A friend of mine recommended Tiny Champions it's me a bit ago and it's been on my list to try for a while. We went on a Sunday evening and found that there was surprised it was a 20 minute wait. We said to ourselves this place must be good. When they finally called our name and they let us to our table I was surprised to see it was at least five empty tables around the restaurant. Not sure why we had to wait if there was five tables open, but it is what it is. We got seated and ended up having to wait a good five plus minutes before the waitress came over to say hi or even take our drink order. Right after they took our order, they sat a party of four next to us and within 30 seconds the waitress was over taking a drink order. We ordered a sausage pizza and the chicken milanese appetizer. Both were decent. When it was time for the check, I had to flag the waitress down and still ended up having to wait to a bit to get the check. When we were leaving, they had to be 20 people standing outside, waiting to get in. Seriously I don't get it. I am not sure why people are waiting for average food and super slow service. Houston is a big city with a lot of really good restaurants that have great food and good service. There is an apartment complex right next-door so maybe if that's the only place you can walk to get dinner, that's where you're going to go but seriously don't waste your time. read more

Came here with a friend on a Saturday night with a reservation for the outdoor patio seating. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. The interior vibe is like a classy dim-lit Italian dining experience while the outdoor patio feels like a spacious garden lit with string lights and plenty of seating. We ordered the fennel sausage pizza and the creamy risotto, both of which tasted very good. The pizza had a cripsy thin crust and tasted like a solid combination style pizza. The creamy risotto was my favorite, there was a hint of lemon/lime and the dish was very umami. I would recommend trying this. The prices are a little expensive for what it is though, $24 for a medium size pizza albeit high quality and $21 for the risotto which the portion size was a little small in my opinion. Overall, great experience, but personally the pizza did not blow me away for the price. read more

I finally had a reason to come and eat here with friends for a birthday celebration. We decided to do it family style, we share all of the food, so we just let the birthday man order everything. So we can all try a little bit of everything. The pizza here is definitely the star all of the pizza I tried were great. Since this is more like a date night place the lighting in the restaurant is dark. Our server was really professional. He made sure to refill the water. The other food was all delicious. They fit right in here in EaDo, a reclaimed and repurposed exterior and interior gives off an almost unfinished vibe. Street side parking is what you're working with just as a heads up. One small thing was that they didn't have a high chair for your little ones; come prepared if you have a small child with you. The wait staff was very friendly and offered to go through the menu with our table and explain what's new and popular. Answered all questions and made suggestions. The food was prepared quickly and came out super fresh, as the runners explained what all was on the plate. Drinks were super tasty, and they even offer mock-tails, along with a good spread of wines at expected price points. The pizzas are a good shareable size and the pastas are a good personal portion. Had 4 adults at the table and we had 3 pizzas and 2 pastas and maybe had just a touch left over. That was after a few starters. We sat at the bar and had a great time. The bartender was super friendly and made it a very welcoming environment. We got the fennel sausage pizza with their fancy ranch (dill based ranch so if you like pickles you'll love it), espresso martini and the pistachio cookies with ice cream. The Espresso Martini was served in a chilled glass which not all restaurants do and it also had a hint of Madagascar vanilla which was a plus! Everything was delicious! I did not know what to expect when I came here. Some decent pizza I guess? We had Dre as our server and she was awesome. She checked on our table LOADS and made sure we had everything at every time. We ordered Olives and the Baked feta to start which held us off for the main number. The Salami Picante and Summer Corn pizzas were truly some fantastic suggestions. WOW!!! Just when I thought we couldn't top that she suggested her "Dre special dessert" and our mouths were watering. Tiny Champions is on the top of my list of neighborhood dining destinations in the East End. We prefer happy hour (Tue-Thu 5-6pm) for half-off all round pizzas, half-off all wines by the glass, select $5 cocktails and select $3 beers, and East Coast oysters by the half dozen. Wednesday offers Detroit-style pizzas 5pm to close. We always start with a few salads. The GREEN SALAD is LIFE. It's a mix of fresh greens, some sort of tangy yogurt-based dressing, herbs, shallots, and the perfect amount of acid - it's almost impossible to share this plate. Please never remove this from your menu, Tiny Champions! (Or, the very least, teach us how to make this simple and delicious salad.) We also like the shaved mushroom salad, and the linguini (made with marcona almonds, tomato, feta, chili, mint). These three, we always order. And perhaps a 'za. Most recently, we ordered a new menu item, which was a tomato-based spaghetti and clams topped with crushed red pepper croutons. Deeelish. You can expect a wait, especially Thursday through the weekend. They have outdoor, indoor, and bar seating. Why 4 stars? Because they certainly turn out some high quality food here. --- --- --- My friends and I had tickets to a comedy show Downtown, that we purchased months ago. Approximately 45 seconds after purchasing those tickets, I opened Yelp and sent my friends several nearby eateries that I had bookmarked. We ultimately opted to make Tiny Champions our official pre-Comedy meal and we were all pretty satisfied with that decision. Getting off the interstate, I quickly realized that I had never been in this particular area before. It was certainly not the greatest of neighborhoods, but before I knew it, things had suddenly transformed into something much nicer. I guess that's EaDo in a nutshell? When we arrived, we knew we had to order at least a couple of pizzas. We nearly ordered the anchovy pizza, but the server pointed out, quite clutchly, that this was a no-sauce pizza. Which is weird, because on the online menu, the ingredients are listed as "anchovy filets, tomato sauce, sliced garlic and salsa verde." Maybe the online menu is different, but either way, we pivoted and ordered a ricotta cream base + a shrimp pizza. In all honesty, I was not head over heels with either pizza, but I think it was more about the toppings, than anything else. The quality of the dough was amazing. I'd love just a basic prosciutto and mozzarella pie on this dough (note: owners of Tiny Champions!) We also ordered some pork sausage as an appetizer, which was fine -- nothing special, just standard sausage. But in the interest of saving the best for last: you cannot come here without ordering the fried scamorza cheese. We had never heard of scamorza before. Wikipedia labels it "a Southern Italian cow's milk cheese." Brett N labels it effing delicious. It was like the highest-grade fried mozzarella ball you could ever fathom. I also ordered a Curtain Call to drink which has rye, madeira, cacao, banana and macadamia. I do not like whiskey, and I had to Google what madeira was (fortified wine), but I was willing to roll the dice because of my love for all of the other ingredients. And I was quite happy with it. It still had hints of the "put hair on your chest" feeling that comes from whiskey, but the other delicious things cancelled that out quite a bit. I'd happily drink this again. I'd consider this restaurant a hidden gem since its location is where you'd least expect. I dined on a Friday night for a friend's birthday and there were 8 of us total. We decided on ordering dishes family style to sample a little bit of everything. The focaccia bread was absolutely amazing! It had cloves of roasted garlic baked into it and was a great starter. We also shared the fried scamorza cheese. They're basically fried cheese balls but the cheese pull is stretchier. Scamorza is a milder cheese so definitely dip it in the marinara sauce for some added flavor. The two pastas we ordered were the rigatoni and the linguini. Between the two, I definitely preferred the rigatoni because it tasted heartier with the beef and pork. The linguini had a very zesty flavor which was probably from the mint so it may surprise you at first try. If you're planning on dining family style, 4 people shared one plate and it was enough for everyone to try. As for the pizza, our table ordered the fennel sausage and cheese pizzas. Both were absolutely delicious and I also enjoyed the pizza dough. I'm partial to a thinner pizza so I can eat more without feeling like I'm overloading on carbs. Parking can be a bit of a hassle but there is street parking available. Plan ahead and make reservations in advance. read more

