Shrimp Goat Biryani

5 star service and food. Some of the best bangladesh I food I ever had. To top it off, the service and professionalism of this restaurant is unmatched! I highly recommend anyone that comes to Jackson Heights to come here and have a proper meal, it's a highlight when I'm in the area!

Tasty fried rice and chili chicken! I also thought the service was fast and polite. Overall, the restaurant has a cozy vibe. Check it out for good Bangladeshi food!

Been a regular since last decade so high time I wrote how I appreciate these small Bengali joints that remind me of home cooked food whenever I get nostalgic! The menu rotates based on season but there would be atleast 5-6 kinds of fish, several goat, chicken or beef dishes and then many vegetarian delicacies that is lip smacking. This is a typical diner where you could get samosa in the morning or fried fish early afternoon. There is a huge dessert section for Bengali sweet meats the place closes down like the neighborhood during Ramadan but has huge displays of fried food and other Ramadan fare! A must come if you are in the area and in mood for Bangladesh food. Overall not an amazing ambience or great service but food is exceptional with a very affordable price tag

Lots of variety, good service, clean atmosphere, very reasonable prices, recommended++ Tried the mutton biryaani, anda salan, rus malai, and chai, all were yum...always hit this place in wee hours as is one of few shops open 24/7 in the Jackson heights area now.

3.5 stars. Meh, look it does the job. The food is pretty good and the place is spacious and clean. Can't speak for the bathrooms since I didn't use it. I usually always come here for some samosas and Bengali chai, which are definitely a go to favorite of mine. I decided to have breakfast here in the morning (9 ish) with my friend and the restaurant was pretty much empty. I had their Naan, which in comparison to the naan I've had at Kabib King (which is like a stones throw away from the restaurant), tasted hard. I prefer the softness of the Naan at Kabab King. I also ordered their chicken curry and Aloo Bhaji (potato stir fry) , which were really good though. For dessert, we ordered 'Bhapa pitha' , which is a rice cake with molasses filling. It was OK but I wish it was warmer and it definitely doesn't beat the homemade ones my mom makes that are piping hot right from the stove. One thing that I feel could use improvement is customer service. First of all, if you're sitting in, there's no menu. You have to make your choices from what you see in the buffet display at the front. Someone will take your order from there and then you proceed to finding yourselves a seat. While I'm familiar with all the food on display, I know that it definitely will be hard for someone unfamiliar with Bengali cuisine to know what they want (the staff will try their best to help). The 'waiters' that were serving us were also working at the front, handling to go orders. This made it difficult to get their attention and I had to get up from my seat when I wanted to request something. I appreciate that they do accept debit cards here (they will charge tax, as they should). Overall, I recommend just order takeout from here.

Instead of the heavy meals (biryani/rice dishes), I would go for snacks and tea here. The portions are huge for the snacks, so we just had them for dinner. We got chicken samosas, shingara, piyaju/bora, and cha. Took some sweets to go, and they were good.

The sweets

Only came here for the sweets, so can't vouch for the other food. It was ~$16 for eight sweets + a chai and we ate in, so thought that was a pretty decent price. I'd never had Bengali sweets before, I knew that they have a big sweet tooth, but some of the sweets were, well, too sweet. The table we sat at wasn't clean, but not too mad about that. The women's restroom also was out of order so had to wait for the men's, but there was no toilet paper in there so had to use paper towels. Very crowded though on a Saturday night, the place was popping. Had cricket games on the television and got the chance to practice my Bangla in the process.

Goat Biryani

The restaurant owner or manager and his friends got into a violent confrontation with a elderly man. Fortunately the elderly man was not assaulted physically. After the elderly man was able to escape the owner/manager accosted his dining customers because they were not minding their own business. The owner/manager is the one with the white cap and one of the friends who wanted to beat up the elderly man is wearing the white pants. A customer said the elderly man was upset that he was charged the incorrect price. Many customers left because they believed they would be at risk of their safety. Another customer said they are acting like this because they are from the village of Bangladesh thus they have no manners. I wished they handled the situation in. A professional manner and didn't involve their custoemrs The food is good. The Goat Biryani and Beef Curry is a must try. The desserts are delicious. There are plenty of seating for large parties and table booths. If you decide to dine here do not question the prices because they will get upset and violent.

I want to buy some sweets. Can they mail to California? Please let me know. Specially the dry sweets.

To Laiko represents the kinds of Greek-owned businesses that are disappearing by the minute in Astoria. It just so happens that this one sells Greek pastries and coffee. While the outside awning notes "The Little Coffee Shop", to my understanding "To Laiko" means "The people's" in Greek. I'm not sure how long they've been around, but they've been a fixture for as long as I've stepped foot in the borough (#1). This has certainly been a place that has been for the people (#2), which is always a great sign. They're among the only folks to my knowledge that sell authentic bougatsa, a breakfast phyllo rich specialty pastry that skews sweet and is enjoyed best with tea and/or coffee. They also have an excellent selection of spanakopita, which is Greece's most famous pastry containing feta and spinach. (#3) The kasseri cheese pie is also not to be missed, along with koulouri (sesame circular bread rolls), savory pastries, and the occasional loukamade (aka Greek donut). Prices aren't back breaking, but they've crept up over the years. While I think they accept credit card, it's always best to go with cash here to avoid any upcharges. Service from Angela is sweet and cordial and I prefer getting a drink with several pies on the go since seating is minimal. My hope is that this review helps others find them, since this is a place not to be missed. I'll certainly make this a pit stop during my next return back to Queens. __________ (#1) So, 20 years at least. (#2) Of mostly Greek patrons. (#3) Yes, spinach pie.

This is actually cheesecake rather than the lighter Japanese version, with a strong black sesame flavor. Hojicha creme brulee: this came as part of a promotion, and the taste is strong. They do brulee the top on the spot and my sugar top got a little too burnt. Oolong tea cheesecake: still good, would get this again still. Lighter flavor but the floral flavor does come out at the end of a bite. Coconut milk jelly: the lightest of the flavor but still sweet and flavorful enough to come through. There's a dusting of graham crackers and strawberry jelly to complement. We also got a hot matcha jasmine latte but it was actually cold. It seems like it normally comes iced and perhaps they have no way of warming up the jasmine part. There's a points program and tons of promotions that rotate. There have also been different desserts that rotate so I'll have to keep coming back to try more. They have a lunch special too where you can get a drink or dessert for less cost.
