Tiny's Yelp rating is still weighed down by reviews from years ago. This place has really turned it around, used to be not so good and now is excellent. I eat here semi-regularly and always happy with the result. Rating should be 4 stars, not three. read more

Overpriced and mediocre food. Service in unpleasant, and food takes a long time to get. This explains all the other negative reviews. These people can't even get an order correct. The staff isn't friendly, and in personable read more

My Fam and I have been to Tiny's for breakfast twice now. We kept avoiding it because of the mixed reviews but overall, we enjoyed the experience and plan on returning. They have affordable prices and yummy breakfast choices. It's also family friendly, which is a plus for us. The only downside is that the service can be a little slow at times (but still very friendly)! read more

I have been a resident in Riverdale for the past few years and often frequent diners/brunch spots around the area. If you are looking for diner food in the riverdale area, this is definitely the place to go. The food is very typical of diners. That said, it is always reliable and consistent not to mention delicious. Service is reasonably quick even at peak hours, and everyone is very hospitable. I definitely recommend the tiny's french toast and the breakfast burrito. Fresh squeezed orange juice is always a plus. read more

Walked in to pick up a soup and a ham sandwich. They overcharged me by $5 for the ham sandwich which I only realized when I was already home with my food. Then I found a huge long curly hair in the soup. I took it back. They offered me another soup, which I declined, but no refund for a soup I wouldn't eat. First and last experience here unfortunately. read more

I have been to Tiny's two times over the last six months and have to say I've had a very pleasant experience both times. This most recent time, I had the pleasure of meeting the manager Brian. He was very courteous and took care of his customers with thoroughness and is committed to providing the best experience for guests. I really appreciate that. As for the food, I'm a big breakfast guy so by nature I'm going to like everything on the menu but I was very pleased with my omelette. I am excited to go back and try the pancakes and french toast as well. read more

The best diner in Riverdale by far! Food is great and is made to order so it sometimes takes a while but it's well worth the wait!

Fuhgeddaboutit. Best breakfast in the neighborhood. When I've got a big day ahead of me, I leave extra time to stop by here. Staff also incredibly sweet. L read more

The good here is pretty good for diner food. But the service is horrible!!! Have been there a handful of times and each time is worse than the next. They take forever to cook the food. read more

Wow. It's bad. I wanted this place to work out, but the food is just so bad. I mean how do you mess up a grilled cheese sandwich and still call yourself a diner? Seriously, hire a chef! What are you waiting for?! Someone who knows how to cook, not just open freezer bags of pre-fab food and heat it up. Even the guacamole was pre-fab and tasted like a plastic tub. The $15 "special" of goulash came with a starchy-side was not even recognizable. Yikes read more

Great little diner with fresh vegetarian and gluten free options (although I personally had the French dip!) I had lunch here and really enjoyed the food and the friendly staff, the latter being pretty rare in the Bronx. Would definitely recommend for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They have great fresh squeezed orange juice and the vegetables were surprisingly (for a diner) fresh and delicious. Big portions, so if you like leftovers or are very hungry I would recommend checking this place out. read more

To bad the service is slow cuz the food is decent . I did an online order once took way longer than the app predicted. I went in twice to this place and both times (visits occurred months apart ) it took forever to get out food. Problem is they are short staffed ... managment is prob being cheap... read more

We went there for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious!!! I had the blueberry pancake which was really tasty and airy. The blueberries in the pancake was half melted and still warm when they served it. It was amazing. I also had a spinach and tomato omelette which was also really tasty. The flavor was just right and the spinach really had a lot of flavor. I suggest you go if you're around the neighborhood. read more

I am very disappointed with the service at this diner. The place had about 3 or 4 booths full but that is no excuse for the lack of attention me and my husband were given here to just order a take-out item. We order take-out all the time from home but I am seriously disappointed in the service received when going in there. The manager, Brian, was on his phone, seemingly like he couldn't care there were customers waiting to be attended to. It seemed as if they were more concerned with the patrons dining in. Note to Tiny's Diner: EVERY CUSTOMER IS IMPORTANT! No matter if they are spending $100 or $2! I won't be going back. read more

Tiny's has an excellent atmosphere. It is decorated in a charming 50's retro look including lovely black and white tile work. The food is great. I've been there many times for breakfast and lunch and have always been satisfied with my meal. However, I am careful not to go to Tiny's unless I know I have plenty of time on my hands. The service has at times been quite slow, and the employees frequently flustered and harried. One recommendation I would make is to secure the booths more firmly to the walls. They are a bit flimsy, so you feel the movement of whoever is sitting in the booth behind you. If it's a wiggly person, that can impede your enjoyment of your meal. In summary--a charming place to eat if you don't mind a leisurely pace. read more

