On a recent (and first) visit - came early evening and the hostess with an 80% empty restaurant did a faux pas by sitting us at the table next to the kitchen. But kudos to them they noticed our displeasure and sat us elsewhere without much fanfare. The restaurant reminds me of the many vintage 1980's Boca East restaurants given its decor. The owner presented our selected bottle of wine and we got to talking - turns out he was the former GM of Casa D'Angelo. We started with two appetizers, a bowl of minestrone soup split between the two of us and zucchini flowers, a dish we typically love. Both dishes came out together and were at best lukewarm. No parmesan cheese was offered for the soup and my wife commented that the tomato base broth was straight out of Campbell's (I say Sysco). While she was not a fan I did like the fresh vegetables but again serving the soup at lukewarm temperature gives it at best a 3. The zucchini flowers were good. Minimal zucchini - the tempura batter was heavily stuffed with ricotta. Again a 3. Our main courses included yellowtail snapper oreganata, chicken parm with a small side of spaghetti and broccoli rabe. My wife liked her snapper for the freshness, thinness and lack of fish smell, all positives "it was good". The chicken parm served lukewarm looked like it was pre-prepared in the morning and had a dollop of what looked like day old tomato paste on top. It was bland and actually flavorless. Spaghetti too was nothing to write home about. We had two desserts. A cannoli that if not the best was one of the best I have ever had. The pistachio tartufo was not really liked by my wife. Overall I would say that the food is "ok". Leaving the place - it was bustling, with the Boca East crowd. My wife commented that I was definitely the youngest person there. She gave the place 2 stars and I - 2.5. I did bump it up to 3 because I want to see the place be a success and liked the owner but for now no reason to really come back. I'll stick with Le Sorelle in Downtown East Boca for great Italian. read more

Armondo's Review Appetizers:** Octopus, zucchini flowers, and the Caesar salad were incredibly fresh and vibrant, each biteier than the last. Main Courses:** The veal chop parmesan and the lasagna were this chef's kiss--tender, flavorful, and perfectly executed. Service:** Attentive, friendly, and genuinely poised; Mario the waiter made the experience seamless and enjoyable. Dessert:** Pistachio cheesecake and tartuffo were decadent and wonderfully shareable, ending the meal on a sweet high note. I thought the service was great and the environment was classy feeling, but the food was meh -- I got the roasted chicken with potatoes and calamari as the appetizer. The chicken and potatoes were floating in some type of orange sauce and the sauce was not very good. The roasted chicken wasn't very flavorful either. I was disappointed. read more

Bravo! Armando you have created a dining experience second to none. The decor is welcoming and comfortable. All your staff is well trained and ultra professional. Since you've opened in November we've enjoyed three great dining experiences and look forward to many more. The veal chop was well prepared, succulent and well seasoned. Preceded by a fresh crispy Caesar salad with white anchovies that are a great touch. The eggplant appetizer was fabulous. My wife enjoyed the fish special. Considering you're a new restaurant your wine list is amazing and you always pick out the best selection of Amarone for us. Dessert was fabulous. I'm looking forward to the black truffle pasta special on our next visit. You make dining a special experience each and every time. Bravo ! read more

A beautiful evening!! We just left Armando's and I couldn't wait until tomorrow, so my review is fresh and I hope translates well to those that follow Yelp. ARmando's is two months old , yet we didn't experience any " growing pains". Valet parking on a cold Boca night was perfect as it was five steps into a brand new experience at Armando's. The room is beautiful. The people dining were pretty. The vibe, perfect. Armando introduced himself to us. We chatted about the two times I called for reservations ( last weekend) only to be turned down twice being his place was sold out. Jared our waited took our drink orders and then a few minutes later our dinner orders. The drinks were perfect! For dinner ( there were four of us) we ordered Caesar salad ( delicious) minestrone soup ( cold night) , halibut special of the evening ( so good) a lobster / pasta dish ( out of this world) linguine vongole and the game was on. Service excellent. Food, outrageously tasty and.a good time was had by all. Armando is running an upscale Italian restaurant in a town filled with Italian restaurants, some very good ones. His is right there on the top so if you haven't been there , try it. I think you'll be happy with the entire picture...upscale, friendly, excellent food, good drinks and as we left Marie said good night to us. Armando and his family run a wonderful establishment. From the minute we walked in the door he made us feel like family. We had burrata and salmon as an appetizer that was fresh and delicious. He has it imported from Italy and you can taste how fresh it is. For entrees we had homemade fettuccine pomodoro and rigatoni à la vongole. Both were fantastic and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauces were light but still full of flavor. For dessert we tried the chef's rum baba and savored every bite. The cocktails were ice cold, wine was perfect, and the coffee was piping hot. There are many Italian restaurants in Boca but Armando's will treat you like family. We will definitely be back. read more

They Overbook and lie to diners. Arrived at reservation time, told table would be ready in a couple of minutes. 10 minutes later told the same. 15 minutes later told the same thing. Got disgusted and left. The restaurant could have cared less. Guests who arrived before us were still not seated. read more

Early February I started a search for a venue to celebrate my parents' 75th wedding anniversary. I called numerous restaurants in the Boynton Beach/Delray/Boca area. No one wanted to take a reservation for 20 people even with a down payment. The few that would- wanted an an astronomical price per head and didn't offer much choice. I called Armando's and Armando answered the phone. I explained what I was looking for and he was more than accommodating!!! Normally they open at 5 but I explained my parents are 93 & 96 and he opened the restaurant at 3 for us!! He quickly sent me 3 different priced menus. I decided on the middle priced one. He was flexible on appetizers. They out out bruschetta the moment we sat down. That was followed by antipasto trays. 2nd course was a choice between 2 salads and the entree choices were numerous- 2 pastas, roasted chicken, branzino, steak, and veal chop parmigiana. The desserts were delicious! Cheese cake, Tiramisu and tartufo! Armando had no problem with me bringing going my own cake and.... accommodating my 2 vegan/gluten free cousins. If I could give 10 stars I would. The service was impeccable. The ambiance was lovely. The private room was perfect for 20 people! The food as usual was good, it's been our third time there, the other two times were good all around, service, and ambiance. However this time, yes the food good, but the noise level was much higher, I believe they added tables, every table was taken, I asked Armando that, and he said they did not add any tables just that Gazebo was never that booked up and it seems this way. It's great they are so busy, if they didn't add tables, I would suggest the take some out, yes, less revenue, but in the long run it would pay off. Food and service absolutely no complaints just that I felt it was really noisy last night. Just my opinion. read more
