Tonight I left work early to get an eye exam. Appt was in concord at 530 (originally I was told 540 twice on the phone, but upon confirmation text I learned it was 530). I live in Vallejo, so normally it would take 20 minutes to get there, but of course it's pouring rain today. I left work at 5pm, and by 537 I was 10 minutes away from arriving. The receptionist called me- I said I'm so sorry I'm late, I'm almost there, will be there in 10 minutes. She says "well hopefully we can squeeze you in when you get here, you only have a 5 minute window to make your appt." First of all, what? The goal is always to be on time but life happens, five minutes to make an appt is a retarded policy that I imagine the majority of humans cannot adhere to. Whatever. I expressed that is a ridiculous policy but again, said I'm sorry I'm late but I will be there in 10 minutes. I even pull up my Waze and specifically tell her im reading the ETA time right off of it, so she knows I'm not a person who says 10 minutes and shows up 20 mins later. That there is literally a GPS tracker/timer on this. She says OK and we hang up. At 547p- the promised 10 minutes later- I arrive and they have closed. They did not call or text to advise that they couldn't wait any longer for me, she did not express this in the phone call when we spoke at 536p. They just left, well before stated closing time, when they knew a client was on the way. Now, if they had expressed on the phone that they couldn't wait for me anymore, or called back to advise this, or even texted me before actually leaving, I would be annoyed about the ridiculous and previously un-disclosed 5 minute rule, but I would have gotten over it. But leaving without telling me while I am tearing through the rain to get to them, after making every indication on the phone they would give me 10 more minutes to arrive, now that is the lowest, most unbelievably rude thing I have ever experienced in my life. So, if you're like me and you live on the principle of the immense importance of decent human behavior, clear communication, baseline rationality, kindness, and accurate business hours, then please don't make an appointment here. read more

Appointment was fine. They were on time. Lost my last 3 years of records which I thought was odd but since I have no issues with my eyes that wasn't a huge issue. Also Covid restrictions are a bit much for me as I'm vaccinated. But they provided me with a mask free of charge. I do appreciate the ability to make appointments on line as I'm busy and could never seem to call when they were open. read more

Since we moved to the East Bay, my family and I go to TM Optometry, I liked the honesty of the Drs. since my first appointment, given the fact that since I just needed reading glasses I was indicated that I could get them over the counter at Costco instead of getting the prescribed ones. I was also Diabetic so I need a year exam of the Retina which is very proffessional, super recommended and affordable. Will keep coming in the next years. read more

I felt that she was competent and thorough. I went at the tale end of covid-19 and appreciated the safety measures. I will return in two years when I need my new prescription. read more

I was impressed with the modern digital equipment and smooth flow of the office. I filled out my intake form before arriving and everything was very quick. The doctor spent time talking with me, listening to my background and answering questions. Now I plan on getting several pairs of glasses under the current Costco glasses special. Very good, professional service. It's not walk-up, but the delay is acceptable (one day for me). Pre-exam paperwork is minimal, not over the top. Dr. Miyasaki's assistant did the glaucoma (air puff) and vision acuity (out of focus balloon) tests prior to me sitting with Dr. M. Exam itself: Dr. Miyasaki was very personable, explained everything clearly, answered the questions I had, and performed the exam quickly, efficiently and thoroughly. After the vision acuity, he did the retina photo exam, and explained the results with me side-by-side. Overall, I'm very happy with the services provided. Highly recommended! read more

Caveat to this review - if you are going to see Dr. Miyasaki, I highly recommend him, 5-stars. This review is for the other optometrist at this location. I will have to refer to him as Dr. Other Guy as he never bothered to introduce himself to me or my wife (we both had appointments). To say the exam was bare-bones would be an understatement. He ran through everything, didn't really ask any questions, didn't follow-up on any issues, didn't provide any options and didn't provide any contacts to wear out (I've been wearing contacts for 24 years - thus 24 Dr. visits - and have never left without a pair of fresh contacts ... though my wife did get a pair). You generally find two types of people in the health industry - those who are concerned about your well being and take the time to do their job right or those who want to get people in and out as fast as possible. Dr. Other Guy is the latter as he literally saw myself, my wife and a 3rd client within a span of 18 minutes. If you call in for an appointment DEFINITELY make sure it's with Dr. Miyasaki. I was not given any option when I made mine by the receptionist and wrongly assumed it would be with him. read more

Dr Miyasaki was efficient, but did not take time to explain exam results or the timeline I had to get things corrected if they weren't satisfactory. He arbitrarily (without consulting me) assigned a bifocal magnification that I tried to live with for almost a year, but finally reached the point of frustration. Optical store refused to remake the lenses with a weaker bifocal magnification unless I got an updated prescription. When I contacted TM Optometry to ask for an updated prescription, I was treated very condescendingly, and insulted by the person who returned the call from his office. Cannot recommend. Will look for an optometrist who is willing to take the time to provide better customer service. read more

Just avoid if you have a decent insurance. When I called this office, the reception had a pretty rude attitude, but I decided to go anyway for convenience. When I showed up in the office, the environment setting was pretty awful. Super tiny space filled with walk-in (kids, old, sick, etc), I am sure I will get cold or flu just staying here! And the receptionist again, had NO "customer service" mind at all, does not even look at me, no smile, no kindness, today's computer system can talk more kindly. I decided to go to other place and called a few different places when I came home. What a difference. They were all very very nice and kind. If you have decent insurance, just take advantage of it go elsewhere. read more
