Needed a tow from Nanakuli to Town... it being a weeknight at 10 PM, I could only assume that the tow company would arrive 1.5 to 2 hours later. I was wrong! Estimated arrival time was 11 o'clock, RJ, the owner of Tip Tows arrived in half an hour, 10:30 PM! I don't know anything about tow trucks, but this truck was dope! He hooked up my SUV in less than 10 minutes, and we were on the road within 15 from his arrival! The drive to town was a bit long, but he was very personable in the car, we shared stories about the mainland as well as Hawaii life now. He made my cousin and I feel very comfortable, and we laughed the whole way! I was initially going to tow my car back to my house but he made the recommendation to go straight to the dealership to avoid any additional tow fees. That alone speaks volume of his character! He was thinking one step ahead of us! If you need a tow, I would suggest him 100x over! He cared about the safety of my car, and even made sure we called a Lyft or Uber before he left so we wouldn't be waiting a long time and even turned away a tip. Again speaks volume of his character! My car wouldn't start, the electric e-brake wouldn't release and it was parked in a pretty tight area. My insurance company called out Honolulu towing to do the job--they couldn't. It seemed like the tow truck driver was making every excuse possible so he wouldn't have to do the job. Thank god i sent them away! Tip Tows came out next. Really awesome service and the cheapest when I've asked around. Car died and was left In Parking lot after work at 4am in morning. Couldn't jump it, so called around different towing companies and Tip Tows was the cheapest rate from Navy Exchange to Kapolei. My tires were also in bad shape yet he took a chance on taking it on freeway. Of course if anything else happened he would have charged it but he still took it. He also suggested I get roadside with my insurance for the CHEAPEST RATE! Here I was coming back from a work meeting, in the parking structure...tired out of my mind. After a stressful day dealing with Alamo rental car roadside assistance, RJ came to our rescue. Our VW beetle rental car would not start and we were stranded next to Laniakea Beach. We were picked up by the first tow truck only to be dropped off minutes later in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road due to a miscommunication (the tow truck had picked up the wrong car). After calling roadside assistance again, RJ from TipTows towing showed up. He said he was assigned to pick up only the car but no passengers. Seeing that we would have been left on the side of the road again (at 10:00pm and and this time without a vehicle), luckily he took us with him in the truck. After dropping the car off at the HNL airport Alamo location, we were supposed to find our own transportation back to Waikiki but we are forever thankful that RJ took us to our hotel after a long day of dealing with rental car problems. My husband's car died on the H1 on ramp today on his way to work. Not only was he late for work but he wasn't in the best place on the road. I was at work and couldn't leave to help him. I've honestly never been so quick to write a review on a company until now. I'm really not one to write yelp reviews in general unless I really feel passionately about the service I received and BOOOOYYYY LEMME TELL YOU A LIL SOMETHIN ABOUT THIS COMPANY RIGHT HERE! I'm writing this right after arriving home, thanks to the help of RJ. I work in Waipahu and after I got off, I got into my car and it wouldn't start. It's pretty much 9:30 at night and I'm thinking to myself, "Wow, really? Could this car give me problems at a more inconvenient time?" I'm over here looking for tow companies who I could get to come out and assist me. I called up Cachola Towing because it was the first in my results and it went to voicemail. I left a voicemail and waited a bit but got no call back. Mind you, a girl is tired after being at work since 7:30 a.m. and I just wanted to get home as soon as possible. I called up Tip Tows to see if I'd have any luck there and my call was immediately answered by RJ. He asked where I was at, asked about what was happening with the car to try to figure out what might be going on with the car, gave me some quotes over the phone, and told me it'd be about 30ish minutes. He got there faster than he estimated and I can't even tell you how much more appreciative I was for this. As soon as he got out of the truck, the first words out of his mouth were "I'm gonna see if I can try to save you a couple bucks here" and those are words I've never heard in the history of me having someone assist me with car troubles. I was willing to pay for the tow but he was sweet enough to see if he could jump start it and save me money that way. Might be a small gesture to some, but I've really never had anyone who's tried to save me money while helping me with my car so it meant a lot. RJ was able to jump start my car and even