Went last night for the first time and had a great meal! The waiter Marcos was wonderful! The food was delicious! Menu very large and easy to find numerous things we wanted to try. A little on the elder side customer wise, but nice time there and even spoke with a few people sitting around us. Everybody asked about my plate which was lobster tails (48$) with crab on top for only a 12$ add on. Linguini with clam sauce was delicious also. More than 20 clams in shells easy. Then the berry cobbler dessert cake was truly breathtaking! Must stop by this place for some seafood. I've heard lunches are good too, and saw a few great looking burgers pass. To be clear we never tried the food. We called ahead and they said no need for a reservation. Walked in on a Friday night and was dead. Seated promptly. I'm allergic to shrimp, scallops and clams and explained that. The hostess said they wouldn't guarantee anything served from potential cross contamination. Went on a rant about being sympathetic and her father having a similar allergy. Should have left then but stuck it out. Tried to order a burger. Waitress went outside to confer with the owner who visibly shook his head. Said they can't guarantee shrimp wasn't grilled. Moved on to pasta. A lot of them have shrimp as an optional add. Waitress went to the owner and he said no to that due to the use of the pans to cook the pasta. Went for a crabcake. Waitress asked the chef and confirmed I could eat all the ingredients. Asked if they could clean anything capable of going in the oven and to broil it. They said they couldn't guarantee that against cross contamination and wouldn't offer it. So we left. Tin Fish advertises as a scratch kitchen but couldn't make a change like broil instead of fry. Obviously they are concerned about their cleanliness, which gives me concern. I've been looking forward to trying this spot for a hot minute. We had a table for 9 which was ready immediately upon arrival. They were fully packed on a Friday night in the summer. A telling sign! I started out with a Blue Moon and they served us delicious croquettes while journeying through the menu. I went with the Special of the Day -- Key West style Bronzino, a Mediterranean Sea bass which included lemon, Hewlitt Slaw and Tin Fish seasoned rice. Delicious! Some of the other orders that stuck out on the table were the Tin Fish Lobster Roll and their sushi. This is a great spot to add to future Happy Hour journeys. I was so excited to come here with my family! We made a reservation for a Friday night and it was popping!! The restaurant itself is beautiful with a nice seating area with plenty of tables and a large bar with TVs and some high tops. We started with multiple sushi dishes as appetizers which were absolutely fabulous. The sushi chef is from Argentina which apparently has one of the best sushi schools in the world. I was blown away by the quality, presentation and flavor. The fish comes in fresh every day Everyone at my table thoroughly enjoyed their meals from the salmon, snapper, pork chop and linguine. My favorite was the snapper with sautéed vegetables. Our server was Nikki she was super funny and nice. One of the managers Dean came over to our table he was extremely accommodating (and handsome!!) you can tell he truly loves what he does. Dean was so kind to us he brought us out a dessert plate on the house. It had deconstructed tiramisu, cheesecake and zabaione which I had never heard of before. Located in the Doris strip mall, this was a nice find. I love finding local small restaurants to support and will definitely come here again. We came here on a Sat for lunch. Nikki provided great service and we really enjoyed the food. The prices were very reasonable as well. We ordered the Cesar salad with salmon add on and the ahi tuna appetizer. The ahi tuna appetizer was a very generous portion and I ended up just having that as my entree. They also gave us complimentary salmon croquettes, which was a very nice touch and delicious. We had a decent lunch here although we didn't have very much to eat. I'd been to their restaurant in Sunrise and was looking forward to a similar experience. That restaurant is a casual fish place with good food and reasonable prices. This place, however, is the Boca-fied version -- more upscale with white tablecloths, a stiffer vibe, and a more expensive menu. There were a lot of older "ladies that lunch" while we were there. Even a 98-year-old's birthday party filling a large round table in the middle of the main dining room. It didn't seem like a place that would welcome families. Service was friendly and apologetic. Their sushi chef was not in yet (he was running late? There was a difference of opinion of when he was supposed to arrive), so their sushi menu was not available nor was the guy that did their oysters. They could do poke, but that was all from that select menu. I wanted to try their baked stuffed clams that I'd seen on their regular menu. After checking with the kitchen, they were