After driving past this place for about a year I decided to try it out for their new brunch menu! Everything looked delicious -- not your basic bacon and eggs stuff -- so we were really excited to try it. The interior of the restaurant seems like it's having a bit of an identity crisis. There's some old French posters, some sound dampening panels on the ceiling, and some kinda funky art going on. Not a big deal but it's hard to tell the intended vibe. The wait staff was SUPER attentive and my husband said it felt like a fine dining establishment in that way. They pulled the chairs out, made sure we had napkins if we dropped them, brought out special knives for certain dishes, etc. The food was just okay. I got a fried green tomato Benedict that was a bit undercooked and my husband got a breakfast gumbo-y thing which had good flavor but not much meat. The best thing were the amazing cheese grits!! Stephen/Steven was our server, and he was absolutely amazing; I hope I'm spelling his name correctly We ordered the trout and the salmon. We also had the hummus for an appetizer. The trout was thin, but very flavorful. The salmon was more spongy with lots of flavor and came with apples definitely unique. The hummus delicious. I do not think I would return. I was not that impressed with the entrees for the cost. However the service was amazing. The older gentleman at the front was snapping fingers at staff we felt very bad for them. My first time for dinner with 9 girlfriends. We made reservations. We were seated in a corner near the entrance. Not my favorite, but it was good. Our waitstaff was great, she gave us space to talk and she would come back to fill our glasses with water or for additional orders for glasses of wine. The decor is minimalist. The ambiance is great, especially for couples. It appeared everyone was dressed smart casual to evening wear. I ordered the fried green tomatoes which is topped with shrimp salad. The dish was delicious. I had (2) glasses of white wine, sauvignon blanc., it was crisp, semi-sweet and delicious. My entree was the Lamb with brussels sprout and diced potatoes. My first taste was great and then the saltiness took over. I noticed other people were complaining of the saltiness also. I was very disappointed. What a special surprise. We were in the area and decided from Yelp reviews to drop in. Fortunately we arrived during Happy Hour and were able to get a table without reservations. Victoria was our server... she had a huge party and was very busy. We ordered mimosas, mango and pineapple.. both very good! I ordered the shrimp and grits. What stuck out the absolute most was a friend was having a bout of diverticulitis and can't eat really anything. Our waiter was such a doll and went to the back to see what options were available and brought her several options (beef, chicken, and veal stock) along with club soda with bitters and an umbrella- so she could feel like she was fully enjoying happy hour as well. Timothy's has been on my list and I'm so glad I got the chance to try it! The service, the ambiance is just so good and classy! Unfortunately, we had some hiccups with the food. My lasagna was completely burnt on the bottom. I couldn't even cut through it with a fork. It still puzzles me that it was served that way. Everyone was extremely apologetic and of course they remade it. My mother's Cornish hens were one second from being burnt. They tasted fine and she ate them. I don't know if the chef was having an off day but everything seemed to be overcooked. The bananas foster was excellent. I will definitely give them another try. We are a little mixed about Timothy's. We loved the look of the restaurant and the decor of it. It was nice and classy inside. The service was amazing. Our server and other workers were very nice and accommodating. We brought our own cake and they were quick to help us put it in the fridge and provide utensils for cutting and serving - even a lighter for our candles. We just personally didn't love the food - everything was just okay. We did like the lobster pot pie, Caesar salad, and their fries. But the entrees were just okay. My bacon wrapped meatloaf ($28) was less than half the size of Stoney River's Steakhouse for $27 and Annie Gunn's lunch portion for $20. I did wish there was 1 more deviled egg to make 4 instead of 3 as 3 is an odd to split between 2 diners. For the meal, I opted for the Crispy chicken breast with Brussels and Potatoes Gratin in lieu of the mashed. The gravy was a great accompaniment to the breast, which wasn't dried out. When we were taken to our table I noticed how nicely the table looked with the white tablecloth, the glassware and silverware. We started with the Berries and Goat Cheese Salad. The salad was served with a spring mix, red onion, strawberry, blueberry, sliced almonds, goat cheese, and a honey mustard vinaigrette. The salad was a 5 out of 5. Excellent flavors with fresh ingredients and the perfect dressing. We ordered the Miso Poached Grouper and the Filet of Beef. We shared the entrees so we could enjoy tasting both. The grouper was a 4 out of 5 and the Filet was 3.5 out of 5. The grouper had Hen of the woods mushroom, sugar snap peas, napa cabbage, miso broth, and micro cilantro. The grouper was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The mushroom, snap peas, and cabbage was overcooked and limpy. The Filet of Beef had Broccolini, whipped potatoes, and red wine. The filet was not tender. This was very disappointing. The sauce with the filet was a big plus. For dessert we shared Death by Chocolate. It consisted of flourless chocolate cake, dark chocolate mousse, espresso, and crème anglaise. The dessert was a 5 out of 5. We received excellent service. Stopped in again on another trip to Creve Coeur and had a Caesar's salad and a Timothy's burger. Both were well presented and good portions. I enjoyed the meal and within my travel budget... which is becoming a challenge these days. The dining room is white paper tables and a little cramped but comfortable enough.
