I order two lunch specials and both came with soda. The beef lyula is so flavorful and juicy. The chicken was tender and tasty too. Portion is pretty decent with a side of rice and onion salad. The plov was great-- huge chunks of lamb but a little dry. The rice was tasty and not overly oil like other spots. The only con was the bread. It was definitely stale. The salad was very fresh. The worker was really nice and told us we can change the soda if I wanted.

I met a friend here for lunch. Inside was a quaint little restaurant. The waitress was friendly and answered our questions patiently. We've never had Ubek cuisine before. We ordered skewers, eggplant salad, bread, and Baba Ghanoush. The Baba Ghanoush is very smoky and smooth. The warm bread was great for dipping into the Baba Ghanoush and sopping up the juices from the skewers. The eggplant salad was a surprise. The eggplants were fried sitting in a bed of greens with sticky sweet dressing poured over it, very addictive. The skewers were the best. We got the salmon, beef skirt, beef filet mignon, veal liver, and lamb ribs. They were all seasoned perfectly, tender, and juicy. I'm still thinking about it. Definitely, we will be back.

We popped in for a quick lunch on a weekend. My group had 3 adults and 2 children (1 year old and 3 year old). We had to flag a serve down to place our order, get water, etc. We ordered multiple skewers, Uzbek rice, and a tomato salad. The food was tasty, and the potions were enough for all of us.

I've never had Uzbek cuisine, but now I'm a fan! I loved their chicken or beef wraps with hummus and fries. Their dumpling soup was delicious too. I can't wait to try the other items on their menu next time. Service was fast, friendly, and helpful. I ordered and got my food in 15 minutes with an easy to carry shopping bag and utensils. Aside from a minor struggle to find street parking, this is a yummy place for a quick bite or sit down meal.

First time i ordered take out...I thought the food was decent but not the best I have had...Dined at the restaurant the 2nd time the bread was stale, service not great, it was ok experience...I have been to better Uzbeki places....Not sure i will return.

To start off, the compot (fruit drink) and plov were delicious. The beef was well cooked and the rice was beautifully seasoned. The samsa was okay-- not super flavorful and a little dense. The mixed jiz biz (lamb with fries) was good. The lamb was perfectly cooked, but was much gamier and fattier than lamb I get at other places (Turkish and Persian). The one thing to note if you eat in person-- they charge a mandatory 15% service fee, and then on the final receipt, the recommended **additional** tip is 18%, 20%, and 22%. Just double check your bill to make sure you're not accidentally tipping 35%. The service itself also wasn't great-- there was no tap water and so we were charged for a bottle of water, and it took a while for us to get the bill.

The food here was amazing, and great value! The rice plov (pilof) was very well done, and full of flavor on each bite. We ordered a large portion of the menu and pretty much everything was delicious. My issue with the restaurant was that there was a lingering smell, and the table felt a bit greasy as we sat down. They could potentially just be having an off day. Regardless, the food is worth trying!

First time eating here and having Uzbek food to celebrate a family birthday. Surprised that it is more casual, with chandeliers though; and is very family-friendly. Music was playing and noticed that it was someone singing live. Gozleme was served more like a quesadilla than flatbread. Without the dip, the ground meat was a bit plain. The fried small dumplings looked like tortellinis. A bit too crispy though to taste the filling so will try the steamed next time. The hummus and babaghanoush (preferred this, with a slight spiciness) went well with the warm toasted bread. We liked the plov with tender lamb and veggies. Their skewers were cooked well, still juicy and tasty. I usually wouldn't order chicken but they were good here. Lunch specials available. Great service from the minute we went in and throughout the dinner - our young server was very pleasant and friendly; offered to refrigerate the bday cake, then lights were dimmed and bday song was played when it was brought out.

Plov was very flavorful and the beef was tender, shredded atop a bed of rice and with sweet pieces of corn and spices. The lamb leg shish kebab was tender while the veal liver wasn't too organ-y. The baba ganoush was a tad more solid than what I've been used to.

Large Uzbek restaurant that serves halal. If you come during Ramadan, be sure to make a reservation since it gets full for iftar. Dates and water are provided for iftar. The food and service were great. They also have a section for prayers. The samsas are flaky and delicious especially paired with the sauce. The tandir gosht is so tender and a bit smoky. The plov was also very good but the meat is a bit dry. Overall everything was great! Would definitely come back!

Who doesn't like Uzbeki cuisine?!?! I always jump at a chance to go for Uzbeki food, and so should you. What a treat! I have driven by this place so many times, and they always catch my eye. 12 of us ventured out to Marakand for the first time a few weeks ago, and we were pleasantly surprised! Service and hospitality were great; food was tasty and fabulous! Our menu (shared by 4 ppl): - Tandir Samsa ($3.49 each): these were phenomenal!! Filled with delicious seasoned lamb; fresh out of the oven and heavenly. But be careful because they're super HOT; don't burn your tongue! (5/5) - Barak ($9.99/small): these tiny boiled meat dumplings were delicious; especially with the side of sour cream. This was a simple dish but packed with flavor. (4/5) - Gozleme w.ground meat ($7.99): I though this was supposed to be a baked flatbread pizza-like dish, but what we got was more of a quesadilla-type dish. I was slightly disappointed but it was still pretty tasty. (3.5/5) - Persian Salad ($9.99): Basic cucumber, tomato & onions salad. Went really well with all our meat dishes. (3.5/5) - Plov ($14.99): Fantastic! The generous portion of lamb was tender and the rice with raisins & carrots were seasoned well. (5/5) - KEBABS: -----Luyla Kebab ($5.99/skewer): seasoned ground beef; alsoluted delicious! Recommended! (5/5) -----Lamb Rib Kebab ($6.99/skewer): a tad bit tough but tasty. (4/5) -----Lamb Leg Kebab ($6.99/skewer): Perfection! Recommended! (5/5) -----Beef Skirt Kebab ($6.99/skewer): Perfection! Recommended! (5/5) I would definitely return to Marakand to try their other dishes and Kebabs! Good for large groups but I recommend making reservations. They have a huge menu to explore, and I look forward to a return visit soon! Note that this is a Halal establishment; absolutely no liquor allowed.