I never write reviews on restaurants but the customer service here is terrible! When I first started going to Tinys I loved it! It was my favorite diner in Riverdale but as time went on service got worse back in June I waited nearly an hour before my waitress realized that she never put our order in and then when I said forget it and got up to leave she got an attitude. This Morning I Went To Have breakfast there and the waitress was rude and unfriendly when we sat down she gave us menus and after 15 mins of us sitting there she came over and asked if we were in a rush because she was not sure when we were going to be able to eat. Completely blew my mind because the place was not even packed but I over heard the cook saying he was leaving in 30 mins and that was it. She was still rude when relaying the message of not sure how long it would be before we got to actually get served and unapologetic. I felt like we were being kicked out of the restaurant. They really need a new staff in that place employees who are actually people friendly and not there just to get a pay check I worked in a restaurant for a few years and i know that things get overwelhming at times but I never treated customers like this! read more

The wait was long, the servers were rude and incompetent and the food was inedible! They even served us BURNT toast and then had the audacity to expect complete payment after we complained (!) with merely, "we hope it is better the next time you come in." They obviously do not know how to cook, deal with people and/or run a business! We were very excited to try Tiny's - we patronize many local businesses and want them to do well. We eat out a few times a week but after our experience will never, ever return to this poor excuse of a food establishment! read more

Everything about this diner is great! The staff is friendly, the food is fresh and cooked to perfection and it has a small town quaint feel to it as well. I'll typically order the eggs, bacon and home fries (cooked extra crispy). I heard the cherry pie was delicious! read more

I love Tiny's Diner! I have been coming here for quite some time, and the food and service just keeps getting better and better! Their portion sizes are amazing for their low prices and the atmosphere is so inviting! The staff is so friendly, and recognized me after a few times of going in the beginning. Tiny's creates an 'at home' feeling, with the cozy booths and the enticing staff. I've tried so many things off their menu and everything has been delicious! From their omelettes, to their salads, to sandwiches and even soups, you can't go wrong with any order at Tiny's! read more

I'm baffled by the bad reviews here. The food here is tasty diner fare AND they sell the delicious Lloyd's Carrot Cake -- one of only a few places in Riverdale to offer it. I've brought my parents to Tiny's several times and we've left full and happy. It'a not fancy, but the portions are plentiful and the prices are right. I hope they've learned from any mistakes they've made. Tiny's is a gem for Riverdale, and I hope it lasts! read more

Went here for an early dinner with my 6 year old cousin, J. We were warmly greeted by the young gentleman behind the counter. He was cute. We decided to sit on one of the brand spanking new booths. Comfortable, plus fabulous and sparkly enough for J. I ordered the beef burger deluxe and J ordered waffles. I thoroughly enjoyed the burger. Juicy, tasty, angus beef, my mouth is watering just thinking about it now! I like it with lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions, but you have the option of adding various types of cheeses, mushrooms, bacon and etc. Finished every bit of it. The kitchen mistakenly added powdered sugar on J's waffle, our waitress was very apologetic and quickly ordered another one. J got her waffles, she liked it, no biggie. The service was great. Our waitress was nice, helpful, and served us with a smile on her face. The owner I could tell is very involved with his business as customers knew him and calls him Tiny. He came over and asked how everything was. A nice fella. A big friendly giant he is. I understand that it's new and they're probably just getting in the groove of things but I know this place will do well. I will definitely come back. read more

This place is GREAT!!! The atmosphere is very pleasant, very clean. Has a great 50's sort of vibe to the decor. Both the waitress and the cashier were friendly and welcoming. I literally only waited at the most 7 minutes for my order! When it arrived it was enough to feed an army. I had an onion omelet with home fries, and an everything bagel. The food was really delicious!! This place has it all, I am living in this neighborhood for almost 4 years and just found this great spot. Also, they are incredibly reasonable in price. I highly recommend them to anyone, and I certainly will be back again!! read more

My friends and I frequently grace Tiny's with our presence. But as of recently the service has changed - things have gone downhill. Today we went for brunch. Our waitresses did not meet our expectations. The first waitress made us repeat our orders multiple times. We did not get untensils until 10 minutes into the meal. We were SO hungry that we started eating with our hands. We ordered curly fries, which were good, but they didn't come until 30 minutes after our food arrived. but it doesn't stop there. We did not receive water refills until the end of the meal, straws, or napkins. Ordered pancakes but no syrup. Despite all this, our waitress didn't seem too apologetic. She rolled her eyes, walked away while we were answering a question, and made us sort our checks. I don't think it was all her fault. She was obviously stressed and the diner needed more workers. Either way, my friends and I will find a new place to get fries and pancakes. read more

