I love this place! The rice pilaf is spectacular! The meats are cooked to perfection. Honestly, all the food is so good. The price is reasonable as well. However, the service is not stellar. I don't mind it, but you're coming to an old-school kind of restaurant, so be aware that the staff just takes your order and leaves. They also add a tip to your receipt, so be aware of that. But the food is definitely worth it!

There are tinted windows but upon a closer look - they are open! We decided to check out this place for lunch and I'm glad we did. Their fried "dumplings" are delicious with a great side sauce - sort of like salsa. We also tried a lamb and veggie grilled skewer. Very affordable and great lunch spot.

The house salad-- an excellent blend of leafy greens, peppers, tomatoes, onions, avocado, olives and asparagus!

I don't know much about Uzbek food, but this place is one of my family's favorite restaurants in the city overall. Delicious salads, nice waitstaff and affordable prices. The sweetbreads kebab is one of our favorites-- succulent and tender, the chebureki is amazing-- meaty and soupy on the inside with a crispy flakey crust, the house salad is always a winner, and I'm a huge fan of the pelmeni soup and manti's. Strongly recommend!

Came here with my fiancé on the way home from running an errand because this has been on my list for a while! Around 5pm on a Monday night, the place was pretty empty but we had really good service! Ordered the deep fried cow's brain, sweet bread, salad and soup. It was my first time having cow's brain and uh.. I think it tastes a bit like oyster?? Definitely interesting but also not knocking it out of the park if I had to try it again. Wasn't bad! Sweetbread... my fiancé ordered this and I didn't really know what I was until I got it. Wasn't bad either!! Actually one of my fav. Salad - bigger portion than we thought but we loved every single bite. Lamb dumplings - I'm not the biggest fan of lamb at ALL but this was actually good!! Doesn't have the gamey texture that I hate .. quite subtle. Overall, great Uzbek restaurant - super authentic and is a must try!!

Delicious food at reasonable prices. Great selection of Russian and Uzbeki cuisine. I usually come here for lunch, the interior is a bit old school and not enough to use this place for dinner. Portions are big and you can get Pilaf that will feed 4ppl for $15. Most of the time I end up taking food to go as it's so much to eat. Recommend for lunch for sure.

Delicious place. I was continuously surprised at this place. The service is pretty good and the ambiance is pretty clean and comforting. Even if it's a first try at the type of cuisine definitely try this place. Great portions and great food. Couldn't be any better than that.

Their fried things are on the dry side. Definitely need the sauce to come with it. The place is big with tons of seating but there is a lot of people coming in playing music at times. Their service is just okay, we do have to flag them down if needed.

I came here with a group of 20, who had 3 separate bills, and this place did a great job of accommodating all of us. The food was cheap and delicious. I particularly liked the potato chebureki - a large deep-fried pastry with a lightly crispy exterior and mashed potatoes on the inside. It came with this delicious spiced tomato sauce that I could not get enough of. There are lots of vegetarian options, including several kinds of chebureki, samsy, and other types of dumplings, salads, etc. I left with a full stomach and a satisfied palate. I also really enjoyed dessert. As we had a large group, we ordered and tried all of them. My favorite, by far, was the green baklava, which was not like your traditional baklava. It was compressed minced nuts in a sugar sauce (and possibly green food coloring). The chebureki and green baklava alone make this place worth the 1-hour trek that my friends and I made to eat there. The only reason why I docked a star was because our service got a bit slow as more people came to the restaurant. Perhaps this place could benefit from hiring one more server, at least for the weekend.

Food was good portion size but tasted bland. The carrot salad was great but rice was just average.

There are many other options in the area, but I have always come enjoyed this place, and now I treasure it more than ever before. The decor is a bit loud and gaudy for me personally. I always preferred the interior design of Taste of Samarkand or Art of Grill, but I'm okay with Stix's decor because it's bright and clean. More importantly, I love the food at this place. Every time I come here, it's absolutely fantastic. They shine at grilling skewers, so I'll start with that. You really can't go wrong, but I would always get the lamb, lamb ribs, beef, baby chicken, chicken w/ bones, and sea bass. The lola kebab and the chicken lola kebab are not bad, but definitely better at Art of Grill. For the more adventurous, try the veal sweet bread, veal liver, and lamb fat. The only kebabs I am not a big fan of here are the quail. As for appetizers, you have to get their flavorful Uzbek mantu. However, crispy cheburek and flaky samsa are both excellent too. Herring Garnish is very tasty as well. Moving onto salads, I typically order the Humus and Babaganush for dipping with the Tandoori Bread. Korean Carrot is also a nice starter. If you are fond of soup, then I highly recommend Osh-Potche. Lastly, Asian Pilaf is a nice way to end the meal when dining at an Uzbek restaurant, though I think their version is average. When all is said and done, every meal is always amazing. The cost of the meal is always reasonable. And a good time is always had by all every time.

Went inside, and it felt like I was transported elsewhere and not in NYC. I liked how the entire place was decorated. There's room to move around and private sections that are closed off with curtains. Food wise, there were two menus, one that was a tablet which had more options and this other large black book. I suggest looking at the tablet. It took a while to decide what we wanted as there were so many sections. I chose the two soups, which were the dumpling langman soup and the shurpa soup. One tasted like chicken soup but with lamb instead. However, both were pretty small. For the table, we got the Manti soup dumplings, which had minced beef inside with soup inside too and beware it is hot. Also, we got the shepherds salad, but they don't have feta cheese, so we got it without that one ingredient. I would suggest this restaurant if you're interested in trying something unique such as Uzbek food.

We tried several dishes from here and they were all good quality. The best dish we had was their plov (pilaf). The meat was very juicy and the rice is so flavorful with the sauces mixed into it. The prices are very reasonable and comparable to similar restaurants in the neighborhood. My main criticism is that they are a little cheap with the portion sizes. For example, the plov was mostly rice with only a few pieces of meat. There are other Uzbek restaurants in the neighborhood that are much more generous, like Sashlichnaya across the street.

I tired their brisket sandwich - a bit fatty, but very tasty, but expensive ($23) for the portion size they give you compared to the "big" Jewish delis like Katz's, Second Avenue, Mill Basin, David's Brisket House, Sarge's, etc. Those delis are about 25% more expensive, but they give you at least double the portion. But I'm really glad we still have this place because the area is turning into a vast majority of chain fast food garbage. The other kind of weird thing about this place is that they're open 9am-6:30pm weekdays and 9am-5:30pm weekends, but they don't serve any breakfast foods AFAIK. Do people eat knishes for breakfast? I'd love to see them open more like 11:30-9pm, so I could grab a snack or dinner late in the day. Also, they need to clean up the front of the store which is quite messy and doesn't lend itself to sitting and eating.
