This is the quintessential greasy spoon. Small, down and dirty (figuratively) ambiance with a deep menu, solid food and friendly service. Coffee was good, refills were fast. The tuna melt was barebones yet quite satisfying. The coleslaw was dialed in. Staff was nice but were not as polished/experienced as I would have expected. That said, I will go back when I am next in the area. read more

This diner is by far has some of the nicest people working there. The cook in the morning is a first class one of a kind guy. He truly cares about the food and the his customers. It's sad when you go to other diners and all they care about is the wrong people. Tinys loves to take care of his regulars, in fact they know my family are early birds and doesn't mind letting them in a few minutes early so they can sit in from the cold. They go above and beyond always to make sure my family is happy and always leaving full. Yes they are a little pricey, but it's riverdale and honestly what's not pricey now. The egg prices are absolutely ridiculous now and if you buy them your self you are paying an arm and a leg. I don't mind paying a little more especially when you are valued and cared for. The lunch and dinner I don't find the greatest but the breakfast by far is very good. read more

I was in the Bronx today looking for a place for breakfast and I happened upon Tinys Diner. This little spot made us an Excellent breakfast. I had the French toast made with challah bread and it was so good I ate the whole thing. I never finish my breakfast but this time I practically licked the plate. Then I asked the guy if he could make an egg cream and he said, "could I ever". He made us some egg creams that tasted like the ones I used to get when I was a teenager. This little spot was not so Tiny after all. Highly recommended... read more

My sister, her boyfriend, and I came here for bfast. It was not crowded. We waited over 40 minutes for an omelette, challah french toast, and a tuna melt. When we asked our waiter where our food was he said it was coming and then I saw him arguing with the cook bc the food slip was clearly lost. Instead of coming over and just apologizing and telling us what happened, he lied and said something about them running out of challah bread. then we got our food and my tuna melt had a black hair in it that looked like a pube. We got the bill, we were still charged for the challah French toast which we never even got (it was regular white bread) and they didn't take the tuna melt off. Wtf is wrong w these people. No apology and no adjustment to the bill!!!!????? NOT coming back. I had to leave 1 star but I wanted to leave 0. read more

I had dinner tonight with my mom at Tiny's. Honestly, it was heartbreaking to watch Kim, who is lovely and works her butt off, struggling to wait on 4 or 5 tables, bus her own tables, handle the cash register, and manage all of the takeout orders and the problems that were happening on the takeout apps. Management is clearly expecting one person to do four jobs. It's a disgrace. I have been going to this restaurant for most of my life and tonight was the first time I felt like I didn't want to go back. The service is horribly slow because one person can't juggle running a busy restaurant all by herself. Overworking the staff to death is like watching a small animal being tortured. The customers suffer because management is too cheap to hire more help. It's very sad that a restaurant so integral to Riverdale is going down the tubes due to poor management. Your staff can't do it alone. read more

My review was five years ago. I have since visited once in 2022 and called in an order. My in person experience was negative, I sat at the counter for literally 10 minutes before even anybody acknowledged my presence. I understand they were busy but they literally avoided looking at me even though they were less than a foot away. That's not how you welcome people to your business. I also watched them arguing with each other unnecessarily behind the counter. I also called in an order and sat on the line for well over 15 minutes back-and-forth and never got through. So I can't recommend this business anymore you'll have to rely on more recent reviews. read more

THE ESTABLISHMENT IS JUST PLAIN #######GHETTO!!!! Once upon a time it was AVERAGE today however, it is SUB PAR. They don't get the orders right. I always liked the Florentine omelette here, and the shakes were good too. Unfortunately, they play Fox News constantly. With two TVs in such a small place, and the sound frequently on, it's like they're trying to intentionally drive away anyone who doesn't agree with their politics. Well, it worked on me. read more

WAS WAS WAS a great place to eat... but after a change in ownership the once clean diner has quickly fallen into a state of despair :( Don't expect management to care as complaints get a rebuttal of attitude and curt unapologetic responses. June 16th, 11am: Was delivered a veggie omelet with A HAIR WRAPPED UP IN IT ! I didn't order any hair... but management didn't seem to care one bit Quite nasty when you see a scraggly strand of hair with the ROOT still attached Point is the health code sticker "A" they proudly display as a mark of cleanliness is in fact a fat "F" in disguise Don't order ... unless you like hairy food !! read more

