Tin Fish This was our first time here. We came because a friend loved the place. So we arrived and are informed that it will be a 15 minute wait for a table inside. As we see people leaving and tables being clean we continued to wait longer than initially advised. We are seated and we tell the waitress what we would like to eat. A party of four comes in order their food and 10 minutes later have there food. Okay, we order carb cakes for appetizer, grilled snapper and a fried fish and shrimp platter. 20 minuets later the waitress comes back to our table and ask us to repeat the order. Now she was there for the initial order. This tells me our order was never put in the first time. So we waited but as we wait. The waitress and cooks are having very loud conversations about the waitress going to the freezer getting the fries and she dropping in the fryer herself. My husband stated that he will come back because the food was good. Me I'm not sure about going back. I'm very big on services. Oh we never was offer the free sample. I heard our same waitress offer it to a new customer. So I need to add that we received a $20 gift card for our experience here. read more

They have both outside seating area and inside. Good option for seafood. The drinks are OK. Very cool atmosphere where the chef is out in the open and comes around occasionally. Oysters are fresh and the grilled oysters are phenomenal. read more

Let's start with the good. Their oysters are really good. Juicy. Meaty. Fresh. A dozen oysters (including freshly grated horseradish, Tabasco, cocktail sauce) is $20 and well worth it. I also got a dozen of their dirty oysters (dressed with red caviar, creme fraiche, and onions). Can't get enough of their oysters, for real. I also got a cup of the clam chowder. Nothing to really rave about there, it's your typical clam chowder. But those oysters...wow. But to get to even try those oysters were a battle in itself. A couple of my friends got there first and grabbed a table for a total of 8 people. My friends said that the restaurant was empty. We got there and looked at the menu and waited to order. Then we waited some more. We waited 30 minutes to order. 30 minutes later, the waitress comes up to us and says that their oyster shucker went home and that there was only one chef on staff tonight. She ensured us that we would get our oysters, because the one chef on staff would shuck them for us. About 30 minutes later, we finally got our regular dozen oysters and then 20 minutes after that, we got our dirty dozen. When our dirty dozen was dropped off, the waitress told us that the chef hasn't had a chance to start making the rest of the food our party ordered an hour and a half ago. EXCUSE ME? You do not tell a group of 8 hungry people that the food we ordered nearly an hour and a half ago hasn't been started. At that point, we were done with Tin Fish. We paid for what already came out, cancelled the rest of our order, and left. Thank goodness for Chick-Fil-A, because that's where my friends and I went for dinner after the dismal service at Tin Fish. With service like that, I'm surprised Tin Fish is still a running restaurant. read more

We live near to Tin Fish but never ate there. Wife and I decided to have a date night. My wife had 1/2 dozen oysters to start with and I had the New England Clam chowder. Our main dish was the tacos ahi tuna, chicken, and kaboom shrimp. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere. We sat at the bar and the owner was very friendly and had a lot of recommendations. We will be definitely coming back. read more

Sadly this was MY LAST try at this place. We went with a party of 7 (3 adults and 4 kids). After waiting nearly 2 hours for our entrees, they brought the meals out one at a time, 10-15 minutes between servings. Our 6 year old for her meal LAST. When we complained to Gypsy the manager she said she'll take care of us. She promptly brought us a check for $246!!! Really!?!?! After a little more discussion they cut the bill in half....but honestly it WAS NOT worth the BS. We were out to celebrate and spend some serious money, but we certainly weren't going to pay for lousy service, cold food and a non-receptive staff. It's sad, because the place really could be awesome. Sadly, we won't be back. read more

