Today was a easy day I went into check out a couple of watches and a necklace I had previously seen in the jewelry section I went over there there were about two people in front of me so I just continued walking around the counter,patiently waiting my turn, Dezerie the associate in the jewelry section walked over to me when another lady said she was first Dezerie said no, I seen when he walked up and you are two people after him and then continued to help me with my shopping.. . Long story short I didn't purchase anything that day because the watch I was looking for was already sold however I do appreciate the professionalism and awareness of Dezerie even though she was busy she took the time to see who showed up and when, so she could provide the best customer service available. Overall the jewelry section is has some bangers, but they don't last long so I recommend getting them when you see them because you can always return them if you change your mind but if you never get it you'll never have it, on another note store seems messy most of the time, they just store manager is a more quantity not quality,type personality, but has quite a variety of things to check out, so it kinda works. read more

They have remodeled this TJMaxx recently. It was pretty clean here on a Monday which is surprising since it was also the first of the month. I came to find something specific and did not find exactly what I wanted but found a different option. The value was tremendous, especially considering I went to another store to find it and the item was more than double what I paid at TJ Maxx! I was just at TJ Maxx on Stockdale, I was called to register 4 to check out. The female that waited on me looked like a lady that has worked there for years. I made a comment about her working there for awhile. Her exact words were, "My misery is not your concern." Needless to say, I spoke to the manager Ben. He apologized & said he would let HIS manager know. The female mentioned something about being sick for 2 weeks, maybe that's why she was wearing a mask. This store gets worse by the day. There are never nearly enough cashiers and the lines are constantly to the back of the store even right after they open. The store is a mess on the floor, as are the dressing rooms. Management is failing this place in a BIG way. I keep saying I'm not coming back but there are only a few games in town to shop. The 'remodeling' of the cosmetic section is ridiculous to navigate with a cart. The aisles were removed and now it's a maze. I don't bother anymore. This store added much needed registers but they aren't 'manned' even when lines are wrapped halfway around the store! This store has gone downhill. read more

I love this store but the wait times are insane!I can't tell you how many times I have walked out because the cashier line was so long. After walking at the Park at Riverwalk, we found ourselves at this TJ Maxx store close by. Wifey, Mama N' Law, and Papa N' Law were looking for some deals. As they enjoyed browsing through the store looking for the deals, I decided to do the same. Got to say that this store is clean and organized. It was quite busy that morning, but everything was still neat and orderly. Much different experience than all the experiences I've had at Ross Dress For Less locations. Well, I did not find anything that I needed or wanted. The three of them did find good stuff at low prices. They were all brand names too so SCORE!! Waiting an hour in line is unacceptable. Management needs to get it together and hire more people or learn to manage the employees they do have a lot better. If the line is all the way to the back of the store there's no reason why there should only be 2 people running the registers. read more

You need a separate RETURN LINE!!! We are all tired of having to stand in the regular line when we could simply go to a quick return line! All other stores have them! Why don't you!? TJ Maxx is basically brand name things that are discounted. I wouldn't say this is where the rejects go, but where a lot of the outdated/out of style things go. The funny part is that the joke is really on TJ Maxx as you can definitely find a lot of things in style for a low price. So for Halloween this year I decided I wasn't going to spend $50 on a costume for my kids to wear one time and then discard it after they wore it. I ended up finding pretty cool costumes for a lower cost then what I would've spent at Target or at Walmart. My older son found a costume riding a T-Rex for about $40 and my younger son found a Siracha costume for $20. Not bad right? I usually spend about $50 per kid, so this was saving money. The dumb thing on my recent visit was that the cash register people forgot to remove the security device on the costume package and so I had to go out of my way the next day take have them remove it. Funny thing is, when we walked out the alarm didn't even go on and when we walked in w the merchandise then the alarm went berserk. Enough w the costumes though, you can literally find just about anything here for your home and your everyday needs at TJ Maxx, but sometimes it can be pricey when shopping here. If you come in without a plan, then sometimes you get to the checkout w a bunch of unnecessary things in your basket. So my advice to you is, make sure you come w a plan on your purchases or you'll be spending a few hours walking around looking at just about everything. read more