A Reason for Day's Perfection Why is it that the meals we order for ourselves are always so much saltier than the meals we prepare at home? "It is a melancholy truth that even great men have poor...[coffee machines]." Dickens "You will hear the beat of a horse's...[tummy]." Kipling "All great truths begin as...[bacon]." Shaw "Man is the only animal that...[brunches]...or needs to." Twain Maybe the mistake is believing there could exist such a thing as a perfect breakfast, or worse yet hoping it could change the course of your day or life for the better. I've been ordering from Tiny's Diner for years. And "I ain't seen nothin' change." "The [breakfasts of ours] that have gone before [this] cannot steady the unrest of those to follow." From the menu: EGGS FLORENTINE: Two poached eggs with creamy spinach and feta on an English muffin with Hollandaise sauce. Served with home fries or grits. Here is the order to eat this order while wearing your socks inside out for comfort: You eat your first bite with your heart. And you eat the rest with your mouth. No thinking - that comes later. Sip the coffee. Slice the eggs. Scoop the spinach. Munch the hash browns! Yes. "You're the [satiated] man now, dawg!" Okay...truth be told, this food doesn't even taste that good. Conclusion: Having no food in our fridge obliges us to find our food - not always the food that is the tastiest, but the food that can become healthy blood cells and organs. And should we have the wisdom to open our kitchen to this lifestyle, we will find that the wishes we once had to relive our Proustian memories through salty snacks and sugary drinks can do nothing to reverse the arrow of time - the only thing left to say will be I wish I had looked after my health or I wish I had spent my money making memories for loved ones or I wish- Well, most of you are too oblivious to know what your wishes will be, but when I eat my meals - ingredients to provision my hopes and dreams - I realize that the one wish that was granted to me so late in life was the gift of self-discipline...and perhaps one day a healthy homemade Hollandaise sauce.. Came with the wife and kid after leaving her job, she decided to try this place as it seems cozy. We walked in and 3 employees saw us, looked at us and then looked the other way and never said, sit here or there or sit anywhere u want. We decided to sit ourselves next to the blond waitress(sorry did not get her name) and waited. I went out, moved the car and parked 1 block away and get back to my wife still waiting to be brought menus or water or a high chair or at least say, i will be with you shortly. None of that happened so i got up and asked the guy behind the counter that was next to the blond lady.. I need a menu, he is like sorry and puts his phone away. then another girl comes and says i will be with you and we are "ok, maybe its better". She comes back and takes our order and we also asked for a baby cup as they dont seem to realize we have a 2 year old there.. We wait and wait and wait wondering why it took 15+ minutes to get pancakes and their special of the day and 1 omelette with american cheese (never get this).. Food comes in, looks great and taste great. we now see 7 people manning the front and kitchen but place is not packed, someone that looked like the owner as he was just standing by doing nothing and the other with the phone still ( maybe family). I dont get it, its not packed, your food is good why not give a great service???? Im not coming back, specially when who seems to be the owner or manager is the one showing the employees bad habits. read more

Back when this place was Blue Moon and Dennis was the cook there was a waiter who knew my order backwards and forward. Sadly since becoming Tiny's the place has gone down hill. The first problem is the pricing. I know Riverdale is expensive but no way should an omelette be over $8 Everything is just priced through the roof. MichaelAnn and Ashanti are great. It is great that Dennis is here too. However the quality of the food is meh. I ordered a Penne a La Vodka which came with chicken. The chicken was rubbery and the sauce was flavorless. Next was a florentine omelette. Mind you the menu states Feta Cheese, Spinach and eggs. Yet mine had onions which was making me sick. I got an iced tea to drink and that had a funny taste to it. My Mother got a tuna wrap and small coffee. The total? $60+ and along with tip almost $75 The prices need to be lowered. The menu needs better specification of what is included. Lastly the size of the text in the menu needs to be bigger. I will just stay with breakfast items and go here and there. If things improve I'll rescore the review. Until then a 2 is the best i can give for the staff. read more

