I don't typically go on about refried beans. But these were the best refrieds I have ever had, I can't explain it but they were just so darn good. We were the only gringos in the place, on a Friday night. A good sign! I ordered quesadillas and hubby ordered tacos al carbon, a favorite of ours. The quesadillas were over stuffed with cheese and chicken. Not a skinny little dilla like you usually see. These were easily an inch tall. Bacon and beef quesadillas also are on the menu which I will surely try on my next visit. I asked for some jalapenos, and was brought plenty for three people. Typically I get a small bowl that seems to NEVER be enough, right? Not here. Our waitress saw to it we had a pleasureable meal. Hubby had three tacos al carbon on his plate, along with rice and beans. Again...dem beans!!!! The tacos were outstanding. The homemade tortillas were crispy for my dillas, and perfect for his tacos. Nothing was greasy. The guacamole was very good. Got two salsas with our chips. One cold and one hot. Both good, very fresh. The chips are thick, and can hold a lot. The prices are exceptional and the food is good, the place is clean and I liked the music. It wasn't too loud but could hear it clearly. We thoroughly enjoyed this place, and we WILL be back. read more

Always a Home Run!!! They make all their food from scratch... The flour tortillas are Legit as well as the chips and salsa. I've tried most of the menu so far from the Menudo to Quesadilla. All entrees have earned 5 Stars... Yes, even the Menudo, which is served daily (hard to find during the week). I highly recommend this place and try #38 if it's your first time. read more

Tipico's - From from door - Mexican Near Me - Dallas, Texas

So I loved this place till today came all the way from Lancaster TX just to have to pay to park in a private parking lot. And yes it's not free the guy parking my car told me about 5 times that we don't charge it's just tips like ok I will tip you please just don't miss up my car dude. Get inside of course the place is full but guess what I can't leave I just tip the dude five dollars to park my car. 30 later waitress come out of the blue and ask what do you want to eat and I answer a menu please since no menus on the table as they always have. 5 min later comes back takes the food order and says let me go put the order in and I say ok but you think you could maybe a drink order in and chips and salsa please. Ok now we got everything but the food was great as always but still get a one for the parking and service read more

This place is too great for us go consider not ever returning due to the terribly rude attitude of a server named Carla. I come to Tipicos for the carnitas, tortillas de harina, and Tejano music playing. Not to get eyerolled to death and treated like an idiot who doesn't know what she's ordering. It surprises me, because we usually have such a pleasant experience when we come here. I hope this review gets to the right person (Gerardo), because we've been his customers too long to be treated like trash in this memorable establishment. read more

OH YEAH! Real Mexican food, not bad Texas Tex-Mex. My husband found this place thanks to our fellow Yelpers, and since we had to wait for our luggage, which somehow took a later flight than we did, we had time. Our party of four represented 2/3 of the gringos dining at Tipico's, which is always a good sign for me! My mother-in-law, however, was not convinced (she's more of the chain Tex-Mex types). We love the authentic. The salsa was good, chips were substantial and crispy. The hot sauce is REALLY hot. I had the fajitas, nicely seasoned meat, crisp peppers and onions. The beans were made, most likely with lard (I was hoping anyway, and they tasted really delicious), and rice was fluffy and flavorful. And the tortillas. Holy Homemade Heaven. The flour torts were the perfect texture and flavor. I had a bite of the corn and they were just as real and fresh. read more

The food was super good. I got breakfast with eggs, chorizo and beans and it was delicious. I would go back.

I had high hopes because of the full parking lot and 30 minute wait at 2:30pm on a Saturday, but I wasn't impressed. Their spinach enchiladas were very bland and watered down tasting. I was also bothered by their queso, which was ballpark cheese from a can! I finished my meal because I ordered it, but I won't be back. read more

Tipico's - Their "queso" is ballpark cheese from a can. Thankfully it was only $2! - Mexican Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Had a very bad experience yesterday... Took two bites and nope.. Chicken tasted left out for a while.. Wont be back.

Love love LOVE this shady-lookin Mexican restaurant on the north-side of Love Field. Delicious, homemade entrees, sauces and stews. My favorite is the pork in red-chili sauce. The steak-tips with jalapeno and onion is fantastic also. Even the rice and refried beans rock! Tipico's is one of our regular lunch joints. Great food, great prices and great service. read more

Authentic Mexican food all day and night: including breakfast. Seat yourself and enjoy. The tortillas are homed-made and very delicious, corn and flour, and can be a meal in themselved. You also get two salsas at the table, one cold and one warm to enjoy. I had the beef soup with vegetables and enjoyd every single bite. Will definitely go back for more. This place is packed almost all the time, so try to show up early during meal times or expect to wait to be seated. If you are lucky, they have a musician with a guitar singing live too. read more

This has got to be the best mexican food I have ever eaten. Nothing I have ordered has not been good. Love this place, I eat from here at least twice a week for lunch, and sometimes on the weekend. You have to try this place!! read more

