Personally, I remember when this Target location first opened in my youth. This store mirrors the local Walmart's in service. I was in here today around one and there were HUNDREDS of customers. When it was time to check out there was only two stations open. Could not do self check as we had alcohol. What with all the bad publicity and boycots you would think they might try to please customers with a quick check out. Selection and Value?? Came in and was checking out the clearance section. There was an entire end cap full of nothing but outdoor patio pillows and a large sign up top that said 90% off. That was a lie. I recently moved to this side of town and this Target is the closest to my new place. I put in a mobile order that took no time to complete however, even though I put in the app 20 minutes before I arrived to the store that I was on my way I still have not received my items. I've been waiting for 15 minutes and counting. This is completely ridiculous and drive up here needs to be better managed and take tips from the Target on Rosedale. I will be traveling to the Rosedale location from now on. read more

When I'm in Bakersfield, this Target is my home store. The location is perfect for grabbing snacks and drinks to enjoy at the adjacent River Walk Park. My personal favorite feature of this Target might sound kind of basic, but I really appreciated the water bottle refilling station. I also appreciated the fact that no one stopped me from walking in, refilling my water bottle, and walking right back out like 14 times over a one week period. Next to the restrooms and water bottle filling station was a Target Snack Bar concept that I haven't seen anywhere else. It's basically like a Target convenience store within a store, with its own self-checkout area. The snacks were very well-selected, and included things like small bags of Kettle Chips and Popcornopolis, as well as my favorite Alani Nu energy drinks. The main store is bigger than my home store, and seemed pretty clean. The only purchase I remember making from the main store was a box of Made Good granola bars. The only amenity missing from this store that I would like to see is a cell phone charging station, like the ones they have in San Francisco. Overall a solid store and I'm sure I'll be back again someday. read more

I usually only get pick-up orders, which are usually good, except for the excessive number of bags! But the other day I went into the store, you know just to like browse things and shop. I wanted to just have a fun Target run. The place is a legit mess, even to the point that it could injure someone. Why there isles full of shoes blocking the way? Just random clothes everywhere and things all a disarray? This is a fire hazard. Also the floor is so dirty! Right when you walk in it just feels so gross. Like, ummmmm, is this K-Mart? You don't even want to shop, you just search the shelves for things like it's a thrift shop, hoping you can get what you came for. I don't want to browse, because the vibe sucks. The staff should at least pretend to care that the lines are long, especially the manager. I was excited to go in and browse and buy things and have fun at Target, but fail... it's a disgusting mess, so just get what you need and leave stat! read more

Man in the parking lot on his phone nearly causes several accidents. I tell him to be more careful and he walks up to me and starts trying to press me. I hold my ground, and stop interacting with him when we go inside. I ask guest service to reprint a receipt (something I know is very possible after working there in AP for nearly 2 years) and she tells me it isn't possible. I ask to speak with AP because I know they can help. The APETL comes out and immediately begins being aggressive when I've been nothing but respectful to staff. He begins with "so you've worked in AP? So you know it's not a good idea to start fights in the parking lot then?" Despite the man approaching me and not walking away when I had asked him to. He then goes off to "see what he can do" in which case he leaves his undercover to babysit me for whatever reason. He did nothing to actually help, but instead called the police despite never asking me once to leave the store. He then trespasses me for "trying to press him in his store" when I made a comment because the man he told to stare at me started laughing when I was mid conversation (all I asked him is if I was being disrespectful to staff, in which he responded with "I'm not even laughing at you, mind your own damn business"). After working in this field for nearly 2 years this is an extremely unprofessional way to treat a guest that did absolutely nothing to your staff, and defending a guest that themselves started problems. read more

In the age of contactless, I have to say I'm so happy with how this location has adapted. I do drive up mostly here, but have gone inside occasionally. I love that their drive up is just "within 2 hours." You don't have to schedule it so it's great for last minute gifts and food items! They recently re-did the inside, so there is a huge food area right at the front. Other than that, I haven't been inside since the big remodel. Parking is OBNOXIOUS, but what can you expect? Park far and walk. 10/10 will return! read more