Is this diner operating under new management? I have gone to Tiny's Diner a few times and while it's by no means well presented or delicious, it satisfies that diner craving. After picking up my order and opening at home ... wow! What a disappointment. We ordered egg white omelettes and got this weird textured, tasteless egg scramble thing and the pancakes were burnt and falling apart. For $28, I expected at the very least proper omelettes and presentable, tasty pancakes. I will definitely put Tiny's on pause indefinitely. That's a shame, it was my quick 'go to' for diner type food that was somewhat edible. I am being generous with 2 stars for this specific order. I never really write these reviews unless I'm thrilled with the experience or extremely disappointed. I'm extremely disappointed! read more

Most likely, this will be my last review of Tiny's. We were pleasantly surprised when we did 2 orders back in February. They were great and prompt. I revised my previous review, from October 2012. Once again, I am revising it. From our third order until today, they have gotten more careless with each order, ie left things out, and we're no longer prompt. We were ready to give them benefit of the doubt, but it is happening too often. I will stick with the last three orders, fir my review. Three orders ago, we ordered gyros, no onions because of allergies. Not only did it have onions, but it was mostly onions. I also received onion rings, not curly fries. A huge slap in the face. Last order, I ordered a buffalo burger with bacon. I got cheese with it. I am lactose intolerant, so that was a waste. My wife asked for her burger to be medium, she got a burnt, puck. She could not eat it. A total waste of money. Today's order, I got a chicken gyro. No onions this time, but it was mostly lettuce and tomatoes. Three small slices of meat for the whole thing. They also forgot to send my fries. When they arrived, my curly fries were burnt and inedible. We tried to give them a fair shot and the benefit of the doubt, but not anymore. We will not waste our money there anymore. We were more than fair. I wish that we did not have to give them even one star. read more

if i could give no stars i would. save yourself the headache and never order from here!!! , i call some guy takes my "order" gets it completely wrong. i ordered (2) eggs / bacon with fries guess what i got eggs and fries wtf???? my co worker ordered french toast & the shit wasn't even cooked. also a coffee i asked for 2c 2s .. lol i get a black coffee ... so i call someone and i'm being passed around to multiple people , oh please hold please hold" finally get a waitress who is more concerned about losing my facility as customer than the jerk manager. i over hear the cook yell in the back that if someone wants their french toast well done they have to say that..... bottom line i got my refund back and never again. never ordering from this shitty place... read more

I am at a loss as to how anyone can give this place five stars and not feel guilty for dishonoring the Yelp review system. I have tried Tiny's three times now and every time they have found new ways to disappoint. The servers still act as if it's their first day waiting tables. The food takes a very long time to arrive, and when it does there's inevitably a problem or difference from what the menu states. I ordered a breakfast entree today (which was misspelled on the menu, [South of the Boarder, are we on a ship, or is this a youth hostile?] that described eggs on black beans. When it came it was on Heinz Baked Beans. Baked Beans! With Salsa and eggs, was what they brought me. My wife's pancakes tasted of soap. They told us they were having problems with the stove. Maybe they thought the dishwasher was the stove for a minute. There are some good ideas here, the menu is interesting and not over-priced. The space is nice, if somewhat garish. Every element of the execution is wrong, however. The servers are fundamentally terrible in every way, despite meaning well: They don't know the menu They don't communicate what comes with the dish you're ordering They openly squabble about tables in front of customers, this is probably due to a lack in structure regarding the pooling and distribution of tips which needs to be done on a managerial level They regularly drop food at the wrong tables (of which there are only twelve or so) There is clearly no standard operating procedure for them to work with, that is to say: when a customer leaves you clear the table, then set it up again for the next customer before you move on. For a place with a high rate of turnover like a diner in Riverdale this is absolutely essential. No amount of kitsch (pictures of Clark Gable or Captain America) will make up for a clear and overwhelming lack of organization. One experienced server could handle that entire place with no problem and make a decent living in tips, but two inexperienced people on the floor creates an unacceptable number of mistakes and half the money for each person. The place runs like it's the first restaurant on Earth and they're just now trying to figure out how serve six or seven people eggs and bread at the same time. Tiny: for you to be in business for more than a year you've got to fix your sloppy fundamentals. Everyone in the neighborhood wants you to succeed. I propose you spend more time interviewing servers and training your staff and less time picking out ever-changing colored lights for behind the counter. read more

