The Fuchkas here were so delicious and powerful that I booked a flight to NY just to have them again. Compared to other similar dishes in Pakistan and India (gol gappa/pani puri), these Bangladeshi style fuchkas had additional ingredients such as shaved egg, and were bursting with diverse flavours.
Fuschka! What a delicious little snack! I love these little crunchy bites filled with flavor. The ultimate Bangladeshi street food for me. They are really awesome when eaten fresh, which is why I just stand on the streets and enjoy them as soon as I have them in my hands. If you never had them, go try them from this cart, which was the original and still the best imho.
So good- perfectly spicy, sour, crispy shell & just delicious. So good with the tamarind sauce. Highly recommend if you haven't tried.
Stopped here as part of a Jackson Heights food crawl where I was trying the three trucks in this area (this is located next to Fuchka House and Fuchka Garden). The doi fuchka was absolutely amazing.
Ordered: Fuchka (~$7): semolina shells, chipped open and filled with savory potato, yellow peas, onion, chili, and cilantro and shavings of hard-boiled egg, with tangy tamarind sauce Aya's take: One of my favorite and most unique bites of 2024! Walking in Jackson Heights (and particularly in this area), there are a lot of fuchka carts and I'm glad we went to Tong. Fuchka is a very popular Bangladeshi street food and I was super excited to give it a try. It's unlike anything I've ever tried. The semolina shells are super delicate yet crisp. They are loaded with ingredients yet don't fall apart somehow. The mix of potato, yellow peas, and onion go so well together and to my surprise, the hard-boiled egg was one of my favorite parts of the entire bite. I liked being able to pour as much of the tangy tamarind sauce as I liked and it really gave it that fresh and aromatic layer of flavor that took it to the next level. Great price and great try!
This humble street cart has a perfect 5 star rating for a reason. Their Bangladeshi street food is so good it's inspired many copycats all around Jackson Heights. I always try to stop here when I'm in the area, though planning ahead is wise, because they will often command lines around the block for these delicious morsels of heaven. I've enjoyed Bangladeshi fuschka from spots around Midwood in Brooklyn, and their Indian equivalent, pani puri, but Tong's holds a place in my heart for making the very best. I recommend getting an order of their Fuschka, a thin, crispy deep fried hollow shell filled with chickpeas, potato, yogurt, tamarind, and spices. I also recommend getting their Doi Chotpoti, which is a slightly sweeter version that has more of a mango-y flavor. I think this is the ideal snack to have on the go between meals that scratches both a savory and sweet itch. Remember to bring cash!
The ambiance was perfect for street food Service was on point Food was absolutely exemplary I took two friends along and they too LOVED it
Why was this one of the best things I ate in NYC so far? Maybe it's because I don't have a ton of experience with Fuska but this place was genuinely mind-blowing. Came for dinner and there was already a lot of people crowding around the food cart. I noticed that they are looking to open a store location, which would be very exciting although I hope the prices don't grow. We ordered the Doi Fuska (not entirely sure what's the difference between that and the regular Fuska), and it was amazing! If you're a texture eater, you would absolutely love this as there are so many different textures from the crispy cracker on the outside to the mashed potato texture on the inside. Also, I loved the flavor bomb as both the sweet and the savory come through without feeling too overwhelming as it was "suppressed" by the yogurt. Absolutely love this place and can't wait to try out more of their menus!
This food truck has some of the best food in New York. I have never had Doi Fuchka before, but this is such an amazing dish I didn't know I was missing out on. Doi Fuchka - This had so many flavors, textures, and temperatures. It was so enjoyable to eat. The peas and potato mixture inside the hollow crisp was soft, flavorful, and slightly spicy. The cold creamy yogurt on top was refreshing. Overall, I would highly recommend this place as a must-eat in Jackson Heights. The Doi Fuchka is to die for!!!
It's really fascinating seeing all the fushcka trucks one by one in this corner of jackson heights all with similar offerings. Some have lines some don't, and I havent tried many of them, so keep that in mind as I write my review. We ordered on Doi Fuschka and One with Egg. Personally, I am more familiar with Pani/Dahi Puri, which seem like a comparable alternative to these food trucks. These trucks are cash only, but Tong does a good job at allowing for people to pay with Venmo as well. There is quite a crowd in this area, no tables, but alot of stools (that have weird jurisdiction rules between trucks, kinda confusing, my group of friends was yelled at for sitting at another truck). Food was out within 10 mins, frankly takes a bit of time, but was overall really good for a snack. Its sharable across a group of friends and it quite a vibe. Did not taste much egg in the egg fuschka, and we were given "Pani" in a small bowl, and that is not nearly as much pani required for a true pani puri experience. The doi was sweet, but did taste slightly off putting, compare to dahi puri's I have tasted in the past for some reason. Overall, was not taken away by this food cart, and did not think it stood out compared to the other 5-6 fuschka carts in the same block. Personally, I think if you go next door to get some Pani/Dahi Puri, its a much better experience. I get the hype, but was not taken away. There seem to be better, similar, dishes in the same area in my opinion.
Very very good Fuska (Pani puri) and jhal muri. I've come here multiple times! The price point is right and with all the hype they get, I appreciate they didn't increase it more (please don't !) . Food: Fuska (Pani puri) $7 -- I've tried both versions: the one with yogurt and the one with tamarind (?) sauce. Overall, I prefer the one with tamarind sauce. However, if it's a hot day, you might enjoy the one with yogurt more as it has a refreshing taste to it. Jhal muri $6 -- you can comfortably share this with two people. I liked how moist it was too. It's not all that spicy imo, but then again I'm Bengali and my spice tolerance is high . Lol Ambience: They provide stools like in Bangladesh, lol. Service: is good. They only accept cash but they do take Zelle (for a fee).
We tried the original fuschka and were happy with it. They were crisp but not greasy and filled with potatoes and chickpeas. The tamarind dipping sauce adds the perfect amount of acidity. Highly recommended.
I had long heard of Tong but never had the opportunity to make it out to Jackson Heights so when I finally found the time to visit, I was beyond ecstatic. I found the food truck at around 2pm and luckily made it before the line got exponentially longer from what I'm assuming are tour groups. Note, there are surprisingly a good number of tour guides leading groups to Tong (and some around the corner to Fuchka House as well). I ordered their original Fuchka ($7) which came with 7 crispy puris filled with mashed split yellow peas and potatoes, onions, cilantro, and a generous heaping of grated boiled eggs. The tamarind water was refreshing and tangy and sweet, with just a hint of heat. I can definitely see that the differences between fuchka and their more famous cousin pani puri, the latter of which is often served with a spicy and minty chutney and topped with crispy chickpea noodles. However, both are best eaten immediately served, off the side of the food truck. The fuchka was light and crispy and shattered into a juice bomb in my mouth. I could clean a plate or two of these easily-- they are that delectable. Just a note, make sure to bring change as they do not accept large bills.
Wow, delicious Bangladeshi food straight from the OG cart. We tried a few of their signature dishes, and each was delicious. The fuchka was the main event; I liked the original a bit more than the yogurt variety (doi fuchka); the latter was sweet and a little more creamy, while the original had a nice spice and crisp that stood out. Chotpoti was excellent, every bite was a medley of flavor. The mango dish was very interesting; not my favorite, but definitely a very unique take on mango. Sour with a bit of spice, but not in the same way as adding Tajin. Queens never disappoints when it comes to diverse cuisine! read more
Jackson Heights is full of Southeast Asian food and what a treat to try something completely new for me. I discovered that a Bangladesh street food called fushka is very popular, so decided to try for my first time. Tong is highly rated and their menu is simple. I ordered the Doi Fuchka ($7), which comes as crispy, hollow puri shells stuffed with a savory mashed potato and chickpea mixture. The difference in the doi is that it is topped with a yogurt to balance the spice for a creamier texture. I liked this a lot, especially with the tamarind sauce too (though this got a bit messy). This is nothing like I've ever tasted with so many different textures going on. It hits you with spicy, sweet, savory, crunchy, creamy, chewy and everything all at once. It comes with 8 pieces, which is perfect to share with 2-3 people. Definitely something to check out! read more
Ended up in Jackson Heights on the way to LGA, and you know I had to stop by for some fuckha. Being Bengali, I am a bit of a fuckha snob, but this really hit the spot. There are multiple fuckha food carts on this street, and Tong didn't have a line on the particular day I stopped by. Since I was pressed for time, I decided to give them a go. I'm glad I did. I ordered the standard fuchka plate, which was $7. This price may seem steep, but each shell was LOADED. I will say that this was a chikpea filling, so if you are looking for a potato filling, this may not be the best fit. However, I enjoyed every bite. I even ran out of tamarind water and they gave me a refill at no charge! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and its a perfect quick bite to eat on the street! read more

