I think Rasmus N. wrote a perfect review. I couldn't have said it any better... I went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I had a great experience. I had a frittata and my bf had the burrito. We got bacon on the side and it was delicious. Service was quick and our waitress was very friendly. I was disappointed when i quickly reccomended this place to a couple of friends and heard of their experiences - long wait, getting the wrong food, overcooked eggs, no hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict etc etc. I thought well we have to go back and see what is going on. We tried it a 2nd time and experienced a long wait, we asked for bacon on the side and only got 2 strips, and my burrito was below par. However, my bf got the french toast sandwich with pear and provolone... it was delicious!!! I was now torn about Tiny's Diner. I get very excited about new places in Riverdale and like most people in the neighborhood I would love to see Tiny's Diner succeed. I think I will wait a little while before trying it a third time. Nothing is more disappointed than not getting what you ordered or having inexperienced staff - especially when you are hungry! Better food than any of the other diners in the area, but horrible service. They've always been slow but last time we got food delivered, they forgot an entire entree (out of two entrees) and we had to wait for the delivery guy to come back. This morning we went in and waited 10 minutes for them to clear off the food that belonged to the people who just left. We could see how long of a wait this was going to be so we walked out. Ordered a burger deluxe at 7:00PM on March 14, 2018. I was told there very busy and the delivery should take 45 minutes. Well 8:00 no delivery. I was told 20 minutes more. Really, still no delivery at 8:15PM. Was told the delivery person should be at you door any second. Called again at approximately 8:30 and the girl said the driver already delivered it, I said no he didn't. I was told there making a new order and it will be delivered in 20 minutes. Well it was delivered in 20 minutes ICE COLD! $14.42 gone to waste. When I call the girl would always say Sorry Honey, she must have said it 4 times. Honey, I wonder if I was a man she would call me HONEY or say Sir. So I had a man call and for sure she said How can I help you SIR. So, if you order from them be prepared for a very very very late delivery and very very cold food. Such a shame. Food is good, but management needs help!!! read more

Each time I order (either in person or for delivery) it takes about an hour to get the food. Food is generic diner quality so no real need for it to take so long. Staff doesn't seem to care that the service is so slow. I am done with this place and not coming here or ordering again. read more

I was really excited about this place... I love old school diners. The decor was very cute and the place was clean. Our waitress was very nice... Though she forgot a few things she was apologetic and hurried to remedy. A guy in the kitchen brought our daughter a free crepe with apricot filling, which was pretty tasty. Now onto our meal... in general, it was average at best. It was clear that most if not all of the food was bought frozen and just prepared there. I that breakfast might be more freshly made food, based on the crepe, but our dinner items were all pretty much blah. Buffalo wings were nothing special. French dip sandwich just didn't taste like fresh roast beef. Also, they served it with some gravy instead of au jus, which was weird. Greek platter - the gyro was clearly not authentic and the spinach feta pie is one you can buy frozen at food service suppliers and just pop in the oven. Cheeseburger was just okay. Fries were just standard frozen food service fries, not even the best ones. I really would like this place to succeed because it is a cool environment and the menu looks great. Unfortunately, it does not deliver on taste. I think if they used more fresh ingredients and made the items from scratch and got rid of all the frozen items (i.e. cooked their own food, not just heated it up), it could be awesome. read more

My friends and I have been going to the restaurant in this location for years before they closed down and Tiny's opened up. So I had a lot of comparisons to make during my first few meals here. The food: savory and made with what tastes like quality ingredients. Three (breakfast) meals there so far have been terrific. The service: some of the new staff were still learning the finer points of customer management by my first meal there (a week after it opened) but by my third meal (a couple weeks later) they were on point. The atmosphere: 50's-style decor and staff outfits with present-day charm. Some may claim they didn't go far enough with the theme, but if they had old fashioned hair styles and roller skates, it'd have been too much. This isn't a theme park, it's a diner. The theme is a light seasoning and the restaurant is better off for it. The staff attitude: warm and friendly, to customers as well as to each other. This completes the meal, truly. The owner/manager jokes with his employees as they work through a stressful shift. The sense of humor and familiarity the staff has with each other gives the ambiance a levity that brings the place, the staff, down to Earth. Overall: for a comfortable and delicious experience, come here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are even open late! PS: their coffee is very good, too. read more

