Michaels has just about everything you need for everything artsy, crafty, celebration, school project, seasonal, picture frames. While it's sometimes hard to find anybody in the aisles to help you, if you go up to the front, they will surely stop what they are doing and help you. If you go to the picture framing, I have found them to be incredibly helpful. Most of the times the prices are reasonable and at least equivalent to most other craft and school supply store. I had such a bad experience from the rude employee that was at checkout around 3pm. She was nice for two seconds when she asked me to input my phone number for rewards. Of course out of all the photo frames I grab, mine didn't have a barcode. While waiting for a price check, I found it online for a discounted price and when I showed it to her she cuts me off at says "That's online we won't honor the price". I ask if a manager would honor it and she interrupted me again saying "Do you want this or not". Just make an in-store pick up so you don't have to deal with their crappy, rude employees. read more

Any time we are in the mood to craft, we head to Michael's. It's great to have a go to place. I've been going to Michael since it first opened in Bakersfield. I bought a lot of puffy paint there in the 90's. A lot has changed over the years and there are things they used to carry that are no longer available, not even online. Michael's is well stocked with craft supplies in all shapes and sizes sure to please even the most finicky crafter. I'm not particularly crafty, but I AM a kindergarten teacher so I often find myself visiting Michael's for supplies for special projects at school and I am never disappointed. This particular store feels smaller than others I have been in, but that could just be an illusion caused by the fact they seem to have crammed things in every nook and cranny available. No, the merchandise is not as beautifully displayed as it is at Hobby Lobby, but it is here, it isn't hard to find, and the prices are reasonable. Try to overlook its cosmetic issues and you'll find a good solid supply of quality products at surprisingly reasonable prices. Michael's is also known for its custom framing. Just bring in any picture, poster, or painting you wish to have framed and they will help you pick out the perfect frames and mats to complement it. How could you go wrong? Michael's offers a variety of crafting classes for people of all ages, but I have not yet tried one out. Maybe that will be a project for next summer? I downloaded the Michael's app onto my phone so I always have my coupons with me. They usually have a coupon for 40% off of a single item per visit, which will help stretch your crafting dollar as far as it can go. I normally love this store but after today, I'll never go back. I had to return quite a few items and asked for store credit because I needed to swap them for different colors or styles. The lady who rang me up did absolutely nothing but huff, puff, and sigh the entire time, because she was irritated I had multiple receipts. I was tired of listening to her sighs, I even asked if she wanted help sorting the items out, and she said no. By the time I was done, she rudely threw my DL onto the counter towards me and then aggressively gave me my final Merch Card and receipt. I was planning on shopping but after that all I could say was "sorry for ruining your morning" and I left. I have never been treated so poorly in that store and will never shop this location again. read more

Michaels is Donna's go to yarn store. They have a wide array of yarn at reasonable prices. Donna crochets for the Linus club whose members make knitted and crocheted baby blankets and then donate them to local hospitals for newborns. I went on saturday to pick a curbside order that they now offer to find the young lady that brought my bag out to not even give any eye contact just toss my bag into my trunk I literally heard my stuff fall in the trunk and she turned around and walked inside I forgot my mask at home I had to get off and close my trunk. I came in the other night 3 minutes before closing time, literally. Nobody harassed me while I browsed around, and now that I think about nobody greeted me either. I don't care. The place was clean and organized and I saw a few employees helping other customers out. Just left and I purchased a paper pad that was from the 70%off section and a Apothecary jar with 50% off coupon, as I was checking out at the register the gal proceeds to tell me that the paper pad is not on sale it's regular price after asking her lead she says the only way she can honor it if there's more on the 70% off shelf and there was or why would I have gotten it from that shelf ! And the lead was hesitant on honoring it but after the gal that was helping me told her she checked and there was more and she would move it after she honored it for me and the lead said nothing so need less to say if it wasn't for the gal I wouldn't have gotten it even though it was not my fault! I love these stores they have so much stuff your creative side comes out and and Pinterest ideas come to life. This store has been here for so long that everyone knows this one store, parking is tight but a walk won't hurt no one. The store is very clean and well takin care of, they did a renovate the store a few years back and it looks good. It used to be thee spot, but ever since Hobby Lobby came to town I noticed it isn't as much anymore. I came to take a knitting class here. It cost $25 for one class, I really don't feel the class is worth $25. 2 and a half hours is nothing when it comes to knitting, because it takes a long time to get it and then practice and try and complete a project. You definitely won't complete your project in class. The class was from 1-3:30,they also have a night class available, plus other craft classes. I just happened to be the only one signed up for the class that day. It was good for me cause I got one on one attention. I use to knit years ago but I had forgotten how, so in the time that I was there I learned to cast on, do two types of stitches, read some of the diagrams to the knitting instructions, and how to use more than one color in one project. If you are a beginner you may catch on but trust that you will need to keep it up to remember how when you're at home without the teacher. The teacher Janice was very nice and willing to help extra if you needed more but Michael's won't allow her to, you either have to pay for another class or this quick reminder/help type class which is $5;that part wasn't bad. The class really should be at least 2 days for the $25. read more