Tong offers one of the best bites of food anywhere at any level in New York City and if you haven't eaten here at some point, you should make a trip to this humble cart your next dining destination. Tong is brilliant in bringing the cuisine of Bangladesh to the masses in the form of street food that can be consumed quickly without compromising taste and quality. Being Bangladeshi myself, I often prefer eating my mom's cooking over what is offered at most restaurants simply because most Bangladeshi restaurants offer the same menu and the quality is nowhere near what I'm accustomed to eating at home. Tong stands out in that they offer food that is fulfilling and flavorful while being fresh and perfect with each bite when consumed right then and there. Taking visitors on a food tour of Jackson Heights is one of my favorite activities and without fail the fuchka from Tong is usually the highlight of the tour: there is no more perfect bite with a perfect crunchy texture and flavor. It makes me proud as a Bangladeshi-American to see my culture represented so well and it is an honor to share my culture with my friends. Tong is a must when in New York City, highly recommended! read more
My wife introduced me to this place, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. I had never had fuschka before . . . and after having it here, now I want it ALL the time. Like drive 70 miles to New York City all the time. Fuschka is savory, sweet and crunchy all at once. A true Bangladeshi treat. Do yourself a favor and check it out! read more
There was a pop up in upper east side, and so happy to try Bangladeshi food! This was delicious, got the pani puri, chicken biryani, veggie samosa, and lamb kebabs, all had a little spice and ton of flavor, loved it!! Definitely a must try and different than everyday cuisines, favorite was the pani puri and lamb kebabs! Next time I'll stop by Jackson heights for the real truck! read more