Love coming here, they always have something to buy that's what makes them dangerous. You walk in and bam stuff to buy left, right and center. Store is clean and have a variety of stuff to shop for. Cashier seem to be always busy I can't only imagine the holiday rush. Even with the holidays it's a busy store, employee always restocking some area. Nice place for quality hand bag and furniture for your home or office. You have to hit up the beauty area while your there. There's always a shampoo or lotion you never thought you would find there. I sometimes like just looking no obligation to buy, that's the best time you seem to find stuff that way. Prices are right and product is quality why not shop there. I'll recommend this store to anyone, just know you may have to dig deep to find treasures. read more

Came in the middle of a Tuesday and it was packed. Four registers had their lights on, but the cashiers stepped away. One register had no lights on and was helping customers. Today on 10/23/2023, I went into TjMax with the intention of looking for an espresso machine to gift to someone and I found the Breville Bambino. The box was sealed so I purchased it. When I arrived home and opened the box to make sure the required items were inside before I gifted it, I instantly saw the espresso machine was previously used and returned. Not only was it used but there was water left in the reservoir, and there was old coffee liquified residue inside of the machine. Something this expensive over $300 shouldn't be getting resold because that's so unsanitary. It was obvious the tj max employees failed to do their job and they failed to ensure the machine was floor ready and ready for repurchase. I called the business and I spoke with the alleged store manager who provided me with two different names during our conversation. He said his name was Tyler but then changed it to Jacob. I explained the issues with the espresso machine to Tyler/Jacob and he provided me with a negative attitude, sarcasm, intimidation, and a threatening response. It was obvious Tyler/Jacob was a teenager due to his lack of sympathy, communication skills, lack of professionalism, and lack of customer service or maybe he was just a poor excuse adult as a manager. In my many years of working and being a customer in the customer service industry, I have never in my life encountered a desensitized, unprofessional, misinformed, and misguided "store manager." My only advice for TJ Max would be to terminate Tyler/Jacob from the tj max Stockdale location in Bakersfield to prevent further claims, discrepancies, and liability. Tyler/Jacob is going to get Tjmax involved in a lawsuit if he is not terminated. read more

Store was really clean , employees were really ask questions was direct where things were , if you look lost another employee will ask if you need help. It's like adventure going thru that store , you can always find something that you really need or just want. They have a variety of things . It's very organized compare to other TJ Max Only reason it's getting 4 stars is they have all those checkouts but only have two open While there is 11 people in line, an they can't say short staff when I see many employees on the floor 2 were talking an laughing . Hey I get you have to enjoy your job an want conversation while working but still there are 11 of us in line an one had enough for remolding a room . The twenty something year old manager Tyler is an inexperienced snot who is condescending and rude. He refused to return a $20 pants that clearly were not worn because all tags were on it. I also had the I had the receipt and was accepting store credit since I was purchasing additional items much more than $20. I have been a loyal shopper at TJ Maxx for like 20 years. I've never had my return items inspected like he and his minions did. I wasted an hour of shopping than 30 minutes trying to leave. I don't like wasting my time on a weekend. I will not go back until Tyler is no longer employed at that location. And I will be writing to upper management about how disrespectful and rude he was. read more

Not as much "stuff" as Home Goods but closer to home for me. I love the location with so many other stores around. New build, clean. Since this store has opened, so many more red tags have appeared. Gotta love clearance. The quality, I find very good. I like the clothing, beauty items, home decor and pet area. I like it all. They have the strong Tuff tennis balls for dogs. You will not be greeted as you walk in, staff are simply acceptable upon check out but the great thing is, you shop at your leisure, uninterrupted! Very relaxed feel. Update - be warned - if you buy anything electronic and if fails even as soon as you get it home, NO returns. They will direct you to the manufacture's warranty which is a pain in the A$%^&. No one likes to return things to any store but the return policy is way too strict here and there is no customer protection. It actually makes me rethink how much money I spend here. This is a great TJ Maxx! The employees are always nice and helpful! I always leave with great deals. Helpful Tip: come to this TJ Maxx to shop, not the one on Ming. Even though the Ming location sometimes has better clearance deals, the employees are no where near as nice and helpful as the Stockdale location. I've had repeated issues in the past with one of the Ming location managers (talking down to me condescendingly). went inside for some Christmas shopping and overheard either a shift lead, maybe a manager, berating an employee who was clearly trying their hardest with the holiday crowd. as a manager myself this was absolutely appalling. it wasn't constructive, wasn't helpful, didn't give any kind of advice, she did nothing but try to belittle this employee. everyone in the isle could hear her and i can guarantee that they were all just as uncomfortable as me. all of the employees look like they're trying their best so for management to be doing anything other than encouraging them is absolutely abhorrent. shame on you! read more

