Saw it on TikTok with 4-venders, when we went there were 3-venders, after we got our food it got busy fast with all the tables filling up. Very friendly couple selling 6- dishes, across from them a stoic man of few words but sure handed as he assembled my noodle soup dish, and across from the stair a pass thru window from small kitchen with smiling 2-ladies who sold drinks and food. Banquet room with round tables with 6-chairs with Chinese restaurant look merged with street food venders vibe! What delicious foods and hectic lively atmosphere - we will return to taste more dishes and bring loved ones! A definite recommend! What a find!

Honestly, it was pretty disappointing. The potatoes were sour and didn't taste fresh. The shak trak had a weird taste and was partly cold, like it had just been reheated. The gyuma was okay, but nothing special. The Chong Ching was also disappointing, and the portion size seemed smaller than before. The customer service wasn't great either, no one checked on us during the meal, and our water wasn't refilled unless we asked. Overall, the experience just didn't live up to how it used to be.

Look out Katz's! I was looking for it up on the menu board, but all I saw was pastrami baos & pastrami rice box. I asked if it was still available and my man hooked me up by popping 2 thick slices of whole grain bread into the toaster and started to hand carve a big hunk of pastrami. I thought I was getting about half of what he pulled out, but he proceeded to pile it all on the bread after squirting on a slew of grainy deli mustard. He apologized for running out of pickles, but all I could think was "Take my money and gimme my sammich!" Even as I cradled the closed plastic container, the smell of hot pastrami permeated my whole bus ride home and I couldn't wait to dig into that salty, peppery crusted, fall apart tender meat sandwich. I'm sure the other people on the bus were jealous. Next time I might even try out some of the other rice & noodle dishes, but that smoky pastrami smell still lingers on in my mind.

Service here is great and if you pay in cash, there is a slight discount. I came during their lunch deal and it was ~$30pp for AYCE sushi. You get an iPad to order and you can order as much as you want, and they bring out your food fairly quick. We got a variety of their nigiri, a couple of their rolls, and tried a bunch of their appetizers. I wasn't the biggest fan of their takoyaki or their sushi pizza as I felt that it was mostly just flour and rice--with barely any sauce. On the other hand, their unagi fried rice was flavorful, their nigiri and rolls had an amazing fish:rice ratio, and their fried scallops were delicious. Overall, unbeatable deal and solid quality sushi. Would definitely come back!

We came in around 2pm for lunch and the place was empty, which actually gave us time to check out all the dishes before choosing our 3-meat rice combo. We ordered six items total and shared everything: the pork, curry chicken, fish dish, and ground meat. Everything was very good, packed with flavor, and spicy AF if that's what you're craving. The Thai iced tea was on point too--especially with the shaved ice. Definitely lived up to the hype.

Still a good deal, but no longer the best bang for your buck any more. Probably why I don't visit as often nowadays. With that said, the quality is similar. Food is served on steamed trays, so you pick your choices over rice. Most of the flavors are still quite amazing, though some food lose their crispiness or a bit lukewarm sitting there. Regardless, always a good. On the negative side, the lady server is literally counting how many little shrimps are in my dish from one of my choices. It felt very odd when she took a shrimp off my plate and put it back into the tray. I asked if I could get a couple more calamari pieces and she said that she would have to remove more shrimp to do so. This was not how they use to operate, but I guess times are tough. On the other hand, I was given a lot more of the string beans with chicken liver, which makes sense since it's a cheaper protein. Btw, the fish is yummy, but you only get about 3-4 pieces. Therefore, I think you should order that item separately and not on rice if you want a decent portion. Bottom line, Khao Kang is no longer where I will go for a delicious cheap meal on regular basis. However, it is still a wonderful quick sit down or grab-n-go spot for some of the most authentic tasting Thai food in NYC for a reasonable price.

Pros: seated quickly, ambiance was lovely, appetizers came out quickly, the Lasuni Gobi was delicious. CONS: My husband and I waited 40+ minutes for our main dishes (dal + rice and the Paneer Tikka dish) to arrive....... And we watched the people who were seated AFTER us receive their MEAT dishes before we got our ours and we most definitely ordered first. We asked our server MORE THAN ONCE what was taking so long and we got the same answer each time "I've told the kitchen to hurry, it'll be out soon" To make matters worse, the person who brought us our dishes (maybe the chef? Maybe the manager?) brought them without the naan that we ordered. When I asked, "where's our naan?" He had the audacity to rudely say "it'll be out in a few minutes", as if we hadn't already been waiting 40+ minutes for vegetarian food that I could've whipped up myself in 20 minutes. His attitude towards us was so unacceptable considering the circumstances. We have absolutely no idea what happened or why it took so long for our simple dishes to arrive. It's especially perplexing considering that the people who came in AFTER us got their meat dishes first. The server apologized and decided to bring us some kulfi (ice cream) to try to make up for it, but we try to avoid eating sugar so that was useless. I felt bad for the server because it wasn't his fault that our food took a ridiculous amount of time to make it to our table, and it's not cool that a manager never stepped in to try to reconcile. As someone who waited tables for 8+ years, I was shocked at the lack of support this server received from his management team. The dal and paneer tikka dishes were average tasting at best (and overpriced), making another trip here completely unfathomable, most especially considering how we were treated. Note to management: do better. Support your staff and step in to reconcile with unhappy guests if this happens again.