I've never been inside Tiny's, but have ordered numerous times. The food is consistently good. Not spectacular (they don't claim to be Le Cirque), but dependably good - which is really a rarity in this neighborhood, I'm sorry to say. Excellent iced coffee. Staff has always been very courteous over the phone. Waiting for them to open now so we can order breakfast... read more

I was surprised to see some of the one star reviews for this place. I couldn't help but wonder if I have been to the same restaurant. While I can't comment on the dinners, I have been here for breakfast a few times, and each time, I found the service and food to be quite good. I have tried both the omelets and french toast sandwiches , and it was clear that the ingredients were fresh, and the eggs perfectly fluffy. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly, the ambience fun, and the place overall was squeaky clean. Riverdale desperately needs good restaurants, especially breakfast places. I sincerely hope that the problems other reviewers found have been rectified. It is a relatively new place, so naturally there will be kinks, but I really hope Tiny's becomes a new fixture on Riverdale Avenue. Judging from the lack of empty tables on all my visits, I don't think I am the only one that finds this place to be at minimum a 4 star diner. read more

It is a nice quaint diner. I came here to pass the time and have a good filling breakfast while I was at it. I had a better experience than expected. The prices were low and portions large. Waitress staff were very friendly and always checked in. Never rushed me out even when the lunch crowd started to roll in (like I said was trying to pass the time). The food was good for a low-priced diner on the corner. The tables were very clean and actually looked like they were new. I would say that they could serve better ham with their breakfast platters (I was expecting a thicker Canadian style cut of ham and got two rectangular thin slices of ham like it was straight out of an Oscar Meyer package), but really, that was the "worst" of it. All around I think it's a great alternative to the commercialized Starbucks breakfast/cafe experience. Very chill environment. They have two TVs in the far corners for those who like a little CNN/Nick Jr in the morning with their morning Joe. Also I ordered multiple cups of coffee (three?) and they didn't charge me an extra. Love it. read more

I just ordered an egg and cheese sandwich to go and when I opened it there was what looked like pasta/tomato sauce smothered inside as well as a trace of what looked like broccoli. I can only assume that the cook was using a common cooking space and/or a common utensil. This is pure laziness and disregard for someone's order. Unfortunately I couldn't return it because I was already on the bus. read more

meandered in to grab a quick breakfast. The owner and waitress were very friendly. Prices were very reasonable and I ordered a French toast with bacon. Hubs ordered a florentine Omelette with home fries on the side. The French toast was made in the old fashioned way but lacked sufficient batter so it was a bit soggy. The bacon was crisp and delicious. the florentine omelet was tasty and the home fries made with bits of onion and green peppers were very good. Overall the diner is cute, the people are nice, and food is pretty standard with minimal wait time for the hungry patron. would recommend coming to this place for breakfast in Riverdale. read more

I ordered a Philly cheese steak. According to their menu, it comes on a hero roll, with Swiss cheese, onions, and peppers. Philly steaks usually don't come with Swiss cheese, but I ordered one anyway. When it arrived, the sandwich was on a soggy hamburger bun. The meat was simply a square of unsliced steak-um. Yes, just a solid piece of steak-um on a soggy burger bun. It also had mushrooms, which the menu did not mention. It tasted bland, with the mushrooms providing most of the flavor. (I've had their burgers in the past and I can't say they were much better.) read more

My friends and I went to Tiny's Diner on November 2, 2012. I found that they had a great selection of appetizers, main courses, salads and desserts and even a children's menu. We had the following dishes: the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla Wrap, the Quesadilla with BBQ Chicken, sauteed mushrooms and onion, the Homemade Lasagna, the Stuffed Avocado with Chicken Salad. The food was delicious and reasonably priced! We also had a special dessert created by the chef, crepes with apricot filling. Yum!!!! The service was fantastic, the food great and the owner, Tiny was delightful! I recommend Tiny's highly. You will not be disappointed. read more

We went to Tiny's Diner for breakfast and had the Dublin omelette and the challah French toast. The staff was nice, but the service was very slow. The meat in the omelette was undercooked and the French toast was insipid. Even the syrup lacked flavor. All in all, a very disappointing experience. read more

good quality food, they are just open so they need to work out some issues. All and all, it has huge potential.