What a great store this is. It's so clean and organized. I specifically went there to look for a Michael Kors handbag but ended up buying lots of other things instead. I was especially impressed by their luggage section. I am coming here the next time I need luggage. They have lots of lightweight spinners big and small. They also have a section for travel items and neck pillows. I liked the cosmetic section where I found a cool tiny lighted suction mirror from only $2.99. There were lots of ladies bras and underwear and lots of beautiful shoes to try on. I like their home decorating section. It had nice Easter ceramic pieces. They have a good selection of beautiful baby clothes and they have a pet section where I got my Yorkie a Easter bunny to play with. The girl who checked me out was also very friendly and personable. NEW STUFF EVERY DAY! I know this, because thanks to Covid, this has become my lunchtime hangout. I get a thrill gliding my fingers through the garments on the rack I just saw the day before and marvel over the new sweaters and sports bras that found there place overnight. If it's electronics, children's toys, dog treats, fancy snacks, shoes, makeup, luggage, your looking for? They have it. Jewelry, shoes, Tupperware, home decor? Yep, they have that too. I would've given this TJ Maxx 4 stars but since I have visited several other TJ Maxx's in other cities, this one is below standard compared to them. Women's clothes- it's hit & miss. They have plenty of tops, work out clothes & shoes, but the brands are not as diverse as they advertise on TV. Men's clothes- a lot of repeats. Children-good luck finding anything!! Kitchen & home-their shelves have been so painfully empty lately.. On a positive note, they have the cutest gift bags, cards, wrapping paper, kid's books, & well stocked linen area. My issue is that when I shop i need to communicate with others outside the store to make sure i get the right gift, shoe size, shirt, etc. But they have some of the worst internet signal and do not offer wifi to accommodate their shoppers. Also, while I was shopping I managed to overhear a conversation of two employees and one of them ended up calling a customer a 'B' because she wasn't in the spot she had told the rep they customer was going to be. Worst branch of TJ Maxx... no consideration to resolve customer issue at all.My wife bought this sandals about 3 weeks ago not knowing that it was two different sizes. When she bought it, there's no box and was tied together and she expected that it's same size( part of it, her fault for not checking) but isn't they supposed to check it too in the counter??? And it was tied together when she bought it as far as she remember. When she wore it first time today and walked in it, that's when she realized it's two different sizes and of course it will not be good as new. She went and try to talk to customer service and referred to somebody else and she assumed as manager or supervisor, she said it can't be replace because she used it already. She said she just wanted the other half but the manager insisted that it's not possible.She then told the manager, what's gonna happen to the two different sizes still in the store, for sure no ones gonna buy it, the manager said that they will just gonna mark it down ,not sure what does it mean. This TJ Maxx is just like the others. Mostly designer stuff at steep discounts. Now me being me, my first stop is the shoe section. Always the shoes. ;) Unfortunately, I did not find a single pair that even called my attention. Of course, this is my taste, not everyone's so you may have better luck finding something you like. I honestly didn't even check a pair of shoes to see if the deals are any good on the shoes. The store has many departments and many options within each department. Lots of great home stuff as well as active wear. Probably my two favorite areas this time since I found no shoes lol. Honestly, this is like any other TJ Maxx. Nothing to call home about but still a new store full of other options for your shopping needs. I'll definitely come back and keep checking the shoe section for something new! ;) read more

This is my first time at this TJMaxx location. I'm a usual at the one on Ming Ave. This location is much smaller. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with their selections. The store is kept well clean and things are eased to see without going through every rack in order to find items I might want. I'm rating this one a 3 stars because of the cleanest and overall look of the place. Neither-less to say that this store might not bring items that are of my like or style but it might be of someone else as it did have a good amount of shoppers waiting at the door before they opened. read more

I have shopped in here with the wife on many occasions. We come here when doing other shopping in this big busy plaza. It has been pretty neat and organized inside, and good discounts on so many things. We have bought the following items here: Kitchen Knives, Cleavers, Skillets, Candles, Shirts, and Pants. Have looked at towels a couple of times but nothing we wanted. And maybe the best thing about this store-they usually have at least five check out stations open.
