Who dares to open a dosa joint right next to the famous Ganesh Temple canteen?? No seriously, I'd like to know. We were surprised to see this new eatery so close to the temple canteen but after we were a bit disappointed by the dosas at the temple canteen we decided to give it a try. Cautiously, I will say they might be better than Ganesh! The ghee dosa was excellent! And the sambar and chutney were very good and of better quality than what the temple churned out in our last visit. Friends of ours also said their relatives started frequenting Dosa Hutt because their dosas are better than that of the temple canteen's.. For now, I'm giving them 4 stars. If we go back again and it's still consistent and excellent, I'll upgrade my review.

Wow what a great lunch. I got the samosas they were delicious along with the onion masala dosa which hit the spot. The sauces were so good that came with them. The inside is nothing too fancy but clean and inviting. The service was also great and they answered all my questions. I will definitely be back. Price is decent too!

My first time here and I am delighted to have found Dosa Hutt! This is no frills, low-priced vegetarian Indian food at its finest. My samosas chat was bett than most I've had at fine dining Indian restaurants. I'll be back to try more of this deliciousness. A gem of a find:-)

Clearly a neighborhood favorite but I know it's stiff competition with the canteen in the mandir next door. Delicious fresh food at great prices. Family from India visiting and staying sambar wasn't right so will leave that up to the natives to debate.

Had my Saturday lunch here yesterday. Had several dishes to get a good feel of the different foods. The food was delicious with excellent spices and a very good heat on the spicy dishes. The staff was helpful, pleasant and very personable. There are a good amount of seats and space to eat. Will definitely be going back soon.

This place serves great dosa! We tried the Mysore masala dosa and spinach and cheese dosas, and both were delicious. The prices are also very affordable. This was absolutely worth the trek all the way from Manhattan.

After reading the reviews, I tried this place and it was a treat. The place was clean, and there was plenty of seating. We were greeted immediately and had questions which were answered so that we knew about different dishes. We tried a few different dishes, and everything just tasted so fresh and the spices were very authentic prices are very reasonable and the food is very good quality. I will definitely return to be exploring more of the menu items here.

A Do-si-do and a here we go! I'm not a vegetarian by any means, but what I am though is a big lover of Indian food. Dosa's are simplistic and you can have your choice of different fillings ranging from potatoes, spinach, cheese and onions just to name a few. The staff is friendly and seating is limited in this small restaurant, so the name Dosa hutt is appropriately named since the interior is small and the dosa's are not huge. The dosa's though small make up big in the flavor department. We had the Masala and spinach with cheese dosa's, a Vada, which is a delicious lentil shaped donut and Sambar a lentil soup. The dosa's came out crispy and the fillings and herbs they used are delicious. The Sambar tasted like what lentil soup should taste like. We had green coconut and red chutneys. I enjoyed the green coconut chutney which had very fine bits of coconut and as you know, any good sauce or gravy elevates that dish when you slap it on, chutney's are no different and this green coconut chutney is Awesome! Like I mentioned earlier the orders are not huge and that holds true for the chai tea too, delicious at only about a 6 ounce serving, a classic case where one size doesn't fit all. They have many more goodies here to try and I can't wait to go back especially to try the sweets and desserts. A real quick tip, there is a free water fountain with cups to save you some money from buying drinks. Remember, parking in this area is extremely difficult since there are two hindu temples literally a block from each other. Good luck finding a spot near by.

So I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1 o'clock. It was very crowded there were a lot of people in the restaurant it was also noted that a lot of people didn't have their face masks on I was a bit apprehensive but I did hear about the great reviews. So I did want to check this place out it said it would had authentic though says that with great flavors and spices. Because it was so crowded my friends and I had to wait a bit longer so we waited about 20 to 25 minutes for a spot by the time we waited a lot of people started to leave. We ended up ordering the masala dosa along with the China jot I felt that the spiciness of the order was great it was really authentic very Moise Nas was not oily at all I did order two bottles of water. However there was a point where there was hair in my food that's kind of why I am talking a couple of stars however I know Indian families and sometimes that's typical it's nothing to be kind of worried about him and it was towards the end of my food. I'd definitely recommend this place it has a lot to offer it's definitely a hole in the wall but it's a gem and the workers are very kind that a comparable just know that there are no refunds with any of the things that you order so if you end up ordering something you don't want you can't get a refund but you could do a swap.

