I had a terrible experience with the brief contact I had with this restaurant's employees. My friend and I went to speak to employees behind the counter when we were unsatisfied with our food and one of the women proceeded to tell us that we were the "first people in 16 to ever have a problem with their food" and that we should leave and not come back. It was one of the worst encounters I have ever had with a restaurant employee and I will, in fact, be taking the advice of that horribly rude employee and never be returning​ to the establishment. read more

Admittedly, I have not tried any other Asian restaurants in Ann Arbor except this one, however it was a great experience. There were three of us and we all ordered different items and were all pleased with our selections and each others! Ample portions and reasonable prices will insure our return to this venue! I used to really like this place. They once had salt-and-pepper chicken on the menu, which was a favorite. It felt like a dive but the food was great. So when I had the opportunity the other day to go back for lunch, for the first time in at least a year, I looked forward to it. I guess you can't go home again. The food really stunk. My lunch-mate and I both, independently, thought the fried rice tasted like Rice-A-Roni. The eggroll tasted like it came from a frozen Costco bag. And the main entrées were tasteless. In fact, they had salt on the table and the food needed it!!I've never been to a Chinese restaurant where they have salt. And I've certainly never had Noam's Chinese food that needed table salt. I'm not sure if the menu has changed, owner or if we stopped in on a bad day. But it left a bad impression and I'm not sure I'll return. read more

Like most of the reviews, I agree that the dishes on the Chinese menu is much better than the dishes on the American menu. The serving size is pretty large. My friends and I were last here on Sunday and the 6 of us ordered 4 dishes from the Chinese menu and there was plenty of food to go around. My first visit for lunch today and I will return. Very impressed with the General Tsou's Chicken and the hot and sour soup. My only nit was that the fried rice was rather bland. People were very nice and the service was zippy. Lots of Chinese folks in there which is always a good sign. read more

This place it great! I give it a five star rating solely on the fact that it is in A2. I have had better Chinese food at one restaurants in Denver (my hometown) and while in China and Taiwan. This place is number two on my list for a relatively authentic experience and authentic food inside the US. I have been there twice and I was pleased both times. The sautéed garlic green beans are delicious and fresh. The beef noodle soup is my favorite!!!! If you like generic American Chinese food, you may not like this place quite as much. VEGETARIANS BEWARE: I ordered vegetable lettuce wraps which I thought was playing it safe, but either the the server mistook my order over the phone, their version of vegetable lettuce wraps include meat, or a few pieces of pork (I think?) snuck in the vegetable mix... Regardless, I immediately called TKWU to see if the dish was supposed to have meat in it or if it was an accident. This is when the employee made the most fateful, customer service mistake. She denied that anything could have been wrong with the order! I hung up disgruntled and unsatisfied and threw the order away. First and last time eating TKWU. read more

Possibly the best Chinese food I have ever had. My room mates and I make a weekly trip to TK every Sunday and never miss. Sometimes we cannot wait till Sunday and have to come in during the week. I last dined hear about 10 years ago and it was pretty bad. I reluctnatly agreed to dine there this evening since there were very few places open on Christmas Eve. I hoped that the food had improved since my last experience. Sadly, it has not. I've eaten in quite a few Chinese and Korean restaurants in Ann Arbor, I don't understand how this one is still in business, other than they have the luck to be in a good location. The food was bland, stale, and dry. Service was terrible. We never received the tea we ordered, and the soup I ordered came after the main dish because the waiter 'forgot'. After we were served no one came to our table to ask how the food was. Hopefully, ten years from now I will not fall into the same trap - I'd rather go to Wendy's. read more

