Indian Buffets have mostly disappeared, so we were thrilled to hear Delhi Heights offers both lunch & dinner buffets, 6 days a week: Fri-Wed; (they're closed on Thursdays)! Lunch Buffet ($14.99) 12-4pm Dinner Buffet ($19.99) 6-9pm ** Note that the Lunch Buffet isn't ready until around 12:30, even though doors open at Noon. See my photos for a list of items in their lunch and dinner buffets. We went on a Sunday but not everything on the list was available. But still, there was plenty of food. It would have been nice to try the two missing dishes (soup and Palak Paneer) but there was more than enough food offered. Every item in the buffet was fantastic. The surprisingly delicious dish was the Daal! Such a simple dish but very flavorful; especially over white rice. They make the Butter Naan fresh and will bring it to your table (not at the buffet table). I've never had their Nepalese food and only have had their Indian food, so can't speak about the Nepalese food. ***In celebration of their 17th Anniversary, they are now offering a 15% discount for Dine-in and Takeout orders from their regular menu (but not valid for the buffets). I didn't expect a wide selection of choices considering lunch is $15.99 per person but the selection they offered was so pleasantly delicious that it hit the spot. I especially enjoyed their butter chicken. The sauce was creamy so it coded the rice nicely. As for their butter chicken, it was so tender and moist and flavored perfectly. I also enjoy their dal. Their dal was not runny and it had a nice hint of spice which also paired well with the rice and roti. As for their rice pudding, it was refreshing. I would prefer if the rice was softer but I guess that's a matter of preference but the rose water and sweetness was perfect. It wasn't too sweet or overpowering with fragrants. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience and I'm already looking forward to going back here again in the near future.

The food types are similar but offer different spice/flavor profiles. They have a large section of noodles, soup, and rice. A veggie section with various combos of cauliflower, potatoes, onion, bamboo, blackened peas, mustard greens, and spices. Some of the Indian dishes: paneer butter masala, palak paneer, chicken tikka masala. Some of the appetizers include crispy tofu, fried soybeans, a Nepali snack platter with marinated meat, goat, beef tripe, sliced beef tongue, fried jerky, duck. They also have a momo section. We had their famous chicken lollipops (essentially fried chicken) and it was crispy and spicy (in a good way). We also had sadeko (marinated or tossed) bacon, which was rich and tender. I had one of their Nepali cocktails, which was pleasantly spicy (the chatpata aam, made with tequila, spicy chatpatey syrup, and mango puree). Service was attentive. Inside is cozy, lots of dark wood and colorful flags. They also often have entertainment in the evening, so I would love to return to hear some live music while trying more Nepali cuisine.

The first time that I came here was about 3 years ago with a few friends and we liked the food - the beef tongue was different and super memorable and the jhol momos were just swimming in flavorful curry. Made me want to come back again. Fast-forward three years later, I feel like things have changed significantly. Or maybe I didn't catch them at their best, but I came with another group of friends and I just felt overall disappointed with the food, as did my friends who were excited to try Himalayan food for the first time. I had the goat dhat bhat and the small amount of meat served in aesthetically pleasing bowls to mask the portion was disappointing--and this was not a lunch special or anything. I mainly got a big bone and realistically got about 2-3 small bites of actual meat, while there was an overwhelming amount of rice and veggies. The momos also tasted like they were pre-made and heated or steamed up again because the dough was definitely a little rough. Overall, this experience was a meh for me. The first time, I just walked in by accident just to see what this place was. After having a conversation with their main chef, he tempted me to try their Haleem as a taste test and the rest is history. From there on, whenever I am in Jackson heights, I pick up food from here. The cuisine and style is mostly from Karachi, the spice level is a bit on the higher side, but if you really want to exercise your taste buds, this is the place to go. Downside: Parking is tough in that neighborhood as it is so crowded. You may have to circle around to find parking at a bit distant.
