Nordstrom Rack in Bakersfield is an average experience compared to the other Nordstrom Racks across this beautiful state of California. This Nordstrom Rack has plenty of inventory it just happens to be average, overpriced items that can be found at the TJ Maxx right next door or somewhere between Marshalls and Kohls. Today was probably one of the few times that I actually was looking for a pair of shoes and they happen to be some hocus I don't believe Nordstrom Rack does price matching when they add their stickers to their products but a lot of their products are overpriced whether something is on sale or not is debatable. Today I was looking for On clouds or Hokas for my upcoming trip. The Nordstrom Rack usually has comparable prices to online at the on store or even the Hoka store but after researching several items including the one in the pictures below there's no reason to shop at Nordstrom Rack anymore, instead shop online and save 10 to 20%. I really do understand sales price meaning Hoka can run better sales in most cases as the manufacturer but most items are overpriced in Nordstrom Rack. Ralph Lauren polo shirts two to three years old are still running $70 even more expensive than the outlet price, basically Nordstrom Rack is overpriced in my opinion and this one in Bakersfield has given me reason to continue to go. read more

I've been a Nordstrom and The Rack customer for 20 years, but The Rack location in Bakersfield has make me never step foot inside again. This store has always been subpar compared to other Rack locations, but so is everything in Bakersfield. We seem to attract the B grade of every large chain. This location on Stockdale in the Riverwalk has always been sparsely stocked and has a paltry men's and children's departments. Today I had a very unpleasant interaction with the store manager (didn't catch her name, older lady). She was extremely unpleasant for a mistake THE STORE made and lacked customer service skills in a major way. Upper management needs to reevaluate and revamp this location entirely. read more

We're preparing for a coming vacation and I was told we needed new luggage What's wrong with the sets we already have? I asked, we need spinners I was told our existing luggage sets are outdated we have the type you must pull around not a thing wrong with them. I pulled up Amazon they had a massive selection I'm sure there were 2 sets we could find. NO We had to check out the selections at Costco Macys Target TJ Max Penny's Our searching was over a few days my patience spent, Amazon would of been so easy, finally I said that was it for me no more. But somehow we missed Nordstrom Rack.It was 102 today when we entered the store located in the upscale Riverwalk Shopping Center. I liked Nordstrom the minute I felt the cool AC. Nordstrom is a large, open store featuring quality merchandise We looked in a lot of travel departments In all those stores. Nordstrom hands down had the largest selection of luggage sets, brand names many different sizes soft and hard cases most with the desired spinners. I was impressed. We were done no more shopping anywhere else or on Amazon. We easily decided on the Travel Pro brand, it had excellent reviews my set is grey my wife picked out a black set. Compared to other department and clothing stores, Nordstrom Rack is cleaner with a better selection. The lines on the weekends and holidays are long, but move steady. The floor staff are sometimes helpful but more often limited beyond stocking- but almost always friendly. read more

I think they train their register employees to talk at you the entire time you're checking out in order to distract you from overcharging you or shorting you on returns. I've had both happen here. Why can't they just shut up and do their jobs which is ringing up your purchase? Why the interrogation? It's to distract you from shady charges. Watch your receipts here, trust me. read more

We would go to this store when we're looking for something in particular but don't want to do the 30-minute drive to the outlets. They would sometimes have what we are looking for, and sometimes, we end up buying something randomly, like a really good pair of running shoes! The store is clean and well-lit. After shopping next door, we decided to check out Nordstrom Rack. Papa was looking for a new pair of shoes. For the four of us, it was our first time ever stepping into this Nordstrom Rack in Bako. May have been to one or two other locations in the past. As soon as we stepped inside, we were all greeted. There was a cool sanitizer station at the entrance as well for customers to use. Honestly, the store reminded me of an upscale Ross store. Big difference was that this Nordstrom Rack was very organized and very clean! Big plus in our book! Came in today and had the misfortune of being in line with one cashier at work. The cashier in question didn't have a name tag, but was a young college aged Hispanic male with a man bun. He spent 15+ minutes taking to some customers about their schizophrenic mom. As it turns out, he didn't even know them, but continued to ignore his job to chit chat with them because their boring and long winded story was in line with his major. In doing so he held up the line that reached 10+ customers. Eventually another cashier stepped in. The wait was ridiculous as was his half ass apology that was only offered when called out for not doing his job. Do better! read more