Tin Fish is new, taking the space next to Doris' market that was recently vacated by a failed restaurant. We are always looking for great new neighbourhood eateries and have been eager to try this one out since it opened. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. If you want a one-word summary it would have to be "bland". There were no specials on the menu on this Thursday night. We ordered some soups and conch fritters to start. The Lobster bisque was decent. The New England clam chowder (slopped rather unlovingly and messily into and over the bowl) was thick, pasty and flavourless, dotted with a few extremely rubbery clam pieces. The server noticed I wasn't eating mine and offered to swap it for Manhattan style. That was just as bad - like tomato soup with a clam or two tossed in. No flavour! The conch fritters were decent, but they had corn in them! Never come across that before. Didn't like that. Give me back my red and green bell peppers please! For the main I had the fish, shrimp and crab cake combo. All fried, with a light flour coating (no heavy batter, kudos for that). The french fries were limp and underdone. The cole slaw was okay - vinegar based dressing, but not southern style, just light. Didn't like the crab cake at all - dark meat, pasty (not lumps of crab meat, more like tuna salad). The Alaskan whitefish was .... well, a bland white fish. There were three shrimp and they were cooked very nicely. The cocktail sauce was good with a nice horseradish bite. The tartar sauce was like mayo with a few pickles thrown in. Service was good if a little shaky and nervous. Ambience is very casual, the metal chairs are pretty uncomfortable and we sat right next to the waiter station and they kept bumping into me (so bad table placement). I just don't get it with seafood restaurants like this using frozen fish from half way around the world. Where's the amberjack, pompano, wahoo, cobia, grouper, red snapper? Those fish should be taking center stage at a place like this. They do have gator on the menu here though! read more

Delicious and fresh seafood, great service and reasonable prices. My husband and I stopped in for lunch and left beyond stuffed and satisfied! We started with and order of their Kaboom Shrimp, which was recommended by our waitress, and they were delicious. Perfectly fried, succulent and tender shrimp inside with a yummy sweet Chile Thai sauce coating them on a bed of shredded cabbage. A definite must try! For our entrees my husband ordered their Gator platter and subbed onion rings for fries. Gator was perfectly cooked and so were the rings. Typically gator is a little more chewy than average game and their technique of cooking did not make it tough or more chewy, it was perfect. I ordered the Oyster Po Boy with fries; the sandwich was piled with perfectly cooked fried oysters, tomato, lettuce and topped with tartar and a drizzle of hot sauce. Yum! Additionally, I had been craving frog legs but didn't have any luck finding any on our area that served them, until today. Tin Fish has them on the menu and they are bomb! I've sampled frog legs at several establishments throughout south Florida and these were for sure the best! Succulent and meaty legs, cooked just perfectly (are you seeing the trend here with their perfect cooking? Haha) and accompanied with their Bistro sauce. Seriously just amazing! Overall everything we had was simply delicious and we can't wait to return to sample some of their other dishes as well as our newly acquired favorites. A definite gem! read more

Went for lunch on a Saturday. It was pretty early and not crowded at all. Maybe 3 or 4 tables. Was between snapper and grouper over greens and the waiter quickly said grouper so I went with that recommendation. Fish came out and it was obvious that it wasn't cooked. It was opaque on the outside. Not sure how whomever was cooking it couldn't see that. Sent it back and the same piece of fish came back after about ten minutes. The fish was cooked but it was either old and not fresh or it wasn't even grouper at all. Had the texture of monkfish if I'm being honest. It's a fairly common practice for restaurants to use a much less expensive fish instead of what they are claiming to sell. But maybe it was just old and that's why the waiter quickly recommended it as a way to get rid of it. Needless to say it was sent back and replaced with the tuna appetizer which was good but at $22 for maybe 3 ounces of fish and nothing else it's way overpriced. Don't see myself returning. read more

They do their best to please and the bartender makes really wicked custom drinks! His mixology skills are bar none!!!

In South Florida to attend a wedding and based off of a Yelp! search had stumbled onto this place and very glad that we did. The service, I think her name was Miranda (?), was great! She was attentive and very personable. We ordered the hush puppies, grilled mahi with shrimp, one dozen oysters, crab cakes and the key lime pie. 1. Hush puppies: awesome taste and nice and crisp. Paired well with what we can only assume was some sort or lard/butter thing? That last but might sound nasty but it was really good... 2. Oysters: tasted great, soaked in the brine and our server had suggested using crackers which was new to us. All in all very good but whoever shucked them didn't cleanly pull 'em all out and we couldn't cleanly slurp each oyster out... 3. Grilled Mahi and shrimp: one word = excellent! The shrimp has this like tomato salsa bit on it which just added to the overall flaver. The mahi was grilled to perfection... 4. Crab cakes: meh, it left much to be desired and have had better crab cakes that were pre-made at a grocery store... 5. Key lime pie: also one word = sucked... that said it's not like this place is a professional bakery but the slice was kind of small for the price and tasted like it came out of a box but can't bat 1.000 all the time, right? The service and main course were both amazing! I would recommend the oysters and skip on the dessert and crab cakes... read more