I just want to add how grateful I am for target pickup. I'm guilty of roaming the home decor isles. The kids clothes. Even the small appliance aisles. No trip was ever below a $150ish price tag from buying stuff I "didn't know I needed" and, frequenting this store maybe once a week, it gets expensive fast. lol Enter: target pickup. Use the app, only add to cart what you know you need, apply all discounts available, park in a designated pickup area, and your stuff is brought to you in a timely manner, with no extra "needed" items added! :D Ok, so maybe I have only replaced about 80% of my target trips with pickup trips bc sometimes, you just need the time away from home, roaming and discovering new needs with a Starbucks in hand lol but having the pickup option it's still super convenient and I use it quite frequently. read more

Alrighty then! Was just told to my face that I, apparently a "fool," "was pale as f#$%" by some Hispanic gentleman when I was walking in for a quick buy after 8pm tonight. As a veteran with an endocrine system disorder from a service connected injury that creates a slightly vampiric pallor, that makes me feel swell. I am a day sleeper and also Caucasian. I know you don't tend to see many of us around West Bakersfield anymore so it may come as a shock when you encounter one of us in the wild, but I assure you we are still here! Of course 20-years ago when I was running around with my head peeking out of a Bradley IFV, I ran a little darker! Target shopping in 2023! Nothing to get too butthurt over, the man was obviously just a loud, obnoxious asshole but I think I've just about had it with this location. If you could remove all the people that were there to just hang out it'd probably be a great place to shop again. It seems that it's only gone downhill in the last few years. Not even Target stores in East and Central Bakersfield are this crowded so I'm not sure why this is suddenly the new designated hangout. Just be hitting up actual grocery stores from here on out as most on this side of town are empty these days. I'm sure anything that can't be had there can easily be found on Amazon. read more

I was a customer of this Target for about 10 years. I was generally happy with their service before, but had a very unpleasant experience today (Monday, March 25) because an employee forced me to use a cashier line to check out when I was walking to the self-checkout area. This happened between 3:50pm and 4:20pm today (Monday, March 25) at Lane 4. When I was walking to the self-checkout area, the cashier (a Caucasian woman in her 50's) at Lane 4 called me from far away and asked me to check out in her Lane "because it is open". I thought she might have a good intention, so I walked to that lane. When I saw the lane number (which I did not see earlier), I told her that "For Asian people, we often did not feel comfortable with the number 4, so I would rather use the self-checkout as I was planning to". She ignored what I said, and directed me to Lane 6 instead. The cashier at Lane 6 was helping another customer, and I had to wait for a few minutes after loading my groceries to the belt. I have been using self-checkout in all grocery stores since the pandemic started, mainly because it would reduce the chance of virus spreading. For this Target, my preference of self-checkout was also due to 1) sometimes, the prices in the checkout system did not match with shelf prices (with self-checkout, mismatches in prices could be easily identified); 2) I used reusable bags, and some cashiers did not know how to apply reusable bag discount. The behaviors of the cashier at Lane 4 were inappropriate and disrespectful. She needs to receive training on respecting customers' preferences and decisions, trusting customers, and understanding the cultures of Asian customers, before she is allowed to serve as a cashier again. I will pay close attention to her behaviors in future, and will report officially if I find any discriminatory or inappropriate behavior from her again. read more