My wife and I thought Tk Wu was great. There was no secret Chinese menu as another reviewer mentioned. The Americanized and Chinese menu were combined to make one large menu. Our waiter was also very helpful in answering any questions we had about the menu. The crowd was around 50% Asian and everything I saw on other peoples tables looked really good. It is a smaller place, with how crazy that part of Ann Arbor can get I would imagine it may be hard to get a table sometimes. We had no trouble getting a table at dinner time on a weekday night. Prices were good, especially considering the huge family style portions you get. We started with the beef noodle soup which was outstanding. It was around $8 and could probably serve 6 people. I also got the beef steak with special sauce from the Chinese menu, I'd probably give that a 4 maybe 4.5 out of 5. We also got the chicken and duck with rice, which neither of us cared for that much. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor. I can't say if the food is authentic, but it's consistently good. My wife says it's the best Chinese she's ever had. They have a great variety of dishes for vegetarians and vegans. The place is always clean and the staff are quiet but friendly. It is relatively small, but we have never really had to wait to be seated. Among our favorite dishes is the Princess Tofu, but I'm not a fan of the vegetarian lettuce wraps. Most of the menu is written in both English and what I assume to be Chinese hanzi, so take that for what it's worth. read more

I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. The first time we went, the food was greasy and filled with corn starch. The second time, we were seated and never waited on. Ordered tofu and and shrimp dish that was very bland. No flavor to the sauce and it had rice noodles, which I hadn't realized, but those actually added something. I ordered for delivery, which made the cost high for lunch ($20 minimum + tax + delivery charge). The crab Rangoon came with no dipping sauce l, only the take-out packets of duck sauce. I called and asked if they served them with the packets in the restaurant and they said no, they serve house made plum sauce at the restaurant. For $6.95, I feel delivery customers should get the same quality of dipping sauce - let's face it - crab Rangoon rarely have crab and are very bland with a good plum sauce. They did deliver the sauce about a half hour later, but by then they were cold and pretty unremarkable in terms of the filling. I have the feedback about the sauce and felt the response was defensive. Why not serve the same quality to both restaurant and delivery customers? read more

The food took well more than an hour to arrive. The "real time" app indicated they were on their way about 45 minutes before they arrived and then there was no movement. After that wait, I'd have been delighted if the food tasted good, but, alas it was pretty horrible. The egg drop soup had zero flavor (and I love egg drop soup and I cook with limited salt myself), and most the rest of the order had a vaguely greasy but nothing specific flavor. This has pretty much been a tradition with us for 7 years or so, the bride and I come here before very show we catch at the Michigan Theater across the street. I like the fact that it has remained as it is while more 'progressive' options spring up around it. And I hope that the faithful of the area continue to reward it for staying true. If I were to write this a year or two ago, I would give it four stars; the prices are extremely reasonable, the portions are generous and the hot and sour soup is AWESOME. The food itself is good, not five star worthy, but a good catch for a college town. The Kung Pao chicken is usually good as is the General Tao chicken (lots of it) and the Beef with Garlic Sauce is decent as well. Be warned about the salt content though, and this is really what brings it down a notch. The food is salty. Period. And I mean salty by the standards of adrenal fatigue sufferers. On our most recent trip, the bride had the Chicken and Broccoli. When she didn't eat too much of it, I took a bite and it was salty to he point of being inedible. Had we not already paid and on the verge of leaving to catch the show, I would have asked for a refund. If you read any of my reviews, you will understand that is a drastic statement. So I will give them the benefit of the doubt, four stars for the history and the hot and sour, knocked down for the overall saltiness and unpalatability of the brides most recent dish. read more

Came here once, ordered the taiwan beef soup noodles.The problem with the dish wasn't the portion, which was more than sufficient, nor was it the broth, which although one-dimensional (soy sauce and five spice) and lacked the body of a good gelatinous broth, was decently flavorful enough to sip along with the noodles on a cold day. The problem was the noodles. The noodles, for a lack of a better term, simply fell apart in the soup. They either need to cook the noodle less in water, or switch to better noodles. In taiwan, the noodles they use are buckwheat (soba) noodles, in lanzhou, china, their noodles are hand stretched bicarbonate noodles, the italians add eggs to their fresh noodles to make them more chewy and capable of being al-dente. All of these techniques makes for a chewier noodle that doens't fall apart in the broth. Just buy better noodles TK Wu read more

Co-Owners Michael and Mei are truly class acts. They always make my guests feel very special whenever we visit them. Food is as good as it gets for "home-style" cooking.
