I've always loved Paratha Wala, but it had been awhile since I've been and they've had a glow up since my last visit. The vibe feels a bit more upscale and the menu has expanded, but the food and service are still wonderful. They now have a bunch of cocktails and mocktails. I opted for the classic lemonade with ginger and mint. It was lovely, refreshing and balanced. We started off with the Papdi Chaat which was an excellent version. It hits all the notes, crispy, creamy, tangy, spicy...so good. The Karahi Keema Paratha is Paratha bread stuffed with ground lamb and spices and it was excellent. So savory and flavorful. Butter Chicken is a wonderful version. Creamy with a hint of spice and tender, juicy chicken. Dal Tadka are yellow lentils with spices and packed with flavor. Just delicious. This was a quick stop while before we got checked in into our hotel. It's a cute little place, with a mixed decor, there are bunch of license plates and flowers and string lights setting up a cosy ambience. We quickly got seated and order a Half Tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala and garlic parathas. The tandoori chicken was flavourful, the rice that accompanied it was yummy to say the least, everything on that plate felt like it belonged there including the salad. The chicken tikka masala was absolutely delicious and the garlic parathas served as the perfect accompaniment to carry the gravy and chicken. I had to bump my four star review to five stars because Paratha Wala really is that good. I went a couple of years ago so it was nice visiting and seeing that the food is still affordable/no skimping on portion sizes. My favorite appetizer is the kale fritters & they were tasty albeit they could be a bit less salty. I also had the keema naan which was tasty & had more than enough keema inside. What stood out to me was actually their drinks which were strong & actually quite unique. Lastly, the staff is great & the decor inside is so cute. I'll be coming back for sure :). read more

My family and I stumbled upon this place when we were looking for food in the area. We walked in hoping there would be a table for us since we forgot to make a reservation. The staff kindly took us in and sat us down. I forgot her name, but she was super nice and patient. We ordered samosa chaat, chicken tikka bowl, lamb roll, paratha beef burgers, butter chicken pasta, mango lassi, and chai. All the food was great, and the homemade sauces were a good touch to the food. Everything was well seasoned and flavorful. At the end of our dinner, the staff gave us free dessert on the house, which was yummy. We also met the owner of the restaurant, and he was friendly and kind. I want to continue to express my love for this restaurant after today's meal. We tried some new dishes today and loved them as well! We had the butter chicken roll, coconut shrimp curry, and beef curry. All very flavorful and spiced well. They presented three bottles of homemade hot sauce with the roll, which were phenomenal! The lightest spicy mayo I added to every bite, and the hotter mayo was more complex in flavor but spicier. The green serrano sauce was actually not too spicy but a bit herby. The service was very professional and they proactively met our needs throughout the meal. We noticed the more upscale updated decor and also the arcade game in the corner, which I'm looking forward to playing again next time. Came here with a few friends for iftar dinner. It was quite the cultural experience and a great place to come break your fast. Interior was beautifully decorated as you can see in the photos. It was little dimly lit when we first walked in, however, once the sun set, they're lighting really made the ambience something to vie for. The food came out quickly once the sun set. Everything was absolutely amazing. Samosa chaat was seasoned well and you can taste all the spices and flavors from the cucumber mint chutney to their tamarind spice. The chili wings were tender, juicy and seasoned well. Weren't over fried as other places tend to do. The apps themselves almost filled me up because I get going back for more. I got the lamb bowl as an entree. It had a nice kick to it with their curry and I have a relatively high spice tolerance so reader beware if you want to try. Lamb was cooked perfect. Start off by saying this place lives up to the hype! Cute, dark, table lamp lit seating adorns this small restaurant. There aren't that many tables overall. Maybe 12 total. Came here after a flight into the city. Just came in from JFK with a massive checked bag. They were kind enough to let the bag in and we placed it right by the table. Waitress greeted us relatively fast and asked if there was a water preference between still and sparkling. Tap was perfectly fine with me. Now what happens next is the