2nd time to Titusz and what a great experience, again! The menu had the standards of paprikas and the Langos but the duck and Kaspressknödel stole the show. If you are ever in Lawrenceville and want a wonderful dining experience, visit Titusz. Robert is wonderful in the front of house and will make sure that your experience is to expectation and Chef Thackray's use of ingredients make you feel like grandma was helping her in the kitchen while she puts a modern flair on each dish. The Hungarian and Austrian wine selection is amazing and they offer 2 full bars. The restaurant is a cozy, 2 floors with bar and table seating. Outstanding meal. First, the inside is eclectic with two bars -- one on each floor. We were seated a half hour early, and service was prompt, friendly, and awesome all night long! Drinks: I got the Kadarka. It is a dry red wine with a smooth finish. Sort of like a cab sauvignon but bolder. My wife got a white wine that was similar to a resiling. Food: We started with complimentary bread, and it was a fresh seeded rye bread. It was fantastic. We split the potato salad and the heirloom tomato salad. The potato salad was chilled with a zingy dressing. It was delicious! One of those you just keep going back for more. Tomatoes were fresh and on top of a delicious bed of shaved beets. It was summer on a plate, and the punch of flaky salt was the chef's kiss. For entrees, I ordered the catfish and my wife had the chicken paprikash. The catfish was outrageously delicious. It was in a vibrant tomato sauce that had a subtle heat on a bed of corn. My wife's chicken was fork-tender, and the sauce paired with the acidic cucumber garnish was the bite of the night! For dessert, we had the golden walnut dumplings. It was good. I was so excited for the brown butter but did not taste much at all. The dumplings were fantastic, however. Next time, we will get the chocolate torte. Speaking of next time, that will be sooner rather than later. We loved how we didn't walk out feeling disgustingly full. Portions were perfect, food was fresh and tasty, and the experience was awesome. We can't wait to come back, as Titusz is now in our top 3 restaurants in Pittsburgh! read more

Titusz is located in Lawrenceville in the old Merchant Oyster Co. The space is beautiful! The service was incredible. I wasn't sure what wine to order, but my server was very helpful with a suggestion - I loved it! Prices were reasonable too. We started with 2 appetizers - the fried potato bread and cheese dumplings. Both were great & I especially loved the broth that the dumplings came in. I had the stuffed cabbage and my friend had the chicken paprika. The stuffed cabbage was really good but the sauce was very, very tomato-y. My friend enjoyed his chicken & it looked delicious. Everything was good but each dish was almost missing something to make "it." But again, it was all good and I would definitely come back, especially for dessert! read more

Titusz is a great new Eastern European dinner spot in lawrenceville. It offers classic comforts like stuffed cabbage but also creative menu items like ramp soup. We loved our visit here and enjoyed how special they made it. We came for an anniversary and they served us a complimentary glass of champagne and nonalcoholic sparkling juice for myself since they knew I wasn't drinking. I thought that was very special and thoughtful. We thought the bartender was knowledgeable, friendly and very kind! We loved having her as our bartender and server. The vibe of the restaurant is very warm, moody and relaxing. It was a great date spot and place to unwind with close friends. Our only downside was the pricing. We thought it was a bit on the expensive side, but given the area of town and costs it makes sense. We will definitely visit again and recommend to our friends! read more

We had a lovely late dinner here. Service was really great, some of the best we've ever had. The menu is small but has a decent variety. Prices are reasonable for the high quality and care taken in cooking. Appetizers are pretty small but everything we tried was delicious, especially the crostini with the spread. Our entrees were very good and prepared with care. My chicken was perfectly cooked and very moist. Special shout out to the bread. It's truly outstanding. My barrier to that fifth star is that everything could use just a bigger punch of flavor. The paprikash was more tomatoey than paprikaish IYKWIM. The violet sorbet just tasted sweet, very little violet flavor at all. We will definitely go back to try what we missed this time around! read more

We made resys months ago, excited for an Austrian-Hungarian concept. We arrived and were greeted. We were sat upstairs by the railing, which have an interesting view of the downstairs. Service was kind and friendly, though not particularly attentive. We weren't checked on as the courses came out. Food wise: - Cheese dumplings: It was flattened and fried, not what I had expected. The burnt taste overpowered the dumplings. - Potato salad: Good but wasn't served warm as traditionally done - Pickles: Carrots and beets were nicely done. I found the potato a bit overpowering - Radish: Good flavor, fresh radish - Paprika chicken: Glad it was two pieces, making sharing easy. There wasn't much spatzle and our chicken was a bit cold. It had been sitting for a while before it made it to our table. Overall, it has promise. Maybe working through a few things or an off night. Curious to try again to see if it is better. read more