This place is often packed full of local Mexican families. It's testament to their tried and true "typical" Mexican comfort food they dish out. They have the usual suspects but I recommend trying the items with a little symbol next to them on the menu, indicating they are house specialties. The guiso de carne comes to mind, a delicious meat/potato stew. Waitresses are always very attentive and excellent. HOMEADE TORTILLAS ! read more

I normally enjoy the food at this place. This was a recent find for me but on my second time picking up some breakfast takeout I received an unexpected surprise. There was a roach in the salad given to me on my gorditas styrofoam plate. Gross!!!!! What a shame. I was truly liking the place. The roach was alive. Never going back because they need some serious pest control treatments! read more

Freakin, freakin, friggin good! Delicious beans, and handmade tortillas - everything here is super delicious. I usually don't like mexican rice, but the stuff here is great......i'd go back in a second. We even brought a bag of their chips home, and will probably pick up a pack of their homemade tortillas this week (by the dozen). The service was a bit slow, but not a huge deal. yum!!! read more

Insiders tip/ first timers tip: Seat yourself and a waiter will come to you! When you're done eating, take your ticket and table number to the cashier. It's ALWAYS busy. If you do end up waiting to be seated, wait times are usually pretty reasonable. read more

I went here last weekend in search of menudo. Tipicos strikes out when it comes to menudo, but earned some redemption from their home made corn tortillas. The menudo had some good qualities: the tripe was tender and it was less greasy than most variants. These positive foundations could not outweigh the flaws: not much meat, lots of hominy, and way too much salt. Salt was also the unfortunate culprit that marred my puerco guisada. The pork was tender and unsullied by gristle. The rojo guisada was flavorful and its sauce neither too thick nor too thin. The thick style corn tortilla was flexible and satisfying. As good as these qualities were, they were subverted by too many measures of salt. Tipicos is just a few salt shakes away from being very good, but until it it lightens up on the salt, it will consign itself to being average. read more

I first went to this restaurant a year ago when I was in Dallas on business. I was introduced by a Dallas native and enjoyed the food a lot. I forgot what I ordered a year ago when I sat down today for lunch only because my friend and colleague (who was with me last year) ordered something that made me want to order it if there was a day I would come back. That day was today. I got the chicken mole with corn tortillas. Fantastic and made me regret that i didn't get this a year ago. Top it with Mexican Coke and it was the perfect lunch. Service is friendly, fast and efficient. The complimentary tortilla chips are crispy and fresh and our server was more than happy to replenish our bowl as we ravaged those chips. Definitely not prepackaged! In fact when Tostitos sells us "restaurant style" chips that is always going to be a lie until they taste like the ones that are given to you at Tipicos along with a variety of salsas. I can't comment on the decor because I was so involved with my food that I couldn't care how the interior decor looks. And you won't have to care because as long as there is a table with chairs where I can sit down and eat, that is all I need. The price is more than reasonable. All in all, if I am back in Dallas, I will definitely be back. read more

Love this place, the enchiladas are always amazing, the fajitas are a steal for the price, tender fajitas, well flavored chicken with onions and peppers,my dad loves the menudo,he gets it almost every weekend,it's not like a lot of places where the menudo has little to no flavor at all,it's always well seasoned and cooked to perfection,I'm a sucker for good rice and beans so believe me when I say they are nothing short of spectacular, all in all the place is great and once you try it,it will definately have you coming back for more.. read more

All I was trying to do was order breakfast Tacos but the Guy I guess can't multitask nor under English. I had to tell him my order 3 times for chorizo egg and cheese breakfast tacos. $7 lunch fajita on Thursdays! What a great deal for some delicious food. It came with beans and rice which were both delicious. Beans were homemade as were the tortillas. There were 2 salsas, one served warm and one cold. I liked the cold one better, both were a bit spicy. The chips were okay, not phenomenal. Our server was super nice and gave is drinks to go. You pay at the counter which was really backed up at lunch, so that was a low! read more

Sweet find. Visited on a Saturday and El mariachi Solo was playing to a packed lunch crowd. Service was prompt. Menu is no frills traditional texmex with a specialties section that is Mexican tradicional. The mariachi was modern and effin awesome!! My wife and I had lunch recently and it reminded me that we don't get to Tipicos nearly often enough. My wife had her favorite, the spinach enchiladas. I had the chicken with mole sauce. Both servings were generous. The spinach enchiladas come with ranchero sauce. The chicken mole features chunks of chicken with plenty of sauce left over for sopping. Beans and rice are good. The chips are thick and come with both warm and cool sauce. We both had iced tea which, unlike some other places, actually tastes like tea. Service, as always, was efficient and cordial. Iced tea glasses are large and were kept topped off. Lunch for two with iced tea was just over $20. You can't beat that. read more

Yea, this is my local Mex/Tex-mex dive. Place can be packed on the weekends for good reason. Everything is good and inexpensive. I go for the fajitas when I need to get my carnivore on. Maybe not the very best in town, but probably the best price/quality ratio in Dallas. read more