Reservations are needed on the weekends, but it's a bit easier to walk-in on the weekdays. Parking is never great on the street, but it is possible. Holy Pepperoni! Tiny Champions is super delicious and very trendy. Met up with with my Foodie in crime, Cousin to Check out the latest and greatest of Houston eateries. We were not disappointed. I was super early for our dinner so I went in expecting to have to wait at the bar or outside but nope. They seated me immediately. And of course I had reservations! This is a must here because Tiny Champions is not a very big restaurant. Our servers and the staff were amazing. Always very attentive and never had to ask for anything. The FOOD!! OMG! I never had a pizza with honey on it. This evening i did. And I ate it all. I couldn't believe how good this pizza tasted. Wow!! The olives and spaghetti dish we had was also amazing. Maybe the best pizza in Houston! Finally came here and tried their happy hour (t/w/th from 5-6pm). Suggest getting a reservation online although we had no problem walking in 5:30 on a Tuesday evening. We got the pepperoni, pineapple/smoked ham, greens (ricotta, kale) pizzas for around $10 each. My friend also got one of the cocktails, Lock & Key, which is a fruity gin drink. All pizzas were perfect with quality toppings and the crust was amazing on each with a great balance of crunch and chew. The only thing is they are very greasy and oily, but you can dab off the grease if you desire. Pizzas were 13-14 inches each. I tried a sip of Lock & Key and it was very flavorful and fruity w only a hint of alcohol. Ambience of the restaurant was nice with candles and string lights. Staff were all nice. Pizza was good and crispy, but the bottom of our anchovy pizza was hella oily dripping too much than any normal pizza. The Caesar salad was great, I like the tomato addition. I forgot the ball thing I ordered but it's a ball of nice gooey cheese, loved it. The octopus pasta was flavorful and cooked al dente.