Honestly can do you screw up an scrambled egg?? Well sad but true, Tiny's diner did just that. And I was really excited to try them when I first read the article in the Riverdale Press back in October. But back to my experience. My daughter and I figure we would try breakfast. My daughter ordered a Spanish omelette, but who puts zucchini, carrots and squash in a Spanish omelette? Best thing about the place was the coffee and that's only because it was freshly made. Wait staff need to write the orders down so they don't forget and then try to blame the customers. WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY FINAL CRITIQUE FOR TINY'S... Don't think that because the customer might not look Spanish that we don't understand when you talk about us because we actually are Hispanics trying to support a new business in the neighborhood!!! read more

I just moved to Riverdale a couple of months ago and this is the first place we went to eat out. It's a fun little place done like a small 50's diner. We have eaten here about 6 times now and I really like it. They recently got a new Austrian chef... that may seem odd for a 50's American place but I have to tell you he is putting out some delicious food. He had a Goulash special that was outstanding. If they were doing a lot of frozen food in the beginning, I think that issue has been fixed for the most part with the new chef. The wait staff seems to have a lot of turnover but they try real hard to please. I would suggest people that wrote previous reviews come give it another try now. I think the prices are excellent and you get a lot for the money. I will keep supporting them not only because we need to support small business in the area.... but because it's a great little place. read more

Everything is wrong about this place. To start, they don't know how to follow through on their own format. The fifties like theme is confused with the 3 flat screen tvs playing a bad Denzel shootem' up movie. The waitress tried but it felt like it was her first day. The menu is less than appetizing but when you do work up the nerve to order something that sounds like it'll be pulled out of the freezer and heated up, it takes much longer than expected to reach the table. And, we were one of two tables in the whole place. The food as awful. No taste and ill prepared. The chef has no idea what it is to cook. And, by that, I mean that he couldn't even get a grill cheese sandwich right b/c the one that arrived at our table was an awful hard brick of a thing. We won't be going back. read more

There was a ton of spinach (probably a cup, cooked) in my spinach omelette...this is so rare at diners and, as a vegetable lover, very welcome. The home fries were good too, with pepper and onion, and they served strong, freshly brewed coffee. Huge amount of food for what you pay, very attentive, friendly servers. read more

I stopped in today, but didn't stay because smoke was pouring forth from the grill and I couldn't take the smell. I thought it was on fire, but the waitress said it wasn't on fire, just the smoke from cooking some hamburgers. The waitress seemed rather annoyed that I found the smoke bothersome. Well, whatever, good luck to your lungs and to the poor cook's lungs. read more

The food is fine, and the restaurant is cute, but DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY. It will always take at least an hour, often 90 minutes, and once it took over 2 hours. We only ordered multiple times because we had hoped the first couple times were just days when they were short-staffed, but we now know that they never ever have enough staff. read more

I'm so surprised to see any negative reviews because I LOVE this place!! I live nearby so have been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have also ordered takeout. I think the food is great, the portions are huge, and the prices are reasonable. Service can be a little slow sometimes, but is always friendly and polite. They have a breakfast special for $11.95 that's enormous. It included three pieces of challah French toast, heavenly, very light and with powdered sugar on top (or three pancakes also light and fluffy), one egg any style, bacon, ham, AND sausage, as well as a bottomless cup of coffee and a shot of fresh squeezed orange juice. Forget about your cholesterol; this breakfast is worth it! I've also had the chocolate chip pancakes, which are amazing. There's a huge selection of omelettes and frittatas yet to try. For lunch or dinner I've had the Mexican burger, which comes with a lot of guacamole and perfect fries, the spinach pie, which comes with a "side" Greek salad as big as a regular one, the moussaka (enough for two meals) which was SO delicious, the grilled vegetable panini, which had such fresh vegetables, several different wraps (there's a big selection). I'm working my way through the menu. Come with a big appetite! read more

In the world of instant gratification it is nice to know that things slow down a bit in Tiny's diner. The chef, Dennis knows my name and Tiny is always good for a joke. We talk about the Yankees or Giants..or whatever front page story of the day. Yes, I can actually get a news paper to read there. Sure the service isn't like those places in Manhattan but this is Riverdale. I go to Tiny's for the food and the experience. The food is always good and its a feel good place. I like the decor and yes, I enjoy watching the news or games on the TV's. Sorry that I am not so demanding but this is a DINER! They serve very good food! Yes, I am a fan... read more