Pleasantly surprised with the food at Tin Fish. Went for the first time on Thursday night. My table Ordered 1/2 baked clams , 2 kaboom shrimp tacos and conch fritters. It was all well prepared and very tasty! The chef and server were friendly and accommodating but the food service was slow. The restaurant is small inside, some outdoor seating. The server did comp 2 cups of soup to table because the wait was long for the clams. So they did attempt to rectify the delay. That is more than I expected. I will definitely be back!! read more

Back again to our favourite place where Chef Joe continues to come up with new and delicious dishes. The service was good but not what I expected for the great reviews they have here. I had a couple of fish tacos which was ok...I thought it was a bit pricy that they charge $9 for two fish tacos that was just...ok...and $13 for small red snapper with cole slaw in a cup & side of french fries... I love fish but this was just ok... we sat outside and they served food in food truck type of plate/bowl which was a big turn off... I was excited to find this place with great review so close to our house but I don't think we'll go back... Nothing special in my opinion. read more

One word, excellent!!! We heard amazing things about this place & decided to stop in for lunch one day with another couple. We've been back several times since then and have never been disappointed. The owner/chef and the rest of the staff go out of their way to make sure your experience is top notch. During our first visit, I casually mentioned to our bartender/server that I did not eat seafood and if he had any recommendations for me. Shortly after, the chef/owner personally came out to greet me with food in hand and encouraged me to try a few samples. To my surprise... everything that I sampled, I actually enjoyed. I couldn't believe it. I walked into that restaurant for the first time that day with no intention of eating or ordering seafood and am so thankful for his kindness that day. That was truly an amazing experience! Since then, I have tried seafood at other establishments and truth be told, I have never liked any of it. The only place I will order seafood, enjoy it and actually eat it is at this restaurant. Everything is fresh and delicious. It sounds silly, I know, but it's the truth. Yesterday was my Husband's 40th birthday and they went above and beyond to make his special day, extra special. I should also mention that the margaritas are fantastic... a must try when you go! We were a large party (with kids) and they were attentive, patient and everything was perfect! It was truly a team effort by everyone. We all love the decor and the ambiance of the place. If you have never been here... you are missing out! This is hands down the best seafood restaurant in Broward County and potentially beyond. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Some people have mentioned that they're a little pricey, but I believe that they are priced fairly given their service, portions, the flavor and freshness of their food and drinks. You will not regret coming here for lunch or dinner! Thank you again to the entire Tin Fish family for always making our experience so enjoyable!!! read more

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. Owner is great and everything is sooooooo fresh. What a gold mine.

Best seafood in a looong time. Oh so fresh, it could have still been flapping. Was welcomed immediately by the owner, Joseph, who insisted I sample the homemade chowder and bisque, some steamed shrimp and a fish so good he served it sashimi style. All on the house, just because he's awesome. Everything was perfect, so memorable. The service and staff were friendly and attentive and the menu extensive. They even have great local beers (and cider!) on tap - who could ask for more? Headed back very soon Joe. To try the homemade cornbread I didnt have room for and to give ya a hug :) read more

Good seafood and friendly service at this joint tucked in a strip mall near the BB&T Center. The fried seafood (shrimp, oysters, calamari and frog legs) were delicious, and reasonably priced. Good gator bites and hush puppies. Loved the service too. Try the lobster bisque and oyster crackers.