Titusz is a new Austrian and Hungarian restaurant in Lawrenceville and we had to try every single food item they offer! It's where the old Merchant Oyster Company used to be and there's a small bar, some tables on the ground floor, and some other tables on the mezzanine. They only take reservations for up to groups of 6. What you need to do after you snag that coveted reservation is to get three friends to come with you and also order everything because you'll want to try it all!  We enjoyed their well balanced and unique cocktails and tried almost all of them. All our food items were so flavorful and it's hard to pick favorites but I would have to say the fried potato bread, dumplings, soup, chicken, and sorbet were my top picks! Pro tip: pay the $4 for the second order of their delicious bread and use it to soak up the sauces from your entrees. read more

This restaurant is a nice addition to Lawrenceville. The Erdapfelsalat (Austrian potato salad) was perfect but the Beer Bratwurst needed something to make it a go-to. Downstairs is a bit crowded and noisy. Will try for balcony reservations next time. read more

I've been missing Josza's Corner and was very excited because I know the excellent work that Csilla Thackray has done over the past decade in restaurants like the Vandal and Legume. Titusz absolutely did not disappoint. They have a great menu, excellent service, and a delightful ambiance. The Ramp Soup, for example was delicious as were the Dumplings and the Lángos. There is limited seating, so this is a difficult reservation to get, however we enjoyed everything about our evening. A number of the dishes on the menu are seasonal, so I look forward to seeing how these dishes change over the year. read more

The restaurant space is open, with soaring ceilings that give the small space a less claustrophobic feel than most similarly sized Pittsburgh restaurants. What a great addition to Lawrenceville! Titusz brings a unique Austrian and Hungarian concept to the burgh. Plus the space is bright, airy, and beautifully designed with two levels of seating. The cocktail and wine list was impressive, with fun NA options. I tried the NA dill dairy drink which was super light and refreshing. We started with house bread, then tried the kaspressknödel (cheese dumplings) and langos (fried potato bread and tangy cheese topfen). The langos was a standout, though I wish the dumplings came with more pieces. For mains, the stuffed cabbage (with rice and mushrooms) and roasted duck leg were both amazing. The duck leg was our favorite because of the sweet and tart apricot reisling reduction that made me want more and more with each bite!! Wow! This place has easily became one of my top 10's in Pittsburgh. This Austrian/Hungarian concept is an awesome addition to Lawrenceville. We were able to snag a reservation when it first opened. From the start of dinner everything was great. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was incredible. Very lovely dishes and different flavors than I've had a lot. The dishes are simple, yet elevated and exploding with flavor. Some of my favorites were the Kaspressknödel, Liptauer, Csirke Paprikás, Walleye and Violet Sorbet. What a great new spot in town! I've never had Hungarian food before but we truly did not have a bad dish! The space is really beautiful and the staff were super attentive and had good recommendations. You have to get the fried potato bread (I'm not a cheese person but it was very mild cheese) and the cheese dumplings (also was a nice mild cheese). For mains, our table tried the duck, bratwurst, chicken, and walleye. We all loved our food, you can't seem to go wrong with the mains. The chicken paprikash is the star as a Hungarian spot and was very flavorful, the sauce was good. I really liked my walleye too, it was perfectly cooked. My friend loved her duck with apricot polenta. Bratwurst was also really good. The drinks were fabulous as well. I liked the gin cocktail with honey and the old fashioned-like rye drink was great. Titusz is a welcome addition to Pittsburgh--nice to have a different flavor profile. The food is very good--I love the langos and the desserts in particular, and the bread and butter is fantastic. The portions are great for sharing. The beverage program really shines, with thoughtful wine pairing suggestions from the bartender and great cocktails. If I had limitless funds I would return frequently to try all of the interesting wines. It's a cute and tiny space. Bar seats get a bit uncomfortable after a while. read more

My daughter brought me here for my Bday yesterday. I gave it a A+ We sat at the bar and got excellent service from the bar maid who made me a custom Lemon/Lime sparkling water drink while waiting for our food. These people are pros. They take their job serious. Pleasant .. well mannered. The Walleye was the best I've ever eaten. Very well cooked and seasoned. My daughters Stuffed cabbage tasted like my moms... there is no better. It's a small restaurant that is well designed and well taken care of. I thought the service when we went a week ago was excellent and the food was good to excellent ( potato salad, bratwurst, fish, stuffed cabbage, pickles, bread, chocolate cake). My issue is how this restaurant can justify $31 for a single link of bratwurst. My cocktail was good but I was surprised at the meager pour of red wine (barely 4 ounces).
