Thought I'd drop by Hobby lobby I'm looking for some stencils. Hoping we might have them here locally instead of having to order some and wait. I need them right away. I forgot how big this store is, Memorial Day and Fourth of July supplies and declarations are out in abundance. My wife was with me so I knew this short stop in was gonna take a little longer and I was right. I wasn't able to find the stencils that I was looking for it, we made it through the store, looking at all the different departments. We got some good ideas for future projects. Lots of employees were working stocking different areas. Most all were helpful. I found some foam brushes that I use at a great price. I bought two packs from Lucy at the checkout she was super friendly with a great smile and personality. Hobby lobby was a great experience with the American flags, red white and blue decorations, and 4th of July displays I was even more patriotic and proud to be American when I left. Manager Erick was so incredibly helpful and kind! Helped me solve a complain I had and was very understanding.

At Hobby Lobby on 11-21 20-25. Lots of helpful employees answering questions as we were looking for items. Got in line to check out.. the wait wasn't bad. But as it was my and my friends turn to check out, a Senior Assistant Manager walked up to the register and had the clerk leave. She proceeded to close out the register, change out the money, never made eye contact with us, never apologized and said it'll just be a minute just went about her business. I tried to engage her in conversation, but she had none of it. For a senior assistant manager, that is really bad customer service. Then the young lady who came up to begin to work the register, we got the same non-Service. No eye contact no smile no, this will just take me a minute. I'm so sorry. It really was disappointing and they need to do better. read more

The only thing I don't like is the guy they allow outside to get signatures. He's forceful and when you say no he says little comments that are trying to make you feel bad for not signing. I shouldn't have to go in and out of a different door at a store to avoid being harassed. read more

There should be more than 3 registers open on a Saturday when the lines are all the way to the middle of the store. Have a returns ONLY line, then pull people from the lines when you have no customers returning. The front end manager, with her clip board, should open a register herself and help her employees get the lines moving! Remove all the broken items from your shelves! read more

Hobby Lobby is a good place to stop if you are needing craft supplies, but be cautious when you are shopping for holiday or home decor items! They will have two of the EXACT same item on the shelf with different prices! Make sure you check all the tags to ensure you are getting the lowest priced item on the shelf. The check out process is super slow because they hand enter all the tags into the system, so the lines are usually pretty ridiculous. While you wait in line, go on their website because they usually have a pretty good coupon on there (like 40% off any one item) and the staff tend to apply to the highest priced item - at least in my experience here. Also, don't expect to come here looking for Halloween items because they don't do that here lol read more