This location probably has what you want but they also have what everyone else wants too (get ready to face a crowd and traffic). Needless to say, this location is often very busy and if you are looking for a quite, peaceful shopping experience you may want to consider another place. I had the luxury of stopping by this location during a weekday (Monday afternoon) in hopes of beating the crowd and lines. My hopes increased as I was able to find a parking spot right up front near the door. Alas, it seems like crowds waited on me at the door because as soon as I walked in about 10-15 people came in right after me. (Maybe we all had the same idea). Either way, I am on the taller side of life and finding pants that fit but are also long enough has been a life long challenge. This day I found exactly what I was looking for in four different colors. The hardest part was navigating in and out of the dressing room, between people in tight isles and waiting in line. Given that those were the worst parts of the visit I would say my trip was a success. The store was very clean and the clothes sizes where setup exactly as they were labeled. This made my selections very quick and easy. I am looking forward to my next visit but not looking forward to how much I may spend.... read more

I like the Nordstrom Racks. It's one of the few places I can go and find a good selection of men's shoes in a size 13. They don't always have a ton of guys clothes I care to wear or try on, but I am usually here with my wife for her, so it's not that serious. They do often have some nice jackets and outerwear items I like though. There is a great selection of women's items here and my wife loves to check out the shoes as they have a good women's selection too. Decent array of clothes, though not a lot of dresses (while I know that's seasonal I stand by my comment). Never interacted with any staff, but the place was clean and no messy piles of clothes, which was appreciated. read more

I was here for the grand opening and I also visited throughout the months and as well as today. The Rack here is nowhere on the level of the Racks in southern Cali. Just because it's Bako doesn't mean you have to stock the store with left overs! Shoe area is nice and do is the makeup right when you enter but it's still expensive. If I'm browsing through the clearance section I Expect to get a great deal. However, a shirt that use to be 50$ that's now 47.99$ IS NOT A DEAL. Ideally there is something for everyone. read more

