Empanada Combo Rice and Beans Agua Fresca
    Angela M.

Been wanting to try this local spot for a while & happy I did! Placed an order online, order was pretty much ready to go when I got there - everything was super fresh & hot! The place was cute inside but we placed an order to go, so wasn't in there for long. Two couples were sitting at tables and eating. Had a foosball table which is always fun. There were 3 workers who were super busy making all of the orders fresh but they were attentive as soon as I walked in. I got the 2 empanada combo with rice & beans. The rice & beans were amazing - so flavorful. I got the chimichurri & pork empanada which was super tasty & the spinach artichoke one, which had a creamy filling on the inside. The empanada crust was so good too! Wish I ordered some salsa or something to dip in, but next time! My partner got the chicharron with rice (without beans) - incredible! I had a bite and immediately wanted more. Super flavorful, omg. Came with half an avocado too! A slice of lime would work so well to cut the heaviness too. We also got a fresca - a strawberry mango to split. Ordered a large & it was huge! Was refreshing but a little too sweet for me, topped it off with some seltzer and it was delightful. Will definitely be back! Looking forward to trying more.

Absolutely delicious!!! And gluten free!!! I had the loaded potato and spinach artichoke empanada combo. Side of tostones. Nice and crispy. Perfect size. Delicious dipping sauces. Go and check them out!

This place is amazing! Everything on the menu is super tasty! The owner Ruben is such a nice guy, always a friendly atmosphere. Can't say enough good things about this place

Ordered for poolside get together with my family, we got five different empanadas and also got the Chicharrón and tostones! Each empanadas had a lot of filling inside and everybody was happy with the selection! Will definitely be back!

Ordered from here twice this week. Great food!I am obsessed with the yuca and cheese balls! One of best ways I have ever had yuca. The plantains are also very good! The salad, rice bowls, empanadas and stuffed arepas were all good. And I love the sauces! Will definitely order again and try more stuff! Also love that most of it is gluten free.

For drinks, I was thinking about ordering a margarita, but our server mentioned the mojito specials. I quickly switched up and ordered the coconut mojito. My husband tried the mango passion fruit mojito, but it was extremely sour and had to be sent back. Unfortunately, the second drink he ordered also wasn't to his liking. I ordered the coconut mojito, the drink itself was good, but between the narrow glass and all the ice, it disappeared pretty quickly, which felt different from past experiences. Now Let's talk Dominican Ribs ... OMG...the thing that hooked me here the first time... The flavor was spot on, clearly that recipe has not changed. They fall off the bone, tender with that sticky sweet lick your fingers kind of special but they too were a little different. A little dainty. I just found my picture from 2019 and did a side-by-side. We also ordered the chicken wings and they to me didn't have a special feel. They were reminiscing of the ones I grab at Costco for my family barbecue. Good but didn't have that Caribbean inspired taste and they were not so, fall off the bone.

On top of that, my damn car decided to up and die, so I've been bleeding money on Ubers just to get to and from work. I even had to go into work on my day off just to sit around waiting for the tow truck so they could junk it. Love that for me. After I handled business with the junkers, I said eff it and headed to Whiskey Neat. I was starving--no breakfast, running on fumes--and since my job's in Patchogue, I figured I'd finally try them for lunch. First of all... happy hour on a Saturday from 12-6?! Uhhh hello?? In my Angelina from Jersey Shore voice. And if you pay cash, you get the discount. Say less. They've got a fabulous small plates menu. I started with the French onion soup--ooey gooey mozzarella, cheese pull was undefeated. Soup was delicious too. I haven't had French onion in ages and it really hit. Then I had the pulled pork slider, which was really good, but BABY... those short rib croquettes? To. Die. For. I also had to get my classic deviled eggs. A little heavy-handed on the paprika, but still solid. Drinks were half off, so of course I indulged. Started with an espresso martini because I needed something to jumpstart my day. Then I had a French martini because duh--I'm a French girl ‍. That one was good. Finished with my classic cosmo. Not gonna lie, I've had better, but it did what it needed to do and helped me forget my troubles for a couple hours. Also great playlist of music. I got there and they were playing Ska. After a difficult time trying to decide, I went with the Corpse Reviver No. 2 which is a delightful mix of London Dry Gin, Lillet Blank, lemon, Cointreau & absinthe rinse. It tasted like a light, fine lemon drop. We had already eaten but the menus all looked like they were filled with great options. We will create an UYE here..possibly even for a weekend day soon. The service was impeccable--our waiter was friendly, and really made us feel taken care of. But, as much as I wanted to keep coming back, the food just didn't live up to the expectations that the beautiful setting and upscale prices would suggest. I had high hopes, but some of the skepticism after reading other reviews which was unfortunately spot on: the food here is incredibly underwhelming for the price. Appetizers: Clams Casino: For $18, I was expecting a little more than six tiny clams, each one was rubbery, overcooked, and lacked any of the depth of flavor. Cajun Seared Tuna: I love a good tuna, and this one came close to being a standout. The sear was fine, and the temperature was just shy of medium, but the wasabi and teriyaki drizzle felt lazy. I've had better. Entrees: Mahi Mahi: Broiled, not seared, it wasn't terrible. The fish was a little on the dry side, but the overall flavor was decent, especially with the grilled pineapple topping. Still, for what it cost, I expected a more flavorful and tender piece of fish. Halibut (Dinner Special): This was really disappointing. Halibut is such a beautiful fish, delicate and buttery, but what I was served was far from it. The fish was overcooked, and the accompanying risotto was undercooked--nothing like the creamy, perfectly al dente risotto you'd expect at a restaurant of this caliber. It was bland, dry, and sorely lacking in seasoning. I had to add so much salt and pepper. Two mixed drinks, two beers, the two entrees, and two Apps added up to well over $200 (with tip). You're paying for the ambiance here, which is undeniably great, but the food just doesn't justify the cost. Despite the beautiful setting and excellent service, I'm not sure I'd be returning. Unless bad night for the cooks? Drift 82 has potential, but for now, it's more of a "look but don't touch" kind of place for me.