I have been here on several occasions. The first time I sat in one of their comfy booths, the second time I at at the counter area. Both times I found service was great. My wife and I went for lunch and were hoping that it was going to be good. It was not busy when we came in, but got busier as we stayed. I was happy for them since we are in need of a new diner in the area. We were greeted kindly and immedately but unfortunately that is where the good part of the meal ended. My wife ordered a pastrami sandwich on rye, and I ordered 2 eggs up with sausage and whole wheat toast. It took 30 minutes to get our food and when it arrived my wife's sandwich was on a roll and one of my eggs was fully fried. we did not have time or the incentive to have them change it since it took 30 minutes or them to get it for us in the first place. as we were leaving, on e of the other customers started complaining about the wait and the waiter started to talk back to the customer in a rather loud and petulant voice (having been in food service for 20 years I know that is not how to handle the situation). I would like to be kinder in my scoring of this new restaurant, but I cannot. The atmosphere was nice but considering what we ordered, there should have been no wait. The food was OK and the service was pretty dreadful. read more

Just not worth it. Went on a Sunday morning They had 1 cook short. Do they bother to tell you when you order? of course not. Just kept us waiting......and waiting....and waiting.....and waiting...40 minutes later, after my wife and the rest of the place had their food served, they condescend to bring me what i ordered....I turned it back... It's simple: a manager manages: if there's a problem, he/she attends to it...because in business it is managing customer expectations that bring good or bad reviews.... the waitress yelled at me, (I dont need be told to do my job) the manager ignored me....I had asked after our food after 25 minutes, 30 minutes.... and when there was no food and no answer but "it;'s coming"...and it doesn't show up....heck egg dishes don't take that long to cook do they? This place just isn't worth it..a shame..the food is good...and it's really clean.... But hassles in mismanagement make it a no-go. read more

I'm PIST! Just ordered a $15 wrap from this place. I started to eat the well presented wrap. But unfortunately the chicken was chewy and hard. It's didn't seem like old chicken and didn't seem undercook. So I decided to call to inform them and request a new wrap be sent. Until this point no biggie. But here was their response: Sorry we don't exchange food. I got upset and told them that wasn't aceptable. Then she said she would talk to the chef "Dennis" of whom also said no exchanges. He said no one else had complaint about any chicken today, therefore they won't be sending me a new wrap. I asked manager and they said they were all gone for the day. Then I asked for a refund and the waitress said that was impossible. I again expressed how unacceptable this was, especially since it was a $15 wrap. I said I wanted a refund again and she then proceeded to say "we can t refund you, but you can come and get a new wrap." I told her it was a delivery and that I am home with my 2 babies. Not sure if mentioning the kids changed her mind. So she then proceeded to say they would make the new wrap but that it would take over an hour for delivery. In any event, your policy SUCKS! And after all that back and forth, I would never eat your food again! Glad Yelp exist so we can help other diners avoid these types of establishments. read more

I been here couple of times and compared to other diners in the neighborhood, I wouldn't pick Tiny's Diner as my first option. I came for breakfast the first time they opened, and I wasn't impressed with the food or the service. However, I decided to give this place a second shot, because I do love the warm, cozy setting it provides. The service definitely got better, and the workers pay much more attention to their customers, yet I was disappointed by their food. I got an omelet and my friend got panini and both dishes were too salty. My omelet was dry and the content inside my omelet was nonexistent. My friend's panini was so soggy that he couldn't even pick it up. I probably won't be going back (at least for a long time). -giving 3 stars bc service improved, and hopefully their food can too. read more

So my review is for a delivery order. First time ordering from this place. The delivery guy came within quoted time frame and was very pleasant. I ordered a turkey burger with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Also ordered a cheeseburger and buffalo burger for others. The packaging was a bit sloppy as the three cole slaw were packaged together, with no tops and mayo spilling all over. Hence the reason for the three stars. The burger was absolutely delicious! 10/10. I was told the other burgers were just as good. Not so sure about delivery but you have got to try their burgers read more

I've been here multiple times since they have opened up, and honestly have nothing to complain about. I thoroughly enjoy it every time. Top quality bacon -- who can go wrong with that?!? I'm not even a fan of bacon, but i'm sure to order a side to enjoy. I had the best caesar salad with grilled chicken. The grilled chicken was cooked to perfection and juicy. Wide, wide range of options and choices. The names of dishes are granted, creative. The owner is ALWAYS there. Any complaints or compliments take it to him. He's friendly and helpful.
