Ordered the Mixed Kebab, Chicken Seekh Kebab and Chicken Kabab. The 'Mixed Kebab" looked nothing at all like the image on UberEats, and I think they gave me four chicken kebabs by mistake. They tasted exactly the same. I guess they were decent. But I was expecting more given the depiction of the dish on UberEats. The Chana Masala, Palak Aloo, and Kerahi Shrimp entrees came DRENCHED in what seemed like a gallon of oil, occupying 1/3 of the container which left the contents dripping, even after we poured out the liquid, rendering them inedible. Photo attached for reference. The samosas were good, and reminded us of the samosas that Mehak in Kew Gardens used to make. The naan was large and good, and the mango lassi was also refreshing. But the bulk of the dinner (the entrees) were quite underwhelming and left much to be desired, especially given what we paid for it. I was Staying in an Airbnb, so decided to do a DoorDash. Overall, the food was very good. I started with a vegetable Samosa, and then went on to the boneless chicken tikka. I inadvertently ordered the large Shirazi naan, and I finished the order with a slice of the mango cake. Unfortunately, they delivered the food with no silverware, napkins, or anything. I had to make do with what I had at my Airbnb. The Samosa was very good. It was not oily or greasy at all, and the filling was delicious. However, it was almost too spicy for me. It was right up to the very edge of what I like for spice. My forehead was definitely sweating. It did taste good though. The boneless chicken tikka was also very good, before I ordered it, I called the restaurant and asked if they could make it non-spicy. They said that it had already been marinated, but it was not very spicy. I should've remembered that "not very spicy" for a Pakistani restaurant is a bit different it had a rich complex flavor, and while it was also spicy, it was not as spicy as the Samosa was. I could definitely taste the spice, but it didn't overwhelm the Dish. I liked it a lot. It also came with a tzatziki type sauce and a tamarind sauce, both which were very, very good. I inadvertently ordered a large order of the naan-bread, and it was huge. It was very good, I'm not sure what type of spices they used, but I did like it a lot, even though a few small spots on the bread were burnt. I was able to finish most of it, but not all of it. They gave me two slices of cake, even though I ordered only one. The first was a white cake, which was moist and tender and delicious. The mango cake was also moist and tender, and I could definitely taste the mango. Overall, this was a very good meal. When it comes to Pakistani food, nothing really compares to Mom's home cooking so I am going to be selective when it comes to dining in a Pakistani restaurant. Shirazi Karahi is a spot located in my old neighborhood and I've been meaning to try out their karahi dishes. I somehow managed to make my way here and luckily we got immediately seated with no wait time. The place was almost at full capacity. The dining experience has an elevated diner appeal with booths for families to sit in and some level of privacy. Their Karahi dishes are excellent with their house made rotis or biryani or both if you're down for the carb overload ! ... but next to Karahi dishes (they serve the food in an actual Karahi for that homely feel) their sizzling dishes are just as attractive...don't worry, once you get seated and waiting to give your order, you will see (and smell) the dishes coming out! Spacious with a nice ambiance and quick service. Parking is difficult since it's queens, but not impossible. We got the beef bihari kebab for an appetizer, achari chicken karahi with butter naan for the entree, and mango lassi for a drink. The sizzling beef Bihari kebab was so tender and had just the right amount of spice. The onions mixed in added a nice char and complimented the beef well. The mango lassi was a bit underwhelming. The achari chicken had a nice tang of tomato with medium spice. Overall I would rate the meal a solid 3.5 on a scale of 5 with prices that did not hurt the pocket. read more

