The food was delicious!! You could tell that it was all fresh and made well. We had the empanada combo, with tostones on the side and an order of the flautas. I do not think I have ever had tostones so perfectly salted, not too much just enough to add to the overall taste. We had the steak and cheese empanada and chicken mango habanero and they were both delicious. The owners were friendly and kept checking in. We absolutely cannot wait to go back. Finally stopped at Tico's and had the combos for my 3 girls and the tostones combo and it was delicious. I ordered a box of empanadas for the weekend just in case we get snowed in. Been wanting to try this local spot for a while & happy I did! Placed an order online, order was pretty much ready to go when I got there - everything was super fresh & hot! The place was cute inside but we placed an order to go, so wasn't in there for long. Two couples were sitting at tables and eating. Had a foosball table which is always fun. There were 3 workers who were super busy making all of the orders fresh but they were attentive as soon as I walked in. I got the 2 empanada combo with rice & beans. The rice & beans were amazing - so flavorful. I got the chimichurri & pork empanada which was super tasty & the spinach artichoke one, which had a creamy filling on the inside. The empanada crust was so good too! Wish I ordered some salsa or something to dip in, but next time! My partner got the chicharron with rice (without beans) - incredible! I had a bite and immediately wanted more. Super flavorful, omg. Came with half an avocado too! A slice of lime would work so well to cut the heaviness too. We also got a fresca - a strawberry mango to split. Ordered a large & it was huge! Was refreshing but a little too sweet for me, topped it off with some seltzer and it was delightful. Great food, I didn't realize they were gluten free! First time my family had them , I didn't order anything because I had no knowledge it was gluten free. Second time they ordered from there I joined it! Thought it was good! I ordered the combo, which there was an option to add a 3rd empanada or another deal with 3 empanada's and fries but maybe it's for the best I don't eat three One empanada was missing from the order but mistakes happen and luckily I live close and the rest of the food still was hot. No complaints though!! Just wish I knew you guys had GF empanadas the first time!!! Will be returning :) read more

Tico's is the BEST. My brother first tried it because he has to eat gluten free (Celiac) and he is very careful to only eat out at places that have dedicated fryers and practice safe food prep which Tico's sure does. In general it is very clean and has a great little eat in area. We've gone with our picky kiddos and they DEVOUR the delicious chicken and cheese empanadas which are fantastic. Service was friendly and speedy. Owners are lovely and hardworking people. NOW for the food - I dream about the chicken habanero in my sleep it's so good. Never greasy, perfectly filled, freshly made to order. Absolutely phenomenal. Yuka fries are an experience for the tastebuds you've never had anything like them. Also, if you love mango try the Agua Fresco it is refreshing and delish. The empanadas were in the wrongly labeled sleeves, which would have been unfortunate if I was sharing the empanadas with someone else. However it was just for me so no big deal. Just tried Ticos. Had the rice and beans with buffalo chicken and cheesy chicken empanadas. He's been opened for awhile now and as all businesses when opening have some glitches. First time going after seeing the posts about the place. Walked in and should have left. The owner was rude and nasty to an employee in front of me and my family while he sat there eating and not welcoming at all to a first time customer. Food was sub par. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. If you want great empanadas check out Island Empanada. Staff and owners are friendly and nice unlike the owner of Ticos Empanadas. I am leaving one star for the employees. They were very nice but NO-ONE should be treated the way they were treated. read more

We have ordered takeout from Tico's 4 times since they opened and there is never a wait to be helped! We have been impressed each time and order from a variety of the flavors, our favorites being beef and potato and barbecue chicken. The rice and beans is always so good and comes with a LOT of food for the price. Highly recommend for a newer local business. Interesting new little place. Good intention, but the food lacks flavor. Empanadas aren't good. Grossly greasy and just bland. Several reviews in Yelp also share the same, so if Empanadas are their core theme, they are not starting on the right track. Not sure that the food is authentic either.