able to make them for me. I ordered a half dozen. I was told they would take some time to make, so I ordered a small Caesar salad to have while I waited. The small Caesar was much larger than I'd anticipated. It had minimal dressing, so I asked for some more. The Caesar was a lot of dark cut up romaine with small croutons and shaved parmesan cheese. It was okay. Shortly after they served the salad, the clams were delivered -- much sooner than anticipated. I probably would have ordered something after the clams instead of a salad first had I known. The baked stuffed clams were served with lemons and two small, tiny bottles of tabasco sauce. The clams were very tasty. I liked the breading and the bite of clam in every shell. I'd order these again. My husband who had wanted to order sushi, wound up ordering a large Caesar salad just to have something. It was a slightly bigger version of the one I'd had. Three quarters of our way through his salad, we were told the sushi chef had arrived. By then, he was almost done and past wanting anything else. I'm glad we came and tried them. Excited, we visited Tin Fish this past weekend. The location is off Yamato, close to Lyons Road in the Doris's shopping center. We called prior and asked if there was a full bar, and indeed, there was one in another room, which is a good thing if there is overflow or the reservations get backed up. Our cocktails were made expertly, and they were not stingy with the alcohol. There are a bunch of tables for dinner service in the bar area, but that area could be gussied up to make it more appealing as the room is dark and somewhat claustrophobic. Their larger, brighter main dining area is lovely and inviting. The acoustics could be worked on as it can irritate those who don't like a loud, bustling place. We were having fun and were loud, so we didn't care. The menu is enormous. Fish preparations are grilled, fried, sauteed, and sushi/sashimi-style. There are raw bar options, salads, soups, and hot apps. There are chops and meat options, as well as pasta. With four action-packed sides of a menu and many ingredients and sauces, it takes a long time to get through the menu to figure out what to eat. We started with appetizers for the table: tender fried calamari (no tentacles), sauteed brothy muscles (could have been warmer), garlic toast, and "bready" baked clams. We overordered 12 clams for four people, thinking they would be small and light, but they were heavy and tasted fishy and stinky. For mains, a giant plate of tuna poke was fresh, well chilled, and served over greens alongside homemade (a smidge too greasy) pita-style chips. I'd share that for an appetizer next go around. Char-grilled oysters were fishy, not briny, and were unappealing with dried-on baked parmesan, served with some side ginger-soy sauce that made no sense to me as a compliment to the dish. A grouper was mistakenly brought out instead of a grilled snapper, but, once corrected, was soft and juicy in the end. Grilled and fresh, the snapper was a winner. A humungous char-grilled caesar was nicely doused with anchovy. For desserts, we opted for their chilled zabaglione with berries (a favorite), which could have been amplified with more marsala and less sugar. It was homemade. A substituted turtle cheesecake (for plain that they were out of) was dense and just okay in flavor; it was nothing special, but I bet their homemade plain one was delicious. Hopefully, they will have some left next time. The chairs were nicely padded for sitting and enjoying a meal. The tables were white-tablecloth, and the decor and menu selections screamed for a more upscale experience in both menu and service. Nicki, our server, was friendly and attentive, and all the staff welcomed us as family. At the time of this review, their webpage is not fully functional. I hope they tighten up their menu. I would love this local family fish restaurant to be a keeper. read more

Was there last night to celebrate my 70th birthday. I must say I was very disappointed. The service was not the greatest. The guy was too busy with a bigger table behind us. tim Fish used to be our Go To seafood place. The chef was great. We haven't been back for 6 months so we decided to go again. What a mistake. Service was super forgetful. Starting with soup. They brought the wrong soup and had the switch it out. We were never offered fresh pepper for our Grilled Caesars and had to ask for it. Then our whole roasted Red Snapper came out raw. I turned it and it came raw again plus the $6.00 sauce never was served. The manager did come over and apologize taking it off the bill. Lastly, I was so looking forward to fresh Northern Cherrystones Clams. But they did not have any That night. We will not Be back. I didn't care for the coating on the fish cod. I'm used to a batter coating and this was seasoned bread crumbs. For my taste is was too salty. The chef came to my table and said it is a long standing recipe. I was told I could order it with panko unseasoned. It