managed to figure out that the problem was my battery instead of my alternator, which I had thought was the culprit. Instead of paying somewhere around $150-$170ish for the tow from my working place to my home, it was just under $100. He told me I'd be fine going home but to make sure to change my battery as soon as I can. And he assured me that if for some reason I did end up dying out on the way home, I could call him up again and he'd come out to help me. This man is definitely a work of art. I can see why this company has such a great rating and why there are so many reviews on him. It's all well-deserved. It's so nice to see there are still people out there with great customer service. You know Murphy's Law? Anything that can go wrong will go wrong? That seemed to be especially true for me last night when I had my car filled with food, gifts and my friend's children as we were on our way to a get together and of course of all nights to crap out my car chose Christmas Eve. Thankfully I have roadside coverage through my insurance company but two tweens, food, presents, Christmas Eve and my insurance company sending someone with no reviews on Yelp? I was a wee bit concerned but let me tell you I must have been on Santa's good list because this guy was an angel. He came within the time that was promised and was not only polite, and professional but seeing the food, gifts, etc in the car and most likely the panic on my face he made conversation with me and the kids to help bring my tension level down from 1000 to it's normal range of 10. And let's not even discuss the fact that he beat our "roadside rescue" team to the scene. A man in a Jaguar passed a Mini that had broken down by the side of the road. Being a kindly driver, he stopped and fixed a tow-rope to it and began towing it to the nearest garage. After 5 minutes of towing, a Porsche passed them at high speed. The Jaguar driver was not going to be outdone by a Porsche, so, forgetting that he had a Mini in tow, slammed his foot down and the Jaguar and Porsche indulged in a high-speed race down the road, the Mini and it's occupant trailing wildly about at the end of the rope frantically trying to attract their attention and failing. A Police car saw them and gave chase. The Police driver radioed back to Headquarters "Sarge, you'll never going to believe this, I've just seen a Porsche and a Jaguar neck and neck doing 150 mph - and a guy in a Mini flashing his lights, blowing his horn and trying to overtake them!" Ok, enough with the jokes. If you ever were stuck on the side of the road you probably weren't laughing unless you have a funny story how you ended up there. In this case there is no funny story. I also couldn't find someone with a Jaguar to help tow my car so I could write about some crazy adventure. I had roadside coverage so I called and when they finally came, the driver told me that they because my car is lowered that I take the chance of them messing up my bumper. Hmmm I asked what are the chances of that happening? He told me he doesn't know and asked if I want him to tow my car or not? I said that's ok. So I called my mechanic who told me that they sold their tow truck and to call Tip Tows. "Tip tows?" WTH is Tip Tows and are they good as I told them what the first tow truck said. He said this guy is good and to give them a call 222-3432 and ask for Big Boy and tell him that Kenny said to call. I called him, well I called the number and just asked for a tow truck and told them what the other tow truck driver said about my car being lowered and stuff. They said it should be ok. Well after 30 min of waiting he finally shows up. He took a look at my car and I told him what the other guy said about my car being lowered and how it might mess up my bumper. He told me that it isn't a problem. Btw I like this guy's tow truck better as it looks newer than the old scratched up and dirty one that came first. As he hooked up my car up, (yes I was watching him all the way) it didn't even look like my bumper wasn't even going to be a problem. I don't even know what the first guy was talking about but then again it could of been this guy knows what he is doing. Another plus was that they take Visa, Mastercard, or debit unlike the other guys who took only cash. Hey come on, who carries that much cash on them anyways now days. All in all, this company is right on. Took care of my baby from the beginning right down to the end. By far the best towing experience I've ever had. Service was excellent and fast, and most of all AFFORDABLE. I was worried at first because the body kit on my mustang makes it a little lowered. But the driver took excellent care, even got out of the truck to adjust the lift about 4 times so it wouldn't scrape down the driveway. Had it towed back to my house but only with street parking. My dude (sorry I forgot his name) even did a 3 point turn to make sure my car would be facing the right way on the street as to not risk getting a ticket.