UPDATE to prior review: Horrible co...3rd time I received defective items... I UPDATED to 3 star: after I filed complaint thru BBB stating if i don't get refunded for ship portion of damaged goods, then all my business will be thru Michaels, so they can either refund me the under $5 cost for the ship portion or lose all the $$ they have been making off me every year on every holiday....so I now got refunded today. From now on, if I am ever able to actually go to one of their stores, (difficult since i have no transportation and can only go if i hitch a ride with someone), that I will only shop there if I can actually SEE what i am buying...pretty much done with shopping online thru them because it just isn't worth the hassle!). -----------prior 1 star review below----------- 3rd time I received defective items when ordering online, and every time there has been an issue jumping thru hoops until finally got refunded, but every time they would short you a penny!? what's that about? This time bought 3 old fashioned print xmas wood decor blocks only to have them arrive smelling toxic/like was doused in turpentine. I contacted them telling them I needed a refund and gave them price, but also that they needed to refund a portion of the ship charge because the remaining 2 items i ordered were just cheap add ons that came to only $4.36 (that's with the tax), so them charging me $7.95 for an order where the bulk of it was damaged, is totally unfair....since i never would have ordered the the other 2 items (small rubber stamp and a sheet of stickers) and pay almost twice their cost to ship!...that's insane! Yet not only didn't they refund me any of the ship charge, totally ignored that part of my email....just sent email saying to toss defective items and their refund (again) was a penny short and no ship charge refunded. I have shopped online every holiday, NO MORE! Even my husband says enough is enough (prior order was for a large folding shelf unit that arrived in a box taped up with cardboard pcs added on...like someone else had opened it already, and inside every shelf was either cracked or falling off, and all the screws that were supposed to hold the shelves on fell out of the box...why you would even ship out such JUNK is beyond me!). After that fiasco i THOUGHT i would be safe just ordering small decor items....well after getting this toxic smelling 'made in china' garbage, which I paid shipping on that I'm not getting back, I am SO DONE with this co....who BTW isn't really Christian anymore, since the owner/founder SOLD it...he's only on the board now, but retired, so not even running the co. anymore...which explains the HORRIBLE RATINGS Hobby Lobby now gets online on every Review you can find on them! AVOID at all costs, and like others said, shop at Michaels, because even online, if you get damaged goods, PHONE them and they IMMEDIATELY refund you (back to your cr cd....not a 'gift card' like hobby lobby does, where you're forced to have to spend your money back to their store!), and they send you a prepaid return label, and if item is too heavy to drop off at USPS or UPS etc., they will schedule a pickup for you, or if damaged, they usually tell you to just dispose of item. This five star review is for the Framing department. (Customer service at this location is very lacking, especially the check out counters.). I went to Hobby Lobby last week to get some frames that were on sale. I had a question and noticed that Brandon was helping an elderly lady who had a ton of questions. I didn't mind waiting and noted that Brandon was very patient with this customer, he treated her really kindly, and he had a lot of patience. Brandon was treating this customer like she was his grandmother! This is great to see, you don't often see the younger generation in the service industry have tons of patience and concern for the older generations. Hobby Lobby must be proud to have an employee like Brandon who has great customer service skills! Brandon helped me with a few questions I had about frames, how to hang them and what the best background / border would be. I will be coming back to get some custom framing done. This is only the second time that I've been here and trust me, I don't steal. I have my own business 32 yrs., I'm 50 years old and I make all the money I need. Normally I would purchase my own keychain but I wanted to make my own so I bought the items on register #1 with an older woman with white hair. I expected it to come to about $70 but it came to $38- and I left. (4th sale) This is where three employees come running out to the parking lot after me while I was trying to get into my vehicle. They were yelling at me and accusing me of stealing but I was so confused because I have a bag from the store with the receipt that they can clearly see in my hand. I threw the receipt at the closest one yelling at me. My fiancé got out of his car to see what happened. They stood there about 5 minutes yelling at both of us. I have the Audio recorded because I had my phone in my hand and I was accidentally pushing voice note, luckily. My fiancé also bought stuff so I am posting both receipts. The only thing I can think of is that they were profiling me because I am about 80% tattooed and my boyfriend is about 30% tattooed. We are NOT BUMS or junkies I know that area has a issue with both of those types... so they should be appreciative when legit people shop here. but what I'm tripping out on is that if I wasn't a 5ft tall woman... would they have tried to chase me down? LOVE this store so much, so many treasures. Always find great deals when we shop. Today, just so happened what we were looking for was 40% off. My favorites are the wall decor, clocks and crafts for my son. I always find furniture that I want but don't have room for. When we have stopped an employee for assistance they are very helpful, although not very many employees on the floor. I would download the app if you don't have it, 40% off highest item. Today the discount helped on our Man Cave sign. Store is always pretty organized and clean. We have forgotten before and showed up on a Sunday, they are closed. I always forget that you can order things online and usually it's free shipping over 50$ I guess if I had to complain about something, open more registers! Customer service can greatly be improved. Left my items at the counter after waiting nearly half an hour for two lines to clear up. I was told by the cashier to move over to the other line. Other line also had issues waited another 20 minutes there and the line I had just moved from finally cleared. Cashier never once acknowledged me after. She continued to ring up four people that had been in line after me. Manager or supervisor was up at front and never once asked any other employee to open a third lane despite the huge lines- nor did she offer an apology or an acknowledgment that regarding the long wait time. Even when I directly tried to make eye contact and speak with staff stating I would be leaving my one single item. No one said anything. Worse customer experience I have ever had. Even if it isn't a huge sale- a customer should always be acknowledged. Regardless of if it is to say "we will be right with you," or "we're working on the issue" and apologize for the wait. My brother did about 3-4 four laps waiting for me to check out. Someone needs serious help on how to address customers and fix their cashier and wait times this isn't Walmart. read more

He showed me all different ways and styles and explained everything to me so I understand. SLOWEST. CHECKOUT. EVER. There is no convenience when shopping here. Waiting in line takes forever and the checkout process takes forever.

I love everything about Hobby Lobby which is why I have to be very focused when I'm in the store. The store is very neat, clean, and organized. This makes it so easy to find what you're looking for. The items are arranged very well and in such a way that it inspires the least crafty or home decor person to attempt to be creative. From ribbons to tables they have it all. They also have inspirational books available near the cash registers. The holiday section is always up a season early lol which can derail you. So many ideas! The staff is usually nice. I did run into a crabby patty in the fabric section. They play great music (which is Christian music) and they are closed on Sunday. read more