only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars. Took the restaurant 10 minutes to come back and take our order. Apparently their POS system went down so the servers were taking orders by hand. After flagging down multiple servers not a single one came to take our orders. I was starting to get hungry so it wasn't a good look... The bartender came out and apologized and grabbed our order afterwards. Food came out relatively quickly. The paapdi chat was delicious! Crunchy small bits of paapdi with plenty of channa, tamarind, mint, and potatoes in a heaping serving for two. I loved it but my partner said she was disappointed the paapdi's weren't the large pieces of fried chip she was used to instead. Weird but ok. Next the lamb bowl came out. It was great as well. Soft pieces of curried lamb over rice, salad, potatoes, and channa. It was a large portion and I struggled to finish it without help. There was mint chutney drizzled over the bowl which felt cheap. It should have been left on the side as needed. Also too many potatoes and not enough rice. I'm indian man, give me my rice. The star of the show was the Stuffed Keema Paratha. It was crunchy, ghee filled, meat heavy, and didn't need any sauces to go along with it except raita. It was filling enough to be a meal of it's own! Definitely the star of the night and both of our favorite dishes. We wanted to try drinks, chai, and dessert but the travel took it out of us. We will be back! read more

Super cute lunch stop over the weekend. The menu has a lot of options, but I un creatively chose the name sake. Our server, Hyat was attentive we appreciated her care. There was so rush after we finished our meal we had some tea and chatted. I enjoyed the ambiance. All tables were full when we were there so it was pretty energetic. I did also notice they have a little games section which was thoughtful. My only comment would be to ask how sauced you want your food. Some dishes were overwhelmed with sauce or chutneys. I was looking for an Indian place in the area for dinner. I found this place. I'm so glad I came here. I ordered the chai tea, samosas, garlic paratha, saag paneer and butter chicken. We also had the gulab jamun. Everything was incredibly delicious and flavorful. Our server, Amani, was very attentive and friendly as well. I'll definitely come back here again. Wow! Paratha Wala is actually amazing! I randomly walked by and the decor inside caught my eye so I decided to go inside. The service here by the server, Janelle, was fantastic, I wanted steak and she recommended the lamb chops with mashed potatoes which were so juicy and fresh. The lentil soup was the best I've ever had, also super fresh and tasty. Now, let's talk about their drinks- that Wala Iced Chai was so good, I had two. Overall, as a beverage manager, I love to see restaurants offering an extensive mocktail menu. Their boozy menu also looked fun. And they're open til 10p on a Sunday! I came here with my parents and girlfriend. The parking was great at pur reservation time bc meters ran until 7pm. We came on a Tuesday so it was relatively quiet with a man playing jazz guitar. The decor is fashionable and funky (license plates from different places in India and the states, a wall with famous Indian Bollywood actors, lights along the ceiling, etc...) and we enjoyed sitting in the hanging chair near the entrance. I had a mango lassi and Kingfisher which I enjoyed. My girlfriend tried the rose lemonade which she also enjoyed. The tandoori chicken takes 35 mins so I pre-ordered at when i arrived so that wheb my parents ordered it would be ready. The food was fantastic! My parents who are Indian and ofc have eaten all types of aindian food were giving high praise to the food. My dad without being asked said several times how good the food was, especially the tandoori chicken. My girlfriend had a lamb rice bowl which was spicy and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant and looking forward to taking my sister and her family there with us next time. read more

Had a late weekend lunch dining in at this neighborhood spot. All of our dishes arrived quickly and were delicious and consistent with past orders we have experienced here. We ordered Samosa chaat, butter chicken, lamb kadai and some roti and garlic paratha. These are our go-to's and hit the spot. I preferred the paratha over the roti. The entrees each came with a bowl of white rice. Service was friendly and helpful. Pit stop on our way out of the airport. Such a cute 'gram worthy spot and a variety of offerings. We tried aloo tikka chaat, loaded fries, roti, coconut shrimp curry, butter chicken curry, butter chicken paratha roll, and salmon bowls. All the food was great, and I highly recommend getting food from here whether it's dine-in or take-out. The mocktails were really good, especially