Such a good experience. Staff is attentive and food is made fresh and comes out hot. The ambiance is always nice and if you go during dinner they have very nice live music.

I really enjoyed my meal overall, I would say the apps and mains were both delicious but I would give an edge to the mains. The food: Borani Banjan- This was the highlight app for me with some freshly made Afghai Naan. Man this was so good and a must order. The eggplant was cooked perfectly. Bamia- This was like a stewed Okra and I loved this dish, the okra was cooked down but the flavor was so damn good. Mantu- This was a nice delicate dumpling, it was made well but because of the cumin I couldn't help think it reminded me of Tex Mex food. Aushuk- This was OK, it was kinda strange because there was this fermented flavor to it that kinda bothered me. Chicken Afghani Kabab- I am shocked to say this but the chicken was my favorite protein. It was perfection, it was perfectly juicy with a nice smokey outer char, this was amazing. Uzbeki Qabuli Pulao- This was a braised lamb shank and was no teeth required tender. It so incredibly delicate and so delicious. Salmon- Fat slabs of salmon cooked to perfection with a nice outer smokey char. So good. Lamb Kabab- This was fine but not as exciting as the above. The lamb was chewier than I was hoping but the flavor was nice. Beef Kofta- It was like a ground meat patty. It was ok, it was a bit chewy and a bit dry but it was alright. The two I want to try on my next visit is the shrimp and the lamb chops, can't wait for a second visit.

Cafe Kashkar in Brighton Beach, Nargis Cafe in Sheepshead Bay, this is the dish that keeps on giving. Until eating here. I will just keep this one all to myself. Everything here is right, on top of right, on top of right, on top of right. Friendly, fast, and efficient service. A pretty ambiance that does not hit you over the head with a walking stick, and some of the best Lagman I have eaten this side of the East River. These folks know what they are doing. To come here and not order some naan is a huge insult, so I did that. Even that is done properly. The naan is light and full of flavor. It needs no oil or anything to spruce it up. Enjoy it for what it is. The Lagman hits all the right notes, checking every box that Lagman needs to have. Ample and flavorful meat? Check. Fresh hand pulled noodles that are also ample? Check. Crispy, sautéed vegetables? Check. About a quarter of the way through my meal, one of the owners came up to me and offered me chili oil to put in the dish. I obliged as I learned from Cafe Kashkar the importance of adding flavor to this dish. It really does elevate everything on the plate and brings all those flavors that are already on the plate, forward. Everything is rather affordable as well. Before the New York Times finds out about this little hole in the wall and blows this restaurant's cover, I will close this review by simply stating this restaurant is a winner, without all the aforementioned accolades.

Definitely try this! 4) veal liver kebab: good when hot but I think one or two bite is enough because liver taste is strong.. if you like liver definitely get it, otherwise can skip. 5) lamb kebab: good, juicy. Definitely eat while hot, can be tough while cooler. A nice basic taste, nothing too weird. 6) sweetbread kebab: not my favorite it tastes a bit too fatty without justifying the fat. 7) lulya kebab: one of my favorites. It's a ground meat kebab and it's very juicy. Definitely get it! 8) beef skirt kebab: maybe my favorite one. It tastes like a juicy steak bite. 9) no fat lamb ribs: second favorite. The seasoning is good. A bit gamier than the basic lamb kebab. Overall we enjoyed the meal and will be back to try some other items! The only gripe is that the meat is a bit rare and I would not like to eat organ meat with some blood in it. My stomach was not used to it even the next day. Not sick but not feeling my normal self. There are many other options in the area, but I have always come enjoyed this place, and now I treasure it more than ever before. The decor is a bit loud and gaudy for me personally. I always preferred the interior design of Taste of Samarkand or Art of Grill, but I'm okay with Stix's decor because it's bright and clean. More importantly, I love the food at this place. Every time I come here, it's absolutely fantastic. They shine at grilling skewers, so I'll start with that. You really can't go wrong, but I would always get the lamb, lamb ribs, beef, baby chicken, chicken w/ bones, and sea bass. The lola kebab and the chicken lola kebab are not bad, but definitely better at Art of Grill. For the more adventurous, try the veal sweet bread, veal liver, and lamb fat. The only kebabs I am not a big fan of here are the quail. As for appetizers, you have to get their flavorful Uzbek mantu. However, crispy cheburek and flaky samsa are both excellent too. Herring Garnish is very tasty as well. Moving onto salads, I typically order the Humus and Babaganush for dipping with the Tandoori Bread. Korean Carrot is also a nice starter. If you are fond of soup, then I highly recommend Osh-Potche. Lastly, Asian Pilaf is a nice way to end the meal when dining at an Uzbek restaurant, though I think their version is average. When all is said and done, every meal is always amazing. The cost of the meal is always reasonable. And a good time is always had by all every time.