was great atmosphere and the lunch was served beautifully. A mixed report. High marks for the food. My breaded snapper was excellent. Portions generous. Everyone in my party was pleased with their dishes. They did run out of decaf coffee. My big caveat is the noise level as noted by several other reviewers. Loud enough to interfere with conversation especially if you are hearing impaired. As luck would have it we met one of the owners as we were leaving and voiced our unhappiness. His response was of interest. He shared our concern and said that they intend to bring in a consultant to address the issue of ambient noise. On wonders why this wasn't done before they opened. Bottom Line: At the present noise level we are unlikely to return despite food which is very well done. We may return in six months or so to see if they have made any progress in addressing what is to me a deal breaking issue. read more

Our family's evening at Tin Fish Boca was nothing short of fantastic! The food was excellent, the staff was wonderful, and the fact that we were there for one of their first nights of service at their new location capped the experience off as fun and memorable. For Chef Joe Melluso and his staff (Vince was our awesome waiter) the evening was fraught with challenges, much beyond their control (think technology). However, none of this impacted the quality of what was coming out of the kitchen - it was all fantastic! The polite and accommodating demeanor of the staff exhibited under pressure made the evening even more special. Our family of five remained patient and understanding, recognizing the inherent stress of opening a new restaurant and knowing they were doing their best in a very stressful situation. We've all seen the show Chef, right?! Our patience truly paid off, our meal was incredible - much of it pictured below. The conch fritters and sauteed calamari (appetizers) were great, the seasoned & coated (crispy) whole branzino melted in your mouth, the mahi mahi (one order "simply grilled" and one "Tin Fish saute") were both perfectly prepared, and our non-fish eater loved his penne a la vodka. The truffle fries and sauteed mushrooms were both superb sides. And a special shoutout to Chef Joe for including the cole slaw recipe from the Hewlett Fish Market (walking distance from where I grew up on Long Island), so it felt like coming home for me. But, the true pièce de résistance for me was the lobster roll. It was the best I have ever had - anywhere. Our meal was wonderfully slow, relaxing, and filled with laughter, so despite all of the amazing food we had just eaten, we were still interested in trying some dessert, and I'm so glad we did. We shared a slice of key lime pie, as well as a slice of some sort of decadent chocolate cake with a caramel(?) sauce. By all means, save room for dessert! Our dinner will go down in family history as a pinnacle experience. The combination of the very well-prepared dishes, welcoming environment, and hard-working staff who appreciated our laughter and patience made for a wonderful evening. A new restaurant in the Yamato Village Center where there is a Doris Italian Market & Bakery. We have been to their predecessors. Very busy . They have a huge menu offering mainly fish, sushi, steaks and chops, and seafood. Everything is a la carte including and on the pricey side. I told them when i made the reservation that it was my wife's birthday and reminded them when they called to reconfirm the reservation. Never happened. Our server started reciting the menu and was very attentive but then became elusive. My wife was hungry due to a late lunch, so she ordered the Lobster Bisque, served with Oyster crackers and a California Roll. She really enjoyed both . I opted for Fettucine Mixed seafood, mahi, salmon, mussels, shrimp, and clams in a choice of white or red sauce. A nice dish, light on the pasta and the fish was thin and dry. read more

The Tin Fish has only been open for about a month, so the issues we encountered may improve over time. At our 7:30 pm reservation on a Saturday night, we were not seated until 7:50 pm despite seeing others seated ahead of us. The hostess eventually offered to seat us by the bar since a table in the main dining room was still unavailable for our party of 4. A seat by the bar is probably much louder than the other side of the restaurant so this was unfortunate. The restaurant is very loud due to live music, making conversation difficult. Whenever the music would stop - it was a welcomed relief. I think many people have commented on this - I hope management considers lowering the music so guests can hear each other. Our server, Vince, was friendly and offered half off our first round of drinks because of the delay, which we appreciated. He also let me sample another drink on the house - strawberry, jalapeños, tequila, smoke - it was really good. The service was slow, possibly due to the restaurant still getting up to speed. We tried the calamari and kaboom shrimp as starters, which