Omg everything was so good. I wasn't familiar with this cuisine so, my friend ordered for me. We got 2 Iddly, samosas, rava dosa and masala dosa. The Iddly were pillowly soft and was good was the sambar and mint chutney. The Masala dosa was good with the potato filling but I liked the rava dosa better the onions were so buttery and sweet and went really good with the mint chutney and sambar. The samosas were the best samosas I've ever had. The staff were really friendly. It was relatively quiet except for the bollywood music playing in the background. All the food was amazing. We concluded the end of our meal with mango ice cream and almond saffron ice cream. Who dares to open a dosa joint right next to the famous Ganesh Temple canteen?? No seriously, I'd like to know. We were surprised to see this new eatery so close to the temple canteen but after we were a bit disappointed by the dosas at the temple canteen we decided to give it a try. Cautiously, I will say they might be better than Ganesh! The ghee dosa was excellent! And the sambar and chutney were very good and of better quality than what the temple churned out in our last visit. Friends of ours also said their relatives started frequenting Dosa Hutt because their dosas are better than that of the temple canteen's.. For now, I'm giving them 4 stars. The rasam vadas (vadas in tomato soup) were straight fire...they tasted like they were made in the kitchen of a South Indian aunty who is an outstanding cook. I loved that there was some actual heat to the spicing of this rasam as well. I tried the onion chili masala dosa as well. I really enjoyed the raw onion and green chili on the dosa, as well as the masala potato filling and sambhar. If you're looking for very good South Indian food at great prices for NYC, this is a must-try in Flushing and likely within Queens. NB: You have to specify asking for a "crispy" dosa here if you're craving a paper/crispy dosa situation. I took it for granted that everyone made paper masala dosas unless you asked for a "rava dosa," which is made with a thicker batter. After reading the reviews, I tried this place and it was a treat. The place was clean, and there was plenty of seating. We were greeted immediately and had questions which were answered so that we knew about different dishes. We tried a few different dishes, and everything just tasted so fresh and the spices were very authentic prices are very reasonable and the food is very good quality. A Do-si-do and a here we go! I'm not a vegetarian by any means, but what I am though is a big lover of Indian food. Dosa's are simplistic and you can have your choice of different fillings ranging from potatoes, spinach, cheese and onions just to name a few. The staff is friendly and seating is limited in this small restaurant, so the name Dosa hutt is appropriately named since the interior is small and the dosa's are not huge. The dosa's though small make up big in the flavor department. We had the Masala and spinach with cheese dosa's, a Vada, which is a delicious lentil shaped donut and Sambar a lentil soup. The dosa's came out crispy and the fillings and herbs they used are delicious. The Sambar tasted like what lentil soup should taste like. We had green coconut and red chutneys. I enjoyed the green coconut chutney which had very fine bits of coconut and as you know, any good sauce or gravy elevates that dish when you slap it on, chutney's are no different and this green coconut chutney is Awesome! Like I mentioned earlier the orders are not huge and that holds true for the chai tea too, delicious at only about a 6 ounce serving, a classic case where one size doesn't fit all. They have many more goodies here to try and I can't wait to go back especially to try the sweets and desserts. A real quick tip, there is a free water fountain with cups to save you some money from buying drinks. Remember, parking in this area is extremely difficult since there are two hindu temples literally a block from each other. Good luck finding a spot near by. read more

The food here is always consistently good and the workers here are very nice! I LOVE THE ALOO BONDA, they are so spicy and fresh! It was very crowded there were a lot of people in the restaurant it was also noted that a lot of people didn't have their face masks on I was a bit apprehensive but I did hear about the great reviews. So I did want to check this place out it said it would had authentic though says that with great flavors and spices. Because it was so crowded my friends and I had to wait a bit longer so we waited about 20 to 25 minutes for a spot by the time we waited a lot of people started to leave. We ended up ordering the masala dosa along with the China jot I felt that the spiciness of the order was great it was really authentic very Moise Nas was not oily at all I did order two bottles of water. However there was a point where there was hair in my food that's kind of why I am talking a couple of stars however I know Indian families and sometimes that's typical it's nothing to be kind of worried about him and it was towards the end of my food. I'd definitely recommend this place it has a lot to offer it's definitely a hole in the wall but it's a gem and the workers are very kind that a comparable just know that there are no refunds with any of the things that you order so if you end up ordering something you don't want you can't get a refund but you could do a swap. read more

My friend and I tried the ghee roast, mysore, and cheese masala dosas. Tried to drink it down with mango lassi and a lychee shake. I don't understand the high ratings for this establishment. But the Rava is may be as good as the butter masala, no onions please. A friend started ordering the $8 "healthy dosa," made of lentil flour, filled with potato, vegetables, and chilies. Recently I ordered food without onion, asked before if it is possible, I was told yes. waited for a while. took delivery. when opened food was looks like eaten in the box for e.g., rava dosa was in plastic container cold half side was missing at bottom and potatoes dumped on pieces on top. i called them and was told to get another one. On purpose the dosa was not cooked and after 30 minutes then when given, I took home, on purpose it was hardly cooked like u r eating raw rice batter. I was so exhausted. Threw it and call it a day. Next day I was near temple and I went inside and told them if you did not want to replace why didn't you tell me that? Why give uncooked and worst food again. They are not trained in hospitality business: one guy who looks crazy come out and said we can't give u another one and I said who wants your rotten food again. The lady clerk started to say we give u sambhar (watery daal) again Free. I told her it was their fault to put onions and I had to make another trip and waste my gas??? Take a peek inside and it is dirty??? I wonder why the other shop is for show off and never used. Also the person never gives a receipt and so probably does not show income??? Also the clerk will be doing nothing, the tables are dirty and no one comes to clean. I took my own wipes every time so I clean my table?? Dosas are super crispy ((as they are SUPPOSED to be)) and idlis are very soft--you know it's very fresh by the food. Weekends due to crowd, as per any restaurant, the food is watered down somewhat. Been going there 7yrs now and as an Indian myself, I love this spot. This is home to me. And the people that work there during the weekends and weekdays, they're all super nice. A hidden gem! Some of the best dosa I have had outside of India. The menu is simple but effective. I have tried their Mysore Dosa, Rava Dosa and Uttapams on several occasions.
