food joint, with good food (for the most part), but they really cut corners when it comes to hiring their employees. Lines are packed quite often and the employees are extremely careless. It's a place that might be okay to go to for takeout, but unless you want to sit in a cramped room with high school kids, I wouldn't recommend eating in. I've ordered over $100.00 worth of food to go once, and they left out a sandwich. They told me to come only when "shimmy" is there, to get a 2 free sandwiches. I came back many times, but "shimmy" was no where to be found .. I was with a group of friends once and the workers in the front were joking around with each other. We gave them a look, and they quickly went into the kitchen, and closed the door (so we couldn't see what was going on). 1 minute later we hear a scream and one of the guys got cut with a knife and was bleeding. Turns out they were having a knife fight in the back as a joke. They gave us the food, but we wouldn't eat it because it was probably contaminated. 1.95/5 Edit: Mark praises this place, so recently I have come around to giving it another shot. "Sandwich Bar" managed to find excellent employees who are both professional and fantastic at their job. The student special is an great incentive for a free drink with your meal ,,, Because the menu is simple, it is easy to navigate and you won't experience any tricks (you would be surprised at some places out there!!). The fried chicken sandwiches are generally a solid option to go with, though once Mark had a bite of the steak sandwich, he never went back to the schnitzel again. I will admit that the steak sandwich is both a great price and surprisingly filling. Chicken Bites/Tenders are the definition of AVERAGE quality finger snacks, though I would stay FAR away from the "poppers". The service in this place is horrific. I went and stood there for 30 minutes while they made me an amateur sandwich to go. I finally left after 30 minutes and when I got home I realized they had given me the wrong sandwich. There was only one other person there aside from me so it was really hard to mix up the order. I called them asking for a refund since I could not eat the sandwich due to certain dietary restrictions and was told to drive back and show the sandwich as proof. I ended up throwing the sandwich out. Will never go back. Was a regular customer before. Didn't get to dine in but I guess that's a good thing. My girl shared half her sandwich with me when I was starving. It was crispy chicken in corn flakes instead of that breading crap other places do and I got it cold otherwise mighta been 5 stars. But I didn't care I was hungry and this hit the spot. Bread was not chewy unlike some other places where if you don't eat it right away it gets chewy or soggy this was still fresh. Had spice banana peppers and they didn't skimp either so yay for not being stingy. And the usual lettuce tomato and not sure what sauce it was but mighta been garlic mayo. Either way it was a solid sandwich and next time I'll have her pick me up a few of my own since everyone tried to steal a bite of my half. When she told me where it was I had to yelp it since I ate it too fast to take a pic. I was surprised to find so many negative reviews. This was a huge disappointment, especially for the egregious prices. You would think that for over $30 for two sandwiches and two sides of fries you would get some quality. The ingredients weren't fresh and the service was horrible. The two employees working were more interested in talking to each other/texting than taking our orders and attending to them. It was my first time and every time I asked a question about the menu selections I was answered as if it was an inconvenience. I got a turkey deli and the meat was stale, slimy and there was far too much in the sandwich. My husband got a grilled chicken sandwich and there was not enough meat to fill the sandwich roll. When the fries were ready, they were just thrown at us and the employees proceeded to turn their backs on us again and continue talking. Next time I'll just go to subway. read more
