Wow!!! Delicious, authentic dinner. Food came out quickly and the price is also affordable. The place is clean and inviting with comfortable seating and large enough tables to hold all of the different items that you would be tempted to try. Contemporary and hip Indian music added to the atmosphere. The servers spoke very little English and it took several attempts to get exactly what we needed. We kept asking for salad dressing and they kept bringing more of the powdered seasoning. Eventually, we did get some of that delicious yogurt sauce which we used. With patience everything worked out perfectly. There wasn't anything that I liked to drink and so a larger selection of juices and other drinks would be good . Also, we had to keep calling for service and to ask for everything like knives, and to go containers and such. This could be improved. read more

Love coming to this spot. Its my go to Indian food spot on the way to or from the airport. The menu has so many good choices. My go to is the chicken Tikka Masala w/an order of garlic naan. The portions are goood and filling. Service is good as well. Most spots are expensive buy this one offers alot for less. We aldo tried the goat biryani which was excellent and flavorful. I spotted this place as I was picking up a few things from the Walgreens across the street. I wish I'd known about this place sooner. This is hands down the best butter chicken I've had in NYC. Period. Everything that I are here was spectacularly flavored. Everyone who works here was also super friendly. There's minus one star because when considering the overall dine-in experience, the restaurant doesn't haven't much beyond food. The drink selection includes canned soda. If they begin offering specialty drinks (doesn't have to be alcoholic), that would definitely enhance the experience. read more

I ordered from Apna Pind via Uber Eats 3 times. The first time, it took them maybe 20 minutes to communicate that they were out of tandoori chicken. Among the items that arrived were some exceptionally oily samosa. The second time I ordered, the samosa were sitting in a pool of oil. Tonight, my husband ordered. After waiting an hour and watching 3 different drivers attempt to pick up our order, I called the restaurant. The woman who answered hung up on me when I asked for the status of the order. When I called back, I was handed off to a man who offered no apologies or explanation, and told me "if you wanna cancel, you can." before hanging up on me. I've seen some of the one star reviews on Google and completely disagree. Feels like they're being attacked by other competitors in the area. I've literally been here 4 times for dine-in & ordered for take out 3 times - since they have been opened. Staff: they're super friendly & explain foods if needed. **Sometimes there's a language barrier when calling in your order** Food: Tasty! There is flavor! If you want spicy - they'll make it spicy! Trust me. I've had their butter chicken, chicken Tikka, sag paneer, and literally all of the naan varieties they have to offer. They make a great mixed Biryani. Chai is good here too. Price: I'd say average for the neighborhood. Decor: is nice. The front counter is a truck front end. I think it's still a work in progress for the rest of the place. I'm seeing a lot of reviews about canceled orders and that's weird to me because I've ordered from Apna Pind over 3-4x via Uber Eats and have never experienced that. They have great food, the place is clean, and they're pretty speedy. Spice level is great for someone who can handle a bit of peppers but still wants to feel their mouths. My go to order usually includes chicken/goat biriyani, butter chicken, and goat/chicken vindaloo. My only gripe is that twice now, I've ordered the mixed grill, which should contain tandoori fish (according to their menu) but twice now there's been no fish and they sub it for tandoori chicken without any notification. It's still good, so I don't complain. But I'd prefer to have fish if that's what I'm supposed to get and if I had an option. read more

Positives - #1 Food was absolutley delicious. #2 Woman that took order order over the phone and that handled the front area was pleasant. Negatives - #1 Food took a bit longer than I am usually accustomed to with Indian takeout. #3 Food order got messed up and I was given the wrong takeout order - didn't realize until I drove all the way home (10 mins) in pouring rain and sat down to eat. #3 don't know if it was because my order was incorrect, or if they make you order rice separate from the dish- but i dont like that, it should come with it. Going into this, I was optimistic despite the reviews. Immediately made the wrong decision. As an Indian from Hyderabad, you know when Indian food is good, this was not the case unfortunately. It took them over an hour to make our food. Our mango lassi tasted like yogurt, no flavor and was a nasty pale yellow. The goat curry and biryani were not spicy and lacked a lot of flavor. To top it off there was a hair embedded in the goat meat that we couldn't get out, which we knew wasn't ours. There was so much oil in the goat curry and the only good thing was the garlic naan. Then at 3 am the food hit, had to go straight to the bathroom and their food was the last thing we ate. Was in NY on a business trip, and ate at this place every night for few days. Highly recommend this restaurant! Pros: - Open till 5 AM. So, could go there for dinner at late night. - I ate almost all the vegetarian dishes they had to offer. This place is great. It excels at the basics, good food, friendly staff and clean. I stumbled upon one late night and have been going back regularly since. The food is always great and the prices are reasonable. It definitely brings in a crowd and it's not the biggest establishment so I usually have to wait to be seated which is understandable. My personal favorite is the paneer purji, absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend! read more