This place has been recommended to me multiple times and looking on the cart, they recently won an award for best food cart in queens in 2019 which is quite the accolade considering how many exist in Jackson Heights alone. That being said, I am still adding to my repertoire of bengali food, so I can give a good perspective for someone who isn't familiar with this cuisine. FUCHKA -The thing to get. If you are familiar with panipuri at all, there are many similarities. It's a thin crispy ball stuffed and here it's stuff with chickpeas, shaved egg, spices/seasonings galore, other veggies and has a watery, spicy tangy sauce that goes inside. Delicious and surprisingly hearty CHOTPOTI -Kind of like the fuchka but crushed up, mixed with potato shreds and served as a hodghodge bowl kind of moment with crushed fuchka ball pieces over the top. Yummy, same flavor profiles as the fuchka without the spicy sauce and also surprisingly hearty. Will want to come back to try the mango/guava masala which seemed very interesting, and this bengali woman who showed up after my party was recommending highly to her friends from this cart. read more
This is the only place I go to to get fuchka and it hits everytime, wow. Incredibly delicious with so many toppings - it's sweet, salty, spicy and tangy all at once. Whenever I get a bowl, I have to stop myself from ordering more tbh. Service is quick and the pricing is fair for NYC -I believe it was $7. Remember to take cash but I think they also take zelle. This is a gem and I hope they never close. This place grounds me when it comes to my Bangladeshi roots and I appreciate that it gives me a literal taste of home. They have a few seats for you to sit down and enjoy, it was never crowded the times I went. read more
I have tried several fuchkas from different places and Tong really has the best fuchkas. We tried doi fuchka and the regular one. Both were good but the Doi fuchka was the best. All the flavors just explodes in your mouth. It's so delicious! There is a little bit of a wait time. They make it soon as you order it. Also, once you get your food, don't wait long to eat it. If you do, the fuchka shell will get soggy. Its better to eat the fuchka right away. If you are in the Jackson Heights area and in the mood for fuchka, then do check out Tong. read more

I have been DYING to go here since I first saw this food truck in the NYTimes and it did not disappoint! Ordering was easy but knowing a bit of Bangla will help. The menu is conveniently on the side of the food truck with photos which is helpful for those that aren't familiar with Bangladeshi street food. We ordered the fuchka and jhal muri but unfortunately they were all out of jhal muri. We waited about 5 minutes after ordering to get our fuchka. If you're not familiar with fuckha- think pani puri/gol gappa (little airy semolina puffs cracked open and filled with spicy sour liquid) but so much more satisfying! Love the grated egg on top and that every puri was packed with potato and onions. We quickly devoured it and wish we ordered another one. Beware as lines can get long but it's worth it! They may also run out of ingredients (while we were there, one of the employees had to run to the grocery to get more onions), so they may not always have everything on their menu, but that just means everything is fresh! Can't wait to go back! read more
This place easily serves up the best doi (yogurt) fuchka I have had in a very long time. We also tried their traditional fuchka and the peyara (guava) bhorta - both of these items were just meh. If you are going to try anything at this food truck, it should be the doi fuchka. Couple of other things to note: 1) The fuchkas need to be consumed very quickly - like within 5-10 minutes of them being served. 2) The food truck is located on the corner of 73rd and 37th (right next to the Duane Reade). All in all, a great Bangladeshi food truck option in the heart of JH. Be prepared for a little bit of wait because the food is made to order. read more