the Lychee Lemonade! I have had Paratha Wala bookmarked on Yelp for yearssss! I was in the neighborhood for a Paint n Sip Event, and finally made it here! It did not disappoint! We arrived at 4pm on a Sunday, and there were no other customers there. This worked out great for us, since we had everyone's undivided attention. After our painting class, we arrived STARVING and ready to Eat!! Four of us shared the below dishes: - Complimentary Chips: I'm not sure what kind of chips these were but we devoured them! - Golgappa (aka Fuchka) $9.95/6 pcs: Any time I see Fuchka on the menu, I always order them. This is my favorite Bangladesh Street Food, and if you've never had them before, you must try them. (**Don't know what Fuchka is? Read my footnote below). I could have eaten the whole order by myself! Hahaha Not Joking!! - Amritsari Fish Appetizer $12.95: these are homemade fish fritters, served with a mint ranch sauce. The spiced fish fritters were fantastic but I didn't care for the sauce; instead, I added their spicy sauce (ask them for some if you don't have any at the table). This spicy sauce made the fish fritters 10 times better! - Lamb Kadai (served w.bowl of Basmati Rice) $22.95: slow cooked lamb with fresh onions and bell peppers. The sauce in this dish was fantastic; however the lamb wasn't as tender as it should be. Had they cooked the lamb a little longer, this would have been 10/10. - Goat Curry (served w.bowl of Basmati Rice) $24.95: Bone-in goat curry with Indian herbs & spices. This dish was phenomenal! So much flavor; nice and tender meat. This dish was the winner of our meal. Get this! - Railway Chicken Curry (served w.bowl of Basmati Rice) $17.95: Classic Indian Bone-in chicken curry with cherry tomatoes. This curry sauce was delicious! The chicken was good; albeit a tad bit dry since it was all white meat, but good nonetheless. - Garlic Paratha ($6.95): We usually order Naan but since Paratha is in the restaurant name, we figured we'd try their Garlic Paratha. The Paratha was very good but we would have preferred a bolder garlic flavor. You can never have too much garlic! :D "*Footnote: For those who don't know, Fuchka are small hollow round spherical semolina shells, chipped open on top, and filled with savory potato and chickpeas, and other spices. They are served with a chili garlic sauce and a tamarind sauce on the side. When you're ready to consume these shells, add the two sauces, and immediately pop the whole shell in your mouth. (If you wait too long, the sauces will make them soggy). There will be an explosion of flavors unlike anything you've ever had. Love these!! There are so many different varieties of Fuchka; however, Paratha Wala only serves one kind. On a side note, TONG has a street cart in Jackson Heights which offers a wide variety of these Fuchka snack foods. Go with a friend so you can try a variety of Fuchka! Great service and hospitality! This restaurant was on the smaller side but it was decorated nicely, and was very clean. Free street parking available on the side streets; Metered parking available on Metropolitan Ave. Although parking can be extremely challenging in this neighborhood, on the Sunday afternoon, this was not a problem at all. Random Saturday night where we have a baby-free opportunity for dinner. We had driven past this place a bunch of times and wanted to finally check it out. We didn't make a reservation, so they sat us all the way in a back room. The difference between the front area and the back room is glaring. The front is well lit and has a lot of cool art on the walls. Whereas the back is dark and feels like you're in someone's living room. After being seated and given menus, they took our orders pretty quickly. The menu isn't very large, so it didn't take a lot of time to make decisions on what to eat. The Samosa Chaat came out pretty quickly. They made a small mistake by bringing meals that didn't belong to our table, but then brought out our meals soon thereafter. I enjoyed my butter chicken. The Paneer Paratha was just ok. My wife was underwhelmed by the Saag Panner. One big area of improvement is the drink service. By the time we got them, we were pretty much done with our meals. I always have a solid time at Paratha Wala, it's nice to have a desi spot near home with a more modern feel. Service is consistently timely and smooth. My usual picks - Samosa Chaat and Masala Fries - always hit the spot. Butter Chicken isn't mind blowing but still tasty. It comes with basmati rice but I like to get it with naan. Tried my friend's lamb, but the flavor wasn't my jam. I usually like mango lassi more but at this spot I like the piña colada better, I recommend trying theirs. For your first time there, stick to the classics for a good meal. I'll be going back to try some of the other things on the menu.