Purchased a waterballoon toy for my son which he did not even USE. Obviously we opened up the package and again the item was NEVER used. Go in to return the item, manager looks at the packaging and says" no ones gonna wanna buy this, this is open" UM no SHIT! Are you gonna put this item back on the shelve?? NO u send it back to damaged merch. Told him i have over 10 years of retail experience and i know how this stuff works. Its not money coming out of your pocket! I always come to this store and get great customer service. They are nicer about coupons and always tell me other great ways to gain more. They are good at calling for other cashiers too. I've been to Hobby Lobby and yes it's a very beautiful store but the service is by far the same. They are rude about coupons & only have one. I had a horrible experience with this store. Went in there to just look around and look for cute things to buy. Came out mad. If you take your time and look around they follow you, put the cameras on you and have 3 people up front seeing what goes on the counter your paying for and ready to pounce on you certain you've stolen their merchandise. I won't go back to this store its disorganized and a total mess. Instead of following people around they need to clean it up. Other craft stores around that are cleaner and better read more

I gave it only one star. Because every time I go to this store I come out stress and mad and is the store near my place. But it is a disgraceful the way they treat a frequent customer there, especially if your Hispanic . I take my time to choose my yarn because I do tons of knitting that I sell and I hate the way the staff looks over your shoulder, I felt harassed they had like 4 employees watch over me like if I was going to take something so I got the yarn I had and left with out looking for more ,the cashier was more interested in talking with another lady on the side for a long time than to take her time to greet me or give me the proper time to register my things . This is not the first time I get a bad experience ,once I return some yarn because it was not the kind I needed and I was going to find the right one but when I asked the cashier for customer service she called another employe from the back to come and assist me , the other employe came and said oh is just a return and told me to get in line I did and as soon as I did she opened a second register and made me wait at the very end. usually stores have a special register for customer service because it takes less time . They are not friendly and employees need a urgent change of attitude with clients, because with our business they make there pay checks . If they are not happy with there job they should consider a change and leave the job for a person who is willing to give a good customer service. I am a regular customer at michaels in Los Angeles, but I live here now and I expect the same quality service. read more

I love shopping at Michael's for all my kids projects and crafts. However the manager here an older "white male" seems to be prejudice. Every time I come in he follows me around and stares at me the whole time. He makes me feel very UNCOMFORTABLE! I Feel he stereotypes me because I am a Hispanic woman. There have been times when I am in line looking at my cart to make sure I have everything and I look up and there he is. Just staring! I have even heard the cashier in the front registers speak to someone from her head set and describe the people walking in, during the time her description was just on Hispanics and blacks. Never once did she give a description of white people that walked in. The cashier and Mgr are prejudice. The mentality that they have is absurd, and needs to stop. I definitely won't be shopping here anymore, I'd rather go Joanns they have a friendlier environment. Besides who likes getting stalked while they shop. Not me. read more

I give this Michael's two stars for the two things it had going for it. They had some great clearance/sale prices for kids stuff (crafts) and the cashier was fabulously friendly, made conversation, and was quite helpful. Other than that it was a terrible experience. It actually put me in a bad mood. It was a MESS. Almost every other aisle I went down was littered with merchandise, empty or abandoned filled carts, or huge metal ladders. It was very difficult to navigate and get around because of the mess. I didn't get to see some aisles because of the huge metal rolling ladders left in the middle of them. Then there was the person working in the framing department. They went on and on about how they are so busy because they do interior design on the side and wedding plan and it's bride season, blah blah blah. Like I said, the deals were good and the cashier was sweet, but I don't know that I'll be visiting this Michaels again. read more

I never have used Michaels to frame any of my art, but on this occasion I was in a hurry so I gave them a try and was pleasantly surprised with the service tech at the framing department (I don't really know his job title). I initially choose a frame and matting, however the framer Justin slowly began demonstrating other framing options that made the piece of art "pop." He has a very special eye for elegance. I hate going here. BUT they always have what I'm looking for so it's never a trip wasted. Only reason why I'm writing a review is bc today I got ripped off. I'm not one to really check out my receipt but today I thought I did some really good savings like the TLC show Extreme Couponing and this is when I noticed I was charged TWICE for two items! So I go back into the store and told the same cashier she charged me twice. No apologies whatsoever. Received my money and only get what's refunded if I had returned it instead of the price I was charged. Even though it's only a few dollars I was still pretty pissed bc it wasn't even my fault. I could've argued but I had better things to do. I just know which cashier not to go to next time. So don't forget to check your receipts!!! read more
