We opened the place on a Sunday at noon. We weren't sure if…read morewe should stay, knowing it could be awkward to be the only table. But it wasn't. The manager (or owner, not sure) lady was super friendly and gave us some recommendations, some of which we followed. We ordered the rice pilaf, which was moist, soft but not overcooked, and amazingly seasoned. The roasted eggplant in tahini was terrific; it was roasted to perfection with no bitterness that sometimes eggplant could have if undercooked. The carrot salad was spicy yet refreshing. Lastly we had the beef luyla kabab (the ground beef kabab) and Pargit (young chicken) thighs kabab which both were melting in our mouths. You didn't need teeth for that. Again, its easy to overcook over the grill, but not when you know what you're doing. The offered their home compote for a refreshing beverage, which was indeed appropriate for this summer day and without the extra sweetness most compost have. Don't judge it for being Glatt Koaher. It will take any doubts, if you have any, with your first bite! In conclusion: come hungry, you'd want to eat everything on the menu. I took the takeout menu as I know I'll order some, given I live in the neighborhood. My apologies, we forgot to take a pic of the kababs!

They sat us down near the windows and the entire restaurant was so clean and comfortable. The prices were very fair for the amount of food you get. Disappointing Easter Celebration - Not Worth the 2-Hour Drive…read more My family and I (a party of five, including my elderly mother) visited Plateia GR on Sunday, April 12th at 3 pm for an Easter meal. My niece and two great-grandnieces drove two hours from High Bridge, NJ, just to spend this special day with me and their "Yiayia," but unfortunately, the meal and service did not live up to the occasion. While the atmosphere was lovely - airy and remeniscent of a Greek island - the meal and experience was downhill from there. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by our waiter, Yianni, and seated in the front area by the windows as Voula had promised the day before. Yianni handed us our menus but when I asked for a physical Easter menu, Yianni repeatedly told me to look it up online. Only after I questioned this did he provide two small index cards listing the Easter specials for our party of five. As Greeks, we were all looking forward to the Arni (lamb), but at $40 per plate, it was incredibly disappointing. The meat was mostly bone and extremely chewy - not at all the "slow-cooked" consistency we expected. To make matters worse, the "house salad" listed alongside the Arni (lamb) entree was just a handful of greens on the same plate. At this price point, a separate salad and a cup of Avgolemano soup should have been included. (The Avgolemano soup ordered separately at $10 a bowl {only offered in bowl size} was very tasty and enjoyed by all.) Throughout our meal, Yianni was often nowhere to be found, or seemingly preoccupied with on a tablet at the counter. We had to flag down a very accommodating young lady on staff to address our needs. We were also only served one small platter of pita cut into triangles with a tiny container of tzatseki for five people. When we asked for more, the second plate arrived without any sauce. Following our meal, we weren't even served any Tsoureki (Traditional Greek Easter sweet bread) for dessert as we had expected. I still left a $40 tip (over 18%) out of respect for our shared heritage and the holiday, but after a total bill of $262.11, we left feeling very let down. When family travels that far for a special holiday meal you hope for better. It's unfortunate that a neighborhood spot would offer such poor value and service on such a significant occasion.

They care about their patrons and do everything in their power to make you feel welcome. The decor is simple and uncluttered. Just the right amount of art and adornments, without feeling suffocated. My waiter, Khalil, is a fine gentleman and very personable. He would be welcome at my table anytime. Now for the food: We had the appetizer combo, which consisted of a spinach dish, hummus and pitas, and samosas. Best hummus I've ever had. Spinach was spicy and delicious. Samosa was excellent. For the main course we ordered a kebab platter for 4 people. Three kabobs of your choice, served with white or green (dill) rice. The kabobs here are the best I've ever had (I've been here many times, but this is my first review). This is one of my favorite restaurants in the five boroughs. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

But you get a fly that joins you for the meal it flies near you, on the walls on the tables and on your dishes and the restaurant offers me to come back to the restaurant and get back the tip money that I paid. I think the waiter should keep the tip because I trapped the fly and the waiter removed the fly from my table