Another successful Target trip! I went with my mom to go look at something for my sister. Instead, we left with an early birthday present for me: the family edition of Cards Against Humanity :) while we were checking out, a pack of Pokemon cards caught my eyes behind the register adjacent from the one we were at. I felt like it was meant to be! Targets all over the nation haven't been selling Pokémon since May 14th so it must've been the very last pack in the whole store! My most favorite go to store ever. It's less than 5 minutes from me and that is very dangerous. I'll have the app and do a lot of pick up in store orders, which are ready within hours! More than half of my home decor is from here. This includes furniture pieces, rugs, dishes, mats, curtains! Most of my clothes is bought here, some shoes, and plenty of gifts are gifted from this location. There's just so much stuff. This is also a very honest based customer and staff store. One time I accidentally left my $20 cash back I had gotten from the self serve register. Well I called once I noticed and they had it up in customer service. Amazing! Today I shall be adding optical to the list, but I'll be sure to review that separately! If you don't love target, we can't be friends. :) read more

They seem to always have a some sort of deal example you buy 3 of something then you get a gift card, so why not stock up. Their prices are sometimes questionable because they use to be lower prices but not anymore. Cashiers are always nice, today it seem like the cashier was getting trained so they are hiring. Last Friday, I ran into the preeminent and greatly missed front end manager of this store at a local Marketplace. She has been off of work, but assured me she is returning in less than two weeks time! I visited the store and told several team members of my conversation with their much-revered leader. I also met a phenomenal and fairly new management team member named Brandon. He comes to our town by way of Miami, bringing a fresh and metropolitan polish to his superior style of customer service. I spoke with Brandon about Maryanne, and of our decades long friendship. That foundation hails way back to the Wible road store, where Bryant Smith managed an elite team of passionate, invested and dedicated associates...many of whom are now in management positions themselves with Target. That store, the time and place, and the people working tirelessly behind the scenes stood out as uniquely special, especially in Retail. It was pure magic. Brandon told me that he has not met Maryanne, but her exemplary reputation far precedes her. I seconded that sentiment, adding one of my own. Maryanne's floor, is most people's ceiling. She motivates by example. Truly a great asset to the Target corporation. I have met and come to know the next generation of the super team representing my beloved Target. Each one is appreciated beyond measure. I'm continually humbled by their patience, and kindness. I'm forever inspired by their vibrant energy and hopeful perspective. This Target is like most Targets. It is clean and very well kept like most department stores. The employees are somewhat helpful when needed. On this visit out was a home decor/snacks/back to school products type of day. They have a great selection of products and it isn't as cluttered as Wal-Mart. We will always shop at Target so this location is one off our choices. This location is also in a newer and nicer location with a lot of upcoming restaurants and shops. read more

So.....my son picks out a toy and upon checking out the toy won't ring up so a worker comes over and says "oh those toys aren't ringing up and I had to take a toy away from a child earlier too" which confused me further? So.....you are saying you knew there was this issue but instead of having a worker remove said toy from shelves so the same issue didn't happen again (to us a couple hours later) you rather take toys away from little kids and make them cry?! Of course I asked for a manager (Corina was her name) and she was completely rude and unapologetic. I have always loved this target and preferred it. Unfortunately I can at around 8pm because I was in desperate need of a baby monitor because mine was not working. I went to the right section pressed the button and waited. Waited 5 minutes and pressed it again. Waiting another 5 min and pressed it a third time. Finally someone came. I told them which y I wanted and they said they don't have a key and they will find someone. I waited 15 min, no one came. I pressed the button again, waited no one came. Finally after 30 minutes after the last encounter and an hour and a half of waiting in target I grabbed the first monitor that didn't need to be unlocked. Very annoying and frustrating. And a waste of money because the one I wanted was cheaper. read more

It seems so dangerous to a store these days to have so few employees that no one can check out the customers. Today at 11 am, there were approximately 30 people waiting for three checkers, so as much as I hate to, I stood in the self checkout, which had about 12 people waiting. So many people looking for jobs... Target runs these promotions where, say, you spend $15 on toothpaste/toothbrushes and they'll give you a $5 Target card. I like to order on the app for pickup, and they're supposed to email me the card. I never get the card ever. Then I have to call someone, and who wants to do that? Tonight I was in a chat with someone who kept telling me to wait a little longer while she processed it, and next thing you know, some other agent introduced herself and asked how she could help me.