were good but the portions were not very big. The burgers we ordered arrived before the grouper entrees. So 2 people got their meal 20 minutes before the other two. This was unacceptable. Putting that aside, the grouper key west style with rice had a large portion size and was delicious. Because we are seafood lovers, we may consider coming back for lunch or a weeknight dinner when it's less busy. On a Saturday night, it's unlikely we would return unless they make some improvements. We found it difficult to get the attention of servers and managers when needed, which was disappointing considering the higher prices of the dishes (for example - we wanted lemon for the fish but no one came by. Water was empty and not refilled......and nearly impossible to get anyone's attention - our server was running around so I believe they're understaffed). Tin Fish Boca. This is the raw bar and seafood steakhouse you're looking for. Is it cheap, no -- this is Boca Raton after all. But you're going to get quality for your dollar here, and Chef/owner Joe Melluso and his very attentive staff are very serious about you having a good time. Although I haven't visited the other locations of this restaurant, having only heard of the food by reputation, I was very surprised by the quality of the dishes here. While the menu may seem standard seafood/raw bar with some token Italian stuff on it, the execution of the dishes and pristine nature of the raw seafood was impressive. When it comes to seafood I will take execution and quality over trying to break the culinary sound barrier any day. The seafood tower appetizer was particularly noteworthy, with high-quality oysters (four different varieties), colossal shrimp, lobster rail, and mussels, prepared right in front of us and we had a front row seat at the bar observing our shucker put it all together. We also enjoyed the broiled oyster appetizer and the creamy cod croquette. I observed other tables receiving different dishes, including various oyster preparations, steak, and sushi. It's worth noting that the restaurant now serves Apalachicola oysters (see menu), which were only recently approved for fishing again in Florida -- I confirmed this by being shown the box they were shipped in, in their walk-in. The Zabaglione with fruit dessert was outstanding and on par with versions from top Italian restaurants in New York City, and I'm pretty sure the last time we had one this good was in the Bronx or New Jersey. The cocktail staff is very knowledgeable and I enjoyed the "Sicilian Lemonade" on the specialty drink menu. Overall, we enjoyed our experience so much that we booked lunch for the following weekend when our friend from Houston is visiting. read more

Don't be fooled by the white table clothes and fine dining appearance. Wish there was an option to give 0 starts but need to voice this experience for others. The whole experience was absolutely comic and if we didn't have a gift card to the restaurant we would have walked out. Service was horrible they couldn't even Servers wouldn't be fit to work in a food tuck or even as deliver drivers. Given the food on the menu and the prices we have had much better for a fraction of the cost. Please note we set a reservation days prior to arrival. The experience started with us showing up to our reservation 10 minutes prior and having to wait 20 for a table. Then when the table was ready there was only 1 chair and the hostess was surprised and unsure what to do. When the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink he was confused by us asking for sparkling water and was constantly asking if we wanted water and unable to properly give us the bottle and taking it away after we clearly wanted the large bottle of sparkling water. I should have took it as an omen of what was to come. We gave our order and the waited. When the waiter returned 20-30 minutes later to check on us, he forgot to put in our order entirely by asking if we wanted appetizers. We repeated ourselves and 20 minutes later only one entree came out (a sushi roll we ordered as an entree) but still no appetizers. When we asked for soy sauce they came out with the plastic container of soy sauce the kitchen uses. Looking around the dining area other people were getting orders delivered in the same manner and food was constantly being set back. Soon after receiving the one entree we got our appetizers with hardly any room on the small table. Finally after 50+ minutes from giving our original order the food was delivered but we had to eat separately due to the food not being delivered in a timely manner. I visited this place because it had crab cakes on its menu. The crab cakes were horrible. I always finish all my crab cakes everywhere I order them, except this place. I left this place hungry because I could not have one more bite of the crab cake. It tasted like crab puree with a bunch of salt and parsley rolled into a ball, covered with breadcrumbs, and deep-fried. Come on, chef!!! You can do better!!!