Like Tony, I too was surprised at the many one star reviews of Tiny's diner. I have had breakfast there with my gf on many occasions and the food was always very good and the prices were great for a diner in Riverdale. I do agree however that the wait for the food did seem a bit long, however the diner was very busy all the times we came. I love the decor of the place and everyone I have met, from Tiny to the staff have all been friendly and attentive. I will return to Tiny's again, perhaps for lunch this time! :) read more

My family and I love this diner/restaurant and go often! We mostly go for breakfast and the food is always on point and consistent. The cook always makes my eggs to perfection!!!! Since we have been several times, we have learned what days and times are best are suitable for our schedule. Therefore I do recommend if you are on a tight schedule think about visiting Tiny's when you are not in a rush...peak time is always very busy. Clueless staff/management. They had bad attitudes. Waited about an hour before having enough and walking out. While waiting for our food to come, we saw 4 delivery orders go out the door, meanwhile, our order hadn't even been placed. How do I know? We asked and the waitress told us out order will be prepared next. This is after sitting there for an hour. Horrible. In response to Brian- you're lying, as evidence by others making the same comment about deliveries going out by the handful, meanwhile the in-house customers wait stranded and starving. As far as the table that was "impatient" and left, I don't think leaving after waiting an hour for some simple eggs and waffles is impatient. Finally, the fact that the table with an hour wait didn't make it to your attention is not a surprise, since your business is run poorly. read more

Love Tiny's! The total opposite of Blue Bay diner. Tiny's is waaaaaaaaaay better! The ambience takes me back to the nostalgic 50's nice and clean, the food is terrific, and in large portions (nothing "tiny" about that), and an affable staff to boot! Took a lady friend with me over there, and she loved it! We had a good time. No complaints. The owner Tiny is a sweet guy, and so are the staff that works there providing you with good, and adequate service. I would definitely recommend eating over there. read more

Of all the diners in the Riverdale area Tiny's is the best of the bunch. Dale diner on W231st being second. Stay away from Land and Sea along with The Riverdale Diner, they both suck. All their breakfast dishes are excellent. Lunch is pretty good, not crazy about their pickles, the cole slaw is ok. Sometimes, when they're filled to capacity.... there might be a delay, it can be hit or miss in this regard. The bathroom is clean albeit claustrophobic. Overall the "Chi" is good here read more

Here's a novel idea, care about the food you expect people to pay for, to come back for. Wandered in on a weekday, my want to support local business overriding my better judgement. I was met with an entirely empty diner, the silence broadcasting everything I needed to know about the place; run far away. The staff there seemed largely uninterested in tending to the only customer brave enough to come in that afternoon. Ordered a cheeseburger deluxe, medium rare to go. Watched the fella working the grill wander off and cackle continuously with the wait staff. Jokes on you, you actually came in to order something. The place is cute, the staff is friendly, the food is good. BUT THEY ARE SO SLOW!!!! Service is slow regardless of how full or how empty the restaurant is. This is really a pity, we would come more often if they were a bit faster, like diners usually are. Great neighborhood place. The waitresses make you feel like they know you and care. Elise the waitress is pure positive energy she cares about the customer. When I was choosing elise recommended the turkey pizza burger and it was delicious . The turkey was fresh the sauce & mozzarella topped it fabulously. Sweet potato fries perfectly done. I always orderED, from Tiny's diner. Today I ordered pancakes for my father and I and they tasted off. I don't know, it tasted like something was spoiled inside, specifically spoiled milk. My father called to complain and they wanted the food back which is all good and well because no one wants spoiled food but then the young woman on the phone accused my father of wanting free food. First off I told my father to just ask for his money back because, who would trust the integrity of a place who serves off tasting food? Secondly, why would you even want to order from a nasty woman on the phone accusing him of wanting free food? We order from this place often but now forget it. I'm already starting to feel my stomach bubble from half of the spoiled pancake. Although our wait for breakfast at the diner has been long at times (once, a 30 minute wait for eggs), I really can't complain about this place. The food is quality - well prepared and delicious. I love that they have Irish bacon on the menu and always upgrade to this when we're there. So much tastier and substantial than our American bacon. They even offer almond milk for your coffee if you're lactose intolerant. In such a 'vintage' style space, this is a very contemporary offering. My husband and I have ordered delivery from them twice. The first time was absolutely perfect. I love a place that takes into consideration that you don't package food for delivery the same way you'd send it out on a plate. Hot and cold items were separated. It was all packaged with care and the food was outstanding. We ordered chicken souvlaki and a couple of other items. This past weekend, we did a repeat delivery order. This time, one of the items was incorrect. Usually I'd ask for a credit for next time, but we literally had no groceries and I wanted to eat what I had ordered. Tiny's apologized and sent a replacement item that arrived within 20 minutes of my call, even including a complimentary fruit salad for our troubles. What great service! This place is super cute and the people who work here are really nice. I've been here twice. Once I picked up an egg and cheese to go and it was great. Today I went in because the bagel shop next door was closed and since it was a bazillion degrees, I stayed in for breakfast with my 3 year old. I ordered standard diner fare--eggs florentine for me and a waffle with strawberries for her. My dish was OK, no problems. However, my daughter's waffle was literally topped with FERMENTED and MOLDY strawberries. I noticed immediately they were fermented and when I went to pick them off, I saw that actually several of them were moldy too! This is all kinds of WTF. I mean, why can't they just say 'we're out of strawberries'? And for the cook to prepare it this way and the waiter to not know it was inedible--which I could see immediately--just gives me pause. In short, it freaked me out. But it also freaked out the management who DID respond to this review and was quite appalled also...so maybe i will try them again but still it was shocking to see what was put on that waffle! read more