I couldn't find any of the brands that I love that the store used to stock pre-covid. I went in looking for some Paige or Joe's jeans and found none in my size. I do not like the new layout. Nordstrom (there's no S, folks - it's not NordstromS) Rack is a gem of a shop. Imagine walking into Nordstrom and everything is on sale. You don't have to wait for some seasonal sale to happen, and there's no coupons... ever. That's the beauty of NR! The location is fantastic. It's a lovely strip mall with a plethora of shopping options including a nice TJ MAXX next door and a DSW one door down. Some of the best departments are their handbags (Hello, 75% off Michael Korrs and Marc Jacobs!). Inexpensive designer perfumes and a plethora of designer jeans abound. If you're a fan of Joe's jeans then you're in luck. I always find several fits and styles, in a variety of sizes! Oh and don't get me started on their shoe selection. I LOVE their Tom's selection! Please tell me that this new store layout is just to accommodate social distancing guidelines. Also, I'm not sure if some brands are just harder to stock now, but the inventory was just sad. Nordstrom Rack is in Bakersfield everybody!!! Woohoo! From the moment I heard, I wasn't sure if I was happy about it or sad. You see, I'm an avid Rack shopper. Normally, I shop at the one in Woodland Hills off of Topanga Blvd (my favorite one anywhere!!) or the one in Oxnard off of Esplanade Dr but I've been to many Racks across the state. I even scored a pair of Louboutins for a penny once!!!!! I swear!! Anyway, back to my review... I love the Rack and I had high expectations for this store. I was a little sad it was coming because now everyone now has access to my shopping secret lol but I'm so excited it's now just down the street!! I've been a few times now and the first couple of times I was a little upset because the clothing selection wasn't what I was used to. Then again, everybody and their moms were shopping the first few weeks checking it out so that made sense. More recently, I have found more things than I could carry!! I love the brands they provide and the deals they offer! Have you checked out their shoe selection?!?! I mean, come on! Tory Burch, Coach, BCBG, Steve Madden, Report... I could go on and on!! Best selection anywhere and at great prices too!! Even a special Designer section for the more high-end stuff! Awesome!! I got to experience Nordstrom Rack before it even opened! The private shopping party that was held two days before the grand opening was amazing! It was very, very crowded but everything was very efficient. There were many mobile check out spots to make everything flow well. After sipping on some complimentary wine, my co-worker and I got to shopping. The variety of price points and labels is extraordinary as is the layout of the store. I hope it remains that way for a while. When you walk in, the men's section is to the left as are the hand bags and dressing rooms. The shoes are all the way in the back. As you walk in to your right, there is a small Home section along with cosmetics, perfumes, and sunglasses and the cash registers. The women's clothing section covers the whole middle of the store and the jewelry is right in front of it. I found SO MANY things I wanted but I limited myself to four and got a cute reusable bag at checkout. Daniel checked us out quickly and was very friendly. In fact, I had quite a few associates ask me if I needed help and I even had someone help me put the things I was carrying into a bag. Now that is service! U got my store credit card from Nordstrom rack at Bakersfield river walk store and registered my account. They give me $200 in alteration which is basically useless. I was never able to use it. Anytime I needed alteration they made an excuse. Finally they admitted that they do not accept alteration bonus in my account (of course for the clothes I buy from same store) and I have to pay double the price of dress for a basic alteration. Well! Just going in to 'look' mid-day found me coming out with a couple of big bags! LOVE THIS PLACE! It was busy but it just made it all that much more fun. I think I was just in a shopping mood! The fitting room line was too long today so I skipped clothes shopping. You will find clothes, fancy ties for men, work out gear, luggage, purses, fun socks, a few home items, make up, bath stuff - the list goes on. The deals are incredible! I finally found a place in Bako now that sells Havianas! Super pumped about that. Bought 3 pair before they run out of my size! 2 full racks of them just for women! They had the cutest shoes overall organized by size and super nice dresses. I got my husband some Hugo Boss cologne for half off reg. price. You may not find every single thing brand wise that you are looking for but if you go in with an open mind to browse, almost guaranteed you will come out with something! All items are on the higher end of the scale. One of the best things is to seek out a staff member with a green t-shirt and they can check you out at a pop up cash they have all over the store! No more long lines! They can print u a receipt, e-mail it or both. 90 day return policy. Hooray another new store in town! This town is starting to become more hip with the introduction of some main stream names. :) Came inside to check out what the new store would be like and it's pretty cool; just like any other Nordstrom Rack in SoCal...but new and well lit. Today I went shopping at the Rack and was extremely difficult at the checkout process. There were 13 people in line and two checkout people. Things were humming along fine, but then a phone call was answered by one of the checkout people. She took the call which was someone asking about a product in the store's availability. Instead of calling another employee to look, she left her station and went off for about 7 minutes (I counted) to look for it. To me, the customers in line take precedence over someone on the phone who may not have even bothered to come to the store. Why make us wait when she could have given the person a call back or called for help? It put extra pressure on the remaining checkout person, and made an entire line feel surly. Aside from that, I feel their home products area is way too small...surely they could have more home products available. Tons of makeup that appears to have been opened is present, but limited housewares. Tons of shoes but if you wear an odd size, forget it. read more

Maybe he shouldn't get so close to people and I took it off for a quick second to take a sip of my drink, He was so aggressive. The store looks like garbage with all the racks in rows. I went to The Rack in Bakersfield today to buy some shirts and shorts for summer. In the past, this store has had clothing racks separated by brand. Today, I found that they are taking the Ross approach and throwing everything together. I didn't have an hour to search for my size in the particular brand that I wanted (a brand the The Rack has been carrying for several years). I didn't find what I was looking for, and I had hard time actually finding shorts in my size. I felt like I was at Goodwill or Ross, if I wanted to shop like that, I would go to one of those stores. I spoke with 2 different employees about this and they told me that management was trying to compete with Ross stores. I hope someone from The Rack management sees this post, as I will not be shopping there anymore as long as they have the Ross style presentation. read more

Bad customer service!! I came to this store looking to find a nice pair of Birkenstocks. I went to the shoe department and I looked around to see if there was someone that can help me find my size. I didn't see not one employee in the shoe department, so I went up to the cashier and ask her if someone can help me in the shoe department and she looked at me and told me that she couldn't t do anything because she was helping a customer. I was left standing there so I left and decided not to buy anything. The customer service experience I got was horrible and the vibe of the employees aren't welcoming.