Shirazi Karahi is absolutely fantastic and a must visit for amazing Pakistani food. At Shirazi Karahi, you must have their karahi of course. Both the chicken and the goat were fantastic but the goat stood out more for me. The naan was also wonderful and it was so fluffy and tasty. I also had their fresh lime soda which was good and not super sweet. Lastly, the meal needs to end with some dessert so we ordered some falooda. It was the best way to end the meal. After 3 weeks in LA and Phoenix, I got back to NY and was braving the westbound pm rush hour traffic on the Long Island Expressway. Did not have to be at work till 8 pm and noticed these two identically named restaurants on my left - on the south side that is. One was Shirazi right next to Oasis Bagels and the other Shirazi Karahi( Karahi as in Wok or Balti in the UK). I got off the exit for Utopia Parkway, popped a U-ie and found parking right in the front of the restaurant around 5 pm. Things were starting good, felt it! Well they got better and better. I got a lovely welcome from Mia and Shahid, the two awesome managers who seated me as I couldn't stop smiling and loving the aroma and the sizzling sound of the beautiful platters that were being served to the family next to me. Couldn't stop staring and politely asked what their great entrees were. They had a beautiful assortment of wings, chicken nuggets, mixed chicken grill and this lovely and yummy tandoori white fish dish. I opted for the salmon fish tikka. Shahid my fantastic host/server/cashier/ manager brought me out this big complimentary salad ( photo) with three dressings( one was a mint sauce, another a white sauce and then a hot one). Terrific trifecta! Loved it! Then the piece de resistance- the sizzling and absolutely delicious and aromatic salmon platter( please see the video) was served with a massive serving of their lovely seasoned brown rice. The fish was so good, it was seasoned perfectly and grilled just right, hot & melt in the mouth goodness. Did not need any sauces with it. I could not finish the rice and took more than half to Manhattan. 3 different wait staff checked up on me. The restaurant filled up by 5:40 pm and I felt the really good energy and the buzz as families and dates were enjoying the lamb chops, chicken skewers, gyro plates, massive salads and the hot samosa apps. The hot tea was hot and delicious. I did not have room for dessert from their very good looking display at the welcome counter. Shirazi Karahi House about 5 doors east of Oasis Bagels was my Oasis on this busy afternoon. Loved it. Open 7 days from 12-10. Came here one raining night. Parking is street so it's tough to find but patience is a virtue. Once inside the wait can be awhile to get a table luckily for us it was only 15 mins. The staff was present not friendly nor mean. Just there. A lot food was ordered from apps, family kebabs platter,whole fish, naan, curry dish. When asked we were recommended this amount of food for our group of 4. Way too much food. The food was good. Everyone had their own opinion on the food. Some like it, some needed more spice/salt. But the overall agreement was it was good Now the bad part. We had dust particles floating down from the dirty fans and fixture. No one needs this kind of addition to their food. Please get one of the cleaning people to wipe down these fixture. The pictures don't lie. Overall good food but don't sit under the nasty fan or light fixture til it's clean. Cause when the wind blows. You will be getting the wrong kind of pepper on your food and drink. Only 3 stars until they clean the restaurant, if this is neglected in plain sight. This restaurant is not bad at all. In fact their food is amazing. It's one of the best Pakistani restaurants in this area. The environment and the ambiance of the restaurant is also really nice. But their takeout service is really bad. Especially when they are busy with dine in customers. If you place an order over the phone they'll tell you that your order will be ready in 20-25 minutes but when you go there to pick up the order it's still not ready even if you went there after 40 minutes instead of 25 minutes. Sometimes you even have to wait 30-40 minutes more and keep asking when your order will be ready. If they improve their takeout service it'll be awesome. read more

Today was Thanksgivings night, and we wanted a traditional dinner but only a buffet-style dinner was offered. We were 4 adults and 1 child. The person at the cash counter stated that my son (under 10 years old) would be half price. Once we finished the buffet and went to pay, they charged us full buffet price for all 5 people (including the child who they said would be half priced). We were also charged for every bottle of water and can of soda. Water jugs were not provided at each table so bottled water was the only option. These hidden charges and an extra 18% gratuity were not mentioned when we asked about pricing. One staff member came to pick up our plates at the end of our dinner but there was no additional service throughout our time eating (which is expected for a buffet) but doesn't make sense with the added gratuity. Although the food was good, our final bill was nearly double of what we discussed/expected before entering- the hidden costs (especially charging full price for the child after telling us it was half price) completely ruined the experience. read more

But don't you worry, they waste not. I assure you, any tray that remained more than 50% full was left there for another day of customers who may be ready to purchase. Arriving home, as I unwrapped my gyro and took that first bite, my taste buds were sent down the path of identifying the flavors within the lukewarm chicken. A friend of mine told me about Shirazi Karahi and recommend that we go. It was right in my backyard of Fresh Meadows so it was a go. First, parking was impossible so we had to park an avenue away. Second, the place was packed so we had to wait approximately 10 minutes, which is not long relative to other places. Third, the menu was extensive. It was filled with delicious grilled food from chicken to shrimp to lamb to the kebabs. Everything we ordered (mixed grill, grilled shrimp, butter chicken, Lahori fish, Till Naan, etc.), all well spiced. The service was great, the ambience was great, and the food was the best of all. The downsides are there is no beer or liquor serves and you cannot get dessert to end the night, you have to get that to go as you leave. I ordered pick up, the app updates that the food is ready but I waited for one hour and asked everybody but no good answer! It is Ramadan I ordered for iftari but no time to cook at home. It is now closing to iftari time but no replies to me though 3 people on the counter. I waited because I had no choice. I was ignored every time I asked. While our party is walking out, one of the workers chased after us as we had left the restaurant and told us we didn't pay for an item on the bill. And we told him we paid for the whole bill and showed him our receipt. He told us to follow him inside and that they forgot to add a $9 item to the bill. It was so embarrassing they would humiliate our whole party for a mistake on their part. This restaurant needs to learn something. Best Karahi In the US. Reminded me of Lahore. Very fresh food, good service. Cheese kababs were excellent. Lamb chops were juicy, Naan were so fresh, chicken wings were so good. They have a variety of different flavor wings, tandoori, malai, hot wings, peri peri wings, Buffalo wings, bbq wings. Prices are very fair. Portions are great.