I ordered from Tiny's using grub hub and asked for an ice cream sundae - in the notes i asked for the works (whip cream, sprinkles, etc since it would be for a birthday). I was surprised and just really happy that someone at TIny's was kind enough to tape a small candle to the top of the sundae. I'm sad to say today was probably my last day coming to this diner. I frequently go after the gym with my wife and today we were blessed another day to have this clueless waitress. And it sucks because they have amazing food. But every time I go there we always get this frantic waitress with not a clue in world how to serve a table. What a real gem! After too many visits to Blue Bay we decided to try the other diner on the hill - Tiny's. What a great experience! The food was better, the staff was more attentive, the prices were better, and they had specialty offerings like organic eggs and non-dairy milk. It's farther for us to visit than Blue Bay, but we'll take the walk. It's simply a better place to eat. read more

We live in the neighborhood and didn't want to go far in the rain. Were simply looking for a regular breakfast...However, first food took forveeeeeeever to come, it was just eggs and home fries.. Coffee was bland, I asked for Splenda, the waitress said brb and never came back with it. The fountain soda is watered down. I ordered an omelette with onions and peppers. The onions and peppers were burnt within the omelette. I could hardly taste the eggs because of it. The bacon i asked for wasn't cooked right and had a weird sweet taste to it (which I think should've been specified when I asked for Turkey bacon. Overall I was very disappointed here and will never come here again. This place needs better management and definitely doesn't deserve more than one star...maybe not even one. Tiny's food is more than just delicious. There's nothing better than tasting food that brings back memories of Grandma's home cooking. Food cooked with love and passion. Whether its their breakfast burrito, daily dinner specials (with soup and salad and desert - not either/or), grilled chicken and avocado wrap or Tiny's steak sandwich every bite will be a wonderful delight. Yet another average place to eat in Riverdale! Nothing particularly bad or good, just your average run of the mill place which is sadly quite the norm around this parts. I tried quesadillas and a chicken panini with fries. Average is really the only thing that comes to mind. The place is small with a kinda cheap Johny Rockets knock off look. On a positive note, the service was good and the wait for the food was fine. However for burgers and fries i'll stick to Yo Burguer, for paninis ill stick to Riverdale Diner and for quesadillas ill stick to Santa Fe. read more

We've only ever eaten the greek food here, and it's been tasty. Spinach pie with actual spinach and not some mushy, over-cheesed mess and gyros that have all the typical fixings. They used to be my go-to place when they first opened but service has declined steadily. They always forget something in the order, or get something wrong. I have now had at least 2 deliveries cancelled after waiting 2 hours before calling and asking for a status. Both times they had not even made the food yet, not even an excuse of "it's going out next" so I know they don't even care. My boyfriend has now asked me to stop giving them chances and we order from Blue Bay on Johnson Ave now. I have been a resident in Riverdale for the past few years and often frequent diners/brunch spots around the area. If you are looking for diner food in the riverdale area, this is definitely the place to go. The food is very typical of diners. That said, it is always reliable and consistent not to mention delicious. Service is reasonably quick even at peak hours, and everyone is very hospitable. I definitely recommend the tiny's french toast and the breakfast burrito. Fresh squeezed orange juice is always a plus. read more