a tasty treat! finally made my way over to Tong and i'm glad i did. we got the fuchkas (7 for $7 as of 4/21/2023), which is like a hollowed out doritos 3D, stuffed with spiced potatoes, split peas, then topped with cilantro, onions, and shredded eggs. to eat it, you'd drizzle the tamarind water over it and eat it in one bite. i loved the combination of flavors and textures. it was delightful! 12/10 would recommend! read more
So happy to see Tong survived the pandemic. This is my first time staying back in Jackson Heights post apocalypse. Boy, the area has really changed. Places where there were little panipuri restaurants replaced by pharmacies, an entire 4-5 storefronts near Freedom Plaza completely gone and new retail storefronts being built. Such is the city. But there it is, the little cart with the words, "First fuchka cart in U.S." Heaven. Skipped the airplane meal on the way here from KCMO so landed hungry and then some. The perfect antidote? Like a moth attracted to a bug zapper, nothing was going to keep me away from Tong. A plate of fuchka, served with spicy hot sauce that had a bit of sweetness laced with the fire. Lovely. Just being in that space on the street... magical. At $7.00, a fantastic street snack that just satisfies and doesn't make you hate yourself an hour later. If you're in the neighborhood, worth looking for the little cart on the street corner. Even worth traveling from NYC proper for the experience. Nothing on the island matches what this man is doing. Then if you want something sweet after this savory little pan of goodness, LOTS of Northern Indian sweet shops with more to choose from than imaginable. God, I love this area of town. Long live Tong! read more
Went one of the colder days of the year, so there was no line. Got the doi fuchka and the mango salad. Doi fuchka - yummy and comforting! I'd like to try the regular fuchka next time because I like a bit more tang. This one was obviously very creamy with the yogurt Mango salad - interesting flavor I didn't expect! Very mustard forward almost with a spicy aftertaste (I asked for it to be extra spicy) Cash only. The owner was so friendly! read more

You have to stop by this truck if you're going to Jackson Heights. There's a lot of spots out there, and it's overwhelming to create an itinerary for a day there, but this cart will not disappoint. We got the Fuchka (similar to pani puri, it's a hollow crunchy shell filled with egg, potato, chutney, and you add a spicy water) and the Chotpoti (chickpeas with the same toppings and yogurt). Super delicious, and friendly service. It was fast, and you can tell it's popular by the crowd of people enjoying their food right next to the cart! read more

By far one of the most authentic Bengali street food I've had in the US. We got the Mango Salad (Aam bhorta), Guava Salad (Peyara bhorta), Jhal Muri and of course - Fuchka! The Fuchka is definitely the best seller and the other items are quite good too. read more

Having Bengali street food without the street food stomach ache is God sent. Fushka is such a staple Bengali snack. There are 2 food trucks in this corner, go to this one. I had always wanted to try the Bangladeshi street food carts in New York, it was time to change that and try it out. I decided to try out the fuska. Fuska is essentially a puffed crispy shell, filled with a potato and bean stew/mix of a sort, very hard to describe what it is in my opinion. You simply pour some of that tamarind sauce and eat the whole thing in a bite. It is great stuff! It was not too spicy, nor to bland. There are quite a lot of different ingredients, such as shredded boiled eggs and cilantro. The flavors can be complex but it is absolutely an enjoyable snack. The jhal muri, is puffed rice, mixed with a similar beans and other items. I thought that was very good! read more
Amazing! This is a food cart in Bangali para (Jacksons Height). They have a few items, but the main one is fuska (not gol gappa or pani puri) - big difference. The fuska was out of this world. I asked for extra spicy and that is how he delivered. He even has small stool like seats so you have a place to sit while eating. This is definitely the spot to be for fuska. read more
Firstly, I want to apologize for all the spelling errors in my first review of Tong. Secondly, I want to say that I do my very best to give an honest review based on my personal experience. I was contacted by the owner of Tong, who invited me back to give it another try, also I think he distrusted my review, implying he thinks I may have any alterior motive? Again there could be since misunderstanding on my part based on what appears to be a language barrier. I do however want to clarify that I compared his Bangali fushka dish to a popular Pakistani/Indian dish I love, called pani puri. Apparently they are similar but not the same. Regardless my experience was what it was. I will most definitely give this place another shot upon the owners request the next time I'm in the neighborhood. Until then... HAPPY YELPING! read more
