This place makes me miss Tung-Kee noodle that was on 10th street. This place is horrible. We tried it finally today after missing the food from Tung Kee. There is absolutely no flavor in any of the food we got. We got the chow fun, that literally just tasted like oil like all other negative reviews says, fried rice and beef ball soup. I couldn't eat through it without my stomach hurting as all I tasted was oil. The chow fun noodles were just mainly white, with no sauce or anything either. It was just bad. I wish I took a picture of it. It was close to $60 for 3 plates. Talk about a rip off for the quality we got. Was looking for a quick dinner stop after driving back from LA, and found this restaurant right off of 101! Although we entered ten minutes before closing (7pm), we were still able to place our order. The beef ball noodle soup was very warm and comforting, although the broth was on the lighter side. The combination rice stick soup broth was much more flavorful, and the rice noodles were cooked well. The beef stew vermicelli had a deep tomato-y flavor, though it was also slightly lacking in salt. Finally, their signature fried daikon egg flower cake along with the tangy sauce was a great complement to the noodles. Wouldn't recommend driving all the way to Gilroy to have a taste, but if you are looking for a pit stop with noodle cravings, be sure to check this place out! read more

From being ignored, to not being asked what I'd like to drink and having to walk up to the front counter to ask for a drink to having our food thrown on the table and the waitress talking to someone else and ignoring my mom and I. I love #23 fried noodle dish. I ordered it here and I was extremely disappointed. First of all you must order at the counter. The cashier/waitress/server was rude, told us where to sit. The condiments were missing at some tables. My order was bland. I needed the condiments. The floors were dirty and we had to ask for tea. I also got the stink eye as I told my husband at the time. I haven't been to a TN Noodle for a few years since I've gravitated to Luu New Tung Kee Noodle, mostly due to convenience and consistency. Because the NTK in Gilroy was closed, we decided to try TK, but the whole experience was weird and surreal to say the least. First, there was no servers. Second, need to order at counter (of course, no sign). So, the lady took the order, also served the drink and the food. We waited. Our chow fun sat at the counter for so long that the cook brought it back to fry it again :) Third, one of cooks came out to clear the dishes. And finally, the beef stew noodle came with noodle and rice stick (what?). All the food tasted very bland and dull. Not worth the money we paid for. This has proved once again, TK has a problem with food consistency. One day you might get decent food, another day you get terrible food. And this cost-cutting made the experience worse and services slow. read more

We at Mickey D's lady really? VALUE 2* I think this spot may be priced higher than other TKs. The wonton combo was like $18 and totally not worth the price. The regular combo was reasonable, I think $14. LOCATION 3* This is near the Gilroy Outlets in a big lot with lots of parking. It's also one of the few Azn restaurants near there and bonus that it opens early at 9am. Large dining room, reasonably clean. RECOMMENDATIONS Don't pay up for the wonton combo. Or Vietnamese chinese. Folks from several hundred years to modern era, those that fled the communists of china and spread across the world including vietnam. I wouldn't equate the communism of china and it's 100s of millions of dead to the secretive, private version in Vietnam. Just like you can find this cuisine in cambodian american restaurants (try searching those terms). And you can find this food in China and in chinatown diaspora. Fun fact you can find chinese people from this region in the San Gabriel Valley More fun facts when the democrats decided to bull doze LA chinatown, all the Chinese americans, 90% ++ moved to the SGV San Gabriel Valley hence the number of cities with high chinese demographics in that part of southern california. The current LA chinatown is considered chinese vietnamese hence the lack of historical feel(see democrats wanted the land and wanted to move the Chinese out, introduced bulldozer). Coincidentally there were 3 chinatowns in San Jose, CA with amazing historical we can call it archeological artifacts from that period. It had one of the nations first water management systems, I can't think of the word. Though subsequent "fires" and the destruction of 3 chinatowns over the course of a very... Very... Very ... Long time have largely erased local memory of how large the Chinese population and asian american population used to be centered in downtown San Jose and spreading outwards. The removal over 100+ years is why they've been spread out to east s.j., south s.j. and elsewhere. Ps the food is great. - you can laugh now. I consider this homestyle chinese food some might want to call it vietnamese or cambodian or yunan or etc. Don't care it's delicious in it's own way, I stopped comparing it to pho a long time ago, this ain't pho, look up how to cook pho broth. Warning it's basic AF. Makes me think of home cooking. And I first discovered this type of cuisine as a kid with my mum at one of the older TK noodz. It was a sad day when they closed down the one on el camino near lawrence expressway and the one in Cupertino where Paris Baguette is thankfully learning that it is a cuisine and not just a brand (TK, Tung Kee) has helped prevent foodie anxiety like the loss of Souplantation due to the Californian authoritarian 1-party control and destruction of Californias food industry. Fun fact yelp reports that 60% of restaurants that have been closed due to the lockdown edicts from Gavin Newsom, Nancy Pelosi's nephew and former SF Mayor (helped manage the decline and hoodification, poverty transformation) will never reopen. It's like if someone walked into a museum and took a flame thrower to all the art in the second floor. Those business owners have lost everything and their food won't return. So do your best and make sure to GO PICK UP if you do order and DO NOT use a delivery service if you want to make sure money gets into the hands of the business owner. PS. The greatest support for local business after your dollars is signing the recall petition to remove Gov. Newsom so his restrictions can be dismantled and adults can return to being treated as adults and every job can be considered essential again. Google recall gavin petition and save local businesses. Second timer here. Either with COVID 19 - it's gotten worse or it's been worse and I just never noticed. But after this week, I will NOT be coming back. There is nothing wrong with the food but just the service. I totally understand how restaurants have had to charge an extra To go(aka Covid 19 fee) for the extra supplies - containers, etc. It is $0.50 per item ordered in case you're wondering. The part that confounds me - and this something that many of us overlook. It's tacking on the extra SVC charge on the credit sign slip according to the woman as a credit card charge fee that they've always had. Really? And mind you, NOWHERE in the the store is that posted. I came here with my family. We actually were looking for pho noodles. But they didn't have any. So we ended up getting the combination soup which has shrimp, beef that had no flavor, ground beef balls that are compacted, noodles, rice noodles and cabbage. It was a 3 out of 5. My husband got the number 11 beef noodle soup. it wasn't that spicy when he asked for it to be spicy but they gave him chopped jalapenos for it. It was also a three out of five. The chow mein was very very delicious we ordered the combination chow mein that has shrimp beef and chicken as well as cabbage and celery. We got that mostly for the kids. Today we both had the #21 Combination Chow Fun with shrimp, chicken and pork. The chow fun, onions and garlic were sauted in a gravy, but the cabbage and broccoli were not. The flavor was delicious and the veggies were fresh. The cost was $9/each, but I did have leftovers. Surprisingly, I had about eight shrimp. If you've been to other TK Noodle spots, you might have noticed that they're cash only. Well not this one, they accept major credit cards. The only negative (and it's only a negative compared to the other TK's) is that they aren't as quick. Actually in the other TK's, you FEEL them shuffling you in and out. Here is a nice, slower pace yet the food was still delivered in an acceptable time frame. The Pearl Thai iced tea wasn't that great - light on the tea and heavy on the milk/cream. read more