I'm updating my Hobby Lobby review to 4 stars since I've found the place to be a treasure trove of stuff. Hobby Lobby can be quite overwhelming. Case in point was my recent visit to find yarn for a project that I was commissioning my boyfriends mom to complete. She said to go "pick out some yarn"... little did I know the selection would be vast. The colors. The textures. The sizes. The materials. *cue anxiety* I ended up picking out a few, uncertain if any would work. My one gripe were the four employees I crossed path with - not one reached out to me to ask if I needed help. In fact, one mumbled "damn kids..." under her breath as she restocked the shelves. The 40% coupon that frequents the newspapers and website are valuable if you plan your visits. You'll need to go frequently because these coupons are typically only good on one item. Great if you're there daily, not good if you make one big shopping trip. read more

tonight I had a horrible experience with Hobby Lonby staff . my mother who is 80 yrs old myself and my older brother were in the store looking for Xmas decor .. when I walked around the floral area a Hispanic employee spoke in spanish and told her manager the woman with her mom.. at first I didn't think anything of it but I quickly realized i was the lady she was referring too. the manager who I later learned is "Ceaser" was pacing back in forth where we were my brother and mom they were looking at candles when he walked past that aisle and lean in to look what they were doing he then kept pacing back and forth . see the woman in floral could of been referring to any lady with her mom but if that wa a the case the manager wouldn't of been pacing around us. I was very upset and offended that we were profiled because of who we were Mexicans and what we were wearing black jackets . This place is huge! It reminded me of a cross between Micheal's for crafts, Winners for home goods and a Target for toys and goodies. I found a book insert that I was looking for and unexpectedly, several cool bandanas for my pup! Staff literally dropped what they were doing to help me find something even though I said I was OK and had the time to browse! This store is all decked out for X-mas and really had everything from X-mas home decor, kitchen items, trees, holiday cards, unique decorations and the list goes on and on! I am not a crafty person per se but I can see myself coming here often enough just for the fun of it all. I love Hobby Lobby so much that i've been coming in every week for the last few months. i've spent damn near thousands at hobby lobby. Never had a problem until today, an employee followed me throughout the store every single aisle even in a completely different area in the store and made it very obvious he was watching me. He went as far as standing inches away from me looking at what i'm doing while i'm knelt down looking at something just to look up and have his crotch in my face. He did it so much that I took a couple of videos of him doing it because I felt uncomfortable. Why would I steal from a store I come into every week, why are you letting associates harass paying customers. if you truly think i'm stealing call the police and let them handle it. A large, clean and well organized store that has all type of items at discount prices. So much space inside it's almost like a warehouse as this lot use to be a huge department store. It has a tasteful layout where the items are not scattered and messy all over the place like many discount stores tend to be or end up during open hours. More like Costco without the need to buy in bulk and more tone down. However, the staff who works here are not helpful whatsoever, at least not to me, when I ask if they where a certain type of items are located. Instead of help, she shrugged with an I don't know and walks away. Strange....I ask someone else and was told will find out for me and never came back to let me know which didn't surprise me as she seemed bothered when i ask for help. The patrons were more helpful and certainly more friendly. I end up with some nice items at good prices but at the cash register, the cashier seem to lack any awareness like a zombie which slow the line down consideably which is why it got as long as it did until another line was open. I know it was around Halloween but this was absurd. This kind of professionalism or lack thereof is on management for no employee training on customer service. I can only assume they don't care either as it tend to start from the top on down. 2.5 stars overall shopping experience since it's not fully based nor should it be on how much value or money one can save on items when providing a business rating like some reviewers may do. Located at a very large shopping center with a gym and eateries so there are plenty of parking space. I do see security personnel outside at night to provide safety as it can pitch dark in some areas. read more

Let me start off by saying I LOVE THIS STORE. I love the items and sales. This rating is based off of customer service only. Seems like I am not alone in my thoughts based on several other recent reviews. Maybe corporate needs to come in and have a customer service meeting?! There were too many employees standing around or walking around in pairs chit chatting and not enough helping. When I was checking out only one cash register was open to begin with, with a long line. Slowly management started to open more one at a time. When doing so they would take the end of the line instead of the next customer in line. I witnessed several customers get upset over this. Then at one point a younger couple RAN to a recently opened cash register to pass up an elderly lady who was told to move to that cash register and the employee let it all happen right in front of everyone. That was upsetting to see. I know the employees are not there to correct manners but they shouldn't have a blind eye either. This store has been based off of good ethics and morals and I wish to see the Bakersfield store to stick with that. Please. read more

Ohhhhh somebody messed up and showed me hobby lobby. This is my go to place now even if I don't want to draw anything I just like walking about the store and looking at everything I could decorate in my house. It's paradise for me, all the cutest thing are there, pictures with great saying, flamingos, pink, ohh Christmas trees even the Charlie Brown Christmas come on they sold me when I saw that. They all the crafty things you can think about. It's a Art lovers sanctuary lol. I could have bought everything pink there but I had self control, the check was easy and I was able to use one of their coupons I found online, 40% off one item it was perfect. The slowest check out in the history of stores. Idk if they intentionally understaff their store, if their system is so ridiculous it's impossible to spend less than 12 mins per customer on check out, or if people are hired specifically for their "measured" approach to scanning. All I know is that I wish my doctor spent as much time with me at my annual as I spend with the check out staff at this store. Thank goodness for Amazon. read more
