I frequent this neighborhood restaurant often. The server in the morning (the one with the tattoos) is unkind and quite lazy. The sugar containers are jammed to the point where they look messy. You are not able to get a sugar packet out without numerous packets coming out at the same time. I fixed the container at the table where I sat just yesterday, in addition to other tables and today ALL the tables look the same again. I believe she does this intentionally. Spinach pie was very tasty, highly seasoned. Waitress came over at first and brought food quickly, with water and extra napkins however later she did not refill my coffee, gave me a butter knife when I asked for a steak knife, and I had to motion her over to get the check after waiting for quite a while obviously finished with my meal. The restaurant is not huge, but still a decent size - it has that classic diner look with booths, a large counter with seating, and TVs playing. I will say it's a little dated - the carpets and booths have that floral print that was popular around 20 or so years ago. They still write out their orders on paper receipts and have that old-school cash register - a real throwback. I usually go simple in diners; I had the turkey club which came with fries and a pickle with cole slaw. The sandwich was good - the bread was toasted and didn't fall apart when I took a bite and was tasty overall. I came with a group of 14 and we were accommodated right away in a room just off of the main dining area, it was perfect. The service was excellent and although being a large group and in a separate dining area we never felt neglected or forgotten about. I ordered the chicken and avocado wrap, which was rather bland and, well.... We'll leave it at that, but the challah French toast with Nutella looked delicious and was among the favorites ordered today. I'm told the lox platter was great, and although the bagel was plain, the lox was fresh and tasty which made up for it! They deliver too! It really hurts me to give Golden Eagle a negative review. When my partner and I started ordering from Golden Eagle, we were in HEAVEN. However, lately we have been disappointed with our orders. Today our cole slaw was spoiled. In previous orders, the lemon cake was stale, the cole slaw tasted funny, the portions for Bronx breakfast shrunk, and when I ordered cherry pie, I received blueberry pie. We kept ordering with the hope of receiving the meals that we once loved. It appears that Golden Eagle is not as Golden as it use to be. Looking to fall in LOVE again. read more

I really wish service was better. There was a water in my drink and the waitress never came by to even ask if everything was alright. Wasn't able to get her attention. The lemonade has about 15 seeds in it which makes the drink hard to actually drink. I was only given one napkin which was under the fork and knife. The food however was great. Beef barley was amazing. My boyfriend loved the shrimp parmigiana and my chicken parmigiana was good. The pasta sauce is okay but can't expect much from a diner. Returning is a possibility. I came here on a Saturday afternoon with a few friends. We were not seated by someone, they simply told us to pick where we wanted to sit, since it was pretty vacant. The food was good and they give big portions. The onion rings and waffle fries were really good. The service is okay. The people are very nice, and the food was made quickly, however, our waitress kept getting our order wrong and was not as attentive to our table so that was a let down. Got the cheeseburger (~$5) which came with a side of coleslaw and a pickle. No tomatoes or lettuce...but if you order the deluxe burger, it comes not only with lettuce and tomatoes, but fries. It seems a bit ridiculous that you have to pay extra for standard hamburger toppings, but it was a good idea that one person got the deluxe because there was more than enough lettuce and tomatoes for me to add to my burger! Didn't try the coleslaw and pickles, but did order a chocolate milk shake which was delicious. For a hamburger and shake craving, i would definitely come back. This was a diner I would go to often a few years back. After moving back to New York I was quite excited to come back to the diner I used to eat at so often. I ordered roasted turkey with mashed potatoes, and my partner ordered mashed potatoes with a side of eggs and bacon. The food was okay, until we got to dessert. I ordered the cheesecake which was good, while my partner opted for the chocolate pudding. The pudding was hard on the outside and extremely lumpy upon sticking your spoon inside. I asked them to take it back. They brought another pudding out for my partner, which was slightly better, then the server proceeds to tell us she had just served us old/expired pudding because she was on vacation and did not know the pudding in the fridge had gone bad. What kind of server tells you they just served you expired food? What kind of restaurant doesn't label their prepared food with dates to prevent this. read more

Ok so the place is okay. Very late 80's early 90's with the floral or whatever print that was both on the floor and the backs of the seats. I ordered the Bronx Breakfast which was two eggs, sausage, bacon, ham and pancakes for eight dollars and fifty cents. Not bad. I asked for bananas and strawberries on my pancakes and it was delivered exactly as ordered. The butter was almost frozen so the waitress got me some from the cooks' station without batting an eye which I appreciated! I didn't give it 5 stars despite the decor for two reasons. It was frigid cold and I mean cold! I served in Wyoming so I'm not scared of the cold but I actually felt the cold in the bones of my hands as I ate. It honestly felt like 50 degrees or less. NOT GOOD! And yes my blood pressure is fine lol The second reason is the waitresses while they were all sweet and friendly, kinda disappeared. One lady had to get out of her seat to get the waitress and I may have had to also but instead I flagged her down as she went to get that first ladies check and I just gave her my card so she could charge me without my having to risk waiting for the receipt and her disappearing again!