Horrendous - and it is heartbreaking to write this review as someone whose childhood was around TK Noodle's combination fried noodles and fried taro cakes. I stopped in here dreaming of my childhood dishes and nostalgic of the memories that came with ordering #30 and #24. Sadly, it was best left a memory. The fried noodles came with a watery sauce that had almost no corn starch at all, which was the equivalent of dipping it into brown water. The sauce was flavorless, zero meat or fish or soy taste of any kind. In my childhood the TK Noodles would at least fry the noodles themselves to a dark yellow, in this case, they had come straight out of a package. The meat and chunks of protein and shrimp were bland and tasteless, almost reheated from frozen, doused in bites of red chili to make it bearable. There was no wok taste. The soups like #1 and #2 fared better as the soups had flavor, but the wontons were clearly frozen mass-produced with a bizzare mysterious meat filling and a 5:1 ratio of wonton wrapper to filling. Not discernible meat either. Needs MSG. What makes me so curious is my memory TK Noodle was so good in the Bay Area growing up because there was simply no other restaurant in the area with strong flavors (before all the Asian people moved in 15 years ago). It seems with the competition and surge of Vietnamese restaurants who offer similar dishes at cheaper price points in the past decade have collectively outperformed TK in scalability, taste, availability, and price. The bowl they give u has enough juice but not the noodle. This is far by the worst TK noodle i have ever been too. They didnt have free water so they charge you 90 cent for water. Our fried rice sucked. They put like 4 tiny shrimps in your fried rice. Not regular size shrimp but tiny ones, 3 pieces chinese sausages, and same pork grinds they put in your noodle. The fried pork fat and shallots were old (smelled like old meat fried in old oil, left out for a few days to get stale). Before my family and I went shopping in the outlets nearby, I suggested to my family that we should stop somewhere near the vicinity to eat. We were lost but since we were in the same lot as TK Noodle, we decided to go in and give it a try. At first, it didn't seem like there was a lot of people but as we waited, it became more full. It seemed like they were understaffed seeing only two servers and two people in the kitchen. They weren't prepared for the capacity they had when we went in. The restaurant was well-maintained. It was clean and the noise level was conversational. I ordered the wonton noodle combination which included shrimp and beef balls. I would say that it was an average meal that I got. There are definitely better restaurants out there. I love putting Sriracha in my soup and yes, it gets hot so I drink my water. The servers didn't come and refill. Got tired with waiting so I just went up tot he counter and got a refill myself. read more

On our drive down to LA we visited TK Noodle, good experience. We ordered: Combination chow fun, two won ton soups, and ice coffer w/condense milk. Everything was TK Noodle standard. Our waiter was friendly and brought us extra bowls to share our won tons. And most of all the bathrooms were clean unlike New Tung Kee. read more

There are many times when I am on the road and I stumble on some small dining treasure such as TK Noodle, in Gilroy. It looks like this place hasn't been here for too long, as it is in one of the many newer outlet 'sub-malls' in this area' I was able to order a dish I have not had in many years, Bahn Mi Bo Koh, which is basically a hearty bun noodle soup made from a very flavorful beef stew, with huge chunks of stewed beef, carrots and coriander. It is certainly one of the most 'comfortable' Vietnamese dishes that I know. And, as is my preference, it came 'nuclear hot'!! Parking is plentiful and easy, and the prices are definitely good, thus making this place one of my NEW regular stops on my way home from Silicon Valley!! read more