Good Indian food but have tasted better! Price is very affordable and dosa is their specialty and done well but some of the other appetizers and options don't seem as tasty and fresh as other restaurants or snack places in the NYC and Nassau County area.

They always have vegan pancakes on the menu, but when I went, the special was vegan peach and mango pancakes piled high with vegan whipped cream and a little cinnamon. They were some of the most flavorful vegan pancakes I've ever had. The vegan bacon was the best I've ever had, perfectly crisp. The Ginger Blast drink was the perfect spicy, refreshing addition. The whole place has such a peaceful, distinctive vibe. They play soothing, meditative music, like the kind you'd hear in a spa, and they have cute inspirational cards that make the experience feel even more special. The diner has been around since 1972, and that sense of character really comes through. It's owned and operated by students of spiritual teacher, poet, and philosopher Sri Chinmoy, which helps explain the calm, uplifting atmosphere. If you're anywhere near here, definitely go.

We went on a Saturday morning, which was busy but it was only a 10 minute wait for a roomy booth. We ordered a vegan egg, cheese and sausage sandwich and a vegan Philly cheesesteak. The Philly was delicious and the flavor was amazing. The breakfast sandwich was just okay. One thing I was surprised about was that nothing else came with our orders, unlike general diners. No greens, breakfast hash, fries, etc. So when ordering, keep that in mind. The strawberry banana smoothie was so good and the ginger shot was good value for the price. We were still a bit hungry so we grabbed a cookie from the front cashier and had it added to our bill. I would come back, pretty much because it's the only vegetarian/vegan diner that I know of.

I stumbled across this spot and stopped in because I was curious about the food since it was vegeterian and I was on a no-meat cleanse. It's a bit inconspicuous so you may not even realize it's a restaurant from the outside. That being said, it seems to be a very popular vegetarian spot in the area and has a good variety of vegetarian Indian dishes as well as Western vegetarian dishes. The spot is midsized, with a good amount of seating. The staff were very friendly and helpful with questions about the dishes. I ordered a few items - vegetables pakora, bhajia, and the Annam Brahma dinner. I also tried their chai. Overall, the food wasn't too bad and was a good portion for the price. I loved the chai and also ordered a mango lassi, which was also very tasty. The pakora and bhajia were delicious and paired well with the sauce. I read their webpage on the story of the restaurant. It is own by a Sri Lankan couple - one Singhalese and one Tamil. Their love represents the union of the two groups of folks who had long lasting conflict and tension in the country. At this restaurant, you can experience the culinary fusion of the two distinct tradition. We ordered: - mutton roll 5/5 - calamari lamprais 6/5 AMAZING!! - deviled king fish 5/5 Their mutton roll is stuffed with filling - I love how thin the crust is, you really get a taste of the chunky juicy protein. The lamprais is infused with the aromantic banana leaf, along with the colorful and spiceful sides. They are so generous with their portions. It was my first time trying lamprais and I'm now addicted. I highly recommend getting this dish. One thing about Sri Lankan food is it tends to be on the spicer side (think Thai spicy). We were glad to see all items on the menu had a "mild" option. The lamprais is a safe option for those that can't eat spicy. The deviled king fish (mackerel) is a popular fish consumed in Sri Lanka. We got mild but it was still spicy. It was flavored so nicely so if you like spice and saucy dishes, this is the one for you! It was served with bell peppers and onions. We were so full we didn't get to try their desserts but they have many classic desserts options as well! We can't wait to be back to try their curry and other dishes. This place was such a nice hidden gem I really hope everyone will come give it a try!