I love seafood and have eaten at tin Fish a few times but my recent experience at this restaurant was horrific. I had went went out with a few friends expecting to have a fun fulfilled Friday but after my experience at tin fish our night was ruined. When we first arrived we were seated at table right away, but once we put in our orders that's when trouble had begun! Our appetizers came out at reasonable timing but our entrees took FOREVER! That evening we were waiting for our food for over 3 hours! Our overall order was fairly simple and was severely discombobulated. We will not be returning to this establishment any time soon for we had a very unfortunate fishy situation! read more

The food was very good. Generous portions and prices were reasonable. We ordered a Fisherman's Combo. It included two healthy sized pieces of fish, 3 or 4 enormous shrimp, and probably half a dozen of the largest clam strips I have ever seen. (Seriously they were each bigger than my fingers!) It was more than enough food for my son and I to share. It was clear that the fish was fresh. The breading was light and flavorful. The combo came with fries and cole slaw (also very good and I'm not normally a huge fan of slaw). We ordered conch fritters for our appetizer. They were tasty but not the usual Caribbean style. The batter was made of corn meal and had whole kernels of corn in it. It was more like a corn bread batter with conch in it. Yummy, just not what I am used to. Not sure how I feel about the bits of corn...but I would definitely order them again. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I was surprised at how busy the place was (it's not a huge restaurant but every table was full before we left) and how quickly the food came out. We will definitely be back. The menu has a lot to choose from so we have more to try!!! read more

The front desk staff and servers were very nice. Great oysters. However we were very disappointed with the rest of the food (we had lobster bisque and shrimp tacos). It was okay. It's a decent place but fell below my expectations. Perhaps the decor is a little more sophisticated than the dishes? I know that sounds like such a weird thing to say, but it subconsciously affects a person's expectations and appetite! It's a nice looking place, but the dishes seemed to be similar to like a Flannigans-type bar food. It could have totally been what I chose, but I didn't see many interesting dishes that weren't fried. If there were any, perhaps the waitress could have mentioned specials or popular dishes. I dunno. It wasn't a memorable experience and in all honesty I probably won't be back. I don't even remember what I ordered, just that it wasn't winning any awards. read more

Tried Tin Fish today for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. It was early for dinner, but I was surprised the place was empty. Then I saw the menu and was a little taken back by the prices. We ordered 5 conch fritters for $18.95 to start. The entries were more reasonably priced. A single draft beer was $8.00. I blew it off because everything is going up, right? The check came and I was surprised to see a 48 cent "liquor tax," I guess 6% on the $8.00 beer, and a $2.50 "CC Processing Fee" added to the total. The suggested tip started at 20% and seemed to be calculated on the total, including all taxes and fees. The waitress was good so I tipped a little more than the suggested 20%. The food was decent for the high prices. I just felt they were squeezing every nickle out of me with the added liquor tax and credit card fee. read more

Insane waits, forgetting dishes, forgetting beverages. Bringing young kids meals after everyone else has already finished. Poorly run business. read more

Very welcoming staff from the hostess, servers, bartender and kitchen staff. Lobster roll had perfectly cooked lobster on a pillow like bun. Also had the oyster po boy which were moist, not heavily breaded like many other oysters. We saw the chef come out a few times with sauce in a skillet and pour it on guest's dishes. Not sure what it was but made for a very welcoming environment. The bar selection of spirits is top notch. Not sure how but for a small place they have some hard to find spirits. Great job team Tin Fish! Keep it up! read more

This is the best fried shrimp that i have ever had in my eating career. The grilled fish that i partook in was the mixed grill and the season on the fish was so flavorful. There was also side sauces that he served with the fish that was wonderful. The tartare sauce was full of flavor. If you want the best carrot cake in the world please prove me wrong because this carrot cake was so moist and the shredded toasted coconut on-top. I must stop now because i am drooling on my iPhone screen. read more

What a great neighborhood fish joint! Ma Dukes and I went for an early dinner and it was also our first time. They gave us each a small sampling of fried whitefish over their signature slaw and it was delicious! That little bit really helped us gain direction as to what we wanted because we were unsure. There are no pictures on the menu and sometimes choosing can feel a little risky, you know? I got the oyster po boy and Ma got the fisherman's platter with whitefish, shrimp and clams. Both entrees were excellent. What I liked most about their fried items was that they weren't overly breaded or salty. Food came out quick and hot. The seafood tastes fresh and succulent. The service was nice and helpful. The ambiance for late afternoon was relaxing. My only gripe would be there was so much loud banter between servers on the floor around diners. It was a bit distracting but I suppose it can't be helped since the place is not incredibly large. Oh well. We will be back anyways! read more

Great food, great atmosphere and service! I had a full grouper and it was so delicious with this Asian glaze.
