For context, my friend and I are both brown and were on the younger side compared with the average age of the other patrons that evening. The host/owner was genuinely lovely and welcoming, so unfortunately the service was especially disappointing by comparison. Throughout the dinner, we were repeatedly overlooked by our assigned server. Toward the end of the meal, while other servers were going around asking guests if they wanted a second helping of dessert, we had to flag down a different server because ours never came by. The most frustrating part came at the end. As the restaurant emptied out around us, everyone else was given to-go bags for their leftovers and had their bills brought to them. We received neither. Our server, who had largely ignored us throughout the meal, continued to walk past us without checking in. We ultimately had to wait while the restaurant essentially cleared out around us. We didn't leave until around midnight, after spending roughly half an hour sitting there waiting to be given our bill and leftovers. I really wanted to root for a brown-owned restaurant and hoped this would be a place I could come back to, which made the experience particularly disappointing. I understand that restaurants can have an off night, but being consistently overlooked throughout an expensive dinner--and then essentially forgotten at the end--left a very bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunately, I don't plan to return.
